This week… The fellas were prepped and ready to welcome Kim Davis, the host of the true crime podcast Slaycation. For reasons unknown Kim never joined the show. The date and time was confirmed but Kim was nowhere to be found. Hopefully her not showing up isn't the start of a true crime mystery, DUN DUN DUN! If it is, it was probably the husband or a scorned lover. Ah jeez I listened to a few too many true crime pods to prep for this episode and it got me nowhere! Thanks a lot Slaycation. Luckily Max had a true crime story ready to tell, and of “coors” it had to do with beer. Andy filled in for Kim and FaceTimed the whole show. They talked WI sports briefly, then battled the Urban Dictionary and found a few gems! They'll be out next week but they talked about creating the bar top challenge and what they'll be doing in their time off. The fellas were feeling pretty down but the beers kept their spirits high and they laughed and joked through another sode! But before any of the nonsense, they saved the best for first, with the Beer of the Week! During the BOW the fellas rate and review a new beer. They discuss the history of the brewery and examine what's in the beer they're drinking. Then, they break down the beer by its drinkability, the probability they'd drink it again, its chugability, and the can's attractability. Find out if Brooklyn Brewery's Brooklyn Lager passed the HUA test.Beer of the Week: 07:20 - 01:12:20WI Sports W/ Andy O!: 01:13:30 - 01:33:00HUA v.s. Examples (courtesy of Beer Advocate)(https://www.beeradvocate.com)Lager | Brooklyn BreweryBrewed by: Brooklyn Brewery New York, United Statesbrooklynbrewery.com Style: American Amber / Red Lager Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20% Notes / Commercial Description: In the late 1800’s Brooklyn was one of the largest brewing centers in the country, home to more than 45 breweries. Lager beer in the “Vienna” style was one of the local favorites. Brooklyn Lager is amber-gold in color and displays a firm malt center supported by a refreshing bitterness and floral hop aroma. Caramel malts show in the finish. The aromatic qualities of the beer are enhanced by “dry-hopping”, the centuries-old practice of steeping the beer with fresh hops as it undergoes a long, cold maturation. The result is a wonderfully flavorful beer, smooth, refreshing and very versatile with food. Dry-hopping is largely a British technique, which we’ve used in a Viennese-style beer to create an American original.Toasted Lager | Blue Point Brewing CompanyBrewed by: Blue Point Brewing Company New York, United Statesbluepointbrewing.com Style: American Amber / Red Lager Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.50% Notes / Commercial Description: Our flagship and most popular brew, Toasted Lager is the best American amber Lager you’ll ever taste. To back up that claim, we use six different grains to perfect a balanced flavor of malt and hops, and a special proprietary lager yeast to give Toasted Lager an exceptional, long-lasting smooth finish that’s meant to be enjoyed year-round. Pairs perfectly with fresh seafood...or any food for that matter.Lashes Hopbock Lager | Jack's Abby BrewingCraft Beer Storm Podcast with Jack! - Episode 19 - Jack of Jack's Abby Lagers Talks Beer – Check it out!Brewed by: Jack's Abby Brewing Massachusetts, United Statesjacksabbybrewing.com Style: American Amber / Red Lager Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.80% Notes / Commercial Description: This Red IPL balances an assertive Munich Malt character with an infusion of Super Styrian, Columbus, and Palisades hops. Pumpkin pie and candy abounds in our third Halloween special, as we discuss one of the most cartoonish, colourful tributes to Samhain the genre has to offer. Werewolves, slashers, demons, zombies, middle-aged swinger parties; Trick ‘r Treat has it all. Amongst the candy stuffed in our over-sized jack-o-lanterns this year is some Witch’s Brew, Spooks Ale, Brooklyn Lager and Brew Dog’s Pumpkin King. Oh, and Dee had a cup of strawberry tea. Don’t forget to check your candy!

Kayaks at the ready, fellow podcasteteers; we’re paddling our way to Devil’s Creek this episode as we look at one of the most notorious summer camp slashers of all time. That’s right: it’s time to face the legend of Cropsy in Tony Maylam’s 1981 video nasty classic The Burning. Sheared fingers, Savini makeup, scrotum-faced killers; what’s not to like? To keep us afloat aboard our poorly-constructed makeshift podcast raft, we’ve packed a few beers in our knapsacks: Hell Fire Pale Ale, Shearer English Bitter, Brooklyn Lager, Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter and some Marks & Spencer Suffolk Mosaic Pale Ale.

It’s time for a spot of gut-munching, foetus-eating Italian splattersploitation action this episode, courtesy of Joe d’Amato and George Eastman’s collaborative cannibalistic video nasty Anthropophagous. We’re island-hopping on the vacation of a lifetime, trying not to be hideously murdered by a seven foot tall psychopath with breadcrumbs glued to his face. Luckily, we’ve got some barrels of beer in our creepy cellar to hide in: namely Peroni, Brooklyn Lager and Beavertown’s Neck Oil. Let’s hope the Tarot cards are stacked in our favour.

Season 1, Episode 19 - This week on the show, we harpooned some whalez from the other side of the continent, Brooklyn Brewery. Welcome to Four Brewers, the one-day-late edition. As many of you know, the Great American Beer Festival came to a close last Saturday (…it was AWESOME!), which means we were pretty much in recovery mode when we got home, and couldn’t get the show edited and out on time. Better late than never, right? RIGHT. This week, Matt and his totally awesome rad wife hooked us up with some Brew fromBrooklyn Brewery out of New York. We rarely see Brooklyn Brewery’s beer in this neck of the woods, so it goes without saying that these are quite a treat for us. Brooklyn Brewery Beers. We kick off the show with the only beer made with the Sorachi Ace hop that Matt can stomach, Brooklyn’s Sorachi Ace. Sorachi Ace hops tend to have a very perfume-like nose to them, and can really dominate the overall experience of a beer, since they live somewhere in the neighborhood of 18% alpha acid. This beer both combats and compliments this hop with Brooklyn Brewery’s own in-house strain of Belgian ale yeast. It’s one of the best Sorachi Ace beers around, and definitely worth seeking out. Silver Anniversary Lager is next up, which is essentially a doppelbock strength version of their Brooklyn Lager. We tangent for a bit (surprised?) and discuss gluten-free food stuffs, the Beer Wars documentary, and the history of Brooklyn Brewery’s iconic logo. Last but not least is the Brooklyn Cuvée Noire, a 10.6% ABV bourbon barrel-aged, Belgian style stout made with sweet orange peel. This bottle happens to be blend #4, and it’s pretty fantastic. As excited as we were to drink these bottles of radness, we got off topic quite a bit, and honestly, didn’t spend a whole lot of time discussing the beers. Hey, it happens. If you’re missing the homebrew aspect of the show, next week’s episode will feature a brew from Mr. Nagel. Greg’s no slacker, yo. Brew the shit out of it! To mark the thirtieth anniversary of the passing of the Video Recordings Act in the UK, this episode we look back on the 'video nasty' debacle, focussing our attentions on one of the most infamous titles caught up in the hysteria; Ruggero Deodato's Cannibal Holocaust. Elsewhere in the podcast, Dee and Paul battle it out in 'Iain's Video Nasty Quiz', with the hope of proving once and for all who knows the most about low-budget, banned exploitation horror films from the '70s and '80s. And if that in itself ain't an enviable victory prize, then I frigging well have no idea what is. As the panel picks over the remaining chunks of flesh left clinging to a severed hand found deep in the Colombian jungle, we quench our thirst with Greene King IPA, Peroni Doppio Malto, Cusqueña, Kinnegar's Devil's Backbone and Brooklyn Lager. Yum.

We were selling at a rice right above Heineken we had no money for marketing, nobody had ever heard of the beer and we couldn’t give anybody credit – we wanted to be paid cash for something nobody ever heard of.” [10:00] –Steve Hindy on Beer Sessions Radio
