This week on the Unscripted Wrestling Show, on we each reveal our Own Pro Wrestling Class of 2023. This will be wrestlers from Any promotion and of All Time. We also reveal lists that we got from our fans/family) friends this week. 

Former Pope wrestling coach Jim Haskin did everything possible to help promote wrestling in Georgia during his 30-year coaching career, and now he is going to get the ultimate recognition for what he did for the sport. Haskin is one of seven individuals who will make up the 2023 class of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Georgia Chapter. He joins current Reinhardt university coach Jeff Bedard; wrestling official Mike Bostick; Bill Gifford, who started the first wrestling-specific Fellowship of Christian Athletes ministry; former Rockdale and Hall County coach Mitch McGhee; former Roswell coach Wayne Smith; and former state champion and wrestling official Johnny Stallings. All seven will enter the hall as “Lifetime Service to Wrestling” recipients, which recognizes those who contributed at least 20 years to the sport as a coach, refereeor contributor. They will be inducted as part of a ceremony April 23 in Flowery Branch. Haskin, who retired from coaching following the 2021-22 season, started his career with one season as an assistant at Cedar Grove and then served two years as head coach at Druid Hills. However, in 1995, Haskin began building Pope into the consistent winner and state power it became under his guidance. During that time, he compiled a 570-148 dual record, winning seven state titles — three traditional and four duals championships — and an additional four state runner-up finishes.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Episode 62 of the USA Wrestling Bonus Points podcast features current Campbell head coach and hall of fame wrestler Cary Kolat. Kolat finished his career among the most decorated wrestlers in U.S. history. Internationally, he won two World medals in men's freestyle and competed at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. In college, Kolat was a four-time NCAA All-American and two-time NCAA champion. He finished in second and third place at the NCAA Championships for Penn State during his first two years of college. Kolat then transferred to Lock Haven where he won his two NCAA titles. Kolat was a four-time Pennsylvania state champion, boasting an undefeated record in high school. In 2017, Kolat will be inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Member. Rick Caldwell carved out an impressive career as a high school coach in the state of Iowa. Most recently, he helped guide Waverly-Shell Rock to national prominence and set an Iowa state record for team scoring at the traditional state tournament. Soon, Caldwell will be inducted into the Glen Brand Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame. On Episode 3 of the BVU Wrestling BeaverCast, Caldwell talks about his days as a Beaver wrestler under coach Al Baxter where Caldwell was a two-time Division III All-American. Severn began his career in the fight game as a Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestler. He quickly became a top high school and collegiate wrestler capturing many titles, honors, and several national and world titles. As a high school wrestler Severn was a two-time national champion and set eight national records in his career. Dan was inducted into Arizona State University’s Wrestling Hall of Fame at the end of his prestigious collegiate career. He was even the 1984 Olympic Alternate for the United States Wrestling Team. Severn, through his notoriety in the UFC, stepped in a different ring in 1998. The World Wrestling Federation wanted to capitalize on Severn’s skills. Dan wrestled weekly for the WWF as he continued a grueling schedule of appearances, seminars, and no holds barred fighting. He is known around the world as the most active competitor in sports today, competing for over 30 professional wrestling organizations, 12 fight promotions, and speaking engagements. Dan also held the National Wrestling Alliance(NWA) heavyweight title in the professional wrestling ranks for longer than any other previous NWA champion. He has over 95 state, national, and international wrestling titles under his belt, and in 1999, reached a milestone by competing in his 4000th match. Dan is a 2-time NWA Heavyweight Champion, one of the most prestigious Championships in the history of professional wrestling, ranking amongst the top ten of all time.
