Since Gav believes that all social ills can be remedied through education, his modus operandi is pretty simple: give education the standard of technology it deserves.

In this episode of the CEO Insider Podcast, Ed Curtis speaks with Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar. Hegar talks about how Texas is expanding rapidly in the business market, how Texas is the #1 state for job creation in the nation, and much more! Topics covered include: Texas leads the nation in job growth in 2023. His travels across the state confirm that growth is occurring in all 12 economic regions in Texas. He and Ed discussed the financial services sector being a major growth sector (and top contributor to Texas GDP). Hegar shared that 20% of all value exported out of the US comes out of Texas, and that the economy is between 9-10% of US GDP. Texas is now the 8th largest economy in the world, with France next in line to surpass for 7th place. The energy sector is growing based on increased demand from consumers and businesses. His statewide conversations have made him appreciate the complexity of the energy generation to consumers - and the demand gap that occurs in the late afternoon. He stressed his focus on keeping energy costs low, which will continue to attract investment into the state. His broadband plan is continuing to roll out, as over 3million households and businesses do not have access or reliable access to internet connectivity. His team has been executing well on a statewide listening tour, and is working closely with internet service providers to provide reliable service through a competitive marketplace. The new economic development incentive program that replaced Chapter 313 is underway and is accepting applications. They received their first application and expect it to be a successful tool to continue to attract business into the state. Last, the state has a $17B budget surplus. The state's rainy day fund is at $19B and is expected to be up to $24B shortly. YTexas is an elite Texas business network for companies relocating, expanding and growing in the Lone Star State. Summary-We continue on a yearlong journey through the story of the Bible, from creation to Christ to consummation, with the book of Judges. We pick up where Joshua left off with the aftermath of the conquest. What starts out with some more success turns to disaster with a generation that did not know the Lord. Reading 1 IS 63:16B-17, 19B; 64:2-7 You, LORD, are our father, our redeemer you are named forever. Why do you let us wander, O LORD, from your ways, and harden our hearts so that we fear you not?Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your heritage.Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, with the mountains quaking before you, while you wrought awesome deeds we could not hope for, such as they had not heard of from of old.No ear has ever heard, no eye ever seen, any God but youdoing such deeds for those who wait for him.Would that you might meet us doing right, that we were mindful of you in our ways!Behold, you are angry, and we are sinful;all of us have become like unclean people, all our good deeds are like polluted rags;we have all withered like leaves, and our guilt carries us away like the wind. There is none who calls upon your name, who rouses himself to cling to you;for you have hidden your face from usand have delivered us up to our guilt.Yet, O LORD, you are our father;we are the clay and you the potter:we are all the work of your hands.Reading 2 1 COR 1:3-9 Brothers and sisters: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I give thanks to my God always on your account for the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus, that in him you were enriched in every way, with all discourse and all knowledge, as the testimony to Christ was confirmed among you, so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will keep you firm to the end, irreproachable on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, and by him you were called to fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.Gospel MK 13:33-37 Jesus said to his disciples: “Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come. It is like a man traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his own work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch. Watch, therefore; you do not know when the lord of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning. May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to all: ‘Watch!'”

Readings for the First Sunday in Advent - Isaiah 63:16B-17, 19B; 64:2-7 Mark 13:33-37Welcome to our new liturgical year! And every year, it can be easy to fall into the idea of Advent being merely birthday planning. We know a birth is coming up on the 25th and we have some preparations to do in order to celebrate that past event well. But I urge us all (yes, including myself!) to approach Advent differently this year. Advent isn't just about what happened then. It's looking around and asking for God's birth into our own specific and universal worlds now. It's seeing the need and asking God to rend the heavens and be born again. And it's recognizing God's presence when indeed God is born.Special thanks to Bridget Zenk for her composition and performing of our intake and outtake music. This month's countertop chat with host Justin Baker will feature special guest, MWI Animal Health's Pet Whisperer Alison Hodgson, as they “paw-nder” a new non-PBM revenue generating revenue opportunity that is near and dear to all of us. Being a growing $3B retail and $19B pet OTC market, studies have shown that pet owners want to purchase pet products for their fur babies from someone they can trust, putting this “paw-some” “opp-purr-tunity” for independent pharmacies at the top of that list. This booming new market segment is positioned “purr-fectly” for independents, as these animal-y-tics shared that; 45% of Americans buy their pet a birthday gift 73% of Americans let their pets sit on the couch 95% consider their pet part of the family Alison points out that her research demonstrates that most families want to get their medications for ALL of their family members in one place (including their fur babies), and that high income households account for roughly 60% of the spending, because money is no object, with our four- legged friends. As you develop your stores personal brand, this niche will build loyalty like no other, will garner a profitable cash business, and “dif-fur-entiate” your store from the chains. From passing out dog treats in your drive through window, to “pet-working” with local veterinarians, Alison shares tips and tricks on how to gain visibility and market share. The growth “pet-ential is limitless”.
