Tällä istunnolla vastataan ei vain yhteen vaan jopa kahteen teidän esittämään kysymykseen. Ensimmäinen kysymys kuuluu näin: Tehdäänkö testiautomaatio teknisen määrittelyn vai käyttötapausten pohjalta vai aivan joltain muulta pohjalta? Tähänkin, kuten moniin muihinkin kysymyksiin voidaan antaa yksi vastaus: Aloita loppu mielessä. Vastaus on suora, mutta ei niinkään yksinkertainen. Anan mielestä testausautomaatiossa yritetään osua liikkuvaan maaliin. Ja jotta tähän maaliin pystytään osumaan tänään ja myös tulevaisuudessa, tulee testausautomaatiota liikuttaa mukana. Luut ja koira on hieman tulenarka yhdistelmä. Ihmisillä on usein hyvinkin mustavalkoinen suhtautuminen. Joko luita pidetään koiralle ehdottoman tärkeinä, tai sitten huomattavan vaarallisina. Luut eivät ole oikein kumpaakaan, tai sitten ne ovat molempia. Mutta luut ovat kaikkea muuta kuin optimia ruokaa, sen sijaan ajanvietteenä niillä on tärkeäkin rooli. Plus on parempi, että koira jyystää luuta kuin sähköjohtoja, seinää tai omistajan kengät. Ruokana luiden ainoa rooli on antaa kalsiumia. Jos luuta miettii kalsiumin saantiin, niin annos on melkoisen pieni, gramma per painokilo riittää. Mutta se ei liity mitenkään kykyyn syödä luuta. Linjakysymykset ovat aina vaikeita, varsinkin jos rotu on jakautunut käyttöön ja näyttöön, mutta omassa kirjanpidossa käyttöjalostusta on se, kun vanhemmilla ja isovanhemmilla on käyttömeriittejä, joiden takia ne ovat jatkaneet sukuaan näyttelyjalostusta on vastaava, kun jalostus tapahtuu näyttelytulosten mukaan koti/seurakoira pennutusta on silloin kun mitään mitattavia meriittejä ei ole Se, että miten eri jalostuslinjat liittyvät luiden syömiseen, on hieman hämärää. Mutta kyse on siitä, että susien oletettu parempi kyky syödä luuta on lähinnä kuvitelmaa ja jos näin on, niin se johtuu vain siitä, että luita kestämättömät eivät jatka sukuaan, vaan kuolevat. Koira ja susi eivät ole hyeenoja, eikä niiden luontaisesti edes kuuluisi syödä luita ruokana ja nälkäänsä. Niiden kanssa voidaan kuluttaa aikaa ja leikkiä. Susi syö itseasiassa vähemmän isoja luita kuin koirat. Se johtuu vain siitä, että susilla ei ole aikaa jauhaa hirven reisiluuta kuukauden verran. Isojen luiden merkitys kotikoiralle on niiden kestävyys. Ei tarvitse antaa uutta luuta joka päivä, ei edes joka viikko. Reisi- ja sääriluiden käyttö perustuu silloin omistajan tarpeisiin, ei koiraan. Luiden järsiminen auttaa jonkun verrankin hammaskiveen, mutta suurempi merkitys on koiran rodulla ja verilinjoilla. Ei paimenten paremmat hampaat verrattuna kääpiöihin tai vinttikoiriin liity mitenkään luiden syömiseen. Siinä on kyse kuonon mallista. Luita parempia hampaiden puhdistajia ovat jäiset rustot sekä vesimärempi ruoka. Palaliha olisi arkiruokinnassa paras vaihtoehto, jos ei tarvitsisi miettiä hintaa ja saatavuutta. Hammaskiviongelma syntyy nimenomaan pehmeän mössöruokinnan takia, ei omistajan laiskuudessa pestä koiransa hampaita. Samaten pesu on aika turhaa, jos ruoka on koko ajan hammaskivelle altistavaa. Kuivamuonia syytetään usein hammaskivestä, mutta parhaimmillaan kuivamuonat kylläkin estävät suun ongelmia ja se tulee täysin mekaanisesta vaikutuksesta. Kannattaa myös muistaa, että jauhelihaa syövillä koirilla on vähintään yhtä paljon hammaskiveä. Luiden ja palalihan vaikutukset hampaiden huoltajana saa yhdistettyä esimerkiksi broilerin koipireisillä. Koira saa käyttää purukalustoaan ja samalla saadaan jonkun verran lihaa ruuaksi ja luumateriaalia vastukseksi. Jäteille saattaisi olla kokonainen broileri järkevämpi. Ylipäätään ruuat, ja myös luut, mitoitetaan tietenkin koiran koon mukaan. Siivet ovat kääpiökoirille ehkä sopivaa syötävää, mutta maksikokoluokassa ne ovat enintään vajaa haukkapala. Ehkä hammashuoltoa oleellisempaa on kuitenkin se, että koirat tykkäävät syödä niitä. Koira unohtaa usein pitkät putkiluut joksikin aikaa. Ne eivät jaksa enää kiinnostaa, koska niissä ei ole mitään hauskaa. Mutta kun ne ovat vanhentuneet tarpeeksi kauan huoneenlämmössä, tai kesällä pihalla, niin härskiintynyt luuydin muuttuukin herkuksi. Jos koira ei saa itse kielellään porattua luuydintä, niin sitä voi kaivaa sille. Kuitenkin siinä vaiheessa kun luu on vain ontto tynkä, niin se hävitetään. Siinä vaiheessa luu muuttuu herkusta riskiksi, koska putkiluut murtuvat eräällä tavalla pituutensa keskimmäisen kolmanneksen osalta pirstaleiseksi. Luiden murtuminen ja palasten riski koiran ruuansulatukselle syntyy luun toiminnasta kehossa. Taipuvat luut murtuvat helpommin pitkiksi säleiksi, kun taasen vahvat luut, kuten raajojen pitkät luut, murtuvat helpommin pienemmiksi sirpaleiksi. Kypsennys ei kuitenkaan vaikuta asiaan mitenkään. Toki luu paistettaessa menettää vettä ja siten rakenteen elastisuutta, mutta sillä ei ole koiralle mitään merkitystä. Lopputulos on aina sama käyttää koira puremiseen sitten 50 tai 80 prosentin tehoa - luu murtuu aina ja poikkeuksetta. Broileri on huomattavasti vaarattomampaa kuin muiden maaeläinten luut. Broileri on huomattavan nuori pikkutipu ja paistettuna sen luut murtuvat ihan sormivoiminkin aivan muusiksi. Poronluita pelkään itse paljon enemmän. Se, että kumman tyyppinen sirpaloituminen on koiralle vaarallisempaa, riippuu aivan tapauksesta. Ihmiset yleensä pelkäävät pidempiä sälöjä enemmän suolen puhkeamisen takia, mutta ne lienevät kuitenkin harvinaisempia kuin muut ison luumäärän aiheuttamat ongelmat. Suolisto on harvoin jos koskaan täysin tyhjä. Silloin suoliston sisältö suojaa luusälön kulkiessa suolistossa. Eräällä tapaa tilanne on sama kuin jos annettaisiin parsaa ja kuidut jopa onnistuisivat pyydystämään luun palasen. Suuremman riskin kuin eläinlaji tai mikä luun toiminnallinen merkitys on ollut eläimessä syntyy syödyn luun määrästä. Ehdottomasti yleisin syy koirien ongelmissa on ollut omistajan antama liian iso luumäärä. Koiraa ei opettaa tai kouluttaa sietämään isompia luumääriä. Joko koira kestää tai sitten ei kestä. Jos koiralla menee aina vatsa sekaisin luusta, niin niiden antaminen vain siksi, että omistaja haluaa, on pelkästään piittaamattomuutta koirasta ja sen hyvinvoinnista. Silti pennut, tai aikuinenkin, jos ei ole eläessään luuta syönyt, täytyy opettaa syömään luita. Osalla se menee luonnostaan, ja jotkut sitten harjoittelevat pidempään. Siinä ei kuitenkaan ole kysymys elimistön ja suoliston opettamisesta, vaan että koira opettelee tekniikan syödä luita. Usein aloitetaan jostain hellävaraiseksi mielletystä, kuten siivistä. Eivät ne ole sen hellävaraisempia ja aloitukseen kannattaisikin valikoida isoja kovia luita. Ihan siksi, että niistä ei saa paljoakaan irti ja samalla joutuu testaamaan ja harjoittelemaan miten hampaita ja leukoja moiseen evääseen kuuluu käyttää. Vatsa- ja suolisto-oireisille luita ja rustoja kuuluu käyttää todella varovasti. Yleensä ei kannattaisi antaa ollenkaan. Osalle ne kuitenkin toimivat ja kovettavat riittävästi vatsaa, mutta ei liikaa. Moiset koirat ovat kuitenkin vähemmistönä. Jos luita käyttää kuten kuitua, niin ehkä kannattaa kokeilla luista jauhelihaa. Tuo kuitenkin riippuu koirasta, eikä sitä tiedä etukäteen. Kannattaa kuitenkin pitää mielessä, että kuitu - oli se sitten aitoa kasvikuitua tai luuta - yliannostettuna aiheuttaa aina ongelmia. Se, että koska liika on liikaa riippuu koirasta: joko mennään ripulille tai saadaan paha ummetus. Yleisellä tasolla kuitenkin luulliset jauhelihat ovat suurempi ongelma ummetuksen suhteen kuin luulliset lihat tai pelkät luut konsanaan.
