Friends of the Rosary,Today, the Catholic Church honors Blessed Pius IX, who reigned as pope from 1846 to 1878.He defined the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary on December 8, 1854, and celebrated the First Vatican Council in 1869.He was a saint who knew how to admirably unite the active and the contemplative life. He was ready for pastoral needs, but always interiorly recollected, with strong Eucharistic and Marian devotion and fidelity to daily meditation and the examination of conscience.Blessed Pius IX was recognized as assiduous in prayer, in the ministry of the Word, in the celebration of the liturgy, in the confessional, and above all in his daily ministry at the service of the humblest and neediest.February 7-14 marks National Marriage Week.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Saint Paul Miki and Companions. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the first to give witness, thousands of Christians in Japan suffered martyrdom. On February 5, 1597, Japanese Jesuit Paul Miki and his companions, including sixteen Japanese laymen, four of whom were boys, gave their lives for Christ. The Shogun Hideyoshi feared that these missionaries represented the vanguard of an impending European conquest. He decided to sacrifice them.He had the ears of the missionaries cut and ordered them to march four hundred miles from Miyako to Nagasaki, with blood streaming down their faces as a sign of their disgrace. In Nagasaki, each was bound to a cross and killed with a lance. The Japanese martyrs were canonized in 1862.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,The month of February is dedicated to the Holy Family. This devotion proposes the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as the model of Christian family life, emphasizing love, obedience, unity, and faith. In the words of His Holiness Pope Leo XIII, "Nothing truly can be more salutary or efficacious for Christian families to meditate upon than the example of this Holy Family, which embraces the perfection and completeness of all domestic virtues."The Holy Family models for us what family life should exemplify. It is a school of virtue for both parents and children. There we find God, and learn how to connect with God and with others. The family is where love is freely given without self-interest. It is where we learn to love, to pray, and to practice the gift of charity.Pope John Paul II has said, “The family, more than any other human reality, is the place in which the person is loved for himself and in which he learns to live the sincere gift of self” (Nov. 27, 2002).Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,Today, February 3rd, the Universal Church offers two saints, Blaise and Ansgar, for separate celebration as an Optional Memorial. To St. Blaise (or Blaise) (d. 320), many cures are attributed. From the eighth century, he has been invoked on behalf of the sick, especially those afflicted with illnesses of the throat. St. Blaise was a physician and Bishop of Sebaste, Armenia, and was martyred under Licinius. St. Blaise is included in the list of Fourteen Holy Helpers. On this day, the Church celebrates a "Blessing of the Throats" in honor of St. Blaise. St. Ansgar (801-865) became known as the "Apostle of the North" for his great evangelical work in Denmark and Sweden. He was Bishop of Hamburg, Germany, and then of Bremen, Germany. Known for his great preaching, working miracles, and being greatly devoted to the poor and sick.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,Today, February 2, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. This celebration, which takes place forty days after the birth of Jesus, is also known as Candlemas Day, since the blessing and procession of candles are included in the Mass.Christ is the light of the nations, hence the blessing and procession of candles on this day.Jesus' presentation signifies God's entrance to His temple. Soon after the Baptists' birth, God made man enter His temple, presenting Himself to those who were truly seeking Him.Attached to “Candlemas Day”, we also celebrate the World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life, founded by Pope St. John Paul II in 1997. That's because the consecrated men and women are to be the light in the world, imitating Jesus, the Light of the World. On this day, the Church expresses its gratitude to all in the community who dedicate themselves in a special way to prayer, and to those with a particular religious vocation to the contemplative life.In the figures of Simeon and Anna, Jesus' presentation in the temple reminds us that prayer and contemplation are well-spent time. Only those who pray and offer penance, like Simeon and Anna, are open to the breath of the Spirit. This feast of the Presentation has a strong Marian dimension:On one hand, Simeon's prophecy emphasizes Mary's sufferings. Pope John Paul II taught that, “Simeon's words seem like a second Annunciation to Mary.”In the previous Liturgical Calendar, it was called the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary. indicating the renewal of her total offering to God for the accomplishment of His Divine Plan.On February 2nd, a secular tradition unfolds: Groundhog Day, well known to schoolchildren and adults alike. The fate of Spring hangs in the balance as a burrowing animal looks for its shadow.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,From the Gospel of St. Matthew 5:1-12a, in this Fourth Sunday in ordinary time, we receive the Beatitudes from the Lord. And He said,"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."The significance of the "poor in spirit" is revealed in the Beatitudes. This expression points to those whose hearts and consciences are intimately directed to Our Lord and who are tried by moments of suffering and difficulty. They don't confide mainly in themselves but in God.The poor in the Bible are the humbled, just, and meek, those who bear a burden on their shoulders, but are given God's favor. They are called blessed and happy because God's merciful and compassionate gaze rests on them. The poor detach themselves from the possession of persons and things, and above all, of themselves. The poor don't find security in the gods of this world, like success, power, or pride, but in the Lord God in Heaven.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! His father died when John was only two years old, and it was his mother, Margaret, who provided him with a good humanistic and Christian education.St. John Bosco, Don Bosco, was an enlightened educator, innovator, and leader. He had no formal system or theory of education; rather, he formulated one based on "reason, religion, and kindness." His methods centered on persuasion, authentic religiosity, and love for young people.Despite receiving criticism and violent attacks from the anti-clericals, he conducted workshops for the tradesmen and manual laborers, schools of arts and sciences for young workers, and schools of the liberal arts for those preparing for the priesthood. In 1868, there were 800 students involved in this educational system. This great apostle of youth died on January 31, 1888. Many referred to him as "the new St. Vincent de Paul." He was canonized by Pope Pius XI in 1934. Friends of the Rosary,Only in Christ and through Christ is order and peace restored.St. Thomas — whose feast day we celebrated yesterday — said, "It is from the union of the different appetites in man tending towards the same object that peace results."In the Garden of Eden, with man's virgin nature, there was a harmony that was the divine radiation of original justice. The order was perfect in Adam, and all was perfectly harmonized. But sin came into the world, and all this admirable order was overthrown. Man's different appetites started to function against each other. The flesh conspired against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh. And until the order is re-established, peace cannot be in the heart, and we will be separated from Him by an abyss."O Lord, and our hearts are ever restless until they rest in Thee."By having taken our sin upon Himself, Jesus restored to us God's friendship.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,Today's Gospel (St. Matthew 4:12-23) presents Christ Jesus as the Light, fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy by dispelling the darkness of sin and freeing man from the obscurity in which he is enclosed. The light expresses God's involvement in human history as He manifests Himself as ‘The Light' that disperses the darkness. In God's light, everything assumes a new significance, bringing abundant joy and great rejoicing. The light is God's initiative, taking action towards a wounded humanity and performing His merciful love. This dynamic is expressed through Christ Jesus' call of the first Apostles. He invited them to abandon the nets in a sudden interruption in their lives and trust themselves totally to the Lord for a new ‘catch', a new definitive horizon. He chooses them with an unequivocal call, ‘Follow Me'.His call is a turning point in our lives. At the Last Supper, the end of His earthly life, Jesus reminds His disciples, "you did not choose me, no, I chose you." (Jn 15:16).We ask the Lord for the gift of a true conversion of our hearts, enabling us to receive Christ as the only Light to follow.Christ is the only one who dispels the darkness within and around us.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! She was a young virgin martyred under the Roman emperor Diocletian around the year 304.Devotion to her is of ancient standing, and two churches in Rome commemorate her witness. Agnes is invoked in the canon of the Mass, in the Eucharistic Prayer I.The name of "Agnes" means "lamb-life." The lamb is the symbol of the innocence of the virgin-martyr.Agnes, a girl of twelve, freely died for Christ. When she was commanded to offer incense to false Gods, she raised her hand and made the Sign of the Cross. And when the son of the Roman prefect offered to marry her, she replied:"The one to whom I am betrothed is Christ Whom the angels serve. For Him alone I keep my troth, to Him I surrender with all my heart."Today, we also celebrate the feast of Our Lady of High Grace, in Spanish la Virgen Maria de la Altagracia. The image of Our Lady of Altagracia was crowned twice: in 1922 by Pope Pius XI, and in 1979 by Pope John Paul II, who, during his visit to Santo Domingo, personally crowned the image with a golden silver tiara, his personal gift to the Virgin, the first evangelizer of the Americas.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,Today, we celebrate the Memorial of St. Anthony, Abbot (251-356), the Father of the Monks, who retired to the desert at about the age of eighteen in order to live in perfect solitude and prayer. This 3rd-century saint exercised a profound influence upon succeeding generations.Born in Middle Egypt (about 250) to wealthy parents, he sold his possessions and gave his inheritance to the poor after hearing this passage in mass that we read today in Matthew 19:16-26.Jesus said,"If you wish to be perfect, go,sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."The saint suffered repeatedly from diabolical attacks, but these made him more steadfast in virtue. He said to his disciples, "Believe me; the devil fears the vigils of pious souls, and their fastings, their voluntary poverty, their loving compassion, their humility, but most of all their ardent love of Christ our Lord.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,In the Old Testament, the Jewish people were asking, "Why has the Lord permitted us to be defeated?"In the New Testament, in yesterday's reading (Mark 1:40-45), the leper asked himself the same question. But he recognized the authority of the Lord when he begged:“If you wish, you can make me clean."Moved with pity, Jesus said to him,“I do will it. Be made clean.”The leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean. But if he had not been “defeated” by this disease, he never would have attracted the attention and the pity of Jesus. Our struggle disposes us to receive God's mercy!Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,Saints are like anyone else, despite how we consider them as spiritual heroes preserved from our day-to-day activities. They struggled with the same things we do, and loved the same things we do. They are not simply models to be admired. There are saints in ordinary life, in art and poetry, in motherhood, psychology, and even politics. There is a huge diversity. Each one uniquely reflects some aspect of the divine reality. The only difference is that they were smart enough to understand that what finally matters is having a holy life by being the person that God wants us to be.Above all, the saints are friends of God.And we can find a saint who is like every one of us.Léon Bloy wrote, "There is only one sadness, and that is not to be saints."Let's keep in mind that only people in heaven will be saints.Bishop Barron wrote about the diversity of saints:"There is Thomas Aquinas, the towering intellectual, and there is the Curé d'Ars, who barely made it through the seminary. There is Vincent de Paul, a saint in the city, and there is Antony, who found sanctity in the harshness and loneliness of the desert. There is Bernard, kneeling on the hard stones of Clairvaux in penance for sins, and there is Hildegard of Bingen, singing and throwing flowers, madly in love with God. There is Peter, the hard-nosed and no-nonsense fisherman, and there is Edith Stein, secretary to Edmund Husserl and colleague to Martin Heidegger, one of the most famous philosophers of the twentieth century. There is Joan of Arc leading armies, and there is Francis of Assisi channeling peace. There is the irascible Jerome and the almost too sweet Thérèse of Lisieux. There is Catherine of Siena, who stood up to popes, and Celestine V, who only reluctantly became pope. There is the grave and serious Bruno, and there is Philip Neri, whose spirituality was based on laughter."Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,In today's reading (Mark 1:29-39), we see how people from Galilee brought to Jesus those who were ill or possessed by demons. His physical healing points to his spiritual healing. The Scripture says, "He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him."During His public ministry, Christ the Lord drove out many unclean spirits. Today, through the presence of the Catholic Church and the grace of the sacraments, He continues cleansing our souls. As temples of the Holy Spirit, we must do our best to expel from our hearts any dysfunctionality that separates us from the Lord. The goal is to be Christified with the truth of divine power. As Bishop Barron says, "Much of Jesus's ministry consisted of teaching people how to see (the kingdom of God), how to hear (the voice of the Spirit), how to walk (overcoming the paralysis of the heart), and how to be free of themselves so as to discover God."Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! From learning names and building shared language, to rhythm training with the metronome, fitness testing, brain typing, and character development, the episode reinforces GreatBase as a system of systems. Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series! On this edition we welcome LUXUS (@luxnewman) Magician On Duty proudly unveils a new chapter in its acclaimed Journey Series, this time guided by the enigmatic sound explorer known as LUXUS — an artist whose world blends shadow, structure, and shimmering inner light. LUXUS approaches music the way a sculptor approaches form: with precision, intention, and an ever-evolving identity. His artistic vision is shaped by duality — a faceted exterior of discipline and design, and a glowing creative core that's beginning to radiate outward with renewed strength. In his hands, sound becomes a mirror of transformation: fragmented yet refined, restrained yet bursting with potential, always hinting at a deeper essence beneath the surface. This episode reflects that vision with remarkable clarity. Moving through noir-infused electronica, hypnotic slow-burn grooves, and propulsive late-night energy, LUXUS curates a journey that feels like watching a new self assemble in real time. The mix opens in an atmospheric haze with Pye Corner Audio's “Ganzfeld Effect,” a dimensional shimmer that sets the tone for perception to shift. From there, illusion and identity weave together through pieces like Markus Gibb & San Carol's “Illusion” and Marco Darko's “One Night Stand,” each track adding another facet to the mask — sharp, reflective, and meticulously crafted. As the journey deepens, the golden light at Luxus' center begins to break through. Pavel Petrov's “Faith,” Lefty D's “Strange Days,” and Everyone But None's “3 AM” move with the pulse of inner awakening — subtle, glowing, and alive. Floral motifs of growth and renewal appear in selections like Andino's “Swirlz” and Moe Turk's “Deep Is Dope (Deep Lo Remix),” echoing the sense of something blooming just beneath the surface. Midway, the mix steps into its transformative phase. Tracks such as Terranova & Alican's “Cosmocode,” Jonathan Kaspar's “Muster,” and Audio Junkies' “Aspects of Rhythm” reveal a more assertive stride — a consolidation of ideas, a tightening of vision, a coalescing identity. The energy becomes bolder, more magnetic, yet still wrapped in the elegance of a luxurious exterior. The episode concludes with a powerful ascent. Edgier cuts like Sexual Purity's “Convulsion” and Ghost Cop's “A Shot in the Dark (Houses of Heaven Remix)” break apart the last remnants of confinement, making space for the final act: a moment of cinematic release with 2WEI & Ali Christenhusz's “Ave Maria,” a closing that feels both sacred and cathartic — the unveiling of the inner light at last. Through this carefully woven narrative, Luxus presents more than a DJ mix. He offers a portrait of metamorphosis — a soundscape where structure meets spirit, elegance meets emotion, and identity reveals itself piece by piece. This Journey Series episode marks a moment of breakthrough for an artist stepping into a new era of self-expression, aesthetic clarity, and conceptual strength. Step inside the mask. Friends of the Rosary,Amazingly, today, December 2, Tuesday of the second week of Advent, we are given a share in the inner life of God when we hear the intimate conversation between the Father and the very Son, the first two Trinitarian persons.Christ Jesus says,"I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned, you have revealed them to the childlike."These hidden things point to the mystery of Jesus's relationship to his Father, the love that obtains between Father and Son, that God wanted to give us from the beginning. As Bishop Barron comments, "this passage invites us into very deep mysteries. Jesus addresses his Father and thereby reveals his own deepest identity within the Holy Trinity."Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,This Advent, a season of spiritual waiting, we put on the armor of light to "seek only to do God's work and abandon the deeds of the flesh (cf. Rm 13:12-14)."It's the Christian lifestyle, not distracted and indifferent, but vigilant and recognizing even the smallest sign of the Lord's second coming, as we don't know the hour in which He will arrive (cf. Mt 24:39-44).More to it, yesterday in the Gospel (Matthew 24:37-44), Jesus invited us to recognize the signs of the last days.It means that Advent is not just looking back at the first coming of Christ at Christmas, but our personal preparation for His Second Coming: "Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come....you also must be prepared, for an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come."Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,Today, November 30, the Catholic Church begins a new Liturgical Year with the First Sunday of Advent. It's the beginning of a new period of prayer and penance, and a renewed commitment to the true faith. The entire Liturgy of the Advent season spurs us to an awakening in our Christian life and puts us in a ‘vigilant' disposition, waiting for Our Lord Jesus, who is coming. The Season of Advent is therefore a season of spiritual waiting that prepares us to welcome the mystery of the Word Incarnate. The true light enters the world through the immaculate womb of Mary. This light flows out into our dark, obscure, sinful lives to illuminate them, so that we can become the light that illuminates the world. As Saint John Henry Newman said, "Advent is a time of waiting, it is a time of joy because the coming of Christ is not only a gift of grace and salvation, but it is also a time of commitment because it motivates us to live the present as a time of responsibility and vigilance."Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,Today, November 27, is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. In 1621, colonists in New England gave thanks to God for his abundant mercies and blessings. This became a tradition, and in 1863, Thanksgiving Day was proclaimed a legal holiday. It's worth noting that some historians believe the first Thanksgiving in America was a Catholic Mass held 50 years before the Plymouth settlement. These pilgrims were preceded by Spanish settlers in what became Florida. And that first "Thanksgiving" was Eucharistic.Anyway, today the Catholic Church celebrates Mass, asking that each person's gratitude to God may bear fruit in loving service to neighbor.Today is also the day of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, recalling when the Blessed Mother appeared to St. Catherine Labouré in 1830 and revealed the images of the medal to her.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Friends of the Rosary,Today, Sunday, November 23, is the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. It's the feast of Christ, the King, radiant, majestic, and divine, when He establishes His Kingdom of light upon earth. It's also the feast of the glorified Savior, the Warrior, and Conqueror. In 1925, Pope Pius XI 1925 established this feast as an antidote to secularism, which organizes his life as if God did not exist, putting the Lord out of man's thinking and living. The solemnity day, formerly referred to as "Christ the King", is intended to proclaim Christ's royalty over individuals, families, society, governments, and nations.Today's Mass establishes, 1) Christ is God, the Creator of the universe and hence wields a supreme power over all things; "All things were created by Him"; 2) Christ is our Redeemer, He healed us by His precious Blood; 3) Christ is Head of the Church; 4) God bestowed upon Christ the nations of the world as His dominion. The liturgy also describes the qualities of Christ's kingdom. This kingdom is: 1) supreme, extending not only to all people but also to their princes and kings; 2) universal, extending to all nations and to all places; 3) eternal; 4) spiritual, Christ's "kingdom is not of this world."Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New!
