In this episode, I am talking to Samantha Martin, founder of the Femmish organization. Samanatha uses research to bring awareness around femme phobia- the systematic devaluing of femininity that people engage in when they police feminine qualities in others. This is an excellent conversation about how the world looks down on most things feminine and refuses to allow people assigned male at birth to embrace anything feminine but yet expects women to embrace femininity only to use it as a launching point of degradation. We discuss: The Femish Organization The double standard of femininity vs. masculinity Trusting other people's experiences The devaluing of feminine professions Toys from the Pink aisle The value of research Energetic Indie Rock by LesFM | https://lesfm.net/rock-background-music/ Music promoted by https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/ Creative Commons CC BY 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Episode 92 | "Leave the party, go back to heaven!" In this riveting episode of REMelations, we delve deep into the dreamscape with a collection of stories that'll make you question reality itself. First off, we explore a bone-chilling nightmare from Samantha. Picture a family BBQ with an unexpected guest – a deceased grandma. Just when you think things couldn't get stranger, a non-verbal monster turns this family gathering into an experience that's equal parts terrifying and surreal. But that's not all. Our listeners have shared their nocturnal narratives and they're a wild ride. There's the dream about eyebrows curiously growing over nipples - a disorienting fusion of body parts that'll make you squirm. Then we journey into an imaginative fantasy featuring an edible Disneyland/McDonald's parade float. Next, we'll touch on claustrophobic fears, manifested in dreams about being locked in a mall and a bakery. From the delightfully bizarre to the downright eerie, we take a turn into the underworld with a dating show featuring none other than the devil himself. Rounding out our dream diary, we delve into a disturbing scenario where comedian Will Farrell takes a slightly creepy role. Finally, as we emerge from the dreamscape, we return to reality with Mindy's awe-inspiring story. She shares her close encounter with an EF-1 tornado, which, in a turn of fate, spared her home from destruction despite its terrifying proximity. And to wrap up this thrilling episode, Brooke tackles a topic often shrouded in mystery and misconceptions. She takes us through eight common myths about wet dreams, also known as nocturnal emissions. Her enlightening discussion aims to demystify this natural phenomena, breaking down the barriers of awkwardness and replacing them with understanding. So, get ready for an episode filled with a blend of dread, wonder, reality, myths, and beyond in REMelations Episode 92 - where dreams take center stage, shedding light on the fascinating workings of the human mind. And the more we are able to dismantle or take out those things that we identify as being within our control, small things or bigger things, we are able to make more room for the inevitable.” (6:59) “Any symptom we have, any ill health we have, any imbalance we have, has an aspect of overwhelm to it. Because if the stress is more than our bodies, minds, and spirits can handle, that's how we experience overwhelm.” (13:08) “Overwhelm often manifests into physical symptoms and when we are able to pick that apart we allow room to get better, we allow room to create health and not just tolerate illness and imbalance.” (26:24) “The thing you are doing to take care of your overwhelm doesn't always need to be self-care and something that feels good. It's important to do those things also, but really looking at what is going to serve me the best big picture. What You’ll Hear in Today’s 15-Minute Huddle: Samantha shares how a perfect storm of emotions almost her to almost quit swimming (at just 14 years old) and how a moment in the car with her Mom helped her. Samanatha takes into the situation that created huge internal conflict for her and how it showed up in her swimming and in her behavior. She talks candidly about almost losing her daughter and how it cracked her wide open and forced her to look at herself in a very different way. We talk about why normalizing struggle is important. Samanatha has a fool proof way to get anyone to the ballet.
Kass unleashed a "chaos" virus after the merge and left many of us scratching our heads. At least one fan thinks she was on to a truly "calculated" move to get her to the end though. While many were sad to see Sarah go, most of us agreed that she had lost her luster earlier in the game and never recovered. Several questions remain as we head into the second half of the game. Who will find the TP idol, and will it's potential power change the course of the game for one castaway? Can anyone count on Kass in an alliance? Will she become this season's goat? Can the majority alliance hold it together long enough to "Pagong" Spencer, Tasha, Morgan and Jeremiah? All these variables are keeping it exciting, and we're very thankful to have a season with so many people that really want to play Survivor, and an edit that hasn't been spoiling the surprises! For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. Twenty fans shared their thoughts on episode 6 and predictions for what we'll see next. We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great Listener Feedback show. There is always the possibility of predictability when one alliance or tribe gains the upper hand after the merge, but that does not stop Survivor fans from finding interesting points to ponder for each episode. That is because we like to consider all the possibilities and the impact that different strategies might have. The Listener Feedback show this week, while shorter than normal, covers a lot of territory. Savaii's choices leading up to Cochran's flip and their post merge behavior continue to be hot topics. Upolu gets their fair share of scrutiny too. For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. Another great episode spawned a correspondingly excellent Listener Feedback show! Cochran's moves were, as expected, a hot topic of conversation. Quite a few people weighed in with some grudgingly acknowledged respect for Coach, although not everyone is willing to assign him full credit for flipping Cochran. Quite a few people pointed out how Savaii had, for the most part, brought this on themselves. We also got some great parallel comparisons to players and similar predicaments from past seasons. I really enjoyed the thoughts and question on jury management and the role of strategic gameplay versus social acceptance. For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. Episode 7 qualifies as the most controversial so far. The two returning players remain at the center of the controversy. Coach's over the top religious zealousness combined with his plot to deceive Brandon through prayer resulted in many fans calling him out as a hypocrite. The general, over abundance of religious content this season is wearing thin for many as well, regardless of their religious affiliation. Quite a few of you weighed in to rate Ozzy's bold play. Most of you think it was a poor strategic choice while acknowledging the potential to make history. Last but not least, Cochran is rapidly losing his fan base, but not all have given up on him, yet. For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game.
