Katie Garry is the founder and CEO of Seek, the first at-home lab test that measures how alcohol impacts women's health. Before starting Seek, Katie spent years trying to understand how alcohol impacted her own health. After working her way through the traditional healthcare system, booking dozens of specialist appointments and spending thousands of dollars on medical bills, she ended up with more questions than answers, and decided to do something about it.Seek measures how alcohol impacts our health the same way we use fitness trackers to monitor things like our heart rate, glucose levels and menstrual cycle. Katie founded Seek with the belief that it should be easy and affordable for every woman to get information about how alcohol impacts her health and track how it changes over time. No surprise medical bills, no confusing lab reports, no struggling to fit in a doctor's appointment, and definitely no gaslighting. Just actionable insights, unique to our own bodies, on our own timelines. Before building Seek, Katie spent over a decade working in marketing with brands like Modern Fertility (acquired by Ro) and Mirror (acquired by Lululemon). She started her career researching and writing about issues related to women's health for Prevention magazine. Katie has a B.S. in journalism and minor in creative writing from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Grab the tissues for this one. I sit down with Azure, the creator of sober.chronicles. Azure is a mom, a wife, a hospice nurse and a sobriety advocate. Azure recently hit 18 months of sobriety. Yay! Her main inspiration that led her to examining her own relationship with alcohol, came after losing her little sister, Karenza, at only 29 years due to complications of liver failure. "The kindest, funniest, clumsiest soul I have ever known suffered so silently that nobody, and I mean NOBODY knew. You would have never guessed when she walked into a room with her infectious smile and laugh. She suffered from anxiety and insomnia and tried everything in her power to just try to sleep. Using prescription and over the counter sleep aids, in addition to wine, she tried desperately to calm her mind and rest. But her liver couldn't handle it. She woke up one morning in full-fledged liver failure and battled it for 5 months before she died. This entire account, all of the effort I put into making sure this doesn't keep happening to people, is to honor my sister. I will continue to educate about the harms of alcohol. I will continue to advocate for sobriety. I will continue to use scare tactics if I have to. Because this shit is REAL. And alcohol should scare you.ESPECIALLY if it's used in conjunction with any type of anxiety medication and/or Tylenol PM. I recover out loud so nobody like Karenza has to die in silence. If you are struggling, PLEASE reach out. You are not alone. You don't have to do this alone. You are loved." Join the SobahSistahs Sobriety Club today with this 30-Day FREE Trial

SobahSistahs Empowerment Club In this episode I chat with Ginger Robinson, known to her followers as Mrs. Robinson. Ginger is a 53-year-old online content creator and media personality from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has been sober since 2003, after many MANY attempts to stop drinking. A suburban mom of 2 older kids, a son who's 18 and a 28-year-old daughter, Ginger feels as if she's lived multiple lifetimes, categorized by pain and struggle to live a content, serene life while also battling Major Depressive Disorder and crippling anxiety, all while maintaining her sobriety over the years. Growing up as an only child, she learned to be independent at a very early age, and while navigating life, there was a constant conflict of being an overachiever and feeling “less than.” Ginger graduated from college in the early 90s, got her Masters Degree, and worked as a teacher in her early 20s. She moved around a little (San Diego, Ocean City, Boca Raton, Philly, New Canaan, CT, and Pittsburgh) before actually getting her shit together in 2003. Marriage, having kids, and getting sober changed her career trajectory, and she began working in advertising selling tiny newspaper ads (yes it was that long ago that people were still reading newspapers). She became dedicated to the industry and worked her ass off climbing the corporate career ladder, eventually being recruited by one of the first Fortune 500 tech dot coms. Working in the true Don Draper Mad Men world, she had a very successful career as a well-respected senior software exec in the ad industry, specializing in helping large companies with their digital programmatic advertising, data analytics, and social branding strategies. Just before her 50th birthday (and at the start of COVID), she switched gears into content creation and the adult industry and Mrs. Robinson was born (shout out to 1967's The Graduate). The goal then (and still is) to continue to try to break the glass ceiling on what older women can and cannot do according to societal attempts to convince us that “younger is better” in the world of beauty, fashion, brains, and sex. Sobriety and recovery help tremendously and have been the foundation of her life both professionally and personally. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did. Today's guest is a lovely gal named, Didi. Didi lives in Australia but is originally from the UK. Her accent is just the best! A little bit about Did: I run a recruitment/headhunting business by day and a mindset & transformation coaching business on the side called sober chapters. I was a party girl in my teens & 20s. As I entered my 30's I soon realized I could no longer handle hangovers. I slowly began to see that alcohol was keeping me stuck in ground hog day & patterns that were blocking me from attracting in the things I desired most in life (love & purpose). I was sober curious for years & would take regular breaks from alcohol until finally on July 4th last year I decided to remove alcohol for a chapter (until I'm 40). I went all in on facing my fears, doing the inner work, breaking the patterns that were keeping me stuck. In turn, reinventing my forever. I am now passionate about sharing my story in order to inspire others to remove alcohol and to help them identify & move through the blocks that are keeping them stuck just as I was. Anne is just the sweetest. This is her story. "Alcohol sucks. It stole so much from me.It stole my childhood, it stole my Father.. it stole our family. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy… John 10:10 Alcohol was the enemy. It was always a “mean girl” in my life.I hated it… and yet… I loved it. I hated the power and mental stronghold it had over me. Until…Exactly one day… after my 35th birthday I woke up.. on the couch hungover… I watched my beautiful girls and my life go on around me.. I never wanted to feel the guilt and shame I always felt internally.. EVER AGAIN.I knew I was created and capable of so much more. This year has been a gift. It has been a privilege.. not a punishment & I'm honored to share my story. Today you will hear Amanda's story. Amanda is a wife, a mom and someone I am happy to call a friend. If you have been to SobahSistahs support groups then you know Amanda. She is always there to bring humor to an otherwise heavy topic. You will see her mowing the lawn one second then weedwacking to meal prepping and then working under with her kiddos with a strobe light. During this episode Amanda shares about her complicated relationship with alcohol. How she always knew it wasn't serving her. She shares about her infertility struggles, her health issues, and how alcohol made her hate herself. She ate organic, made homemade meals, worked out daily and how alcohol just didn't align with who she wanted to be. At the end of her drinking she suffered from chronic gastritis, skin breakouts, dysregulated hormones, bloating, puffiness and ultimately an autoimmune flare up that would push her into quitting drinking alcohol. She is now the Founder of Sister Herd, Accountability Coaching. Follow her on IG here FREE 3-DAY Trial to The SobahSistahs Empowerment Club! Like many of you, I spent years caught in a cycle of negative self-talk and self-criticism. I know what it's like to wake up in the morning and feel crushed under the weight of regret, guilt, and self-loathing. But I also know that change is possible. With time, patience, and consistent effort, I was able to shift the narrative, to replace the harsh words and self-judgment with compassion, forgiveness, and, most importantly, self-love. And I want to assure you that this transformation is within your reach too. We are all works in progress, navigating this journey with courage and determination. It's essential to understand that mistakes or setbacks do not define you. Embracing an alcohol-free lifestyle is not merely a choice; it is a superpower that has allowed me to unleash the full force of my inner strength, resilience, and authenticity. It has transformed my life in ways I never thought possible, and I am here to ignite that same power within each and every one of you. When I decided to break free from the chains of alcohol, I discovered an unyielding sense of empowerment that resonated deep within my core. I realized that true power lies in choosing to live life on my own terms, refusing to be confined by societal norms or the pressures of conformity. By saying "no" to alcohol, I said "yes" to myself—to my dreams, my ambitions, and my authentic self. This superpower has allowed me to step into the fullness of who I am. It has enabled me to embrace my vulnerabilities and insecurities, transforming them into sources of strength and resilience. I have come to understand that true power is not found in numbing our emotions or escaping from reality but in facing life's challenges head-on, fully present and fully alive. By going alcohol-free, I have reclaimed my physical and mental well-being. I am now the embodiment of vitality, energy, and self-care. No longer weighed down by the negative effects of alcohol, I have tapped into a wellspring of energy that propels me forward. I feel unstoppable, ready to conquer any obstacles that come my way and to achieve greatness in all areas of my life.
