In director Oliver Park's horror film The Offering (out Jan. 13) an ancient evil is accidentally unleashed at a Jewish morgue in Brooklyn. "It's about a young man who is returning to the Hasidic community in New York, for the first time in many years, to introduce his estranged father to his pregnant, non-Jewish wife," says Park. "His father works in a mortuary and, as they arrive, a body is brought in with something untoward hidden inside it. It's about this demon who is desperately trying to feed from a child and then there's the underbelly, which is about family, communication, and someone coming back to his roots." The Offering is written by Hank Hoffman, from a story by Hoffman and Jonathan Yunger, but Park was able to add some scares to the Millennium Media-produced movie he himself had literally dreamed up. "One of the things I did in the pitch was I told them one of my nightmares," says the director. When Millennium later asked if he'd had any more terrifying dreams, Park and Hoffman sent them "nine pages of scary scenes they could add to the movie, carefully drawing from authentic Jewish demonology." The film was shot not in Brooklyn but 5,000 miles away in Bulgaria.

For several days the island has been battered by a powerful storm causing all manner of debris to wash up on the beach including British actor, writer and producer Nick Blood. Nick is well known for his roll of Lance Hunter in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Before he hit Hollywood, Nick had a string of roles on UK TV, including Trollied, Misfits, Him & Her and the police satire Babylon. Nick is no stranger to Theatre. He made his professional stage debut in The Priory as Adam, at the Royal Court Theatre. He went on to perform as Sordido in the modern adaptation of the Jacobean tragedy Women Beware Women at The National Theatre. In 2011, he appeared in Backbeat which told the story of the formation and early years of The Beatles. With a string of feature films in development and in production right now it’s clear Nick’s agent will be keen to rescue him from the Island as soon as possible (insert Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D joke here) Until then…. lets talk about crisps baby. We made it to series 3 of the 'Skateboarder And...' podcast and we thought we'd start with a #nbd For the first episode of series three we have a skateboarder, actor, activist and member of the marvel universe, Mr. Nick Blood! We talk about skating Argos boards, Southbank, discovering Milton Keynes, double tongues, shell toes and moving to Bristol. We discuss getting into acting, working multiple jobs to pay for drama school, TV shows, films, realising your job is now public consumption - the anxiety that brings, and getting on Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. Finally getting back in to skating and whether he'll return for another series of that Marvel show. Nick was a gent and this is one of the most interesting episodes of the podcast we've ever done. Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD 317 | The Team Recap On this weeks Agents of Steranko podcast we discuss “The Team”, episode 17 of Agents of SHIELD season 3. Daisy and her Secret Warriors unite to rescue Coulson and the team from the clutches of HiveWard, but it’s the mole within that made this such a terrific episode. SHIELD continues to be a really engaging drama, and the twists and turns as the team spirals into paranoia over who has been turned by Hive were absolutely thrilling. This episode did a terrific job of setting up what should be a fantastic drive to the finale as they all deal with the newest “Fallen Agent”. Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD 312 | Inside Man Recap On this weeks Agents of Steranko podcast we discuss “Inside Man”, episode 11 of Agents of SHIELD season 3. Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and General Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) head to an alien symposium hoping to find Gideon Malick’s allies. We always love when the gang heads out on spy missions, and this one doesn’t let us down. Talbot is a fun foil for Coulson and we also get the surprising return of Carl Creel, The Absorbing Man. With Bobbi sneaking around the outside of buildings, May sneaking in and out of hotel rooms, and Hunter bringing along some extra fire power we couldn’t have asked for more in this fun and engaging episode. Coulson and Fitz have returned from Maveth and are on the hunt for Gideon Malick. Grant Ward has also returned, but the Hydra entity “Hive” has taken over, and he is hungry. And finally, The Secret Warriors come together with the return of Joey Gutierrez and the addition of Yo-Yo Rodriguez as the team heads to Bogota, Columbia. This was a strong return with a surprising flash forward and a strong use of language as the SHIELD team goes global. On this weeks Agents of Steranko podcast we chat up the winter finale “Maveth”, episode 10 of Agents of SHIELD season 3. The first half of this season comes to a dramatic conclusion that brings the Grant Ward versus Phil Coulson story to it’s inevitable end. Brett Dalton’s Grant Ward has gone from SHIELD golden boy to Hydra bad boy and it looks like he is ready for another amazing turn. As Fitz tries to find them all a way off the alien blue planet, Mack has taken over as Director and leads the Secret Warriors and the rest of the SHIELD team on a mission to save them all. There was a lot to love in this episode and we are chatting about it all in this extra long ninety minute episode! Check out the podcast below and show notes after the jump We love to hear from you. This weeks Agents of Steranko podcast dives into “Closure”, episode 9 of Agents of SHIELD and we were floored. From the shocking start to Coulson pretending he is Captain American leaping without a parachute, this lead up to the mid-season finale never slowed down. Neither of us were thrilled with Ward and his latest victim, and it sent Coulson off the rails. But we can’t wait to see what happens as Coulson and Ward face off on the alien planet as if they are Kirk and the Gorn.
