Montagliani is president of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) and a FIFA vice-president. He is also a Vancouver native and former president of B.C. Soccer and Canada Soccer. Montagliani was Canada Soccer director of national teams in 2008 when Canada's under-20 women's team coach Bob Birarda was quietly dismissed due to player complaints of inappropriate behaviour. Montagliani serves as Concacaf President and FIFA Vice President since May 2016. He also chairs the FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee. Through his ONE Concacaf Vision, Montagliani continues strengthening the foundations of the Confederation, while focusing on developing a professional and solid structure for its 41 Member Associations. With football at its core, the ONE Concacaf Vision consists of four pillars to further growth the game, including: Good governance, successful strategic planning for competitions and commercial partnership, investment in football development and infrastructure, and solid leadership. Montagliani served as President of the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) until May 6, 2017. Through his leadership at the CSA, he brought efficiency and a corporate style to the Association. Montagliani is a partner in a nationwide insurance brokerage firm, which he has grown since its inception in 2010 to over 250 employees, working alongside his two business partners. In addition to his vast knowledge and experience within the game, Montagliani has concluded studies in Political Science, Public Administration, French and Spanish. We're technically on holiday, but there's no rest for the wicked when it's a busy week of football for both the Whitecaps and Canada. The 'Caps have won two games in a row on the road, qualified for the knockout stages of the CONCACAF Champions League, and Erik Hurtado's scored in consecutive games. Whatever crazy voodoo has been done, it's working. Next up is a must-win game away to Cascadian rivals Seattle. Defeat is not an option if Vancouver's faint playoff hopes are to stay alive. The 'Caps have stayed on the road, so head coach Carl Robinson held a conference call today to look at Vancouver's recent games, the task ahead against Seattle and to make the playoffs, and he reveals some exciting preseason plans. Turning our attention to the national team, the Canadian Soccer Association have sacked head coach Benito Floro. No real surprise there, but CSA (and CONCACAF!) President Victor Montagliani held a conference call on Wednesday to explain why and the way forward for Canadian soccer.
