In this legendary episode of Dem Vinyl Boyz, we saddle up with four of country music’s most iconic outlaws—Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson—as we spin their unforgettable 1985 debut as The Highwaymen. Aptly titled Highwayman, this album wasn’t just a collaboration—it was a supergroup moment that brought together decades of grit, wisdom, and storytelling into one timeless record. The title track, "Highwayman," became an instant classic, featuring each artist taking a verse as a reincarnated soul traveling through time and history. From the haunting delivery to the poetic lyrics, it set the tone for an album that explores the American spirit, redemption, rebellion, and brotherhood. Other standout tracks like "Desperados Waiting for a Train" and "The Twentieth Century Is Almost Over" offer equal parts reflection and rowdiness, with that unmistakable outlaw flair. In this episode, we break down the formation of the group, the chemistry between these four legends, and how Highwayman became a defining moment not just for them—but for country music as a whole. It’s an album that honors tradition while forging its own trail across the dusty highways of Americana. Join Dem Vinyl Boyz as we celebrate Highwayman, an album where four rebel hearts came together and reminded the world what real country sounds like—raw, honest, and unforgettable.

Ever since March 15, when three flights carrying hundreds of men who had been afforded zero due process left United States airspace and landed in El Salvador, American democracy has been hurtling toward an internal conflict that the federal judiciary would very much prefer to avoid, but just keeps getting more unavoidable. On this week's Amicus podcast, Mark Joseph Stern is joined by Leah Litman for the first half of the show. They discuss how, faced with a Trump administration that claims the ability to rewrite the Constitution on the fly, denies the ability to follow court orders, and dangles the possibility of extending its lawlessness to renditioning American citizens to a foreign prison, the federal judiciary this week did what the Supreme Court failed to do last week: explicitly call out the regime's lawless actions. Aptly, Leah's new book, Lawless: How the Supreme Court Runs on Conservative Grievance, Fringe Theories, and Bad Vibes, comes out on May 13 and they discuss how the highest court's enabling of Trump and MAGA more broadly has brought us to the constitutional precipice.  Next: In the six months since the re-election of Donald Trump, abortion and reproductive rights have been squished way below the fold, news-wise, obscured by an ever-mounting pile of terrifying headlines. But outside of the public glare, the legal landscape of reproductive rights has been shifting. Dahlia Lithwick talks to Mary Ziegler about her book Personhood: The New Civil War Over Reproduction.   Together, they examine how notions of fetal and embryonic personhood are fueling punitive actions against women, physicians, and those who provide or seek healthcare related to reproduction. The Amalfi Coast is a dream place, and when I saw it for the first time, something shifted in me.  I knew I had to live there.   -Lauren Birmingham Born into an Italian-American family of great chefs, Lauren Birmingham has an innate love of food and family.   As a child growing up in Cranston, Rhode Island, she spent hours swinging in a hammock under a cherry tree,  reading the classics.  This fascination with reading, combined with her passion for travel, inspired Lauren to explore Europe as an adult.  On a trip to Italy's Amalfi Coast, she came around a corner in her Fiat 500 and couldn't believe her eyes.   “Thecolor of the houses built into the mountains was like confetti.  They were the prettiest pink, blue, and yellow, and the color of the Tyrrhenian Sea was an unmatchable shade of blue. It's a magical place, unlike any I'd ever seen in my life.”  From that moment, Lauren came back to Positano as often as she could,  running her PR business from a rented studio while developing her Cooking Vacations Italy culinary tour company.   cooking-vacations.com.  Along the way, she met and married an Italian race car driver named Rino Piscitelli.  At the top of her career,  she decided to write a cookbook that would include the recipes of 5-star Michelin Chef Andrea Migliaccio and become a 360-page labor of love.  Says Lauren:  “ It took years to travel around the Amalfi Coast and Capri, interviewing in Italian and then translating into English, plus the recipes had to be translated from metric to imperial.”  Aptly named It's A Dream Place: Stories & Recipes of Food, Love & the Amalfi Coast, this interview with Lauren will set your compass toward the next flight to Italy!   #amalficoast #italy #food #michelinchef

Thank you for joining us on the yearend episode of Poetic Resurrection. The year of 2024 brought about a whirlwind of changes in society, politics, and spirituality. It was a time of both struggle and beauty, as people grappled with the shifting landscape of the world. And as we enter this new year, I am excited to announce an upcoming podcast with author Chuck Rosenthal in January. But that's just the beginning - our next season, starting in February, will feature captivating video and audio episodes focused on my latest book, "Inspire Me: Awakening Dreams." Aptly titled "In Time of Need," this season is set to be a journey of self-discovery and growth for all who tune in. However, as we approach February 2025, the title may evolve to better reflect the essence of the show. As the New Year approaches, I send my heartfelt wishes for prosperity and blessings to all of my dear family, friends, and listeners. May the coming year bring joy, love, and success in all aspects of your life. And as we bid farewell to this year, I can't help but express my gratitude to each and every one of you for being a part of my journey. I extend my sincerest gratitude to our esteemed guests of 2024: Ruben Rodriguez – Book Editor Jack Remick - Writer Rha Arayal - Poet Lynne Thompson - Poet Laureate of Los Angeles Luis J Rodriguez - Former Poet Laureate of Los Angeles Inam Inamullah - Multitalented Author and Artist Hannah Parry - Author Matthew Carauddo - Writer TeZa Lord - Author Nathan Singer - Acclaimed Novelist, I was honored to have Nathan write the foreword of my new book. So, here's to a fantastic New Year filled with endless possibilities and endless love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Happy New Year! Poem/Story As the clock struck midnight, a cascade of colorful fireworks burst through the darkness, illuminating the sky with bursts of light and sound. The air was filled with the scent of sulfur and the cheers of people hugging and celebrating around me. In that moment, I could feel a surge of emotions - excitement for the future, hope for what is to come, and determination to face whatever challenges may arise. As I looked around at my loved ones and supporters, I felt overwhelming gratitude for their unwavering presence in my life. Together, we stood on the cusp of a new year, ready to embark on a journey filled with unity, health, kindness, and resilience. We held onto the power of hope to fuel our dreams, the courage to stand up for what is right even in the face of adversity and fear, and the wisdom to guide us through the unknown path ahead. And as we stepped into the new year, may we find peace within ourselves, strengthen our relationships with love, fulfill our purpose in our work, and cherish joy in every single moment. Here's to a Happy New Year full of endless possibilities and endless love!

Welcome to the Arete Coach Podcast, hosted by Severin Sorensen. In this episode titled "From Government Dough to Helping People Grow: A Coach's Journey in Mastering ICF Coaching Competencies," we feature Terrie Lupberger, MCC. Recorded on September 29th, 2022, this episode explores Terrie's remarkable transition from a 14-year career at the U.S. Department of Treasury to becoming a prominent figure in the coaching industry. Aptly captured in the episode's title, Terrie's journey showcases how she leveraged her government experience to help people grow and develop through coaching. Terrie Lupberger is an ICF Master Certified Coach (MCC) with over 27 years of experience in the coaching industry. After a successful career at the U.S. Department of Treasury, she transitioned to coaching, where she has made significant contributions to the field. Additionally, she is the director of training with the Coach Partnership, offering the Newfield Coaching Program in Asia. Terrie's expertise spans global leadership, management, executive coaching, and change management. She has been involved with the International Coach Federation (ICF) since its early days, contributing to the development of the original core competencies. Passionate about working with women leaders and nonprofit CEOs, Terrie helps them navigate unique challenges and make meaningful impacts. Her approach to coaching emphasizes exploring the human condition, challenging limiting narratives, and creating safe spaces for personal and professional growth. Throughout the conversation, Terrie shares insights into her extensive coaching career and her process of mastering the ICF Core Competencies. She highlights the importance of creating a safe space for clients, practicing deep listening, and asking powerful questions—all crucial elements of the ICF coaching framework. Terrie's philosophy of "it's all made up" encourages both coaches and clients to question their assumptions and explore new perspectives, aligning closely with the ICF competency of creating awareness. The episode delves into Terrie's thoughts on the future of coaching and the need for coaches to adapt to increasing complexity in the world. Her emphasis on balancing scientific evidence with the art of human connection in coaching reflects a nuanced understanding of the profession's multifaceted nature. As the title suggests, Terrie's journey from "government dough to helping people grow" is not just about career transition but about the continuous process of mastering coaching competencies to create transformative experiences for clients. AgEmerge Podcast Episode 136 is dedicated to David Brandt, of Brandt Farms and Walnut Creek Seed. If you know your soil health, no-till history, and follow the leaders in these areas then you know how fortunate we were to get to visit with David before his passing. Watch the episode here: https://youtu.be/Hmsi9yDDtbM We lost David in a tragic vehicle accident on May 21st, 2023. Earlier that year he'd made a 2023 visit to Sinsinawa Mound in Wisconsin, where the Sinsinawa River begins its 21-mile journey to the Mighty Mississippi. He recognized the Mound as a place where this message of holistic land stewardship could flourish. He planted the seed. This vision has taken root at Sinsinawa Mound in Southwest Wisconsin. Aptly named Fields of Sinsinawa: A Farmer-Led Learning Center, brings the message of healthy soil for a healthy planet to the Midwest and beyond. David is often referred to as the “godfather” of conservation agriculture and soil health. His message has had worldwide impact. He mentored many farmers who admired his practical approach and the ways he generously shared what he learned from the soil during his 50-year farming career. You'll find more information on how to connect with the Fields of Sinsinawa: A Farmer-Led Learning Center here: https://mcusercontent.com/d34a1e6b8b607f4dc0d40fa39/files/eb5a6547-135e-e5f2-cea2-5ac0f4d75e45/Fos_Funding_Packet_d9.pdf Donate to the Fields of Sinsinawa: A Farmer-Led Learning Center here: https://mcusercontent.com/d34a1e6b8b607f4dc0d40fa39/files/d4beeef8-68e3-3555-c5db-5a7b19a20fd3/FoS_Donation_Sheet.pdf More about David's Farming Legacy: David had been no-tilling since 1971, back when they called it trash farming and a whole list of other things. But David would not be deterred, he continued to test systems, implemented cover crops and utilized livestock to improve soil health. Listen in to this great conversation as he and Monte talked about the history, the present, and the exciting future on their farm. David Brandt farmed 950-acres all no-till, in Fairfield County, which is located in central Ohio. He began no-till farming in 1971 and had been using cover crops since 1978. David participated in yield plots for corn, soybeans, and wheat into various covers. This information has been used by seed growers as well as county agents and universities to encourage other farmers to adapt no-till practices in their farming operations. He had also been planting various blends of cover crops to find out what benefits they provide to improve soil health. David was co-owner of Walnut Creek Seeds, LLC with his son and daughter-in-law Jay and Ann Brandt. David had articles published in Farm Journal, Ohio Farmer, Country Journal, and numerous no-till journals. He worked in cooperation with The Ohio State University, the University of Illinois, Penn State University, Purdue University, and Milan Research Farm in Tennessee. David was most recently working with OSU Randall Reeder and Dr. Islam on reducing input costs of fertilizers and herbicides using various cover crops which improve soil health. The results of this study have been published in the International Soil and Water Conservation Research journal. (March 2014, Vol. 2, No. 1) He was also working with the regional NRCS soils lab in Greensboro, North Carolina on the benefits of cover crops to improve soil health. www.walnutcreekseeds.com Got questions you want answered? Grave yard. Cemetery. These are some of my favorite things! But walking through graveyards isn't just about getting your goth on. Cemeteries tell our human history—and they tell national history, too. Take central park for instance. In 1857, it was Seneca Village, a “rare haven of Black ownership” stretching from West 82nd to 89th Streets. NY took it over, seizing it for a park. And that means part of the park is also a burial ground, and tells the story of how black people were treated even in the supposedly free north. And that's just one little tidbit from a book that is sure to be near and dear to our Peculiar family: Over my Dead Body by Greg Melville. The chapters take us on a journey, via cemeteries, around the country, from the mass graves at Colonial Jamestown to Brooklyn's Green-Wood cemetery, the racially segregated Laurel Grove Cemetery in Savannah, Ga., Hollywood Forever and even a digital graveyard, i.e., Facebook. Aptly put by the NYT, the book is a social history: “What does the act of memorializing, who is remembered and who is left out, tell us about how people lived, what they valued, and the way we live now?” Also… did I mention there are cemeteries? Join an engaging conversation between four safety professionals about accountability in complex systems. Learn how accountability acts as the bonding thread in any organization, defining the clarity and complexity of daily operations. Also, discover how effective accountability practices can redefine the culture of a workplace. Much attention is paid to the role of accountability in restorative and retrospective contexts. The panelists explore why leaders place staggering importance on accountability and how it influences their leadership practices. Aptly, the discussion attempts to reinterpret the concept of accountability, presenting it as a proactive process rather than a punitive tool. Probing the provocative question, 'if not traditional accountability, then what?' is another highlight of the episode. The episode also explores the transformative roles of empathy and accountability in modern work environments. We delve into the three core tenets of empathy - curiosity, vulnerability, and compassion - and explore how these attributes contribute to creating safer, more cohesive workplaces. Moreover, the discussion debunks the common misconception that empathy equates agreement; more often, true empathy leads to healthier debates and better ideas. The shift towards remote work, generational changes, and the emphasis on diversity are reshaping leadership, underlining the need for systemic changes in leadership training. By honing the emphasis on providing leaders with the right answers so that they can ask the right questions, an atmosphere of growth and learning can be cultivated. Listen in to this compelling episode for invaluable insights into empathy's role in leadership and workplace dynamics.

In this part of the saga, our attention is drawn tightly to the intimate plight of our hero and the curate, isolated in a world smothered by the ominous Black Smoke, plagued by the anxiety for loved ones, and straining against the claustrophobia of their refuge. The events that unfold under the suffocating pall of uncertainty reflect not only the overarching themes of interplanetary conflict and existential dread but also speak volumes of Wells' social commentary on the fragility of human society, the rapidly evolving technological landscape of his times, and the provocative idea that mankind might not be the apex of life's hierarchy after all.

One of the UK's most popular vocalists and broadcasters, Aled Jones MBE, today announces the release of his brand-new album which not only celebrates 40 years in show business but reveals some previously unreleased tracks, recently unearthed by Aled himself. Whilst visiting his family home in Anglesey earlier this year, Aled began reminiscing over the 40 years of memorabilia his parents have collected throughout his career. They literally had everything, even a collection of multi-coloured shirts and bow ties. Aled's mother explained they had been handmade for him by a BBC employee for a series he made in 1983, at the age of 13. This prompted Aled to go and find the original programme. He began to go through the footage and discovered recordings, which have never been released or even heard since the original broadcast 40 years ago. The album includes brand new arrangements of those classics including Ave Maria and Bright Eyes.Aptly titled, ‘One Voice – Full Circle', the new record is the fourth (and probably final, says Aled!) instalment in his utterly unique ‘One Voice' series in which, through the magic of technology, Aled is able to duet with his younger self: man and boy, baritone and treble. Here, album highlights include ‘Sailing', The Sutherland Brothers' 1972 track best known as a hit for Rod Stewart, Handel's ‘Where'er you Walk', from the musical drama Semele, Welsh love song ‘Bugeilo'r Gwenith Gwyn' and traditional ballad ‘Scarborough Fair'. Aled even tracked down the original 80's guitarist, Dylan Fowler, to re-record his part for this new recording. TRACKLIST:1. Bright Eyes 2. Sea Fever 3. Scarborough Fair 4. Where ‘ere You Walk 5. In this podcast, Chris Drake, Senior Vice President at iconectiv, tells us how his company is helping regulators address the problem and enable ways for consumers to receive trusted calls and texts. “The big issue here is that consent farms are luring people to their websites with fake promises,” says Drake. “They send text messages saying you've won a sweepstakes, or you look like the ideal candidate for this job, but these are likely all scams. Even if the lure is not a scam, the consumer has now made it onto many more consent lists than they intended.” iconecitv is a trusted partner of the communications ecosystem, dedicated to keeping people connected, businesses running and commerce flowing. Aptly described as 'Little House on the Prairie - but for adults' the novel follows a group of Scottish families who pioneer the Iowa prairie in the 1860’s. The main storyline concerns Wully, the eldest McLaughlin son, who returns home from the Civil War to find that his sweetheart, Chirstie, has experienced an unspeakable tragedy that will profoundly affect the couple's lives. Their story is one of shame and honor, secrets and guilt, fear and loathing, revenge and forgiveness. But perhaps the stars of the novel are the strong older women such as Wully’s mother, Isobel, whose love and matriarchal strength keeps the family together as well as Chirstie’s stepmother, Barbara, who finds ways to make her good-for-nothing husband keep his promises. Interlaced with the plots are richly detailed descriptions of frontier prairie life, the love that families share, and the relationships within the Scottish immigrant community. I'm offering five biblical principles which can help you when you're dealing with difficult people, particularly on your job. Our fifth and final principle is: The “Speak Kind Words” Principle Here are two verses from Proverbs that tell us how important it is to guard our words carefully and speak words of kindness. Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up (Proverbs 12:25). A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.(Proverbs 25:11). "Aptly spoken words” are those which are strategically selected and gently delivered. They are "apt," they fit the situation perfectly. With "apt" words, you can change an ugly environment or situation into something beautiful—like "apples of gold in settings of silver." For example, suppose you had to confront a person on your job who is repeatedly late to work. Which of these two approaches would be “aptly spoken words”? #1 “I want to point out something that is bothering me. You've been late to work a lot and it just drives me crazy. I want every person here on time every day. You're paid to be here on time, so I'll be expecting you to be on time every day from now on. I hope that is clear.” #2 “I've noticed that you have some difficulty getting to work on time. Perhaps there is some good reason for that; if so, you need to tell me so we can work it out by cutting your lunch time or having you work later each day. Is there some reason that makes it difficult for you to be here on time each day?” It's pretty obvious that the first example would cause a defensive, angry reaction and may or may not solve the problem, while the second approach shows some concern for the individual while at the same time making it clear that tardiness cannot be tolerated. Those are “aptly spoken words.” So often our choice of words makes all the difference in how responsive the other person will be.

This episode, we find ourselves reading and discussing the second anthology. This one is entitled Worlds of Honor. It was published in 1999 and contains five stories. Aptly named, these stories are as much tied to Honor's worlds, as to the characters we read about. Through the pens of several authors, we travel to Sphynx, Manticore, Gryphon, and Sylvestria.First comes the story The Stray, written by Linda Evans. Linda brings us to Sphynx for the second bonding between a human and treecat: that between Dr. Scott MacDallan and Fisher, just 15 months after Stephanie Harrington is adopted by her treecat. The story focuses on a stray treecat named True Stalker who, near death, finds Scott and Fisher. He leads them to the crash site of an aircar, located near a facility owned by BioNeering. There are essentially two storylines here. First, we gain additional insights into what humans and treecats experience as a bonded pair. We also glimpse into the treecats' moral code as Scott and Fisher learn through True Stalker that the aircar crash wasn't an accident. It was a murder to cover up what's occurring in the related storyline. In the second storyline, related to this case something has gone wrong at the BioNeering research site with the devastating result of killing off a significant section of Picket Wood trees. As we already know, this species of tree is a clonal organism (much like the Aspen tree on Earth). It is also a primary environment for treecat colonies. The murder of the aircar crew was an attempt to hide the significant damage that had been done to the forest. What wasn't known or anticipated by BioNeering: one of the crew aboard the shuttle was paired to the treecat True Stalker — the same cat that found and brought Scott and Fisher to the crash site. Ultimately, the crime is revealed. As a side note, we learn of Manpower Unlimited., a company which provides cloned and bio-engineered human slaves to corporate colonies looking for labor they wouldn't have to pay to work in dangerous environments. This is a company that will play a large role in future stories. All three of us gave this story a “thumbs-up”, with Raul sneaking a second “thumbs-up” in for good measure. The second story was written by David Weber: What Price Dreams? We are introduced to Princess Adrienne and her father King Roger II. We see an estranged relationship which was the result of the assassination of Adrienne's mother, Queen Solange. The damaged relationship between Roger and Adrienne is further fueled by the Princess' fascination with treecats. When she makes a trip to Sphynx two important things happen: she's adopted by the treecat Seeker of Dreams; and next, she's target of an attempted assassination. The attempt is ultimately foiled by Seeker of Dreams and his clan. Of note, these events occur not long after the first adoptions of Stephanie Harrington and Scott MacDallan. As a result, not much is known about treecats, adoptions are still very few, and as a result, opinions run strong. With Adrienne's salvation coming through the hands of treecats, King Roger has a change of heart regarding treecats in general, and the rights of these sentient creatures. One nugget of information we gain from this story is of a technique called a “psych adjustment,” with all its unresolved moral baggage. We get just enough information about it to see what happens when psych adjustments are used for malicious purposes where an adjusted individual is effectively programmed and used to attempt the assassination of Adrienne. Another nugget is more background on Manpower and Mesa and especially their attempts to get hold of treecats for “research” purposes.Your hosts all rated this one with a “thumbs-up” as well.Queen's Gambit was the third story in the anthology. It was penned by the expert hand of Jane Lindskold. Here we move...
