For our fifth edition of the Equilibrisme Podcast Series we proudly present you Berlin-based Thailander Pakkadej on the decks. With a keen ear and a back catalogue of his own musical production, Pakkadej journeyed from the steamy streets of Chiang Mai Thailand to pursue his love of electronic music. Pakkadej spent ten years spinning tunes in London and is now based in Berlin, Germany. Pakkadej first encountered electronic music as a youth in Thailand, sparking a life-long love affair. Chasing the sound across the seas, Pakkadej moved to London, UK, and after spending most of his days holed up with nothing but his turntables and record box for company, he got his first big break at Brick Lane’s Exit Bar and shortly after this he was made resident DJ at TSQ Bar Putney. From 2005 to 2014 Pakkadej entertained the masses at TSQ every weekend, but he continued to play on the London DJ circuit. In 2008 Pakkadej became a resident at 54 Bar Commercial Street playing the finest minimal in his weekly Sunday slot, while also making regular appearances across the club scene at venues such as Egg London, Rhythm Factory, Dropeast Bar, Apples & Pears, and Inigo Bar. In the summer of 2012 Pakkadej rocked the main stage at the massive Festa della Musica in Milan, Italy. In 2014 Pakkadej followed his passion to Berlin, home of techno, and became a regular face behind the decks at renowned musical hotspot Heinz Schüftan in Neukölln, appearing frequently on line ups for the Chapeau Klack Friday parties. Since then Pakkadej has joined line ups for the Berlin chapter of the underground Toronto party crew, Box Of Kittens, and for the record label Pfand at their legendary annual Amsterdam off-ADE boat parties. In Berlin Pakkadej can be found bringing his sound to discerning Berlin clubbers in the party capital of the world at establishments such as Club de Visionare, Griessmühle, Nirgendwo, Nachbeben, Tante Ema, Böhmisches Dorf, Minimal Bar, and artist residence Greenhouse. Whenever he's back in town, Pakkadej plays at Cafe CMBC Thailand and Warm Up Cafe in his hometown of Chiang Mai. Pakkadej's productions have been released on Astelagüel, Opensource Records and Cinetique Recordings. Recorded for Equilibrisme in Berlin in 2019, vinyl only ! Enjoy the ride! links: https://www.facebook.com/Pakkadej/ https://soundcloud.com/pakkadej

Yowzers thias week we have another returning legendary guest to the show ready to serve up another mix of fine cuts & exquisite sounds to satisfy the most delicate of house pallets the smooth sounds of Mr Cook https://www.mixcloud.com/DJMRCOOK/ a name whos been on the scene for a long time a seriously heavyweight dj with a selection second to non who also hosts his fantastic sunday flex show on the legendary HouseFM.Net (Official) Mr Cook's love for music started at an early age. As soon as he thought he looked old enough he was out clubbing! At the tender age of 14 he attended his first rave and, like many kids his age he hung aro...und with, he knew this was the start of something very exciting. Sure enough, a friend had arranged tickets for him to the legendary Dance 91 at Pickets Lock. Prodigy performed live that night and ‘Charley' became the tune that stuck in his head. There was a real awakening that night for Ben and the very next day he decided that house music was where his heart would take him. To this day he insists that, that night changed his life. When the hardcore rave sound morphed and became a new genre called Drum & Bass Mr Cook's true musical taste began to unravel. Over time the D&B sound became darker and raving more dangerous, so Mr Cook would spend more time listening to the US garage and UK house sound older friends listened to. He went to Ibiza in 1994 with seven mates on a typically mad club 18-30 holiday and the Balearic house sound grabbed a hold of his soul! Back in London he took up DJing and started clubbing again at The Epping Forest Country Club which became his clubbing home up until its closure in 2002! In the early part of 1999 Cooky (as he is known to his mates) gained a residency on Saturday night's at a wine bar in Chingford, Essex. He started appearing on the east London based Shine FM pirate radio station. He would play soulful D&B and old skool house and garage with a couple old pals and they became the Out Cry Syndicate. The OCS express became essential listening for the local raver's on the manor. Ben fell in love with the whole pirate radio way of life and would spend up to 10 hours sometimes in the studio. The show eventually gained respect from the other people involved at the station and got great feedback from the public. Shine FM boosted his profile and soon enough Mr Cook was asked to play at the now infamous Sunshine Daze at the Scala, Kings Cross in London. Those series of parties sold out each time and Mr Cook became an in demand name on the scene in east London. He was also asked to play at the Warehouse in Edmonton & Faces nightclub in Essex. He was asked to play at the legendary BIG parties held by Ford house, the notorious after parties which ran from 5am until 3pm. After that, The Waterfront in Canary Wharf became the only place to be on Sunday nights and ran until 2am Monday morning… Ambition led him to move to another pirate station and after appearing for a while on Passion FM, the legendary Centreforce had reformed and was returning to broadcast underground music to the east London populace. He took up the challenge of Saturday's and would play marathon sets through out the night and sleepless weekend's DJing at BIG. When Centreforce decided to push for a legal license Cooky joined RINSE FM on Saturday nights appearing from 12midnight until 2am.from 2009 to 2012! Mr Cook has played at the world famous Fabric,Ministry of Sound, Hidden @ studio 33, The Scala, Seone, The Rhythm Factory, Herbal and Aquarium in Shoreditch, Last year he appeared on his first foreign DJ experience at the Beachlent event in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Mr Cook has the bug and his music can only be described as QUALITY UNDERGROUND! The world better take a listen… need i say any more come join us on Deepvibes Radio this sunday 3-5pm for some more house worship :) MR SHADOW
Producer and DJ Tony Holden is playing Deep House, Tech House and Techno. He played in London clubs such as Ministry of Sound, Egg, Nomad, Rhythm Factory, Lightbox, Brixton Jamm and many more. After spending some time in New York City, Tony Holden returned to London and felt the sounds of the Jungle and started to play in clubs. He got into the UK Garage scene and set up his own Radio with fellow DJ’s and MC’s in 1997. The love for House music was always there and funny enough the scene has evolved back to it again. Once the lead guitarist of Colombo based progressive jazz-rock band 'Powercut Circus', Asvajit has made a name for himself as one of the most respected and forward thinking electronic musicians to emerge out of post-war Sri Lanka. Apart from producing solid dancefloor bangers and whipping ravers into a frenzy, Asvajit is also a professional book designer, Ableton Live instructor and founder of Sri Lanka’s first independent underground record label, Jambutek Recordings. As well as this, he's also the co-founder and driving force behind the underground electronic music collective Bang Bang which has hosted a variety of events across Sri Lanka since 2010. In short, he's a bit of a Sri-Lankan legend. Playing at some of the island’s largest events, Asvajit has built a healthy following around his own original compositions as well as his energetic DJ sets which feature a broad range of genres ranging from dub techno right through to tech, house, dub, reggae, nu-jazz, funk, electro-swing and even hip-hop. Don't be fooled either. Asvajit is an international performing artist in high demand. Over the years he's played at London's Koko, Egg, Rhythm Factory and Nooned as well as Unbox Festival in New Delhi, now defunct Kater Holzig (Berlin), Fusion Festival (Larz) and Worldtronics Festival at the iconic Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin. He's our #079. Clocking in at just over 60 minutes, the mix starts slow, gradually warming up proceedings by thickening the percussion and slowly migrating towards more kicking house and techno sounds. This path however is filled with long, loping twists and turns, as Asvajit is far too skilled a DJ to get bogged down in any particular groove. After all, he's had his fair share of hours in the club, and is clearly capable of putting all of that experience to good use. For a tracklist and further info, head over here: http://www.thewildcity.com/EN/music.xhtml/article/6047-wild-city-079-asvajit

Things are really heating up here at camp NR. Just under 4 weeks to go and we continue our podcast series with none other than Le Jockey. Johny Davies aka Le Jockey: Johny has been producing music for a few years now, but has been involved in music since his childhood. He is extremely competent on the violin and percussion and when he was a child was head chorister of Jesus College Chapel Choir. These days Johny mainly focuses on writing electronic music and has had releases on a string of record labels. He has featured in iDJ magazine and on the cover CD of their July issue. His productions have recieved critical acclaim from artists such as Tim Sheridan, Mark-Henning, Luke Solomon, Massimo Licari and Ed Davenport to name a few and receive regular club play across europe. 2009 looks set to be busy for John with dates confirmed already in Bristol, Bournemouth and London throughout the year and releases on Beiak records and Fullbar Digital coming up over the next months. With a new residency at Rhythm Factory along with DJ Largo and Alex Sullivan for their Beiak Records label party London is a regular fixture for Johny in 2009. The backbone of Johnys work has to be his somewhat unique approach to his Live PAs. Taking music in its component loops and using Ableton to arrange and structure them live at the same time manipulating the loops through chains of effects results in the music being constructed live in front of the audience all in real time. For his appearance on the RIPEcast this week, Ali B pays homage to AfrikaBurn, a regional Burning Man event in Tankwa, South Africa, where he'll be playing April 25th-30th. Safe travels, Ali B, and thanks for the fabulous RIPEcast! A little more background on this week's distinguished guest.. You can catch Ali B hosting Saturday nights at West London’s ‘Paradise’ where his legendary 5 hour sets seamlessly take in everything from blues and funk to rock, soul, dub, disco and beyond, captured on his ever popular series of ‘Oh Shit!’ mix tapes and ‘Airpod’ podcasts. His latest productions include remixes for the likes of Fort Knox Five and collaborations with Nick Thayer on the mighty Bombstrikes label. With an eclectic and varied music industry background spanning nearly two decades, Ali B has a broad sense of musical appreciation, coupled with an intuitive feel for the dance-floor which has seen him hold down DJ residencies at London’s two most influential venues. After making his mark at the legendary Blue Note club, he then went on to become the resident DJ for Fabric where he’s been since the day it opened, releasing one of the first albums in their legendary mix CD series. He has also extensively toured Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Asia, Africa and the US. Ali B spent his teens working for the Acid Jazz record label followed by several years in Public Relations, representing the likes of Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay and Pete Tong. He went on to host a weekly radio show on Capital FM for five years, followed by 5 years on Kiss FM alongside regular appearances on stations including BBC 6 and Ministry Of Sound Radio. He has also made several appearances on British television for the likes of MTV, ITV and Channel 4. Ali B’s infamous Air parties have been running since the mid nineties at venues across London, including The Blue Note, 333, Mass, Electrowerkz, Rhythm Factory, Cargo and Matter as well as hosting arenas at festivals such as Glastonbury, Global Gathering, Hi-Fi and Australia’s Future Music Festival. Ali B’s Air Recordings record label covers a wide range of leftfield sounds. Releases have included Finish electro breaks duo Mr Velcro Fastener, US stalwarts Tony Faline and DJ Love, the UK’s Will Saul (with Ursula Rucker), Jellybass, Janette Slack, Diverted, Lazersonic, Franci$co and Mr No Hands, alongside Ali B himself who’s track with The Jungle Brothers propelled Air Recordings into the major league. ‘Beats On A String’ was play-listed on BBC 6 in the UK and Australia’s national Triple J radio station. Alongside remixes for the likes of Positiva, Multiply, Sony and Cheeky, Ali B has also released mix albums for Fabric, Y4K, Godskitchen and his own Air Recordings label. Ali B is widely regarded as the DJs DJ, as comfortable at the controls of clubs such as Fabric playing a heady mix of cutting edge bass and beats as he is digging for rare 7’s to play one of his exclusive party sets. He is regularly in demand at high profile events such as Vancouver’s Winter Olympics, Abbey Road Studios with Mark Ronson, numerous film wrap parties, various private members clubs such as Bungalow 8 & Dover Street Arts Club and celebrity events which in the last 12 months have included Mick Hucknall’s 50’th birthday party and Gary Barlow’s wedding anniversary. He is happiest travelling the world and seeking out intrepid party locations such as Afrikaburn in the Karoo desert, Burning Man in the US or Lake Of Stars in Malawi, catch him while you can… For a little more background on AfrikaBurn, check out these videos Ali B shot at last year's event: http://www.youtube.com/user/airrecordings Or visit www.afrikaburn.com.
