Tropical Storm Ida made landfall near Mobile, Alabama during the morning hours of November 10, 2009. According to the U.S. Minerals Management Service, about 30 percent of oil production in the Gulf was shut down on the 9 as Ida neared the Gulf Coast. Port Alabama, AL reported a wind gust of 62 mph while West Mobile, Al and Destin, FL had wind gusts of 43 mph as Ida came ashore. Soaking rain from Ida spread from Alabama into Southern Virginia and the Carolina's. The following are some daily rainfall records were set. But the biggest impact occurred because of those shutdown oil rigs causing the price of oil to spike for the next week or so as gasoline prices soared. Learn more about your ad choices. I had an awesome conversation with a good friend recently that I'll keep anonymous. He was struggling with anxiety around his lack of control. This is only a problem for him because he has the type of personality that thrives on being in control or at least the perception of it. This is what I mean when I use the word illusion. The conversation was deep and very therapeutic for both of us. We dove into so many topics including health, family, finances, and faith. As I took a giant step back from this conversation, I made 3 observations that I'd like to share.First, let me take you somewhere. I want you to think of a time in your life (and it may be right now) where you were up against it and literally could not get out on your own. Maybe it's a sick child or parent. Maybe you struggled severely with your health. Maybe it was such a lack of money that you saw no way out. Maybe it was a natural disaster like a hurricane, tornado, or earthquake. In each of these scenarios, all illusion of control is tossed out the window and every man, woman, and child resorts to getting on their knees and praying to the Almighty or whoever might be up there. They may believe that God is punishing them and they need to be forgiven. They may believe God is absent and doesn't care. They may just not know. But they are so helpless, that they're willing to pray, willing to try anything. Have you ever been there? I have three examples that involve the closest people in my life. Last year, I was wrapped up in 3 long-term hospital stays where I felt no control. My mom was suffering from Covid as a Type 1 diabetic. She wouldn't give her children access to the medical records and no one could visit during the pandemic. We were so helpless to get updates on her as endured over 2 weeks of life & death. She survived. Praise God! My mom lived! Both my grandparents passed away in 2020. I've given full eulogies on this podcast. They were my second parents who had a considerable part in raising me, especially my Pop-Pop. He was the father in my life to affirm me. He was the man that I wanted to perform for. My Nana was in the hospital for 7 days and my Pop was there for 26 days. In both cases, it was a roller coaster of good and bad news. Just when you think they're improving, another setback happens to push them further away from coming out. I felt helpless both times and both times they went to be with Jesus. My dad is bipolar and had a severe onset of depression and mania after his parents passed away. 2021 has been a nightmare with him, never knowing where he'd end up and when I'd get a call from a hospital or a coroner. At one point, he went missing for over 48 hours with no phone or car. No control. The last scenario happened a few nights ago. There was a severe flash flood in our area as a result of Tropical Storm Ida. We live in a flood plane with a large creek 100 yards from our back door.  The street is the highest point and our yard has a downgrade toward the creek. The water was pouring into our yard and driveway from the street and raised the water level to over 5 feet in our backyard. This is the storm I mentioned in the funny papers with the mouse. Yes, it was fun swimming with boogie boards in our backyard river. But I will tell you this. The water level crept from the creek to our back fence. Then it covered our fence and reached within 20 feet of our back door. This is a storm that tore roofs off homes and had catastrophic loss of life. Cars were swept away in some cases on road by the high speed currents. 55,000 lost power. It was scary. We had no control whether the water would continue to rise and flood our home and trap us in our house.  Read the rest of this article at the Smart Cleaning School website

In today's episode, I talk about a recent weather event that we experienced. Hurricane Ida ravaged New Orleans. Our thoughts and our prayers are with Louisiana and everyone that was affected in the South. But Hurricane Ida also made its way up to the East Coast.    As a result of massive change in our climate, we have seen a significant uptick in weather events across the country. When Hurricane Ida became Tropical Storm Ida and hit New Jersey, many people that I am personally connected to were adversely affected.    So, I wanted to record this episode to really talk about some of the higher-level strategic thoughts that a CEO of a law firm should really have in their mind for these types of events. Stay tuned for more! In this episode we discuss: Higher-level strategic planning around natural disasters in your business. Developing the mindset of a law firm owner. Considering the care that your team members need during weather events. Checking in on everyone's physical and emotional wellness. Knowing your business numbers and your business insurance policies in order to maintain your business and financial security. Having a recovery plan for potential decreased productivity and declining sales.   Allison Bio:   Allison C. Williams, Esq., is Founder and Owner of the Williams Law Group, LLC, with offices in Short Hills and Freehold, New Jersey. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, is Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney and is the first attorney in New Jersey to become Board-Certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in the field of Family Law.    Ms. Williams is an accomplished businesswoman. In 2017, the Williams Law Group won the LawFirm500 award, ranking 14th of the fastest growing law firms in the nation, as Ms. Williams grew the firm 581% in three years. Ms. Williams won the Silver Stevie Award for Female Entrepreneur of the Year in 2017.  In 2018, Ms. Williams was voted as NJBIZ's Top 50 Women in Business and was designated one of the Top 25 Leading Women Entrepreneurs and Business Owners. In 2019, Ms. Williams won the Seminole 100 Award for founding one of the fastest growing companies among graduates of Florida State University.   In 2018, Ms. Williams created Law Firm Mentor, a business coaching service for lawyers.  She helps solo and small law firm attorneys grow their business revenues, crush chaos in business and make more money.  Through multi-day intensive business retreats, group and one-to-one coaching, and strategic planning sessions, Ms. Williams advises lawyers on all aspects of creating, sustaining and scaling a law firm business – and specifically, she teaches them the core foundational principles of marketing, sales, personnel management, communications and money management in law firms.  Contact Info: Send a screenshot from the review to this  phone number:  908 292 3524 Contact Law Firm Mentor: Scheduler: https://meetme.so/LawFirmMentor     Snippets 00: 15: 25 (34 Seconds)  Because again, as a leader, like as, as a person, of course, you want to know that they're OK because you care about them as a person, but as a leader, you want to make sure that they are OK to ensure that, that they are really functioning the way that you want them to function, right? So this is not so that this is not a situation where someone is not expressing that they're not OK. And then you're thinking, OK, everything's hunky-dory and we're going to go back to business as usual and then that person just can't perform.

Warning: Explicit Conversations About Politics, Culture, & Sexuality As the Texas Taliban begin their crackdown on female sexuality, virtually outlawing a woman's right to choose with the help of a right-wing extremist Supreme Court, floods, fires and plagues rage—rather Biblically—while heavily armed, deeply confused, ammosexual incels roam the land, some in uniform, others not—shooting it up and beating the drums for war in the streets and overseas. Meanwhile, as we broadcast live from our beautiful little village of Bonoboville, the 20th anniversary of America's greatest unsolved mystery, 9/11, looms before us.  We also say farewell to the late great “Ed Asner: Man of Spunk & Socialism,” loveable curmudgeon star of “Lou Grant,” “Mary Tyler Moore,” “Up,” and more, seven-time Emmy and  Eugene V. Debs award winner, SAG Union President and courageous nemesis of Ronald Reagan. And we talk about how the new FX “Impeachment” movie might skewer Bill (again!) over consensual adult sex, victimize Monica (a co-producer) and reflect the “Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy” that Hillary warned us about, and that has since metastasized into leagues of ammosexual MAGAts spouting QAnonsense, at the highest and lowest levels.  We also take a call from Chris in New Jersey who praises Ed Asner's activism in the autism community and tells the harrowing tale of surviving the horrific floods of Tropical Storm Ida. So many sad, disturbing topics for this Love Train…  But it's also Labia Day 2021! Like a vibrant Georgia O'Keeffe pussy flower blooming in a toxic junkyard, Labia Day opens us to pleasure, giving us something beautiful to celebrate (as well as the great labia-loving, senior sex we had that morning), as we assess all the misery, insanity and sex-negativity that is now flooding, burning, drowning, droning and oppressing the world. So, if you're looking for sexy sex education, don't miss this week's throwback, our very first Labia Day in 2015 when, fed up with the Da Rich exploiting our labor, I decided to read between the lines—and lips—of Labor Day to find a similar, onomatopoetic, but far more suitable and bonoboësque name for this early September time off from the daily grind.  It's a celebration of female sexuality, but since labia can be transformed into testicles in trans men, this could be Testicle Day too, which takes me onto a tangent about testicles and testament having the same root that I'm sure all the testifying-on-their -testament, anti-abortion, anti-woman, anti-sex Bible thumpers appreciate. “Dubai Guy” on Reddit wishes us a “Happy Testicles Day,” one of many comments and questions on this ride through time on the Love Train.  Oh, and sorry for the video glitches on this one, but the audio is fine… and quite eargasmic!
