It's been the longest dry spell we've every had this past year for putting up our house mixes. Our apologies, however, we have not slowed down in buying more house tracks. We're junkies!! We've bought over 200 tracks in 5 separate batches from Traxsource and Beatport since the last mix was posted on our site. Been working on two mixes, which we believe you're going to LOVE. This mix, "Ritual Healing" has gone through probably at least eight versions >> each one had some parts that were really amazing and other parts that just sucked! It has been very frustrating, but accepted as part of our ritual of growing in love with new house tracks and only having a few hours a week these days. Most weekends, we listen to about 500+ tracks on Traxsource & Beatport in the late AMs. Jim, my best friend, DJ partner and fellow house fiend takes on tracks on Beatport and I take on Traxsource. So after about 2,000-2,500 tracks, I usually have about 90-130 tracks total in my virtual crate. Then over a few weekends, I'll dwindle that down to 30-40, then try to find a 15-20% discount code or sit on the crate till Traxsource emails a discount. Then buy, then listen to the tracks in traffic to and from my day job in Digital Marketing at a downtown Toronto agency. Then make a mix on a Sat. morning, shaking the whole house for hours (it's fantastic!!), and then listen to it for a few days. If it sucks, then it gets deleted and back to the drawing board we go the next Sat. It's such a healing ritual because I usually take all my life and work stress and pour it into each mix. In the process, hopefully putting mostly negative energy with some positive and transforming it into something beautiful. Sharing my favourite house tracks in the way that I want them to sound if I was dancing my ass off at a crystal clear and loud club sound system!! How did you guys meet once? A: We met through skateboarding in high school and eventually started a band. We played death metal for many years. Q: Talking about your mix - how did these tracks have an impact on your common doings? A: Many of them have made a huge impact, I would say. The mix comes in three parts. First there is a section of tunes we grew up with in the 1980’s. In the 1980’s we got cable-TV in our area and with it Sky Channel, Sky Trax and the whole of the British electronic Pop explosion into our living rooms. A common thing to do after school would be to hang around at some friends house, looking for candy and looking at music videos. I think this period explains why we came to be so attracted to Electronic Music later in our lives. The second part is from 1995-1998, when we fell in love with the Electronic Music of that time. Some wonderful tunes in there by Scorn, The Black Dog, LFO etc. It made a huge impact. Finishing off is a house mix, with some of the tunes and artists that really got us hooked on House Music. Some of these playful tunes by Motorbass, Herbert, Nôze, Markus Nikolai etc, inspired us a lot. Q: Which future projects are on the way? A: Indeed. This autumn / winter we will release a compilation featuring our friends in the Oslo scene. Coming out on our own Snick Snack Music. Really looking forward to that one as there is a lot of talent and creativity here. We hope the compilation will help shed some light on the whole situation. It's been the longest dry spell we've every had this past year for putting up our house mixes. Our apologies, however, we have not slowed down in buying more house tracks. We're junkies!! We've bought over 200 tracks in 5 separate batches from Traxsource and Beatport since the last mix was posted on our site. Been working on two mixes, which we believe you're going to LOVE. This mix, "Ritual Healing" has gone through probably at least eight versions >> each one had some parts that were really amazing and other parts that just sucked! It has been very frustrating, but accepted as part of our ritual of growing in love with new house tracks and only having a few hours a week these days. Most weekends, we listen to about 500+ tracks on Traxsource & Beatport in the late AMs. Jim, my best friend, DJ partner and fellow house fiend takes on tracks on Beatport and I take on Traxsource. So after about 2,000-2,500 tracks, I usually have about 90-130 tracks total in my virtual crate. Then over a few weekends, I'll dwindle that down to 30-40, then try to find a 15-20% discount code or sit on the crate till Traxsource emails a discount. Then buy, then listen to the tracks in traffic to and from my day job in Digital Marketing at a downtown Toronto agency. Then make a mix on a Sat. morning, shaking the whole house for hours (it's fantastic!!), and then listen to it for a few days. If it sucks, then it gets deleted and back to the drawing board we go the next Sat. It's such a healing ritual because I usually take all my life and work stress and pour it into each mix. In the process, hopefully putting mostly negative energy with some positive and transforming it into something beautiful. Sharing my favourite house tracks in the way that I want them to sound if I was dancing my ass off at a crystal clear and loud club sound system!! EXTINZION all the way from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina presenting an exclusive mix in the second hour. Besnik Koshi aka Extenzion was born September 12th, 1984 in Sarajevo in the corridor of the maternity hospital since he was so impatient to see the world around him. He started showing interest in the electronic music at the beginning of year 2000 when he attended festival „Futura“ which was first festival of this kind in SE Europe. After that he joined organization „Positive Sound“ where he started learning and improving his knowledge as well as working on promotion of parties and electronic culture in Sarajevo. At the beginning of year 2005 in cooperation with a very good friend of his, Mersel Bujak (aka Infected) he started working on a concept of a radio show „E Music Magazine“ on a local radio station 202 which was always symbol of urban, alternative music and experimental sound in Sarajevo. After sudden success of this radio show at the end of year 2005 they started working on the project „10 years of electronic scene in Sarajevo“ which was broadcasted as New Year's program on Radio 202. After that they worked on promoting Festival Exit (in 2005 and 2006) and through their voluntary work supported rebuilding Dom mladih – Center Skenderija which was simbol of youth even in the past and through that accomplished cooperation with Revival Festival. In 2006 he started working as a resident DJ in Sarajevo's clubs „The Bar“ and „Cinema Sloga“ where he shared his knowledge about electronic music and love for it through his sets that were always different and which were blending Deep-House, Tech-House, Progressive-House and Techno sounds. In July 2006 he had joint performance with DJ Incefected under the name „Infected & Extension“ on a festival Exit on a set DJ Superstar where they had impressive performance. After that performances were just lining up in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Kosovo where he always tried to transfer his positive energy and knowledge he gained. He created many compilation CDs that left impressive impact and got amazing feedback from the audience (Progressive Sevdah, Cold & Heat, I Go Deep, Elixir of Life). dattrax: It was with great sadness as we saw facebook light up with 'Rest in Peace' shout outs to "Romanthony" (real name Anthony Moore, 1967 – May 2013). In Toronto we grew up with Romanthony records like his four-vinyl "Romanworld" compilation, and singles in that album and pre-dated that album like "Now You Want Me" (a Toronto anthem at 3am sat. ngt. warehouse sessions- one of our favourite instrumental house tracks). Other fav vinyls like "Testify", "Trojan Horse", "Bring U Up" and everyone's favorite "Let Me Show You Love". Time moves past us relentlessly and we have to be thankful and make the best of each day. House DJ & Producer, was born in Paris in 1986. His first approach with the DJ'ing world came aged 12 influenced by the great masters of house music like Kerri Chandler, MAW, Lil'Louis, Mr. G, Ricky Morrison, Paul Johnson, Todd Terry, Derrick Carter & Pete Heller. Julian started to produce one year ago simply because he wanted to transform his ideas into music and to develop a new & original sound. He can define his personal style that blends underground sounds nearby to old skool sonorities with most glamorous elements of old-style house. In April 2010 he release his first hit track "Satisfaction" on Diynamic Music which the home of an impressive roster including Ost & Kjex,Solomun,David August, Uner & Coyu to mention a few the tune was a overnight success which was played and charted by many great artists even getting to number 7 in the beatport House Chart.
