8 Movies again, annnnnnnd here goes.
1. (Halls of Anger 1970) Calvin Lockhart, a young Jeff Bridges and Janet MacLachlan star in this serious look at racism and teaching. Ed Asner makes yet another appearance too.
2. (Skin Game 1971) Same director here as the first movie. Rockford Files and Iron Eagle star with Mom from Webster in yet another film having a heavy dialogue about racism. This one tries to Trojan horse it in with some comedy, does it work, let's see. Oh look, Ed Asner.
3. (Aaron loves Angela 1975) Where the heck is Ed Asner, sigh. Gordon Parks jr. directs this rad 70's film lookin at young love and race, using Romeo and Juliet as a basic template. Irene Cara is in the house.
4.(Hard Times 1975) Warriors director Walter Hill is here, making a film where James Coburn needs to not gamble so much, damn, There's Charles Bronson and boxing too. Bronson is glowing and so expressive, an amazing on screen presence, NOT. 5. (Special Day 1977) Oh my, Italian cinema can be tricky, at least the 70's Italian films that we have seen which are few, but whoa, tricky is a too nice way of saying there's disgusting treatment of women in these films. This film, though not perfect, is an exception, and with some unexpected queer content. Sophia Loren is here, as well as Marcello Mastroianni (who appears to be in every Italian film ever) oh also the dean from Animal House. Special Day is directed by Ettore Scola. Pretty epic stuff.
6.(Skateboard the movie 1978) Silly, dumb, quickly made cash grab about Skateboarding, that I really like and even own the soundtrack. If you like the subject, and fun B movies, this is a win for me, let us tell you all about it. You might have more fun listening with the commentary track on, which means you'd have to buy it, and if yer that interested, you probably already have it. Teen heart throb Leif Garret is here and is the only one who can't skate great. Here also is Kathleen Lloyd of The Car.
7. (The Outsider 1979) Heavy film here about the troubles. It sure got some great images on film in Northern Ireland. Brits out!
8. (Penitentiary 1979) This is final film of rad director Jamaa Fanaka that we get to review. Here Sweet Pea tries to survive prison. Please see also Emma Mae 1976.
ok enjoy the show, thanks for listening.

Now, he's got three days to live, and Doug will gain the Obi Wan wisdom of Chappy (Louis Gossett Jr.). With the aid of all of Doug's friends, some light hacking, moving some F-16s and rockets around, they forge a friendship and a rescue plan that just might work. Also, all of this is extremely illegal and seems unlikely. But, hell, it's time to fly like an eagle. An iron eagle! RTS strap reel-to-reel tape decks to their legs, and they let the rock flow. The Joint Readiness Training Center is pleased to present the seventy-seventh episode to air on ‘The Crucible - The JRTC Experience.' Hosted by the CSM Erik Burris, the Task Force Senior Enlisted Observer-Coach-Trainer for TF Aviation on behalf of the Commander of Ops Group (COG). Today's guest is COL Nicholas Ploetz, Commander of the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division.   The 4th Combat Aviation Brigade (4th CAB) of the 4th Infantry Division (4th ID) has a storied history that reflects its commitment to supporting ground forces and adapting to evolving combat demands. First activated as the 4th Aviation Company, 4th Infantry Division, at Fort Lewis, Washington on 1 April 1957. They were relocated to Fort Hood (now Ft. Cavazos), Texas in 1995, the 4th CAB rapidly established itself as a formidable aviation force within the division, providing critical air support and mobility. They were later relocated to Ft. Carson, Colorado in 2011. Over its deployments to Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, the brigade demonstrated resilience and tactical versatility, embodying the 4th ID's legacy of “Steadfast and Loyal.” Their ethos is embedded in the brigade's dedication to mission support, whether through reconnaissance, assault, or medevac capabilities, earning it a respected place within the U.S. Army's aviation and combat support structure. They have the Hollywood call-sign of “Iron Eagle,” the nickname of “Ivy Eagles,” and the brigade's motto of “Vigilantia Aeterna” or “Eternal Vigilance.”   In this episode we discuss best practices for effective planning and employment of a combat aviation brigade during large scale combat operations. In LSCO, two core principles emerge as essential for the CAB: standardization in operations and clarity in staff roles and responsibilities. First, standardizing critical elements such as FARPs (Forward Arming and Refueling Points), logistics, and sustainment processes across the CAB enables rapid, adaptable responses to evolving battle conditions. For example, a standardized FARP setup ensures that refueling and resupply can occur with minimal disruption, allowing aviation assets to remain in the fight without delays. This standardization enhances synchronization between the CAB and other units, like the various brigades within the DIV it supports, ensuring timely, mutually reinforcing actions. By embedding standardized protocols, planners can build in contingencies that maintain mission continuity, even when the order or operational environment shifts unexpectedly.   Equally important is cultivating a proficient and well-coordinated staff structure. Clear roles and responsibilities within the CAB's staff, supported by a rigorous adhered standard operating procedures, are crucial for effective planning and swift decision-making under pressure. Regular military decision-making process repetitions, as observed in training rotations, allow staff members to refine their roles, improving their readiness to tackle complex, high-tempo operations. When staff roles are well-defined and thoroughly rehearsed, the CAB can execute plans more efficiently, maintaining the flexibility needed for fast-paced combat demands. This clarity in structure not only ensures internal cohesion but also strengthens the CAB's ability to synchronize with division-level goals and respond to DIV support needs effectively.   Together, these practices enable the CAB to operate as a cohesive, agile force that can adapt to and shape the battlefield. Through disciplined standardization and clear, well-rehearsed staff coordination, the CAB is better equipped to deliver sustained support, anticipate operational needs, and reinforce the broader mission objectives in large-scale combat scenarios.   Part of S08 “The Aviator's Corner” series.   For additional information and insights from this episode, please check-out our Instagram page @the_jrtc_crucible_podcast   Be sure to follow us on social media to keep up with the latest warfighting TTPs learned through the crucible that is the Joint Readiness Training Center.   Follow us by going to: https://linktr.ee/jrtc and then selecting your preferred podcast format.   Again, we'd like to thank our guests for participating. MIke's audio starts out trash for 3 minutes, then all systems are normal. Have no fear! Cinema 9 did a movie called The Island last week. Everybody was pissed. Louis Gossett Jr. bit the big one recently, but apparently there will be no Iron Eagle series marathon going down. Govier's mom's boyfriend from 1988 had an ancient sundial in his yard plus he wanted to be a swashbuckling pirate like Errol Flynn. You guys go Joe Lowry or Joe Yori? Which movies do you own outright in your Amazon video library? Govier has 12 or so in his library as the guys review Mike's library. Did Govier overdraft his bank account to purchase the 1993 rollerblading classic Airborne. Tom Green is in town just in time for opening day in Detroit while Tim Robinson is also doing a live show the same day. Get ready for some John Tesh Roundball Rock! Carrot Top is apparently tailor made for Eyes Wide Shut parties. Govier provides a quick appraisal of the hotels of downtown Detroit. One story didn't go too well for him. What's the better show: Detroiters or I Think You Should Leave? We got your emails! Travis from Cinema 9 & 93-94 A Music Pod kicks it off. Travis was there in the 90's, but he wants to know what type of animal all the guys would like to be if they could. Plus it's time for another round of name that random guy from Hartland High School in 1997 who had a pointless nickname like Horse. Get ready for Uncle Luke & some Doo Doo Brown coming your way! YouTube etiquette when it comes to liking or subbing videos is a thing. Luke has a problem with Sand Cranes. The adventures of Finn Gurrer continue! Where will Finn take us this week? That's what you're about to find out. Kirk Cousins or Finn's cousins? Steve has your upcoming 2024 solar eclipse report for those of you in the United States who want to catch a glimpse of this unique event. Steve is our astronomer of record. If he doesn't know, ask Google. Mike reminisces about the 1994 eclipse that his science class went outside to see in May of 1994. Steve also has thoughts on the new True Detective, including the music choices. Of course we couldn't end the show without sneaking in more Israeli/Palestinian murderous chaos. 7 members from chef Jose Andres charity called World Central Kitchen were targeted with drone strikes by the IDF & Jose Andres is furious about it. We love you all! This talk show is not the same without you listening and emailing us your highly entertaining thoughts. We close the show with I'll Bear by Car Colors.
