In that time, she has written more than 60 books, including 22 New York Times bestsellers. In his literary debut, Fire in the Hole!, this extraordinary entrepreneur recounts the exploits of his youth, his hellish days at the mercy of Catholic school nuns, his harrowing tour of combat duty in Vietnam as a US Marine, his pioneering contributions to the software and internet industries, and his latest ventures in power sports, golf, real estate, and marketing. Along the way, we witness his remarkable resilience as he copes with his mother’s mental illness and his father’s struggles, battles PTSD resulting from both his childhood and war traumas, and mounts a quest to find new and effective treatments for himself and others who suffer from this affliction. He strongly supports veterans organizations, and believing in the concept of paying it forward, has awarded grants to more than ninety-six charities and organizations worldwide through the Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation. Perhaps the only thing that has come easy to Parsons is his gift for storytelling. His reflections are at turns heartbreaking, heartwarming, hilarious, and inspiring. If ever there were a story about a self-made man whose wealth can be measured as much by the contents of his heart as by the contents of his bank account, this is it. After an invitation to do the PXG Xperience from Dr. Bob Parsons, the podcast is live from Scottsdale National this week to talk about U.S. Open drama. Bryson DeChambeau fought a leaky driver and used a incredible short game to pull off a gritty victory at Pinehurst No. 2 as Rory McIlroy had a gut wrenching collapse missing two short putts on the last 4 holes to lose the U.S. Open trophy in his attempt to break his 10 year drought of major championships. We are discussing what is the larger story, Bryson winning or Rory's collapse? The Bryson Dechambeau story is a fascinating one as he has seemingly made a complete 180 in his career when it comes to popularity as he has reinvented himself and his game and the cherry on top was this victory in what has been a remarkable major season for Bryson. Rory McIlroy, who faces maybe more pressure than any player in the world to win a major, suffered a major setback by missing a couple very short putts in route to losing by a stroke. Where will Rory's career go from here? Will he ever get major number five? We are here at the beautiful Scottsdale National and did a full PXG club fitting, we will talk a little about it this week(and much more next week) and give our thoughts so far on the trip. All that and some professional golf superlatives to have some fun to finish the podcast on this week's episode. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Bob Parsons, possibly best-known as the founder of GoDaddy, is widely recognized for his entrepreneurial and philanthropic efforts. Currently, Bob is the CEO and founder of YAM Worldwide, which is home to his entrepreneurial ventures in the fields of motorcycles, golf, real estate, finance, marketing, innovation and philanthropy. Bob Parsons is a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He attended college at the University of Baltimore on the G.I. Bill and graduated magna cum laude. His alma mater presented him with an honorary doctorate in 2008 and named him Distinguished Entrepreneur in 2010. In 1984 Parsons started his first business, Parsons Technology, in his basement after teaching himself how to write computer programs. When Parsons Technology was sold to Intuit in 1994 for $64 million, the company had nearly one thousand employees, $100 million in annual revenue and three million customers. Three years later, Parsons launched Jomax Technologies which would later become GoDaddy – the world's largest domain name registrar. He sold a majority stake in 2011, in a deal that valued the company at $2.3 billion. In 2012 Parsons founded YAM Worldwide under which he owns and operates more than a dozen companies, including PXG (Parsons Xtreme Golf), Scottsdale National Golf Club, Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale, GO AZ Motorcycles, and YAM Properties. Over the years, three of Parsons entrepreneurial ventures – Parsons Technology (#11, 1992), GoDaddy (#8, 2004) and now PXG (#123, 2019) – have been recognized by Inc Magazine as being among America's fastest growing privately-held companies. Parsons, with his wife and PXG President of Apparel, Renee started The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation in 2012 to reach marginalized populations and causes often underfunded by mainstream philanthropy. The Foundation provides transformational grants to nonprofit organizations successfully working in the areas of homelessness, medical care, LGBTQ youth, education and the needs of wounded veterans and military families. In his new book, FIRE IN THE HOLE!, Bob tells the story of how he went from having absolutely nothing to making more than $3 billion dollars. FIRE IN THE HOLE! is honest, hilarious, outrageous, raw, and full of valuable business and life lessons.

Bob is one of the most successful businessmen in America, founding multiple companies, including GoDaddy and now PXG Golf. Bob and his wife Renee have multiple philanthropic causes they are passionate about helping and making a positive impact in the lives of many people. Today we're talking with the founder of Go Daddy dot com, PXG Golf clubs and Marine Corps combat veteran Bob Parsons about his new book, “Fire in The Hole! The Untold Story of my Traumatic Life and Explosive Success”. While he is best known for being an icon of the Internet age, in the late 1960's he was a tough kid from Baltimore, who fought for his life in Vietnam. Parsons shares vivid (and at times hilarious) stories from his days on "Hill 190" in Vietnam. Later, Parsons tracks his career through the early 1980's when he was an accountant and self-taught computer programmer, who eventually earned a small fortune by selling a computer software program he wrote from his small home-based business. He also describes the early days of his Internet domain name company, and the events that would change his life, and the Internet, forever. Parsons offers details about the tumultuous journey building GoDaddy dot com, the dot Com bust of the early 2000's and the path that would eventually make him a billionaire.Through it all, Parsons maintains "everything I've ever accomplished, I owe to the Marine Corps."Check out his exciting new memoir, "Fire in Hole: The Untold Story of my Traumatic Life and Explosive Success" https://bobparsons.com/fire-in-the-hole/Launches May 7, 2024To reach CBS Eye on Veterans, Host and Navy vet, Phil Briggsphil@connectingvets.comFollow on X@philbriggsVet@EyeOnVeterans See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Nick Jahnke, the Vice President of U.S. Sales at PXG joins Paul on the Behind the Golf Brand Podcast. Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG) was founded in September of 2013 by well-known businessman, philanthropist and golf nut Bob Parsons. PXG was born out of Parsons' desire to make the world's best golf equipment. A shared passion for the greatest game ever played and equitable obsession with club technology led Parsons to partner with two highly respected golf club designers to develop the finest equipment on the planet. Parsons demanded of his designers what most golfers dream about: a sexy set of golf irons that look like blades, launch higher, go farther, feel softer and have a sweet spot the size of Texas. "PXG clubs have to feel like butter and the difference has to be noticeable. With no cost or time constraints, the duo began the long process of researching various alloys, exploring new technologies and identifying the unique properties that would make PXG clubs unlike anything else. More than 200 global patents later, Parsons Xtreme Golf has introduced a full line of golf clubs that are forcing golfers to change the way they think about the game. In response to explosive growth since its inception, PXG has quickly become an international brand, with stores, fitters, retailers and distributors around the world.Support the show

Andy and Brendan send you off to the weekend with a fun 50 minutes on … a wide range of subjects. They begin with some reaction to Zach Johnon jamming right in their faces with an opening round 10-under 62. Then they somehow get on the subject of the proper way to cut grilled cheese, parents who email the school too much, and Coco Gauff's pasta endorsement. There's more discussion on some Palm Springs matters, like Jon Rahm allegedly being in town and playing in some games, Nick Dunlap's impressive showing, and Billy Boy mic'd up on PGA Tour Live. They also discuss Bernhard Langer announcing this year will be his last Masters and Fred Ridley saying Angel Cabrera will be welcomed back if he gets his visa. Some Pelley quotes about a “global tour” are also dissected and analyzed as fairly pushy on his strategic alliance. They close with a Golf Advice segment on a boss making an employee take his son out to his fancy club and a Bob Parsons speech at the Asia Pacific Golf Summit in Vietnam.

a fairly odd couple Mart the dart spent the week at the PXG headquarters getting a fitting and got to sit down briefly with Bob Parsons the Founder of PXG.
It's Victory Monday! Andy and Brendan delight in their teams' Sunday success before looking ahead to the highly anticipated Bears-Browns clash this coming week. Then they get into the memo from the PGA Tour Policy Board announcing that they've singled out, unanimously, a funding partner in Strategic Sports Group, inclusive of Fenway, to proceed with in negotiations in conjunction with the PIF. They discuss what this might mean for the future of the Tour, where it stands now with Rahm gone, Cantlay allegedly having more power, and Jordan Spieth pushing back on that narrative. The second half is Part 5 of The 2023 Year in Review, picking up with Andy playing Augusta National, the RBC Heritage week, an amusing never-before-told Bob Parsons story, and closing out with the Byron Nelson.
I've been seriously thinking about taking up golf. I've played a little and whacked a few balls pretty far at the driving range but I'm not what you would call a golfer. Probably because it usually takes 4 hours to play, and I usually don't have an extra 4 hours. But I'm rethinking the whole idea. Why don't I have 4 hours to do something I might like? I waste just as much time walking around my house. LOL No doubt the sport of golf is growing and certainly there are many like me who have the desire, but not the knowledge or the time or the outfits, but there are some good pretty good reasons to rethink it. My recent introduction to PXG (Parsons Xtreme Golf), founded by GoDaddy's Bob Parsons, has piqued my interest. PXG is known known for its innovative approach to golf and its support for veterans' causes. They have 22 locations nationwide, where you can buy clubs and apparel and get a golf club fitting, and they even offer a mobile golf club fitting service for country clubs. Their newest location and first in the Northeast, their PXG Superstore just opened in New Rochelle, NY. Not far from where I live. So, I went to go see it. It's a wow. When I met Jason Tomlinson who runs the new PXG location, I invited him to come talk about the company, the store, the game and what they're doing to encourage new players. We both agreed: · Golf's has a positive impact on fitness. · Golf has a challenging mental aspect to the game. · Golf allows you to enjoy nature which is therapeutic. · Golf is a networking tool: a wonderful way for businesspeople to create relationships and the growing inclusion of women in the sport is refreshing. Jason and PXG want to help you all learn to play golf without feeling awkward. One upcoming event at their N.Y. location on December 9th in partnership with Westfair Communications is called "Demystifying Golf - Learn to Swing and Network”. It's from 10am -12:30 at PXG Golf, 100 Nardozzi Place New Rochelle, NY. LPGA Pro Anya Alverez will lead the clinic. The event is free but space is limited and reservations must be made in advance. Sounds like a fun way to learn about golf and network with other enthusiasts. They'll also be having a series of ongoing free clinics over the next few weeks. At PXG's huge new Rochelle facility, Jason says one of the unique things they offer are personalized golf club fittings using Trackman technology. He really emphasized the importance of a proper club fitting for improving one's golf game and said investing in quality golf clubs is an investment in one's golfing future. I think a ‘Golf Club Fitting' is a perfect gift idea for any golf enthusiast or anyone starting out. And from what I saw of the incredibly stylish PXG golf apparel around the store, anyone wearing that stuff could look like a pro whether they play the game or not. LOL But if you know you me you know I prefer ‘authentic', which is why I really like the PXG company values a lot. They're commited to supporting veterans and supporting the professional players on tour who have values that resonate. PXG's Heroes program, also offers discounts to the military and first responders. Bob Parsons and his wife have generously given away nearly $300 million to charities since 2012. Enjoy this lighthearted and informative podcast of the live radio conversation with Jason Tomlinson of PXG Golf on The Debbie Nigro Show.
