The UK outfit Sleep Token has done what we once thought impossible: Found commercial success playing heavy metal music in 2025 AD. Their fourth studio album, Even in Arcadia, went to number one on the Billboard 200 upon its release, with all ten of its tracks charting on the Hot 100—this despite the fact that the band has been entirely masked and anonymous through their nine year existence. Sleep Token's willingness to inject their brand of heavy metal with autotuned pop vocals, reggaeton beats, and hop hop inflected rhythms has widened their audience, but in the process had galvanized scathing criticism. Pitchfork gave the album a withering review calling Even in Arcadia "schmaltzy and dull," while Anthony Fantano dubbed the band "metal music for Disney adults." We get to know Sleep Token—the music and the controversy—by listening deeply to the ways they toy with the genre conventions of metal, and ask whether they are changing the sound of pop in the process. Podcast: Bites & Bytes PodcastEpisode: AI and Cyber Resilience in the Food Industry with Stuart KingPub date: 2024-04-25In this captivating podcast episode, host Kristin and her guest and fiancée, Stuart King, explore their rich experiences in cybersecurity, specifically focusing on the food industry. They discuss the transformative impact of AI and machine learning on security practices within this sector. The episode begins with personal stories that connect their professional paths to memorable food experiences, illustrating how these moments deeply intertwine with their work. Stuart recounts his extensive career, starting with his initial experiences in the Royal Air Force and moving into significant roles in cybersecurity, particularly emphasizing his contributions to safeguarding food production systems. The conversation then shifts to their joint venture, “AnzenOT,” a tool they co-developed to simplify and democratize risk assessments for small to mid-size enterprises in the food industry. They discuss how AI enhances this process through improved analytics to give context to risk, which is essential for food manufacturers aiming to fortify their defenses against cyber threats. The duo highlights the crucial need to understand the human side of cybersecurity in food manufacturing, advocating for solutions that address the daily challenges employees face on production floors. They discuss how AnzenOT uses AI to simulate realistic threat scenarios and offer practical, actionable insights, helping companies navigate the complex landscape of food safety and cybersecurity. Throughout the episode, Kristin's cat, Kai, also makes a charming presence, adding a touch of warmth as she quietly joins in, much to the amusement of both hosts. As the episode wraps up, Kristin and Stuart invite listeners to join them at upcoming industry conferences, including RSA, where they will discuss cybersecurity and operational technology in the food industry. They encourage a broader dialogue about enhancing security measures to protect the vital processes that feed nations and maintain public health. ___________________________________________ Episode Key Highlights: (02:52 - 03:53) Unforgettable Food Adventures in Japan (06:13 - 08:23) Career Evolution and Shared Experiences (13:44 - 15:56) Critical Infrastructure Vulnerabilities in Production (17:56 - 20:09) Importance of Understanding Environment in Cybersecurity (24:04 - 26:00) Risk Management and AI in Industry (29:27 - 31:18) AnzenOT Tool Benefits and Features (34:08 - 35:40) Value for Money and Risk Assessment (37:45 - 38:41) Network Security Vulnerabilities From Unknown Applications ___________________________________________ How to connect with Stuart King: LinkedIn and Email Our talk on the S4 Main Stage, “Factories Are Families: How Does Security Join The Family?” Panel at IC3 Games 2023 on protecting critical infrastructure. ___________________________________________ If you want to learn more about AnzenOT, please check the website or reach out on LinkedIn. Welcome to Pocket-Sized Podcasting, brought to you by Alitu: The Podcast Maker. And on this episode, we’re talking about tools for running a listener survey. Survey software can actually be quite expensive. As we’re only looking to run something like this at most every six months, it doesn’t make much sense to spend a fortune on it. So if you’re looking to run a survey for free, then Google Forms is the best option I’ve come across. Yes, it looks a bit basic, but it more than does the trick. SurveyMonkey is a famous survey tool, whilst Typeform is really sophisticated. But, for the majority of podcasters, they’ll just be a bit too pricey for what we need. Be wary of WordPress plugin survey tools, too. They might be free to set up, but can sneakily end up holding your data hostage for a subscription fee. Once you’ve set your survey up, remember to use a tool like PrettyLinks to create an easy link for it, too. That’s what we’ve done for our own survey, which you can find at [thepodcasthost.com/psp](http://thepodcasthost.com/psp)

Earlier this year, I sent out a short survey for my audience to fill out. This survey gave me some very insightful data about who they are, what they do and what they need help with. This is something I aim to do at least once a year, but it should really be more if possible. Regardless, I'll be sharing some insights so that you know what type of information might be helpful for you to collect, along with a rapid fire Q&A to answer some questions received in the survey. Isiah Xavier Bradley was born to be an artist, and you can really feel his love for the craft just from spending a few minutes chatting with him. The Seattle-based illustrator loves all things comics related, and his body of work is filled with superheroes, aliens, mages, and all kinds of other fantasy figures. We talked about some of his creative projects, and we spoke for a bit about diversity in the fantasy illustration space, as well as how he approaches storytelling through his art. Isiah also shared his story of growing up in Philly, getting inspired by his father (a painter!), and finding creative community both online and offline. Isiah is looking to achieve great things and grow as a professional illustrator, and with his enthusiasm and talent, he's well on his way of making that happen!LinksIsiah Xavier Bradley's WebsiteIsiah Xavier Bradley on FacebookIsiah Xavier Bradley on InstagramIsiah Xavier Bradley on TikTokIsiah Xavier Bradley on TwitterFor a full transcript of this interview, visit revisionpath.com.==========Take our 2023 Audience Survey! It's that time of year again! I first learned about Tasheka Arceneaux-Sutton way back in 2015 when I interviewed Silas Munro. Since then, Tasheka has gone on to become one of the leading voices behind discovering Black people omitted from the graphic design history canon. Even design legend Dr. Cheryl D. Miller has sung her praises, so I knew I had to sit down with Tasheka and learn more about her remarkable journey.Tasheka spoke to me about her experience as an educator and researcher, including an examination of her teaching philosophy. She also talked about growing up in New Orleans, her shift into design, working for the Navy Reservists, and even starting her own studio, Blacvoice Design. Lastly, she discussed her upcoming book Black Design in America, and shared how the different aspects of her work keep her motivated and inspired. If there's any lesson you learn from Tasheka, it should be this one: you have control over your own path as a designer, so work hard and you can make your dreams come true!LinksBlacvoice DesignTasheka Arceneaux-Sutton on FacebookTasheka Arceneaux-Sutton on InstagramTasheka Arceneaux-Sutton on LinkedInFor a full transcript of this interview, visit revisionpath.com.==========Take our 2023 Audience Survey! It's that time of year again! I had to connect with Morgan Bissant after seeing a few of her images of 90s sitcoms make the rounds on Twitter. Her work definitely captures to the richness of the Black experience, and she's done everything from editorial work for Comcast to children's illustrations and book covers. But that's not all!Morgan and I talked about some of her big freelance projects, and she spoke on how Black pop culture, especially animation, is a big source of inspiration and her creative process. We also discussed how she stays up on trends in the industry, how she handles burnout, and she gave us a look into her current art journey and creative process. Morgan's experiences and raw talent are a unique combination, and I think we'll definitely see more of her amazing work in the future!Morgan Bissant's WebsiteMorgan Bissant on FacebookMorgan Bissant on InstagramMorgan Bissant on LinkedInMorgan Bissant on TikTokMorgan Bissant on TwitterBooks Illustrated by Morgan BissantFor a full transcript of this interview, visit revisionpath.com.==========Take our 2023 Audience Survey! It's that time of year again! It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice to make it on your own as an artist, and Akeem Roberts knows this well. Even though Akeem's been in the game for nearly a decade, I have a feeling that we'll be seeing his work for many years to come.We talked about Akeem's new gig at Holler, and from there he went into sharing his unique approach to storytelling. Akeem also spoke about attending the University of South Carolina, went into some of his influences for his artistic style, and gave some great advice for handling operational tasks as a freelancer. What does it take to be an art director? For Victor Ware, it's a combination of three things: talent, hard work, and maybe…never sleeping. Victor has over a decade of experience and has done everything from working on legacy media brands to doing full-scale brand overhauls. Our conversation began with a look at Victor's current gig at Wide Eye, and he talked a bit about how future tech like AI and machine learning play into the work he does. He also talked about growing up in the DMV area, cutting his teeth in the design world at AOL and Vox Media, and balancing 9-to-5 work with starting his own design studio. Very few people do their jobs entirely on their own. For most of us, doing our job well means being part of a well-functioning team. Eduardo Salas, PhD, of Rice University, talks about the key ingredients of highly effective teams, the difference between team training and team building, what to consider when working on a remote team, the role of team leaders, and how industries such as aviation and medicine – where breakdowns in teamwork can have dire consequences – have evolved in their approach to teamwork. While ageism may be one of the last socially acceptable biases, research shows that aging often comes with positive changes. And by believing in and propagating negative myths about aging, we can do ourselves real harm. Dr. Manfred Diehl, a lifespan developmental psychologist at Colorado State University, dispels the myth that growing older involves primarily loss and decline and explains how much control we have over how well we age. About one in 36 children in the U.S. has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Geraldine Dawson, PhD, of Duke University, discusses why the number of diagnoses has risen so steeply in recent years, why it's more common in boys than girls, and how research using artificial intelligence and brain biomarkers is making it possible to detect autism risk at younger ages than before – even in infancy.
