Rhonda has been my friend for many years, and we've reconnected through her frequent visits to Tennessee. In this conversation, Rhonda shares the story of her firstborn, daughter, Lacy who died at 30 years old after a struggle with opioid addiction. Through the tragic loss of her daughter, Rhonda has learned what it means to really trust God. She challenges us to give up the control we think we have to the One and Only who truly knows what is best and how to accomplish it. "Be in agreement with Me." What Rhonda heard God say to her while standing in the yard outside her daughter's apartment the morning she discovered she had died. "People need to go to heaven and we need to help them get there." That's all the really matters here. "People are so full of nonsense! Stop worrying about all the other stuff."

This episode highlights the point that emotional abuse in relationships cannot coexist in the same space as love. A person's consistent behaviour is indicative of their intentions and is a reflection on them. How they consistently treat you says everything. If they repeatedly go back to old toxic behaviour patterns, if the relationship constantly feels exhausting or toxic then chances are it will continue to be like this for as long as the relationship exists. If they show you love intermittently then that's a narrative they create to keep you attached. Love and abuse do not and cannot coexist in the same space. This episode answers the question 'why is it so hard to leave a toxic relationship?' Please note that as relationship dynamics are complex, and can vary from relationship to relationship; the information given is not necessarily tailored to your specific situation. There will be more layers that could be unpacked that could help you identify more information and give you further clarity on your situation. Working with a trauma informed therapist/ coach could help you achieve that. My aim with this episode, and my podcast in general, is to help raise awareness based on my knowledge and experience. This episode focuses on the bodycam footage (both of them, found on YouTube) that shows the interaction between Gabby Petito, Brian Laundrie and the police officers who stopped them because they were speeding, then the van hit a kerb. Upon getting closer to the van, Gabby was seen in a heightened emotional state, visibly distraught. Gabby Petito was reported missing within days of this incident, and eventually her body remains were found. Brian had returned home in the van, refused to cooperate with the police about her being missing, then he disappeared before her body was found. He's currently the prime suspect in her murder. At the time of me publishing this episode, Brian is still on the run and the events that led to Gabby's death still unclear. This episodes focuses on reflecting over lessons that relationships teach us (in this episode I refer to relationships with highly narcissistic individuals but of course it can also apply to relationships in general). It's important to reflect on any 'good' things to come out of the experience (kids, change in line of work, or something else), as well as to recognise the 'bad' and the 'ugly' which are the behavioural patterns that are experienced within this type of relationship dynamic as well as the impact it has on us.
