With his work spanning some 15 years of commercial releases, the Dutch master is a welcome returnee to Meanwhile with a stellar quartet of original tracks. A regular across the industry’s finest purveyors of modern and cerebral progressive house music, Alex O’Rion has constantly found his music featured on such esteemed imprints as Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat, Guy J’s Lost & Found and Nick Warren’s Hope. A regular visitor to the upper echelons of the Beatport charts, over a million Spotify streams in 2020 and 4,000 followers points to broad appeal and wide-ranging support. Now returning to Meanwhile after a trio of remixes for label head-honchos GMJ & Matter on June 2020’s “Gauntlet” and February 2021’s “The Path”, Alex O’Rion now returns to the label with a devastating 4-track original EP of unrivalled quality. The “Echium” title track is a blistering sub-bass monster that drives along powerfully on a bed of ticking hi-hats and chest-thumping kick. Building in momentum, smooth pads and effortless synth lines flow across the 8-minute piece before revelling in a stripped-back breakdown. Picking up the pace again in the third movement, gorgeous harmonic overtones layer delicately across each other, borne of never-ending delay sweeps. “Stranded” continues the powerful rhythmic narrative and otherworldly sonic landscape before a percussive loop provides subtle melodic phrasing. Shifting synth sequences bisect the left-right spectrum as waves of white noise fall against a rocky outcrop of percussive hats. Melodic lines continue to evolve in delicate patterns into the second half in a sonic palette of sheer bliss. A sumptuous bassline groove propels “The Chase” through its hypnotic paces, accompanied by a chugging rhythmic backdrop. Simultaneously, gentle synth motifs pulsate in side-chained synchronicity as a rich symphony of sound swells into the second half against a plucked earworm phrase. The result is a dynamic and devastating club-friendly track that is sure to inspire a multitude of hands-in-the-air moments. “The Serpent” ends the quadrilogy with its rippling sound effects that cascade in spiral patterns against a melodious foreground. Delicate percussive patterns marry with a deep resonant kick to provide a rhythmic anchor, giving freeform synth motifs the opportunity to express a meandering sonic voyage that reaches a powerful crescendo at the midpoint. Hitting its stride again in the third movement with additional melodic sequencing, the result is a charismatic end to an outstanding original EP. This month's mix comes takes all the energy and frustrations of lockdown and funnels it into a 2 hour solid wall of sound! There's a couple wonderful nostalgic re-works early on from Butch in the form of 'Lale' sampling Baby D and Morttagua’s immense remix of the sublime classic from Solid Sessions, Janeiro. Tracks featured throughout the mix come from my back catalogue from the past 3 years and there’s a good few that I never aired but still sound fresh as a daisy today. There’s also the latest from my ‘Man of the moment’ Alex O’Rion and one of my all-time faves Chris Cargo. As per usual I’ve kept the energy levels moving, building the set through several stages with twists and turns along the way. He started to experiment with music at 14 year old and was inspired by the likes of Sasha, Nick Warren and John Digweed. Although his first appearance was in the trance scene, Alex soon found out that deep progressive music was his passion. The switch to progressive house was a massive decision and a very successful one. Alex has released over 150 tracks on beatport and has the ongoing support of many big names like Hernán Cattáneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Cid Inc, Eelke Kleijn, Guy Mantzur, Quivver amongst others. After his debut EP on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat in 2018 things started looking really bright for the Dutchman. Later that year he delivered two more EP's for Sudbeat. Every track of those releases made it into the beatport top 100 best selling tracks with no less than 3 tracks in the top 10. In 2019 he signed his first EP on Nick Warren's beloved HOPE recordings. 'Timeless' instantly landed in beatport's top 10 and got supported by the biggest names out there. Alex had no intentions of slowing down and released his music on the highly respected REPLUG label hosted by Dan Orsen and Cid Inc. At the end of 2019 he will make his debut on Movement Recordings and will be represented worldwide by Movement Bookings as well. This year saw Alex also notching up live appearances as a dj. He played on Sudbeat’s Showcase in Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek and will also perform during ADE, plus notable appearances at Nature One Festival in Germany, Ministry Of Sound in London and Es Paradis in Ibiza.

Автором этого прекрасного интро-трека является успешный британский диджей и продюсер Тим Грин. Предпоследний релиз любимого лейбла Shanti Radio Moskow от Soul Of Void под названием Viha очень хорошо вписывается в атмосферу первого часа программы. Viha несет в себе фирменное звучание лейбла и я с нетерпением жду выхода данного релиза на виниле с традиционно красивейшим конвертом. "Кто принимает - наполняет ладони, кто же отдает - наполняет сердце" - таков смысловой посыл релиза от Soul Of Void. Свежайший релиз Sounds of My Land от лейбла Dreamers в авторстве аргентинского музыканта Isaac Differding. Вся EP написана по методичке уважаемого мною лейбла, а именно, максимум мелодичности и вдумчивости композиций, издаваемых Dreamers Records. Сверхпопулярный рекординг Lost & Found порадовал свежеиспеченной пластинкой The Great Escape от московского дуэта Volen Sentir. Релиз вышел во всех возможных форматах и на данный момент пользуется большим спросом в диджейских кругах по всему миру. Голландский продюсер и диджей Alex O'Rion проделал огромную работу, записав Alone EP для любимого мною Sudbeat. Все дело в том, что весь релиз абсолютно качественный и все три релиза хотелось поиграть в шоу, но сегодня свое место в эфире получает разрывающий душу и сердце With You. Повторюсь, релиз очень качественный и я уверен, он вам понравится. Коллаборация музыкантов D-Nox и K.A.L.I.L., вылилась в EP для культового австралийского лейбла Balance Music. Сегодня я представляю вашему внимаю работу под названием Mayahl, которая несет в себе абсолютно все, что я так ценю в прогрессиве - плотный бас, глубину, мелодичность, красивые пэды и смены тональностей. Данный релиз - это такой себе "серый кардинал" в музыкальной обойме артиста, планируещего играть этот трек. Я даже открою секрет, что данный трек изначально получил от меня звание трека месяца, но в последний момент уступил данную позицию своему конкуренту. Все же, я считаю Mayahl не хватает одной очень важной детали - хитовости. Первый релиз новоиспеченного венгерского лейбла Star Dive Records ознаменовался выходом World We Created EP от Sapienta. На первый взгляд Sapienta является новым именем на электронной сцене, но на самом деле, это новое альтер эго известного продюсера и ремиксера Robert R. Hardy, хорошо знакомого моему постоянному слушателю. Американский музыкант Brian Cid и его новый трек Cometas Y Cometas, вышедший на собственном детище Брайана Endangered Records, который создавался для издания более эклектичной, андеграундной стороны дэнс-музыки. В регулярной рубрике TRACK OF THE MONTH у меня сегодня презентация нового импринта с главным офисом в Берлине - это Strangely Enough, новое детище немецкого музыканта и диск-жокея Мэттиаса Мейера. Дебютным релизом Strangely Enough стала пластинка Мэттиаса с одноименным названием Strangely Enough EP, трек Fantazy с которой, я гордо объявляю треком месяца в моей программе. Релиз вышел как в цифре, так и на виниле, поэтому всем любителям классического носителя welcome в лучшие рекорд-сторы. Владелец лейбла Or Two Strangers музыкант и продюсер Antrim выпустил релиз White Moon, на который сделал потрясающий ремикс вышеупомянутый голландец Alex O'Rion. В лучший традицях современного progressive саунда, рермикс получился очень атмосферным, воздушным и качающим. Канадский продюсер Cesar Romero, более известный как Simply City отметился на сборнике рекорд-компании Sudbeat добротным треком Amar, который раскрывает классический progressive уклон второй половины программы. Бразильский музыкант Alec Araujo своим треком Stranded In A Dream отметился на уважаемом мною лейбле Balkan Connection South America. Я выбрал версию в исполнении греческого ремиксера Nikko Mavridis, которая держит слушателя в тонусе от начала до конца. Мои друзья из проекта blaktone представили на лейбле Sincopat свой авторский трек Uma I, который я не могу не поставить в эфире MAXIMUM. Отличный, будоражащий сознание трек, который как нельзя кстати в данный временной отрезок программы. Вот кто удивил меня в этом месяце, так это уважаемый The Soundgarden. Ник Уоррен подписал себе на лейбл проект Six, которые своим треком с одноименным названием буквально ворвались в ряды резидентов лейбла. Очень напористый и динамичный трек, абсолютно не схожий на привычное звучание британского рекординга. Беларусский музыкант Michael A на собственном лейбле Genesis выпустил потрясающий трек Avalon, который очень плотно засел в моей голове и я не могу не поделится этой красотой с вами. Киевский лейбл Eleatics продолжает радовать качественными релизами. На этот раз ребята выпускают громкую EP от норвежского дуэта Ost & Kjex под названием Kaputt, из которой я представляю ремикс от именитых итальянцев Moonwalk. Сербский progressive house лейбл Balkan Connection у меня сегодня представлен релизом колумбийской коллаборации музыкантов Mental Order и Tim Othy, для которого они записали разрывающий душу трек Tilan. Звучание музыкантов я с закрытыми глазами отнес бы к Sudbeat, поэтому был удивлен, что ребята остановились с данным творением всего лишь на сербском импринте. Уверен, у ребят большое будущее на электронно-танцевальной сцене и громкие релизы на именитых лейблах. Заканчивать сегодняшний спецвыпуск будем на мажорной ноте с лучшим для меня лейблом 2019 года Sudbeat Records. Свежайший трек Artichoke от израильского артиста DJ Zombi, отлично работает как outro, к тому же звучит просто великолепно, за что Эрнану и Гразиано (владельцы Sudbeat) огромные респекты! В любимой мною рубрике BONUS TRACK представляю легендарный, я бы даже сказал культовый проект UNKLE с известнейшим треком Reign, вокальную партию в котором исполнил известный британский вокалист Ian Brown. Сегодня я выбрал потрясный брейксовый ремикс от William Brunner, более известного в электронных кругах как Will Brunner, PMT и False Prophet. Вот таким должен быть качественный брейкбит, дорогие друзья! Уверен, этот ремикс надолго засядет у вас в памяти, для этого, собственно, рубрика BONUS TRACK и существует. The Colombian born, Israel based artist made his debut on the Colombian imprint in June of 2017 with a remix (in collaboration with Kamilo Sanclemente) of 'Expression' by Dmitry Molosh. 2018 then saw Golan return for his second remix, a stunning take on Andre Sobota's 'Missing Line'. Also laying claim to releases on Lonya's Asymmetric Recordings and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, Golan now returns to Clubsonica for his first single alongside remixes from Alex O'Rion and Supacooks. Sitting comfortably in deeper territory Golan crafts a redolent framework complete with harmonious grooves, sultry hooks and spirited electronics. Diversifying his portfolio further Golan's masterstroke is to collaborate and introduce the gorgeous vocals of MILA. Hailing from Colombia and an artist of profound talent, she infuses the piece with authentic soul and genuine emotion. Breathy wails and romantic storyboards come in waves, effortlessly drifting through a maze of organic drums and melodic clusters, before reaching a serene and spiritually uplifting finale. The first interpretation of 'Shush' is provided by Alex O'Rion who makes his label debut. In addition to appearances on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, the Dutch artist has also found a home on Nick Warren's Hope Recordings and ICONYC. Always a regular in Beatport's Progressive House charts, Alex now debuts on Clubsonica with a superb remix of 'Shush'. Aptly coined 'Deep Dub', the Dutch artist strips the groove down, putting a focus on harmonious bass and ghostly vocal fragments. Dreamy yet powerful, it's free flowing narrative quickly draws you in to a storyboard of luminous tones and dusty sweeps, while a carefully crafted break sits at the core, before effortlessly shifting energy into a glowing finale. The release concludes with Supacooks providing the second and final interpretation of 'Shush'. The Armenian duo have also been a staple in Beatport's Progressive House charts for some time. A string of well received releases for Beatfreak Recordings, Dear Deer and Parquet Recordings have made them one of hottest production duos of the moment. Now making a welcome debut on Clubsonica, Supacooks deliver a superb rendition of 'Shush' to cap the release off in style. This week we had local Swerve favourite somersault in for the subsonic take over. The man him self has come through a few times now and needs little introduction. We had a good chat about what he has coming up, what he is gonna be wearing and some other banter. Here is a bit of info Somersault’s music is uncompromising. Heavily influenced by the shuffling rhythms of dark UK garage, atmospheric techno and deep melodic house, Somersault likes to straddle the line between the delirious highs and murky lows, a sound that’s brought his unique sets to outdoor festivals and underground clubs. The young producer has come a long way from working as a funk guitarist to producing music played on international festival stages by Jon Convex. While his initial entry into electronic music was with electronica duo This Mess, Somersault came into being while travelling through Europe and immersing in the rich club culture in 2014. He is however, no newcomer to dance music having played at major Australian festivals Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Dragon Dreaming and Burning Seed as well as at major Sydney club nights S.A.S.H, Something Else, Blueprint, Foxlife and Cakes supporting PleasureKraft, Pepperpot, Simon Caldwell, Made In Paris, Politics of Dancing and Robbie Lowe. Somersault's eagerly awaited Stampede EP is soon to be released on Upon Access, Sydney’s groundbreaking new label curated by Techno Heavyweight Made In Paris. The EP has been causing a stir in promo pools worldwide gaining praising support from Oliver Schories, Laurent Garnier, Marco Carola, Riva Starr, Sasse, Uone, Joe T Vannelli Steve Ward, Sossa, Joris Voorn, Horse Meat Disco, Marc Poppcke In early 2016 Somersault released his most ambitious work: the four track concept ‘Ultramarine EP’ on Build It Records. The EP instantly entered the Beatport top 100 Deep House Chart and received over 40,000 plays on soundcloud within the first week of release. ‘Ultramarine’ covers much deeper, darker and groovier territory than the producer’s prior work. 2015 saw the release of three widely acclaimed EPs on US imprints Build It and Particles (Proton). His release ‘Devotion/Respect’ had over 15,000 plays on Soundcloud after only two days. ‘Space Is Big’, the producer’s most successful Particles release, has since been remixed by progressive house luminaries Alex O’Rion and Sebastian Weikum. Somersault’s schedule is filling with two planned releases on Australia’s prolific Open Records and bookings at Bohemian Beatfreaks Festival, Squared Senses Festival, S.A.S.H, Foxlife and Something Else. We hear this week from d3vilalias!"For this week's edition trancit, I decided to display my diverse taste in dance music. This past year I have had the privilege to open for many well-known trance and progressive producers and DJs (i.e. Estiva, Ronski Speed, Paul Thomas, Kyau & Albert, Sied van Riel, Mark Eteson, etc). As an opener it is my job to prepare the room for the headliner. It is an incredibly difficult job. You can't go too soft or everyone will get bored, but you can't go too hard, or you will kill the room and tire everyone out. For this mix, I tired to display what I might play in an opening set. Mind you, towards the end, I throw in some pretty banging trance and normally I would not play this type of trance in an opening set. I start the mix deep and groovy (just way I like it), with some great tunes from Dusky, Leftwing & Kody, Robosonic and Joris Voorn. This mix starts at 122 and builds up to 136 in just over an hour. From there, I play a wonderful tune by Jeremy Orlander into a great technoish tune by Lank. I slowly start turning the bpm up while retaining that groovy vibe. I continue with a great remix by Zach Roth into a wonderful ch00n by Alex O'Rion. Probably one of my favorite tunes from 2013 follows, Sunset by Gal Abutbul. I remember listening to The Blizzard's ASOT 400 set and I heard this amazing mashup of Longest Road and Different Feeling. I emailed them, asking if I could have a copy. Luckily for me, they sent me a copy. I play this mashup in all my sets. It absolutely destroys the floor and its the perfect tune as you get ready to switch with the headliner (never my last tune though, never end your set with a vocal). Plus who doesn't love to play some Simon Patterson?! From there, I start heading into more familiar territory. Playing some Max Braiman and a 7 Skies remix of DK's Breathe. I end the mix with two old tunes I found while stumbling around Beatport. A great remix by George Acosta of a song he produced with Mike Shiver and a wonderful vocal trance tune by Summer Sessions with the euphoric vocals by Tiff Lacey. At this point I have reach 136/137bpm.I hope you guys enjoy this mix. I recorded it while I waited to have my car towed since it broke down on the highway (recorded on the PA Pike in Western PA).
