A man who's running 32 marathons in Ireland to raise awareness of a rare, early onset dementia will be in Killarney this Sunday. Jordan Adams' late mother Geraldine was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia when she was 47 years old. Jordan and his brother Cian carry a family mutation which means they have a 99.9% chance of contracting the brain disorder. Frontotemporal dementia often starts between ages 45 and 65.

Her treatment journey lasted more than two years, filled with both physical and emotional pain. But instead of letting the experience break her, she found a way to grow through it. She used that chapter of her life not only to heal herself, but to guide and support others walking the same difficult road.Abirami is a full-time employee at Microsoft, a wife, andthe mother of two kids. Despite such a full life, she still makes time to uplift and empower others. Through Facebook support groups like Breast Cancer Survivors and Warriors and Washington Breast Cancer Survivors, she helps survivors feel seen, heard, and supported.She also advocates for organizations like DiepCFoundation.org, helping patients navigate one of the toughest battles of their lives. And by collaborating with the Flute ‘n Feather Dance Company, she raises funds to support early breast cancer diagnosis in rural India.But there's still more: Beyond all this, Abirami finds timeto organize confidence-building photoshoots to help survivors rediscover their strength and beauty.She leads “Breast Cancer Awareness Talks and Campaigns” at Microsoft, and has also raised funds for the National Breast Cancer Association by placing Group 2nd on FabOver40. Abirami has been honored with many awards and titles thatcelebrate her confidence and compassion. These aren't just pageant wins — they're platforms she uses to raise awareness, encourage self-love, and inspirehope in other survivors. Crystal Conroy's son Ashton was diagnosed with a very rare form of Pediatric Leukemia known as Acute MegaKaryblastic Leukemia or AMKL in March of 2024 when he was 10 1/2 months old. Ashton has been at Boston Children's Hospital for the past 65 days along with Crystal as the goal is to get him to remission so that he would be able to receive a Bone Marrow Transplant. That goal has not been reached and in fact, his doctors just confirmed that Ashton has had a relapse.

Melissa Nowicki's 3 year old son Brock was diagnosed with a Pediatric Brain cancer known as CIC-DUX4 Fusion Sarcoma in April of 2023. Both his surgery to remove his tumor and his follow up scans were perfect as 100 percent of his tumor was removed and there was no spreading of his disease. Brock is now 4 years old, was honored by the New England Revolution Professional Soccer team at Cancer Awareness Night on September 28th, and is doing well health wise.

Alex joins David Rintell, Head of Patient Advocacy at BridgeBio, and Mandy Rohrig, Director of Patient Advocacy at BridgeBio Gene Therapy, to speak about her son, Hudson. Before Hudson's birth, Alex and her husband learned that Hudson would be born with hypochondroplasia. A genetic counselor helped her to understand the diagnosis. Although Alex is a medical professional, she had never heard of this condition, and the many unknowns of this new diagnosis left Alex feeling scared. However, all these fears were put aside when she held Hudson for the first time. At five days old, Hudson had breathing problems and Alex had to perform CPR on him. Hudson was later diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea and needed to be on oxygen therapy. Alex describes the learning curve that she and her husband experience as they learned to care for Hudson and anticipate some of his early medical needs. Now at 20-months-old, Hudson is a happy little boy who loves to read, walk, and babble, and is adored by his older sister. Teja Reddi, Ph.D., a Senior Director of Strategy and Operations of Skeletal Dysplasias at BridgeBio, explains that although hypochondroplasia is a milder form of dwarfism than achondroplasia, the condition can cause some medical complications. Hypochondroplasia is a skeletal dysplasia characterized by short stature; stocky build; disproportionately short arms and legs; broad, short hands and feet; mild joint laxity; and macrocephaly. Teja also talks about the challenges of underdiagnosis and the hope for more research to improve the lives of people with hypochondroplasia.
