The dead don't usually testify at their own murder trials, but in the smoke-stained alleys of Chicago, I learned that some victims refuse to let their killers walk free — even from beyond the grave.Watch the VIDEO VERSION of this episode: https://weirddarkness.com/noir-selfsolvingmurderTHE TRUE CRIME CASE THIS STORY IS BASED ON: In 1977, Teresita Basa, a 48-year-old respiratory therapist in Chicago, was found murdered in her burned-out apartment. Months later, police received a bizarre tip from a man claiming his wife, Remy Chua — who had briefly worked with Basa — was channeling messages from Basa's ghost during trances. According to the spirit, she had been murdered by a coworker named Allan Showery, who then staged the scene and stole her jewelry. Investigators followed the supernatural lead and discovered many details matched real evidence. Showery's girlfriend even confirmed he had given her Basa's jewelry. Confronted with mounting proof, Showery confessed to the crime. Despite the strange nature of the case, Teresita Basa became known as “the woman who solved her own murder from beyond the grave.ORIGINAL CASE SOURCES…https://www.ranker.com/list/teresita-basa-case/patrick-thorntonMusic provided by Alibi Music Library= = = = ="I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness." — John 12:46= = = = =WeirdDarkness® is a registered trademark. She was living her best life in America when one day someone betrayed and murdered her! The case would take a wild turn 6 months later when a couple claimed to know who killed Teresita, they said they knew this information because her spirit told them who did it! The extraterrestrial comedy podcast where we probe the solving of the February 1977 murder of Teresita Basa. This one is unusual because it was solved by Teresita herself. Yep. Teresita is alleged to have communicated through former co-worker Remi Chia, pointing the finger at hospital colleague Allan Showery. Yes, Teresita fingered the culprit to her own murder. Teresita, even identified evidence to prove her claims, through Remy. Was this one as it seems - a case of a spirit solving their own murder from beyond the grave? Or did Remi and husband Joe Chua know a little more than they let on and come up with a creative way to get this information to the police? Alongside that, information suggests that the MiB's may be targeting Mr Moonwalker at work under assumed identities… All that and more on this week's probe. February 21, 1977, Chicago, Illinois. Fire fighters and police are called to the scene of an apartment on fire. When they battle their way through the smoke on the 15th floor, they put out a blaze of clothing and a mattress. When police had zero leads, something supernatural happened. And Teresita took matters into her own hands. This is the bizarre and true story of Teresita Basa.

Teresita Basa was a Filipino girl born to an affluent family who was obsessed with music. She moved from the Philippines to London to continue her studies. She eventually made her way to the United States in Indiana to continue to pursue her musical career. After toiling around the music scene for a while she took a job at a hospital after moving to Chicago. She dated a few men and made some new friends. One night she was going to receive some help fixing her tv and then she was going to perform a show. BUT she never made it. She was murdered. BUT how this was solved, is insane. It involved a little help from beyond the grave!
Teresita Basa was the last person one would expect to be victim of a violent crime. However, on February 21, 1977, the fire department was called to put out a fire in her apartment. In the blaze, they found her nude body under a burning mattress with a butcher knife buried in her chest. With no real trace of evidence left behind, the only thing that could bring her murderer to justice were paranormal revelations. Upgrade your closet this summer with Quince. On the evening of February 21, 1977, Chicago firefighters responded to a call at the Pine Grove apartment complex. Once they'd extinguished the fire, they discovered the nude body of forty-eight-year-old Teresita Basa with a kitchen knife protruding from her chest. The apartment looked as though it had been ransacked during the commission of what they assumed was a sexual assault or robbery gone wrong. With little evidence or leads to work from, Teresita's murder investigation quickly went cold. But then five months later, it seemed like it was Teresita herself who led investigators to discover the man who murdered her. What followed was a truly sensational investigation and trial where not only murder, but belief was up for debate.ReferencesBoston Globe. 1978. "Did Voice of the Dead Name Murderer?"
Teresita was a piano teacher, respiratory therapist, and overall a music lover - among many other things. In what started as a normal February day in 1977, Teresita had a colleague come over to help her fix her television. Again, a normal thing. However, this colleague would come up with a diabolical plan that ended Teresita's life tragically. But, Teresita's spirit remained active despite her no longer being physically around. Her spirit was so active, that she may have solved her own death from beyond the grave. Tune in to learn more. Need a distraction? I got you. Hello and welcome back! In today's story, we talk about the strange case of Teresita Basa. When 47-year-old Teresita Basa was found murdered in her Chicago apartment, police were left with nearly no evidence that they could use to solve the crime. After a few short months, the case ran cold. But soon after, a very unique tip would come in. A couple claimed that the spirit of Teresita Basa had come to them and told them how to find the killer. But that begs the question: is this even possible? Let's chat about it, but strap in. This one's a doozy!SOURCES:https://pastebin.com/a5ZHTGq0Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/this-ones-a-doozy/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Abby tells the story of Teresita Basa, a story where paranormal and true crime meet and a voice from the grave may have solved a cold case. Teresita Basa was a respiratory therapist at Edgewater Hospital outside of Chicago Illinois just living a normal quiet life. That is until she was found naked, stabbed to death and burned in her own apartment. Who would want to do such a thing to a quiet woman with a soft heart? The police have no leads, until months later when they receive a tip from Teresita herself...but how is this possible? She has been deceased for nearly 6 months. In mid July 1977, a 38 year old woman was sitting in her living room talking to her husband, when suddenly, mid-sentence, she stood up, and said very robotically, that she was going to go lie down for a while. Then she turned and walked away into a nearby bedroom. Sensing something was off with his wife, the husband followed her… What he would see, and hear, in that bedroom over the next 30 minutes, would not only scar him for life, but would also become some of the most infamous evidence ever used by police in a real murder investigation. For 100s more stories like this one, check out my YouTube channel just called "MrBallen" -- https://www.youtube.com/c/MrBallenIf you want to reach out to me, contact me on Instagram, Twitter or any other major social media platform, my username on all of them is @MrBallenSPOILERS BELOW THIS POINT:....Main Sources:Magazine:Ebony magazine June 1978: Accused of murder by a voice from the grave, by reporters John O'Brien and Edward Baumann who covered the story and later wrote full length book titled Teresita, the Voice from the Grave: The Incredible But True Story of how an Occult Vision Solved the Murder of Teresita Basahttps://books.google.ca/books?id=CM4DAAAAMBAJ&lpg=PA56&dq=allan%2Bshowery%2Bjob%2Bedgewater&pg=PA26#v=onepage&q=allan+showery+job+edgewater&f=trueInternet Archive:Haunted detectiveChicago's haunt detective : a cop's guide to supernatural Chicagoby Johnson, Raymond, 1966-Publication date 2011Topics Haunted places, Ghosts, Ghosts, Haunted placesPublisher Atglen, PA : Schiffer Pub. Whether or not you believe in ghosts, these statements turned out to be true, leading to the conviction of 32 year-old Allen Showers. But what's the real story? Was this justice beyond the grave or beyond the law? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
