Today we're going to go behind the scenes of her upbringing, find out her journey into acting, talk creativity and what it's like being a first time mum. My conversation with Matilda was really inspiring. I loved her honesty coupled with her willingness to follow what fuels her fire-and what doesn't! While you won't find her hanging about on The Gram, you can simply embody the message of truth that she shares and look inward to see if you're living the life you want to be. Or if you're following society's "shoulds" and "have to's". His most recent being Creative Calling. Oh, and he's also survived a near death experience with an avalanche. As soon as I heard Chase speak on creativity I knew I had to get him on the show. The way he spoke about creativity, and creative expression resonated very much with how I see it. I feel like his take on creativity challenges the status quo and goes against what many people will tell you about your Creative Calling. His philosophy around being creative is: giving of ourselves freely, adding value and expecting nothing in return. Super powerful. “You live a very, very different life when early on you begin to see that self-care is not extra credit. It's not that spa treatment you treat yourself to once a year. Self-care is constantly evaluating if something is good for you or not—if something feels good to you or not.”   — Sheri Salata, Ep101. The Monica Kade podcast  Joining me today is Sheri Salata, writer-producer, Co-host of the podcast The Sheri + Nancy Show and Co-founder of thepillarlife.com. She's had an impressive career working as the executive producer on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and also served as co-president of Harpo Studios and OWN.   My path crossed with Sheri's virtually at first. A little while back, I was listening to Marie Forleo's podcast, and it was the episode with Sheri. I hadn't read the intro to learn about who she was at the time, I merely pressed play on the episode. After a good 15 or so minutes into the conversation, Sheri started talking about her career path, that her career didn't really take off until her 30s. My ears pricked up and I thought to myself, ‘Who is this woman?'  That's when I knew I had to get Sheri on The Monica Kade podcast. I resonated so deeply with that message, having struggled through my 20s with knowing what I wanted to do—and the constant chop and change. "What the world needs from you, is for you to be so filled with joy that it's literally coming out of your pores.”   — Sheri Salata, Ep101. The Monica Kade podcast I was genuinely thrilled when Sheri agreed to come on the show. Her story of The Beautiful No serves as a reminder that there's always a bigger picture unfolding. Often we don't see it. And, when we feel like we're getting the (beautiful) 'No'—let's not give up hope. We must not give up on our dreams. In fact, it's a moment to dive deeper and stay true to the vision that burns in our heart. This woman is a bundle of joy. Her warmth and candid nature make you feel like you're hanging out with a dear friend. I feel honored to have had the chance to sit down with Sheri, share some laughs and some wisdoms, that you too get to hear. I hope you enjoy the conversation. She's an absolute delight of a woman. May you walk away knowing that you CAN live the life of your dreams! LEARN ABOUT Who Sheri saw herself as in the world and what her approach to life was like as a child What Sheri's life looked like working at The Oprah Winfrey Show What aspects of herself she neglected during her career at OWN Why your mindset, surrounding environment and social circle impact the life of your dreams—and how to ensure they're a support not a hindrance The greatest thing Sheri learned about herself writing the book Why you must foster self-care before you can live the life of your dreams We explore the beautiful question and why it's important to ask yourself, ‘Where do I want to go?' What steps to take if you feel like you have the career of your dreams, but not the life of your dreams. Why it's okay if you haven't got the dream career in your 30s, 40s, or 50s—and what to do about it.   SIGNATURE QUESTIONS What scares Sheri? What's her greatest asset? “It's that rawness of being in the moment. There's just so much going on around you. Your focus is so pinpointed…I find it so relaxing.” - Ep85. Ren McGann, The Monica Kade Podcast Ren McGann's and my path collided via Instagram. I very quickly fell in love with his big wave photographs and it wasn't long before gut instinct urged me to get him on the podcast show. I follow A LOT of wave photographers but over the years, nothing has moved me in the way his photography has. We got to chatting, and the more I found about him through his website and the other media articles that have featured him, the more I wanted to know. His down-to-earth nature, coupled with a genuine love for making connections and bettering the lives of those who cross his path really stood out for me. And so, this week I'm stoked to welcome Ren to Episode 85 of The Monica Kade podcast. He's a Western Australian photographer specialising in big wave photography. He's always had a fascination for big waves and extreme weather. His first trip to ‘The Right'—one of the biggest wave spots in the world—sparked his passion for photography and dramatically changed the direction of his life. He went from being a commercial mariner for 10 years, running all sorts of vessels out of Exmouth in eco-tourism, fishing, oil and gas, cray-fishing amongst others to immersing himself amongst mother nature's gnarliest yet magnificent waves and keenest surfers. If you haven't seen his photography, you must. I'm a huge fan of big and burly waves, but Ren's photos capture more than a wave. They're imbued with something I just can't put into words. I honestly loved this conversation with Ren and I hope you do too. Learn About: - What inspired him becoming a mariner? - What he loved most about that part of his life - The mental challenge of breaking out of a good life and staying where he was - What the quote on his website, “We find ourselves through exploration” means to him - When and how his interest in photography came into focus - What it's like to see the world through his eyes as a photographer - How he knows when the perfect moment is to take the shot - What he loves most about big waves - What he's learned about himself through photographing big waves - The down low on what it's really like for those of us who haven't experienced being in the ocean around these waves? - What his fascination with waves is Plus much more! Welcome to Episode 5 of the Fiercely Courageous Conversations podcast with Dr Rebecca Ray and myself, Monica Kade. In today's episode we're tackling the topic of Managing self-doubt & Imposter Syndrome.
Self-doubt is the silent killer of ambition and dreams, and when we dabble with self doubt more often than not this invites thoughts of, “who am I to do this?” and from there we perpetually fuel imposter syndrome and further fearful thoughts.
Today, Beck and I want to shine light on how best to step away from these mindsets and move into ways where we can manage and potentially even absolve ourselves from questioning our self-worth. We'll also touch on when self-doubt could be a protective mechanism, so you can recognise the difference and act accordingly. Our aim is to provide thoughtful insight around how as women we limit ourselves from truly expressing who we are and how this manifests into our professional and personal lives. fierce |fɪəs| - showing a heartfelt and powerful intensity We'd love to continue this month's conversation on Instagram under the FCC Episode 5 banner via @MonicaKade's Instagram page. "It doesn't matter the size of the fear. The size of the fear is big because you're smaller than it. Still, you must rise." - Amir Zoghi, The Monica Kade podcast Welcome to Episode 2 of the Mind Over Matter 4-part mini-series. Today's episode is about Rising Above Fear. In this conversation, Amir and I delve into the way fear can govern our life if we allow it. We discuss the ways that fear keeps us small and Amir beautifully shows you how you can bring awareness to the areas fear is driving the bus. We chat about why it's not about getting rid of the thoughts in our mind, rather bringing stillness to the mind — and how you can do that. This discussion isn't about changing your beliefs or reprogramming your mind in the way that the self-development and sometimes the spiritual world presents to us. It's something far greater. So, tune in to learn how you can rise above fear. If you enjoy this episode and what Amir is talking on, then it's not too late to subscribe to his Mind over Matter 4-week challenge for FREE. “When we step back and look at what our priorities and know that we are choosing, then we have the option to choose something different. Otherwise we spend our whole lives feeling like a victim to our circumstance.” - Kait Rich, The Monica Kade podcast Meet Kait Rich. This delightful woman is a coach, speaker and luxury travel nomad supporting creative female entrepreneurs who want to live flexible lifestyles and experience the ultimate freedom — freedom from limiting beliefs that hold them back from the big game they were born to play. Kait grew up in Canada and started her career like many other ambitious women, climbing the corporate ladder, first as a broadcast journalist and then as a political speech writer and communications advisor. When Kait's type-A drive pushed her too far, and she was diagnosed with debilitating rheumatoid arthritis, she was faced with a choice: continue burning the candle at both ends for a miserable life she was “supposed” to want and risk not having her health... Or start again. So she quit her job, packed up her life and began travelling the world full-time, working with thousands of professionals in more than 12 countries. Fast forward 7 years later, Kait runs Adventuress Experience, a year-long intensive online and retreat program for female entrepreneurs and professionals in transition, who feel stuck, stagnant and want more for their lives and businesses. In our conversation you'll learn about : > How Kait came to starting Adventuress Experience. > What she loves about travelling? > What's been one of her greatest lessons she's learnt through health problems? > The difference she sees in coaching, consulting and therapy. > What drives her about the work she does today. > Self judgement, perception, perfection and taking action and how these impact your life. > The power of choice and are you aware of what you're choosing.
