For the last series of the year, we are talking about lessons we've learned over the past decade! Many times in the day to day circumstances, we may feel like we're not getting anywhere, but from God's perspective, we've come so far! Today's Takeaways Career Development 1. Job searching takes time and intentionality. Don't half way apply to anything, but follow up on everything. Tailor your resume and cover letter to the specific job. 2. Instead of just applying on the larger job sites,  take the time to find companies within your field, and get as close to the inside as you can. 3. When interviewing, come with specific questions tailored to how your role plays into the larger company vision. Show that you're committed to the future of the company. 4. Don't allow work relationships to keep you from your bigger professional goals. Remain neutral, and don't engage with drama or allow workplace friendships to keep you stuck. 5. Make people remember you. Go the extra mile with every connection you make. Send thank you letters, send follow up emails, and go the extra mile when working with other departments. 6. Keep a work journal and QUANTIFY everything. Assess the current state of the role and your department before you arrived. Then, document the success (using specific data) you bring to the team and department. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT 7. Build the proper policies, systems, and routines up front. Organization is the key to consistency. 8. Allow the big picture to inspire you, but don't allow the vision to deter you from starting small. 9. Use ready-made tools and templates if possible when starting out. Invest SMART. 10. You CAN DO BOTH. We have to find out the root of our inconsistency and lack of discipline in order to solve it and push forward. 2. Vulnerability is not optional when it comes to fully walking in God's purpose for you. 3. You have to surrender to fully in order to walk in your purpose fully. Last month, we finished our Career and Business series up and this month we’re going to focus on GOING DEEPER!  We're going to go deeper in our relationship with God and our character, in the responsibility that comes with our purpose, in our mental and emotional wholeness and wellness, and in our relationships with others. Today's main TAKEAWAY It's time to go deeper and grow up in the Spirit. We have to allow The Rough Draft of our lives to begin being edited. We have to allow Him to do the INNER WORK instead of just trying to keep with OUTER APPEARANCES. God is SOVEREIGN. He is GOD, we are not. We can’t manipulate God into getting your way. Man looks on the outer appearance, but God looks at the heart. We say let me try to do good things so God will give me xyz…. But, He can’t be manipulated. His will is His will. And we can either come into surrender and submission with that or continue to always be at a crossroads never content and always seeking and striving... Find peace by releasing the need to control.   Our relationship with God should not be a tug of war…. It should be one of surrender and authenticity with Him. Be real with Him about where you are but also surrender how you are to His will. Get to know Him and believe Him FIRST and FOREMOST and then as you begin to get to know Him, you’ll begin to know YOU.  Summary from today's practical tips 1 Going Deeper requires our prayers to change. Instead of praying for things, lets begin to shift our prayers to praying for (1) His will (2) His character (3) His heart and thanking Him for all He has done 2 Going Deeper requires us to grow a new hunger for the Word of God Don’t just read, STUDY it.  3 Going Deeper means working on our HEART and CHARACTER and MOTIVES. 4 Going Deeper means living a life that’s pleasing to Him. We change nothing about our lives and wonder why our life never changes.  5 Going Deeper in God means sharing Him with your others and using your gifts to advance The Kingdom. When you're underemployed, working and coming home makes for a miserable combination. Throw yourself into a passion, a hobby, or a project. 7 Learn to live within your means. You have nothing to prove to anyone. Don't get into a financial hole trying to keep up with everyone else. Be smart with your money. God will honor your faithfulness. 7 See the bigger picture and His purpose. In every season, there is a purpose.
