machine_logic on the "7B's Brunch" Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions at the Queen Anne Beer Hall 5/22/21 About machine_logic - machine_logic, curator of deep, hypnotic, progressive dance grooves with a delicate, ethereal chemistry. Always digging deep, his emotive selections tell a story. With every set, he shares more and more tiny pieces of himself. Having grown up with an eclectic collection, it took him a great while to come around to the sound he's carved out for himself. He cut his teeth in 1999 at KGRG-Auburn, at Green River Community College, where was music director. He hosted their industrial radio program, KGRG's Propaganda Department. From there came a spattering of club gigs that turned into some local residencies, more club gigs, and then his selection became more and more eclectic, yet more refined. Traipsing through a variety of styles, he finally landed with a massive collection of the emotive and uplifting side of techno, house and breaks (quite the 180 from his years in the industrial scene, for sure). While the music he plays is happy, soulful and playful, he is never afraid to show those dark roots, especially when the dancefloor heats up. CHRIS138 Pt. 1 on the 7B's Brunch presented by The DJ Sessions at the Queen Anne Beer Hall 5/1/21 About CHRIS138 - Chris Roeder, known as CHRIS138. was born and raised in Southern California and made his way up to the PNW in 2015. He first grew a love for trance music listening to Tiesto's “Elements of Life” album, and since then, his passion has grown from listening to mixing. Over time, his music taste has diversified and he now mixes anything from Trance, to Melodic House, to Hardstyle, to even Dubstep on occasion. The 138 in his name stands for 138 beats per minute commonly found in trance, as his trance sets contain emotion and energy flowing throughout the mix. Being a newcomer in the industry, ZONA started DJing as a Senior in High School in 2018 playing small gatherings and parties for friends. Her journey into music started at an early age where she found solace in the night life and rave scene as a refugee from a torn country that encouraged a wildly creative imagination, resilience and hard work ethic. Growing up in Germany and Portugal after the fall of the regime in Romania, she settled in the U.S. she started her “after work” career at the age of 22 as a promoter for some of Seattle's major dance clubs. Here she became close friends with many of today's Dance music's heavy hitters that would ignite and encourage her love for music. Working nights in the music scene didn't take away her smarts or ambition where she spent her days building engineering teams for large enterprise companies such as Microsoft. Shortly after her success in the corporate world, she built her own successful and leading technology company in the behavioral health space. Despite having an extremely successful career as a tech entrepreneur she decided after many years in the underground scene to embark on her love for DJing and producing. Honing in on her knack for technology has been an advantage at learning how to produce. Known as a turntablist, he started his journey into djing at age 11. By the time he was 14 year old, Cut started recording with his friends (including Chali 2na of Jurassic 5) in an inclosed sun patio that his dad converted into a small make-shift recording studio. By age 21, Cut was a founding member of both the rap group Jurassic 5 and the Grammy award winning Latin funk outfit, Ozomatli. His involvement with both groups helped develop a taste for music and rhythms from around the world while keeping his passion for the hip hop tradition. His mix-tapes and remixes became critically acclaimed. His ‘Chemist' moniker was fully realized with his instrumental, Lesson 6: The Lecture. As he grew older, vital functions began to fail: He lost the ability to hope and, with it, the ability to dream. His eyes began to fail, so all he could see was darkness and fear. His hearing faded to a point where every new song only sounded “not as good as music used to be.” All of this took a toll on his heart, until eventually that too threatened to break. One day, when it seemed he would finally just wither and turn to dust, he was given a great gift. He was rebuilt, piece by piece… the broken parts replaced, the damaged parts repaired. Now he isn't entirely a man, but not entirely a machine either. He is simply Avian Invasion, and all he can see now is hope. Truncate on The DJ Sessions presents the "Virtual Sessions" 12/02/20 About Truncate - After being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90's in Los Angeles, a teenage David Flores was hooked. He started DJing across Southern California on the DIY warehouse, backyard, desert, and rave circuit. His style then was as varied as the local scene - a myriad of sounds ranging from house to acid to techno to hardcore. After a few years solely DJing, he began releasing original music under the monikers David F & Audio Injection, which landed him on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings. His association with Droid Behavior began in 2003 as resident at the now defunct yet infamous and internationally acclaimed Interface event series alongside Drumcell and Raiz. He currently runs a new event series together with Drumcell and Oktaform named “Observe”. In early 2011, he started the project Truncate to focus on the deeper, raw side of techno. His Truncate releases early on gained critical acclaim from world class underground talent such as Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Eats Everything, Joris Voorn, and many more. Since then, he has provided remixes for artists across the musical spectrum including Kink, Slam, Loco Dice, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Ellen Alien, Miss Kittin, Carl Cox & Nicole Moudaber. tyDi interviewed on The DJ Sessions "Virtual Sessions" 4/22/20 The DJ Sessions "Virtual Sessions" is an interview series that features world renowned DJ's from all over the world. About tyDi - Australian DJ, songwriter, and producer tyDi is a conservatory-trained musician whose eclectic trance and house tracks have earned him a globally dominant profile. Born Tyson Illingworth in Mooloolaba, Australia in 1987, tyDi first became drawn to trance and other types of techno in his early teens. Although he played drums while in high school, he eventually procured a set of DJ turntables and by age 16 won first prize at the Brisbane DJ Wars. After high school tyDi relocated to Brisbane, where he earned his Bachelor of Music Technology from Queensland Conservatorium of Music. While at school, tyDi still found time to perform, building a loyal following with his regular appearances at the Brisbane nightclub The Family. In 2008 he maximized this attention by becoming the youngest artist ever to win the InTheMix Top 50 DJs in Australia contest. After graduating conservatory in 2009, tyDi released his debut album, Look Closer, which rose to the number two slot on the Australian dance chart. Two years later he returned with his sophomore album, Shooting Stars, which hit number one on the dance charts in Australia, Canada, and the U.K. and showcased collaborations with several vocalists including Tania Zygar, Brianna Holan, and Audrey Gallagher. In 2012 he curated the dance mix compilation album Global Soundsystem 2012: California, and the following year he delivered a compilation of his own chillout, non-dance-oriented material, Hotel Room. In 2014 tyDi released his fourth solo album, Redefined, which showcased a more stylistically varied electronic palette and included vocals from Dashboard Confessional's Chris Carrabba and the Ready Set's Jordan Witzigreuter. A bevy of non-album singles followed, including 2016's "Oceans" (with Jack Novak and Greyson Chance) and "Lost" (featuring Asiahn), among others.
