Former Penn State footballer now NFL color commentator, Brandon Noble joined the show. Brandon will have a headset on in the booth for Steelers-Bills on Sunday. He doesn't think the Steelers have much of a chance. If they want to have one, they need to get the run game going and take some shots downfield, according to Brandon. He gave a few ways the Steelers defense can possibly slow down Josh Allen and said the defense has to mix things up. He described Allen as a creature and is happy he doesn't have to worry about how to defend him. He said there has to be an athletic player at the second or third level of the defense serving as a spy. Brandon said, besides Kenny Pickett, Minkah Fitzpatrick has to have another unbelievable game for the Steelers to pull the upset. Brandon also had some wonderful food takes.

Brandon Noble is a former All-Conference Defensive Lineman at Penn State and 9-year NFL Veteran with the Dallas Cowboys and (then) Washington Redskins. Whether it's preparing to play cornhole or football under the lights of a nationally televised game, Brandon talks about handling the pressure of the spotlight and the critical importance of having a “routine” to deal with it. He also shares what the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl is like for players and the emotional stress and preparation they go through - both on and off the field - leading up to Sunday's game.
The former NFLer gives his take on how a Chargers-Raiders "Sunday Night Football" tie gets them both in the playoffs.
Wrapping a week's worth of Penn State football news into one whirlwind podcast, our full cast of characters share one long, lingering glance back at the Stripe Out before closing the book on the Nittany Lions' non-revenge-game "Revenge Game" shutout of the Indiana Hoosiers. Brandon Noble, who once upon a time played for college-legend-turned-NFL-punchline Steve Spurrier, shares some perspective on the current controversy embroiling analyst-turned-laughingstock Urban Meyer, and the guys give their thoughts on what will be the biggest game yet of a season sure to be full of them for #4 Penn State, a road trip to the hostile environs of Kinnick Stadium to take on the #3 Iowa Hawkeyes.HOSTED BY: Brandon Noble, Mike "The Mailman" Herr, Kevin Horne, Chris Buchignani
A big weekend in Happy Valley looms. In under two decades, the Beaver Stadium White Out has cemented its status among the most distinctive traditions of the great American ritual that is college football. After the coronavirus pandemic denied Penn Staters the opportunity to take part in 2020, the White Out returns for a huge non-conference battle - a rare Northern road trip for an SEC school as #22 Auburn arrives to take on #10 Penn State - and ESPN's College GameDay is once again back in the Valley to mark the occasion. The guys talk about the evolution of the tradition, GameDay's newfound affection for State College, and what to expect when the Nittany Lions take on the Tigers. All this plus Brandon Noble's memories from the 1996 Outback Bowl, the waterlogged game that gave Penn State its half of the all-time series with Auburn that is currently tied 1-1. Here's hoping the Lions break the stalemate in our favor on Saturday. #WeAreMoxie: The Worst-Tasting Soda on EarthFor the Blogy: Quantifying the White OutHOSTED BY: Brandon Noble, Mike "The Mailman" Herr, Chris BuchignaniGUEST: Mike Levine
Brandon continues recounting his football journey, this time focusing on his two seasons as a full-time starter for Penn State. These years spanned a "disappointing" encore to the 1994 Big Ten title in '95, punctuated by a legendary snow-swept home victory over Michigan and a bounce-back bowl win against Auburn, followed by an 11-2 season in '96, in which Brandon was named a senior captain and finished out his PSU career as defensive MVP of the Fiesta Bowl. Brandon reflects on this era of Nittany Lions football as well as his struggles breaking into the NFL as an undrafted free agent on the San Francisco practice squad. There's a lot to tell about his time in the pros (Barcelona, Dallas, Washington), and Chris, Kevin, and Mailman kept dragging him into digressions (go figure), so there will be a Part 3 in the not-too-distant future.HOSTED BY: Brandon Noble, Mike Herr, Kevin Horne, Chris BuchignaniSupport Our Great Sponsors:Sign up for a free 30-day trial of Audible: audibletrial.com/ObligatoryPSUForward your registration email to obligatorypsu@gmail.com & be entered to win a signed Adrian Amos mini helmet!Happy Valley Adventure Bureau: HappyValley.comCentral PA Tasting Trail: CentralPATastingTrail.com
Re-releasing Part One of our interview with Obligatory co-host Brandon Noble (originally published in August 2019) in advance of the all-new second installment coming next week. Brandon's got a great story about the intersection of life and football, and he tells it well.In this first interview, Brandon talks about the journey that took him across the country – from Southern California to Virginia Beach – and eventually to Happy Valley, suiting up for some of JoePa's best teams in the mid-1990's: The recruiting process, choosing between Michigan and Penn State, and his first three years in the program, which included plenty of adversity and adjustment as well as a chance to play for an undefeated Big Ten and Rose Bowl champion. Our next installment will cover his role as a key starter at defensive tackle in 1995-96, from the legendary "Snowball Game" against Michigan in '95 to ending his career as Fiesta Bowl MVP the following year, and how his pro football career nearly ended before it began.HOSTED BY: Brandon Noble, Mike Herr, Chris Buchignani
So...that wasn't great. Nearly right out of the shoot on this week's show we're joined by Bradley & Nikki Bozeman to talk about that and their "Thanksgiveaway" today at M&T Bank Stadium. Then...we talked about it more. Late in Hour 1, we dished out our #SlapsToTheHelmet for the loss, Glenn and Kyle were in agreement about who topped the list. Early in Hour 2, former NFL Defensive Lineman Brandon Noble joined us after he called yesterday's game for Sports USA radio-what is going wrong here? Can it be fixed? Should they stick with J.K. Dobbins as their primary back moving forward? At the bottom of Hour 2, 105.7 The Fan's Jeremy Conn joined us to discuss the ESPN feature on Mo Gaba and the NFL Network feature coming up tomorrow night and the Ravens' continued struggles. Late in Hour 2, we continued our college basketball previews as UMBC coach Ryan Odom joined us and we wrapped up the show by recapping another brutal weekend for Picks.
Mike & Brodes opened the show talking about the rivalries throughout the NFC East. Brandon Noble, former NFL DT, joins to talk about the Eagles and the division.
So that was...rough. But was it more "fluke" or "indictment?" Glenn is convinced it was more fluke and we discussed that at length to start the show. A few minutes in, former Chargers team doctor Dr. David Chao (@ProFootballDoc/Outkick) joined us to discuss why he doesn't expect Ronnie Stanley's injury to linger into next year. Our buddy Ron from Owings Mills checked in...to say things Ron from Owings Mills would say. Late in Hour 1, Yahoo! Sports' Frank Schwab explained to us why he thought it was more "fluke." Early in Hour 2, we chatted with former NFL Defensive Lineman Brandon Noble-who called yesterday's game for Compass Media. He explained why he thought it was more indictment and the issues with HOW the Ravens are running the ball. Then our friend "The NFL Chick" Syreeta Hubbard checked in to react live to the news of Marlon Humphrey's positive test plus her reaction to the loss and what it was like to be back in the stands finally. We wrapped Hour 2 with our weekly visit with 105.7 The Fan's Jeremy Conn about the Ravens' loss and our support for everyone to vote YES on sports betting being legalized in Maryland. Then we wrapped by dishing out some Slaps to the Helmet and recapping a brutal Picks week-at least for Glenn.
The Eagles lose again (and suffer more injuries), yet they're still just a half-game out in the NFC East with a Thursday night game against the Giants fast approaching. Plenty of Birds talk this week, but we also welcome former NFL defensive lineman BRANDON NOBLE to the show to preview the 2020 Penn State season that kicks off this Saturday. Brandon was a defensive tackle on the unbeaten 1994 Nittany Lions team and played in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys and Washington (Redskins). Freddy Burns has his weekly Fantasy Football tips, too, and Fred and Jim "Chet" Chesko have their Week 7 NFL picks.
We discussed the following things on today's show: a doctor told Glenn about his pee, maybe we don't need football practice anymore?, should we feel sorry for Jose Altuve?, potentially starting a show OnlyFans with a bait and switch involving Gary Stein, and other things too. It's #WouldYouRatherWednesday-would you rather Le'Veon Bell sign in Pittsburgh and revert back to his former self or sign in Kansas City and do the same? At the end of Hour 1, Navy football coach Ken Niumatalolo joined us after recording his 100th win Saturday against Temple-discussing the roller coaster year they've had and how his players have proved their resilience. And at the top of Hour 2, former NFL Defensive Lineman Brandon Noble joined-he's on the call for Ravens/Eagles Sunday on Sports USA Radio. Does he think the Ravens are throwing the ball too much?
In the latest episode of the Collegian Football Podcast, co-hosts Ben Ferree and Evan Patrick are joined by former Penn State and NFL defensive lineman Brandon Noble. The episode opens by discussing the latest new surrounding the Big Ten’s decision to not play football this fall and how Noble is handling the coronavirus pandemic as a high school football coach. Then, Noble discusses the Bright Spot Cafe and the work he has done with the community to donate meals to essential workers throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
With the NFL season upon us, the guys follow up on the last show about former Penn State players who survived cuts to make a professional roster by giving Brandon Noble a platform to share his own journey of Happy Valley to the pros. Like several current Nittany Lions, Brandon had to take the tougher path of an undrafted free agent. He explains the process of going from Big Ten champ and Fiesta Bowl MVP to a career in Dallas and Washington via Barcelona, Spain. Plus, Chris and Kevin purge their recruiting angst, and Mike the Mailman's got guaranteed-to-not-be-guaranteed gambling trends for the weekend of 9/12.HOSTED BY: Brandon Noble, Mike Herr, Kevin Horne, Chris Buchignani
In this episode I submit my ballot for the NBA's 1st Team All-Flop, then I am joined by Brandon Noble to discuss the 8 seeding games we watched from the Bucks, preview the first round matchup with the Orlando Magic and begin to take a look at the Bucks' path through the playoffs.
In this episode I am joined again by Brandon Noble to discuss the Bucks disappointing restart, preview their matchup with the Heat on Thursday and make some predictions.
In this episode, I am joined by Brandon Noble to play Good, Bad and Maybe? with the Bucks three scrimmages, preview Bucks v. Celtics and make some predictions, play some trivia and Brandon drops some WNBA "Wubble" knowledge on us.
With decades of passionate Penn State fandom and, in the case of Brandon Noble, five years wearing the Blue and White followed by a decade in the pros, the guys have witnessed a lot of incredible talents suit up for both the Nittany Lions and their opponents. In this installment, they reminisce about some of their favorites, from PSU greats like Aaron Harris and Courtney Brown to loathed, but respected enemies like Juice Williams, Orlando Pace, and Antwaan Randle El. Few of sports fandom's simple pleasures are better than indulging in a good "hey, remember some guys" conversation that takes you back to fun times appreciating incredible efforts from your favorite, and even not-so-favorite, players, and few times for that indulgence are better than now, amidst the uncertainty of our times when the chance to make more such memories in 2020 remains very much in doubt. Enjoy the diversion and maybe a chance to educate yourself on the greatness of some college players past.Aaron Harris Penn State Highlights: https://youtu.be/TCicgnC6WLUAntwaan Randle El IU Highlights: https://youtu.be/4Ynm1xKY_tgHOSTED BY: Brandon Noble, Mike Herr, Kevin Horne, Chris Buchignani

All Big Ten DT and 9-yr NFL veteran for the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins, Brandon Noble, coming strong with thoughts on why football is ON this year! Plus behind the scenes he's using his new restaurant to feed Covid-19 responders.. Awesome story!
For many Penn State fans, one of the highlights of the entire quarantine came last week when NBC Sports replayed the 1987 Fiesta Bowl, Penn State's dramatic upset victory over to Miami to claim its second national title. The guys talk about that game, the experience of watching it back in 2020, hearing stories from former players on the Alumni Association livestream, and whether they can get into replays of old games. Elsewhere, Kevin gets lots on hiking trails behind the Arboretum; Brandon Noble sets his parents' car on fire, and Chris explains how Penn State nicknamed its positions on defense. Enjoy. Stay safe. Stay sanitized. Stay home. #WeAreHere's the Michael Weinreb article referenced in the show: The Night College Football Went to HellHOSTED BY: Brandon Noble, Mike Herr, Kevin Horne, Chris Buchignani
What better time to stir the pot than during a global quarantine? With all four of the Obligatory cast back together again, the guys take on some sacred accepted "truths" of the Penn State community and argue that, in fact, they're more misconception and myth. Mailman wants football fans to lose to their fixation on winning, while Chris insists you need to stop obsessing over "4th and 5." But to no one's surprise probably, Kevin has the spiciest take when he challenges the notion that Penn State has "great" sports fans. In other news, Brandon Noble becomes a cable news/PSU social media celebrity, and Mike the Mailman recounts the time he got a call from the Postmaster General. Hate mail is still interaction, and isn't that something we're all craving more than ever? So have at it, Nittany Nation. We do our best this time out to be unlikable (more than usual) for your aggravation and entertainment. Enjoy! And stay safe. Stay sanitized. Stay home. #WeAreHOSTED BY: Brandon Noble, Mike Herr, Kevin Horne, Chris Buchignani
Friend of the Huddle Brandon Noble joins the Huddle. Brandon played Defensive Tackle for the 49ers, Cowboys, and Redskins. He is a Penn State Nittany Lion and is a co-host of The Obligatory Penn State Podcast. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Or, Heart & Soul of the Greatest 8-4 Season Ever Played From the moment two Penn State legacies emerged from the Lasch Building amidst Penn State's darkest hour and brazenly declared to the world that the 2012 Nittany Lions viewed a whirlwind of media scrutiny, public backlash, and NCAA sanctions as “an opportunity, not a punishment,” the lives of seniors Michael Zordich and Michael Mauti – along with the story of Dead Old State – changed forever. Now a team of filmmakers are nearing completion on an ambitious documentary film, Iron Lions, chronicling the incredible 2012 Penn State football season. Brandon Noble recently sat down over beers with Mauti and Zordich to talk football, life, the roller coaster ride of 2012 and how it shaped them as men, and their involvement with helping bring Iron Lions to the screen. FROM THE ‘IRON LIONS' TEAM: Production on “IRON LIONS: The Greatest 8-4 Season Ever” is well underway, and we hope to complete the film by August of 2019. IRON LIONS is the true story about the 2012 Penn State Football team, who rose from the ashes and defined what it means to have “Success With Honor.” Fueled by childhood dreams and legacy bloodlines, this team of Iron Lions stayed and fought for something much greater than football. This films tells their triumphant story. You can watch the trailer at www.ironlionsmovie.com where you will hear from several of the Iron Lions, Franco Harris, Coach Bill O'Brien, and Saquon Barkley. We are close to raising the funds to create this movie, but we need YOUR support to help us reach final fundraising goals. These funds are necessary to make the best film possible, so the world can watch and hear the powerful story of these young men who stared adversity in the face and did not back down. HOSTED BY: Brandon Noble GUEST: Michael Zordich, Michael Mauti
Or, How to Avoid Being Switched from D-Lineman to Center The guys try a bit of role reversal this week, giving Brandon a chance to be the “guest” and talk about the journey that took him across the country – from Southern California to Virginia Beach – and eventually to Happy Valley, suiting up for some of JoePa's best teams in the mid-1990's. In this first interview, Brandon talks about the recruiting process, choosing between Michigan and Penn State, and his first three years in the program, which included plenty of adversity and adjustment as well as a chance to play for an undefeated Big Ten and Rose Bowl champion in State's second year of membership in the conference. A future installment will cover his role as a key starter at defensive tackle in 1995-96 and the roller coaster ride through the professional ranks that followed. HOSTED BY: Brandon Noble, Mike Herr, Chris Buchignani
Or, The 2 Return Trips All Penn State Alumni Should Make The whole gang is finally back together, and in classic Obligatory fashion, the conversation quickly skews into a digression from which it never fully recovers. Brandon, Kevin, Chris, and Mailman relax by the banks of Spruce Creek at Voodoo Brewery's State College location, waxing philosophical on a range of topics including: Beer (of course), Summer in Happy Valley, Penn State graduation, the end of “Senior Week,” Penn State's two law schools, the street value of a Brandon Noble autograph (and your chances of receiving one in the mail, upon request), and Chris' two pieces of essential advice for every PSU alum planning a trip back to State College: Pick and non-event weekend in the Summer, and come back for a relaxing weekend to experience town, campus, and the surrounding areas (experience Mount Nittany!) during the slowest-paced time of year. Plan a Fall football trip far enough in advance to take the extra time off and arrive mid-week. Experience town and campus on the Thursday and Friday leading up to the game, and make some time to walk through the surrounding neighborhoods to appreciate what a great college atmosphere we have at Old State. HOSTED BY: Brandon Noble, Mike Herr, Kevin Horne, Chris Buchignani
(https://atgridiron.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/ATG-Noble.png) Brandon played 9 seasons in the NFL, playing with the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins. He also spent time in NFL Europe with the Barcelona Dragons. He didn’t start playing football until grade 8, because his mother didn’t let him play up until then. He loved the sport, and bugged his mom to let him play but she didn’t until then. The funny thing is, once he experienced his first practice with pads, he did everything he could to quit! He would fake illness, forget his helmet, and whatever he could to not play anymore. He moved to Virginia and that allowed him to “save face” with friends and he continued to play. He overcame his initial fears and became a top rated recruit in the State. He chose to attend Penn State University, going with his gut, even though he almost committed to Michigan after his visit there. He had an outstanding career at Penn State and earned All Big-10 honours there. However his lack of prototype size for a defensive tackle made him not as attractive to NFL teams. He was projected to be a 3rd-5th round selection prior to the draft but he went undrafted and signed as a free-agent with the 49ers. They sent him to NFL Europe two years in a row and he absolutely loved his experience there. It was like college without the classes. Living in the hotel, traveling around Europe, playing football and hanging out with friends was amazing. However after the seconds stint there he didn’t want to resign with San Fran due to the depth of talent they had on the defensive line. So he signed with Dallas. He finally got his opportunity with them and when circumstances provided him with a chance he made the most of it. After establishing himself as a starter there, he later signed as a free agent with the Redskins. He wanted to stay in Dallas but had to go where he would be compensated fairly. His career ended rather abruptly, due to complications from surgeries that almost killed him. On the cusp of performing a risky surgery that would have allowed him to continue playing his wife stepped in and told his doctor that “he was done!” Not expecting to be done at that time he wasn’t sure what his next move would be career wise. He had part-time opportunities with coaching and broadcasting and did both for a while. He was offered a full-time coaching position and did that for a while at a few schools. Not wanting to uproot his family constantly and all the hours spent at the facility that coaching requires he decided to leave college coaching and do something else. He has now started Blue White-Media which covers Penn State Football and it continues to grow. For more information on that and keep up with Brandon please go to the links provided below. website: www.bluewhitemedia.com (http://www.bluewhite-media.com) facebook: www.facebook.com/bluewhitemediapsu/ (https://www.facebook.com/bluewhitemediapsu/?__tn__=%2CdkC-R&eid=ARDEMWpEq_x9MU4UBV_BC2nh5s5qT5Ih5y4-sHk_whn-rwwOi_m7VEbfVFl59FklMcBgrkeYaiskDCyo&hc_ref=ARRB7lPV5qGGQW_6GKBG1J8DlcZRVm17u_8fkDV7xd7gPCu2CY6jK_tj7W9IG7qN1AE) twitter: www.twitter.com/bnoble75 (https://twitter.com/bnoble75?lang=en) Resources www.atgridiron.com (https://www.atgridiron.com) www.symfonies.ca (http://www.symfonies.ca)
Or, Happy Valley Voodoo of Slab Cabin Run Mike the Mailman is on assignment (playing cards), but the rest of the gang – Penn State and NFL defensive tackle Brandon Noble, former Onward State managing editor Kevin Horne, and aspiring virtual lion tamer Chris Buchignani – are all on hand for the triumphant return of the Obligatory podcast. The guys kick back along waters of Slab Cabin Run enjoying the hospitality of Voodoo Brewery and cover a range of topics in this return episode – the forgotten tradition of “not walking on the S” and the importance of ritual, the family-friendly (and less so) aspects of Blue-White Weekend, the killer instinct of local birds of prey, and the cultural phenomenon that is Game of Thrones (Brandon and Chris even sneak in some football talk while Kevin gets a refill). It's good to be back! This was recorded 24 hours before Tommy Stevens entered the transfer portal. Enjoy this break from pointless speculation and stale takes and thank us later. As a player Brandon was a three year starter at defensive tackle for Joe Paterno at Penn State, playing in the 1995 Rose Bowl, 1996 Outback Bowl, and capping his career as the Defensive MVP of the 1997 Fiesta Bowl.
