Join LatterGayStories for a black-tie art gayla! In 2014, the Mormon church stopped printing The Miracle of Forgiveness. By 2015 they began removing copies from their bookstore shelves at Deseret Book. Even though the printed version was culled, Deseret Book continued to sell digital-download copies of the book online. In 2021, LatterGayStories started the #TrashTheStash movement, encouraging its audience to remove copies of The Miracle of Forgiveness from bookshelves, home libraries, church buildings, and thrift stores. In the first year, our audience removed nearly 6,000 copies of the book, an undertaking that was documented every Thursday on the LatterGayStories Facebook and Instagram pages. https://www.eventcreate.com/e/miracle-of-forgiveness-art Now in its second year, we have collected over 8,000 copies of The Miracle of Forgiveness. On December 31, 2021, Deseret Book quietly deleted the online version of The Miracle of Forgiveness from their platform, thus ending the availability to purchase the book through official LDS sources. Reining since 1969 and selling more than 2,2 million printed and digital copies, the book is now fully discontinued. What do we do with 8,000 copies of The Miracle of Forgiveness? We turn them into art! For the second year in a row, we are inviting artists to create art pieces using reclaimed copies of The Miracle of Forgiveness. The art created from these books tell a story of the its harmful rhetoric and through the art comes healing, progress, and the ability to thrive. JOIN US! September 16, 2023 | 7:00 PM at Trolley Square in Salt Lake City, for the black tie art gala! We will have an open art exhibit displaying the art, a cocktail hour with drinks, hor d'oeuvres, a short program, and a private concert featuring EJ Michels to end the evening. Dust off the formal wear and join us for an awesome night. Tickets are $35 | includes access to the exhibits, drinks, hor d'oeuvres, and the concert!

This Sunday was to be my guests’ debut at South by Southwest (SXSW), hosting a MeetUp titled, “Pushed Aside: Re-scripting Women 40+“. Coronavirus concerns canceled the event, but these firecracker leaders were not going to let that stop them from delivering their timely message about ageism in the workplace. You can still catch it online and in person in Denver. Barbara Brooks and Lupe Hirt are at the leading edge of discovering why women in their 40s, 50s and up are feeling undesired in the workplace, and discovering solutions as to how the culture can shift its view on it. They’ve also managed to create a remarkable sisterhood of support where they can hold space for, and hold up the mirror to, each incredible woman to remember how incredible they are and how badly we need to hear their voices. Check out this week’s conversation which goes deep and will no doubt inspire you. Bio: Link to Sunday’s meetup: https://www.linkedin.com/events/pushedaside-rescriptingwomen40-50/ Barbara Brooks, 53 is the founder and CEO of SecondAct|Women and a 26-year award-winning marketing and public relations professional. Barbara’s career took an eight-year detour into the broadcast world where she served as a senior sales and business development representative for I Heart Radio, CBS Radio and Gannett (9News) before returning to shopping malls. It was at that time that she became an accidental entrepreneur and in 2011, partnered with long-time business associate, Guadalupe Hirt, to start a marketing and PR agency delivering ‘social marketing’ with flair and savvy. Most recently, she launched SecondAct|Women – an organization set on disrupting ageism by reframing the narrative for women over 40 and 50+ are past their prime. In reality, it's quite the opposite. The new company provides a marketplace of curated elevate business and lifestyle events, content and resources to spur corporate careers, business owner ventures and big ideas of women over 40 and 50+. RoHa Brewing Project celebrates its three-year anniversary in April 2020. RoHa may be part of the new-brewery boom in Utah. But its brewer is no stranger to the state’s beer scene. Chris Haas — the Ha in RoHa — arrived in Utah 24 years ago to work for Squatters. Then he spent several years at Desert Edge Pub & Brewery in Trolley Square. That’s where he met Rob Phillips — the Ro in RoHa. Rob, an engineer by trade, attended a beer school event taught by Haas and asked the brewer if he needed any volunteers to help around the brewery. Haas said sure. Phillips showed up the next day — that was about 15 years ago now. And the rest, as they say, is history. A third partner — Josh Stern, affectionately known as “The Project” — is a real estate agent who sold Phillips his house when he moved to Utah. The two quickly became drinking buddies. Utah Beer News visited with Rob Phillips and Chris Haas to learn more about how the RoHa Brewing Project came to be and what the future holds for the Salt Lake-based brewery. During our conversation: We discuss the early days — the years of planning and plotting and why Haas describes Opening Day as “living inside a tornado.” We talk about certain decisions RoHa made initially that are paying off for the three-year-old brewery. They share thoughts on the beers available year-round and hint at a few that are in the works (including more in their seasonal lineup). And they each talk about their ultimate goal when it comes to RoHa Brewing Project long-term. Thanks to Rob Phillips and Chris Haas for taking the time to talk with Utah Beer News about RoHa Brewing Project. And thank you for listening. I hope you enjoy the episode. This conversation with Burkey as our guest lasts over 90 minutes but if you want the meat it comes between 12:59 and 13:04. It may be the most cynical podcast we have ever recorded. Here are some highlights:1) "InstaGram Influencer Executions live at Trolley Square, Friday Night at 7."2) "It wasn't chicken pox ... I think it was a sword."4) "The truth about HIIT: more work, less rest ... because when you rest it means you're lazy, and nobody likes a sloth ... the influence of morality on our point of view about exercise makes us misuse the means ... rest is lazy and work is great, work is moral ... Moral Superiority Interval Training" 5) "Nothing Christian happens after dark."
The evening of February 12, 2007, the Trolley Square Mall located in Salt Lake City Utah, was busy with shoppers and diners alike. The mall features an eclectic mix of restaurants and stores including Cabin Fever, a card and gift shop many shoppers were visiting in anticipation for Valentine’s Day. It was by all means an average Monday night for the popular mall.Music Credits:Andy G Cohen - Trophy EndorphinsSergey Cheremisinov - When You LeaveKai Engel - ChanceLee Rosevere - A Role In LifePhilipp Weigl - The Scent of CedarsLee Rosevere - I Thought Of PillsKai Engel - SalueKai Engel - MareKai Engel – MeeknessThe Minds Of Madness Theme Music – Duncan FosterAll music is used under an Attribution License - https://creativecommons.org/licenses/Music provided by George Cattapan - http://www.cattapanproductions.com/The Funkoars – Feel The MadnessUsed with Permission - http://goldenerarecords.com.au/ge/funkoars/Research & Writing - Megan HalbachSpecial Guests:Vickie WalkerFounder, Executive DirectorCircle The Wagonshttps://www.circle-the-wagons.org/Alaa AbraInternational Rescue Committeehttps://www.rescue.org/Barrett DodsPlease check out this episodes sponsors and help support our podcast:SimpliSafe - Order your SimpliSafe security system today at https://simplisafe.com/madness, and SimpliSafe will also donate one to a family in need. One Dollar – The new CBS All Access series.
