When writer / director Seth Ferranti received a twenty-five year LSD kingpin conviction, after faking his suicide and landing on the US Marshals Top-15 Most Wanted list, he thought his life was over. As a first time, non-violent offender, the lengthy sentence attracted media attention from The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, The Washington Times, and others. Turning despair into drive, Ferranti earned an associates, bachelors, and masters degree while in prison and started penning prison and gangster stories for VICE, Don Diva, FEDS, Hoopshype and others. He became a true-crime publisher from the cell block and built a website and publishing house, Gorilla Convict, that documented stories that the mainstream media was not willing to share. In February 2015, after serving 21 years, he was released from the Bureau of Prisons, to seek his fortune. Back in the world Ferranti continued his writing career as a journalist penning pieces for VICE, OZY, The Daily Beast, Dazed, MERRY JANE, and features for Penthouse and Real Crime Magazines, among others. He also embarked on his true passion, filmmaking. Ferranti joined forces with Shawn Rech and Transitions Studios to make WHITE BOY, a top ten Netflix feature documentary on Richard Wershe Jr. Seth also starred in the season one finale of VICE's I WAS A TEENAGE FELON. Modeling himself as the Quentin Tarantino of documentaries, he currently has four documentary projects in production and three in post at his studio OUTLAW FILMS. It appears there is no stopping him…

When writer / director Seth Ferranti received a twenty-five year LSD kingpin conviction, after faking his suicide and landing on the US Marshals Top-15 Most Wanted list, he thought his life was over. As a drug dealing teen Ferranti sold LSD and marijuana at 15 East Coast colleges, crisscrossing across five states- Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Maryland- a wanna-be rock star and Hunter S. Thompson-style outlaw whose hero's were Henry Rollins, Axl Rose, and Jim Morrison. He followed the Grateful Dead and considered himself a counter culture rebel, not a criminal, as he was breaking laws which he thought were wrong. He stands by those convictions today and see's himself more as an activist who was a little ahead of the times. A trailblazer of the legal cannabis and psychedelic movements. He began building a writing and journalism career from inside the belly of the beast. With unlimited access to criminals and their stories Ferranti started crafting raw portrayals of prison life and crack era gangsters. Discovering a passion and talent for writing Ferranti also studied the trade earning an associates, bachelors, and masters degree while in prison. With hope for his future renewed Ferranti started penning prison and gangster stories for Vice, Don Diva, FEDS, Hoopshype and others. Cannabis can make for a better sexual experience. It's science! If we could sell you a product that reduced anxiety, helped you feel more mindful, increased arousal and heighten orgasm for more than a third of women who try it, would you be interested? Of course you would! What's the catch? Well, it's technically illegal. Nevertheless, the Wives brave the possibility of jail time (or, more likely, a tiny little fine) to bring you their hands-on experience of cannabis use and sex. First, wrap up in a cozy sweater and sip a delicious Vanilla Honey Cider while listening to this episode's Hot Tale. Ams has a major change of heart regarding newbie whispering (..didn't she used to say, “I hold dicks, not hands.”?) when she and Mr. Ams have mind-blowing experience with a new to swinging couple at podcast-a-palooza. Next, the Wives explore some of the benefits of cannabis use, including why cannabis might be better for you than alcohol, the components on cannabis that get you high, edibles versus smoking or vaping, as well as some of the risks of cannabis use. To get a sexpert's opinion, the Wives interview the CannaSexual herself Ashley Manta. Finally, the Wives assign themselves sexy homework: Kat wants to explore making her own gummies and cocktails with Cannabis tincture and Ams is going to keep a cannabis journal of her psychedelic sexploration. In November, New Jersey residents approved Public Question 1 essentially deeming recreational cannabis legal for adults 21 and older beginning January 1, 2021. We spoke with three veteran experts of the cannabis industry to explore how New Jersey can ensure that people of color, and those with marijuana offenses prior to legalization, be afforded an opportunity to participate, meaningfully, in this burgeoning industry. Our featured guests, Ted Chung founder of Merry Jane with partner Snoop Dogg, Almaz Adeigbola a cannabis pop-up chef and founder of Brwnbox CBD located in Orange, NJ, and Lewis Koski COO of Metrc the government's most trusted cannabis legalization partner will join us to share their expertise on: The Green Rush - Social equity in the cannabis industry. State of the local landscape - How New Jersey can get it right? What can we learn from roll-out and regulation in other states that have legalized in the past few years? Cannabis investment opportunities and obstacles - How can regulation drive opportunities for minority entrepreneurs and eliminate barriers to entry into the cannabis industry?
Ashley Manta, Kiana Reeves, and John Renko join Tristan Taormino to talk about cannabis, sexual health, and pleasure. We talk about how cannabis products, including arousal oil, lubricants, and suppositories can treat sexual pain, inflammation, and trouble with arousal. We go over the difference between a CBD product and one with CBD and THC and how to be an informed consumer in a market that has been flooded with unregulated CBD products. As medical professionals often invalidate, pathologize, or simply have no solutions for pelvic pain, vaginismus, and vulvodynia, cannabis is a natural, plant-based medicine that offers real relief. Special thanks for the support of Dipsea, Care/Of, and Calm. Ashley Manta is an award-winning sex educator and coach and has become a sought-after authority on mindfully combining sex and cannabis as part of her CannaSexual® brand. Author & journalist Michelle Janikian joins myself & DJ Murakami for a fascinating discussion on psychedelic culture, past and present. Michelle has written for various publications including Playboy Magazine and Merry Jane focusing on drug policy, trends, education and aspects of psychedelic culture. She also released her first book, Your Psilocybin Mushroom Companion: An Informative, Easy-to-Use Guide to Understanding Magic Mushrooms in 2019. With the current resurgence in psychedelic culture taking place throughout the world, so many voices are popping up - some that highlight certain agendas above others - but what´s important is not to fall back into petty debates about what one perceives as the "right way forward". Psychedelics have a long, colourful, yet mysterious history and for those of us fascinated by the questions they raise, cheerful conversations are vitally important. DJ & I only scratched the surface here, but thoroughly enjoyed this chat and look forward to what Michelle has coming out in her next articles. We hope you enjoy listening to this conversation and we look forward to having Michelle back again to continue the discussion.Be sure to check out Michelle´s new book and articles on all the social and streaming platforms.Website: https://www.michellejanikian.comIG: https://www.instagram.com/michelle.janikian/Twitter: https://twitter.com/m00shianBook: https://ulyssespress.com/books/your-psilocybin-mushroom-companion/Playboy: https://www.playboy.com/profile/michelle-janikianMusic: https://www.akirathedon.com/Support this podcast with some Paypal energy: https://www.paypal.me/TomMountjoy

In this episode, Joe interviews Michelle Janikian, Author of Your Psilocybin Mushroom Companion. In the show, they talk about Michelle’s book, the need to speak about the unspoken, and how psychedelic experiences differ for everyone. 3 Key Points: Michelle Janikian is Author of the book, Your Psilocybin Mushroom Companion, an easy-to-use guide to understanding magic mushrooms, from tips and trips to microdosing and psychedelic therapy. Psychedelics can help people, but they don't solve all problems. Doing the homework after an experience is so important. The psychedelic subculture has a lot of repressed stuff going on like sexual abuse. We need to speak about the things that aren't necessarily good for the movement, we need to talk about all of it. Navigating Psychedelics Show Notes About Michelle Michelle was originally a cannabis journalist Then she was a staff writer for Herb She then started writing her own book, Your Psilocybin Mushroom Companion So much has been happening with mushrooms lately, and Michelle thought we really needed a resource on how to use mushrooms safely Ulysses Press did a few Cannabis books Michelle was approached by them, they wanted to do a mushroom guide She first took mushrooms when she was 17 She took them for fun, but had so many deep and meaningful experiences too Michelle believes there are multiple right ways to use psilocybin, either therapeutically, ceremonially, recreationally, etc. "As long as you're being safe with your surroundings, and with yourself, anyway is the right way (except for the fact that they are still illegal)" - Michelle In places where mushrooms are decriminalized, she mentions it totally changes your comfort level and experience when you're not so afraid to have them on you Retreat Michelle just volunteered as a trip sitter at a week long women's retreat in Mexico at Luz Eterna Retreats She says she doesn't have all the answers, but the group environment can be really great for some, and not good at all for others She suggests, “do what feels right for you” Routes of Administration There isn't one ideal form of administration across all drugs Joe says one route of administration may be good for one person, and not for another You can powder the mushrooms and put them into capsules, put them on food, eat them plain, make a tea out of them, etc Michelle says she has a great recipe in her book for mushroom tea to prevent nausea Different for Everyone Michelle felt a calling to write the book because she says many other books and publications were coming out, and she didn't want some people to feel upset when psychedelics didn't just ‘heal them’ She says psychedelics help her, but they don't solve all of her problems Doing the homework after an experience is so important The Unspoken She says she feels uninspired to write about the ‘black and white’, the same old, stereotypical narrative She wants to write about the grey, the unexpected, the in-between Michelle asks how do we talk about the things that aren't right for the movement? Like the sexual abuse that happens in this space This psychedelic subculture has a lot of repressed stuff going on, and how do we talk about it? We need to keep learning in this field to keep improving, it is dense and detailed Michelle leaves us with a final thought, “read more books written by women!” Links Your Psilocybin Mushroom Companion: An Informative, Easy-to-Use Guide to Understanding Magic Mushrooms―From Tips and Trips to Microdosing and Psychedelic Therapy Website About Michelle Janikian Michelle Janikian is the author of Your Psilocybin Mushroom Companion, the down-to-earth guide that details how to use magic mushrooms “like an adult.” As a journalist, she got her start writing about cannabis for publications like High Times, Rolling Stone and Herb. You wouldn't know it with how humble Mary Carreon is, but she is a profound voice in the space. As the associate editor of Merry Jane, she has the opportunity to tell the best story regardless of the topic to tell the story through the lens that is tangible. She just had her full first year on 4/1 with Merry Jane, and in cannabis years that is like 7. Her angle to write is around telling the whole story and one in particular is when she interviewed Virginia Hayes and Dr. Mandrake about how to grow psilocybin mushrooms including a cook book for gummy worms and other interesting baking goods. If you do not know anything about cannabis or psychedelics you will leave with more knowledge.Mary and I span discussions on the state of cannabis vs. all other drugs and how the legalization of mushrooms seem to miss all the hurdles the cannabis industry has been facing. We also touch on the war on drugs, the waste of resources and needle exchanges.Follow Mary Carreon on Instagram @maryyystardust and Follow Merry Jane on Instagram @merryjane and their website Merry Jane

We talk with Kate Manson, founder of Tarot CBD about how she's applied creative marketing and negotiation techniques to get the first cannabis advertisement in the sky and to get her own products on the shelves of Saks 5th Avenue. Kate Manson has had cannabis in her cards for many years. As the founder of Capsule and Tarot CBD, her 11-year journey in the cannabis industry has allowed her to share her passion for cannabis and CBD with a myriad of audiences. Before pursuing her own brand, Kate served as the VP of Experiential Marketing at Wikileaf where she learned the intricacies of effective cannabis marketing – her work has been featured in AD Age, Merry Jane, Herb.co, Seattle Met & Bloom Farms. What is the best thing that is going on in your career right now? I launched a new company, Tarot CBD and am fully emerged in building the brand and driving sales. Why are you part of the cannabis industry? I always have been. My parents are cannabis users and I started using and selling cannabis at a young age. I've always taken a less-traveled path and enjoy the challenges I face both personally and professionally working in a heavily regulated and stigmatized industry. What is one entrepreneurial story or experience you'd like to share? I shared the Facebook landing page workaround with the CEO of a CBD brand and a week later Facebook was announcing that they would allow CBD topical companies to run ads. At this moment, I am not able to run ads for Tarot CBD and believe Facebook is approaching and denying based on ad budget and audience. I'd love to connect with businesses in similar situations to see how we can approach Facebook as a united front and get results. What is one piece of insight you'd like to share with the listeners In cannabis marketing we often get told no more than yes. I believe that no is negotiable and that with enough education and persistence we have the power to shape the cannabis conversation. What's the biggest challenge you've faced as a business owner that you can share with our audience? The biggest challenge I face currently is driving B2C sales in a saturated market and creating a unique and consistent brand story.

Jim is still very much involved in the day to day at Merry Jane. During this episode, all hosts and guests are drunk and in an exhausted Vegas state. We decided to publish it anyway. It's pretty funny. We hope you enjoy.

And yet, everyone tells you saying goodbye is a gift: "You're so lucky." What a peculiar experience... to wish a person who knows they will soon leave this world farewell. To a person who couldn't reply, as they had lost their voice over a year ago. To a person who couldn't move. To a person who had been paralyzed for over a decade. To a person who was at one point a lawyer, father, brother, and friend. But perhaps a person who was most known for being "the guy in the wheelchair" or "the guy with ALS." To a person who no longer dazzled, committed, or cared. To a person who was also your dad. I really resonate with the quote: "Grief is love with nowhere to go." AzChike Talks Inflatable Dicks and the Return of the West Coast by MERRY JANE
On the latest episode of "Queens of the Stoned Age," MERRY JANE managing editor Mira Gonzalez sits down with comedian Kalea McNeill to discuss acting on the romantic musical comedy-drama TV show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, being the class clown, and almost unintentionally falling into stand-up comedy 7 years ago. Over a Swisher stuffed with the finest bud our good friends the Green Angels (@greenangels.buzzz) have to offer, Mira and Kalea chop it up about jelly bean-shaped burgers in Fairfield CA, the important role weed plays in her writing process, and working at an infomercial production company right out of college. We closed out the show with a friendly round of “Puff or Pass,” a segment in which we gauged Kalea’s opinions on topics such as cooking with weed, Billy Porter’s tuxedo gown, Green Book winning best picture at the Oscars, and more. To support Kalea, check out the short film Boihood, watch season 4 of “Crazy Ex Girlfriend” on the CW, and catch her on MERRY JANE’s “About That Time,” with Noah Rubin every Tuesday or Thursday on Facebook Live. Her new comedy special “Laugh After Dark” will also drop on Amazon Prime Video in a month! “Queens of the Stoned Age” will be live at SXSW in Austin, Texas, with Chairman of the Board of the Texas Cannabis Industry Association Elizabeth Nichols as a special guest. Bu sure to come check it out if you’re in town! Until then, don’t be shy: kick back, relax, and get woke with the freshest ep of "Queens of the Stoned Age" — the days of marijuana mansplaining are over.
Despite not being a punk band in the least, music critics are constantly comparing Potty Mouth to iconic female bands such as Bikini Kill and Riot Girls. In short, situation normal: all fucked up. However, despite being fans of those bands, Potty Mouth find the comparisons diminutive and are on a mission to establish themselves as female rock musicians on their own terms. On the latest episode of "Queens of the Stoned Age," MERRY JANE’s Mira Gonzalez sits down with Abby Weems, Ally Einbinder, and Victoria Mandanas of Potty Mouth to discuss their journey from living and going to school in Massachusetts to living in LA and releasing their second album next month. Over a blunt of Blue Dream provided by our good friends the Green Angels(@greenangels.buzzz), Abby, Ally, and Victoria chimed in on whether weed helps them break out of their normal song writing groove (“Drip Dry” was uncharacteristically written by Abby whilst high), how hard it is to make it financially as an artist, and having complete creative control over their next release. Because Abby, Ally, and Victoria are all from Massachusetts, a state that happens to have some seriously bonkers laws still on the books, we devised a game in which we asked them to guess which laws were real and which were from a list of both actual laws and fictitious ones. Is it illegal to eat peanuts in church? Can milk only be consumed in a copper mug? You’ll have to find out for yourself... Potty Mouth’s new album Snafu drops on 3/1, and they will also be performing at their album release party at the Factory in Los Angeles. Until then, check out their “Starry Eyes” music video and preorder the album! So don’t be shy: kick back, relax, and get woke with the freshest ep of "Queens of the Stoned Age" — the days of marijuana mansplaining are over.
Most servers don’t have a million Instagram followers, right? Or act in a Broadway show, right?! Well, let’s just say that Scheana Shay isn’t your average server. On the latest episode of "Queens of the Stoned Age," MERRY JANE managing editor Mira Gonzalez sits down with Scheana to learn more about her transition from serving to acting on a reality TV show and becoming a celebrity. Over a joint of “Mimosa” provided by our good friends the Green Angels (@greenangels.buzzz), Scheana and Mira discuss their mutual love for “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” having to give up THC and CBD for 50 days in order to freeze her eggs, and how (mistakenly) getting sued by her neighbors for smoking weed in the building led to meeting Tommy Chong. It was then time for a round of the “Puff Pass” segment, but you’ll have to watch to find out what Scheana thinks of microblading, Taco Bell, Katy Perry’s blackface shoes, and plenty more. The next “Vanderpump Rules” episode airs next Monday, but until then be sure to check out Shay’s just-released first single “Better Without You” (the full EP drops in May) and her “Scheananigans” podcast on PodcastOne. Right now, however, don’t be shy: kick back, relax, and get woke with the freshest ep of "Queens of the Stoned Age" — the days of marijuana mansplaining are over.
As you probably already know, today is the commercialized holiday of love, a.k.a. Valentine’s Day. Some of you may be boo’ed up with lavish dinner plans, while others of you may have a faded night in with your squeeze on the calendar. However, even if you’re not in a romantic relationship at all, it’s never a bad idea to get some advice from open-minded individuals like yourself! On the latest episode of "Queens of the Stoned Age," MERRY JANE managing editor Mira Gonzalez, joined by her esteemed MERRY JANE colleague Anthony Young, sits down with adult performer and activist Janice Griffith for a special “Love Potline” V-day episode of “Queens of the Stoned Age.” Over blunts provided by our good friends the Green Angels (@greenangels.buzzz), and after discussing modern dates vs. “traditional” dates (“we’re gonna fuck, but let’s have some fun formalities first”), and gender reveals, the trio trolls the r/relationship_advice Reddit thread to take a stab at providing sex advice for those in need. To get Mira, Janice, and Anthony’s takes on what to do when your partner is into horse sex when you’re not into it, what to do when you’re not into photos of buttholes, and plenty more just kick back, relax, and get woke with the freshest ep of "Queens of the Stoned Age" -- the days of marijuana mansplaining are over. Last but not least, remember to pee after sex, that a booty call and a butt dial are definitely not the same thing, and to smoke weed every day!
Sometimes you gotta keep it in the family. Luckily, the MERRY JANE fam is talented, smokes loud, and is down to record their conversations after smoking aforementioned loud. On the latest episode of "Queens of the Stoned Age," MERRY JANE managing editor Mira Gonzalez sits down with “writer slash performer” and fellow MERRY JANE editor Shelby Fero to talk about writing for television, salary negotiations, how difficult it is to eat Triscuits with cottonmouth, and lots more. Over several Gorilla Glue containing joints provided by our good friends the Green Angels (@greenangels.buzzz), Shelby and Mira discuss putting the “high” in high school, working on Punk’d, Robot Chicken, and Key & Peele, and East of La Brea, as well as the perils of disagreeing with men in Hollywood as a young woman. To turn it up a notch Shelby and Mira fielded “anonymous” questions about the most inappropriate places they’ve been stoned, whether Drake is an icon or a creep, and who their cartoon character crushes were/are. So don’t be shy: kick back, relax, and get woke with the freshest ep of "Queens of the Stoned Age" — the days of marijuana mansplaining are over.

With Thanksgiving leftovers already wrapped up for another year, Christmas around the corner, and New Years creeping soon, it’s time to break bread with family and friends, and share in a few laughs. And for our fearless leader Snoop Dogg, that means music, comedy, celebrities, and enough food to feed an army. Thankfully, the Doggfather has a big family to share in the Winter warmth. On this very special, all-encompassing, holiday episode of GGN, we put together an inside look at Uncle Snoop’s most raucous Yuletide celebrations from over the years, featuring guests like Bishop Don “Magic” Juan, Too $hort, Luenell, Michael Blackson, Karrueche Tran, and live music from BJ the Chicago Kid and Snoop himself. While Luenell runs through an X-rated 12 Days of Christmas, Michael Blackson tells his favorite off-color jokes, and T.I. breaks down the origins of Thanksgiving, the crew alternates between never-ending blunts and bottles of Ciroc, bringing our humble talk show much holiday cheer as humanly possible. So kick back, spark up, pour up the eggnog and take a seat at Snoop’s holiday dinner party with MERRY JANE and GGN.
Over the years, some of Hollywood’s biggest stars have stopped by the GGN desk to chop it up with Uncle Snoop. And everytime a chart-topping rapper or Oscar-winning thespian joins the Doggfather for a chat, our fearless leader breaks out the rapid-fire Q&A segment we call the Smokers Studio. On this very special episode of GGN, we took a look back at the best (and worst) answers from the Smokers Studio, sorting out everything from ideal super powers and dream movie role to early morning motivation and wild, wild thoughts. While Snoop sits back and puffs an endless blunt, K Camp imagines the benefits of dating with teleportation, Mario Lopez daydreams about starring in a Scarface remake, Kathy Bates inquires about Snoop’s bathtub and way, way more. So sit back, spark your favorite strain, and watch your favorite stars get grilled under the scorching lights of Snoop’s Smokers Studio — and be glad you’re not in the hot seat! Recent and unfortunate devastation has hit Houston, Texas in the worst way! We are all wishing for a quick recovery to this horrific tragedy. The crew had a very in-depth discussion on this and how recovery should look. ON THE OTHER HAND, relief was NOT on the way for Connor McGregor! America gathered around their homies’ television to watch Floyd Mayweather pummel Conor McGregor live from Las Vegas. We can’t recall their ever being a fight with this much hype behind it. The victory over McGregor made him 50-0, breaking the 49-0 record of hall of fame fade deliverer Rocky Marciano. We say all that to say, the hype was BIG and apparently it paid off because according to Telegraph, the fight is estimated to gross $700 between pay-per-view sales and tickets. Relief is certainly on the way with this one! Rapper Wiz Khalifa has landed his own weed-themed show on Snoop Dogg’s marijuana media platform. The “Black and Yellow” hitmaker is fronting a new digital series which will combine elements of stunt show “Jackass” and fitness competition “American Ninja” Warrior for Merry Jane, a cannabis culture website. Can't wait for this one! Hate It Or Love It? Kim Kardashian West channeled Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis for a cover shoot that's on the receiving end of some harsh criticism on the internet. The reality star and her four-year-old daughter North are featured on the September cover of Interview Magazine with the headline "America's new first lady Kim Kardashian West and her daughter North West." Does The “Ho Phase” Get A Bad Rap? I'm not sure if there's much relief from this one, lol...it just, "is what it is". We also had a special guest in studio, singer/songwriter, Maya Milan. She is currently in a residency in Las Vegas with music legend, Keith Sweat. Check her out along with all her event updates at www.mayamilan.com and on social media @milanmodemusic. Don't worry, Wednesday will be here before you know it!
