He has been an igniting force in empowering parents to access and capitalize on multiple initiatives and resources for their children through his work with programs such as the Family Engagement Collaborative through DC Public Schools, as well as the Flamboyan Foundation. He is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS). Mr. Meeks earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Bowie State University, is the Deputy Commissioner for the BBGC Basketball Program and a mentor for the Bowie Boys and Girls Club. Mr. Meeks is a native Washingtonian that grew up experiencing first-hand the difficulties that inner-city youth have in managing their weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, due to the scarce resources provided to them. Mr. Meeks volunteers his time to provide the youth in the Washington Metropolitan Area with the necessary skills and discipline they need to lead a healthier and active life. With the leadership of Mr. Meeks, Team Be Somebody hopes that by providing physical training and health awareness, our youth will regain their health and lives back in order to help them lead successfully in the future. Saturday, November 11, 2017 A Seat @ the Table Podcast had the opportunity to attend the collaborative pop up shop hosted by the Eat brand and the Enemies Forever brand. Two local D.C. brands coming together to battle it out for the city! Putting D.C. on the map one pop up shop at a time! We had Malik Jarrett, creator of the Eat brand ( Elevate all the time) @allhomage and Doyle Song, creator of the Enemies Forever brand @with0ut_cause representing for D.C. and all the local entrepreneurs trying to pave their way through the hard knocks of the business world! Not only did they bring their new collaborative gear to H Street at the Flee Market Gallery (@fleemarketgallery) but they brought the city with them; showing love and showing out. Celebrating one another, building together, and providing a space to network and grow! It was truly and honor to attend the event and as you will hear on this special edition of A Seat @ the Table Podcast I got to interview a couple people that everyone should watch out for including, Bruce Allen, one of D.C.'s best photographers ( @thebruceallen), as well as, his partner Earl Peoples, local fashionista providing you with high fashion, and unique vintage clothing ( @shopearlscloset).
