We're all familiar with energy ratings on appliances and cars, but what if your home came with one too? Could this be where the housing market is headed? Today, we sit down with Cecille Weldon, Australia's top expert in residential energy efficiency, to explore what this could mean for the future of housing. Could energy ratings become the next game-changer in real estate? Cecille breaks it down for us — how homes might be rated, who will cover the costs, and whether property buyers and tenants are really willing to pay more for energy-efficient living. With rising energy costs and climate change in the spotlight, this couldn't be a more timely discussion. We also talk about the big moves happening behind the scenes with Cecille giving us the scoop on her work with the NSW Government's Sustainable Homes team, which is pushing for energy ratings to become a standard at the point of sale or rent. It can be a form of (freedom) self-expression, but it's so much more. What is its overall impact upon us as individuals? How does it make us feel? Nima Gorji on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/9/22 About Nima Gorji - To say that music runs in the veins is to know the true meaning behind a 25 year career of Iranian born and Danish native Nima Gorji. Now calling Ibiza home, it is from here that he continues to demonstrate his technique and passion for his music, firmly holding his place amongst his peers and fans alike around the world. All stories must have a beginning, and for Nima it began after listening to artists such as Depeche Mode that the tone was set and the realization that this world was for him, a life of electronic music, machines, turntables and clubs. The 90's in Copenhagen saw the arrival of the clubbing scene with house and techno music, a new sound taking shape in the city and in particular with Nima who was part of this building up of this scene. In 95 he began a residency at the Rust Club, now remembered as one of the most known underground clubs in Copenhagen, where he played alongside a number of international artists, including Kerri Chandler and Kevin Yost. It was also during these years that Nima was focused in the studio and working on his own productions, firstly releasing under the alias Black Powder before moving on and releasing under his own name. Such was his ambition and dedication to his own sound that in 99 he formed his own record label, Welt Recordings to help bring the world's attention to his own productions. This success was soon realized when his track Determination was picked up for the Cocoon (Green & Blue) compilation mixed by Ricardo Villalobos and Loco Dice, and could be heard all over the island of Ibiza that same summer. In 2005 Nima made the decision to move away from his base in Denmark and make for a new one on the island of Ibiza in Spain, where he soon established himself in the local scene with residencies for What's Up at the famous terrace at Space, for Ibiza Underground, Monza and now Next Wave. His music productions continued to gain grounds on labels such as Out Of Orbit, Love Letters From Oslo, Cecille, Murmur and Suburban Tracks. Currently Nima is building up his label Welt Recordings along with new label NG Trax and expanding an ever busy DJ schedule with tours and gigs lined up around the globe. His music and passion behind the decks continue to stir the imagination and hearts of those who truly appreciate and understand what good music is; what runs in the veins runs true and very deep. Ray Okpara on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 1/12/22 About Ray Okpara - An artist whose roots lie half in Nigeria represents today what we understand as House. Percussions, drifty hypnotic beats, a touch of soul and marvelously deep. House is a feeling and Ray Okpara has his finger firmly on the pulse… The first thing that strikes you about Ray Okpara is that he's an overwhelmingly nice guy with what seems like time for everybody but behind the big smile and wiley dreads is one of house music's most serious producer/djs. Despite coming to prominence during the media's 2008 obsession with Frankfurt/Mannheim via releases on Cecille, Oslo, Get Physical and Area Remote, Okpara has been instrumental in Germany's flourishing house scene for well over a decade. Initially taking to the decks to play his close friend Johnny D's UK Garage records in the mid-90's, Okpara quickly found his groove and by the time the pair started their RAJO club night a fervent dedication to all things house engulfed the young Nigerian. In 2001 Nick Curly joined the team and the night began it's residency at The Loft in Mannheim – becoming the seed of what has since become one of the strongest house music family trees in Europe. As with most Djs, the production itch had to be scratched but, unlike most, Okpara's initial efforts betrayed an innate talent for the craft. Lomidhigh Ltd, Drumpoet Community and Arearemote are an enviable bunch to count as early adopters for any budding producer and this start just strengthened Ray's resolve. Rejoining his tight knit group of friends, now running the Oslo, Deep Vibes, Cecille and 8-Bit imprints, after a four year relocation to Berlin in 2005, Ray's reputation was cemented and the rest is history. Now based back in Berlin with a heavy touring schedule as a DJ and a dedicated live artist, Okpara continues to go from strength to strength. His Ama label rolls out consistently quality output in an unhurried manner while his own productions continue to hit home for crowds, critics and record buyers alike. As well as ongoing relationships forged in his Mannheim days, affiliations with Oslo and Mobilee are being nurtured and with many more projects still to be unveiled 2012 and beyond is looking pretty rosy for the cheery guy. KEEP SMILING WITH HOUSE MUSIC... Ama Recordings is Ray Okpara's label out of Mannheim, Germany. Amaefule, Ray's middle name in fact, literally means “your name will never get lost” and it symbolizes the strength of identity we create through music. Ama is also derived from the Latin meaning of love and the philosophy of the label is born out of the affection held for conceiving and sharing quality electronic music. There are no rules about what Ama Recordings will sound like, but it comes from the heart, so expect true house values to be maintained at all times with a natural tipp towards the deep and dubby. http://dj.beatport.com/rayokpara http://www.livet.de/artists/ray_okpara/ http://www.mobilee-records.de/artists/ray-okpara http://soundcloud.com/rayokpara About The DJ Sessions - With over 2,200 episodes produced over the last eleven years “The DJ Sessions”, a Twitch and Mixcloud “Featured Partner”, has featured international artists such as: BT, Robert Babicz, Camo & Krooked, Simon Patterson, Lindsey Stirling, Mako, Morgan Page, Jes, Cut Chemist, Yves Larock, Bjorn Akesson, Alchimyst, Judge Jules, DubFX, DJs From Mars, Ray Okpara, Rudosa, Thievery Corporation, Sander Van Dorn, GAWP, Coke Beats, Hollaphonic, Kissy Sell Out, Somna, David Morales, Roxanne, JB & Scooba, Massimo Vivona, Moullinex, Futuristic Polar Bears, Many Few, Joe Stone, Reboot, Truncate, Scotty Boy, Jody Wisternoff, Benny Bennasi, Dance Loud, Christopher Lawrence, Oliver Twizt, Ricardo Torres, Alex Harrington, 4 Strings, Sunshine Jones, Elite Force, Revolvr, Kenneth Thomas, Paul Oakenfold, George Acosta, Reid Speed, TyDi, Donald Glaude, Jimbo, Ricardo Torres, Hotel Garuda, Bryn Liedl, Rodg, Kems, Mr. Sam, Steve Aoki, Funtcase, Dirtyloud, Marco Bailey, Thousand Fingers, Dirtmonkey, Crystal Method, Beltek, Dyro, Andy Caldwell, Darin Epsilon, Kyau & Albert, Kutski, Vaski, Moguai, Blackliquid, Sunny Lax, Matt Darey, and many more. Join me and my client and friend, Cecille, as we talk about her experience with me as her Virtual Home Organizer. We have been meeting consistently as I helped her organize her closet while she gave me pointers on writing (my dream is to write a book someday), all done through Zoom! Cecille is an author, wife, mom of two adult children, caretaker for her father, retired teacher, and founder of Flowers for Elders, an organization that delivers flower arrangements to patients. She is a busy lady and simply needed someone to come alongside and provide her with guidance and accountability to declutter and organize so she can continue to make more room for all that's dear in her heart. During the decluttering and organizing process, Cecille is working to launch her own podcast! She is amazing! Her podcast is called “Digging Deep for Treasures”, which can be found on Spotify, Anchor, and soon on Apple Podcasts! In this episode, you will get an inside look at what it's like to work with me if you were to be my client. You are ready to hire me as your Virtual Home Organizer if: You feel stuck with an organizing project and would like the momentum to start. You have a vision of what you would like for your space to look like, whether that's your bedroom, closet, office, etc. (hey, even if you don't yet, I can get you there!) You can complete the physical part of organizing (moving items, purchasing the organizing tools, etc.) or can get help from someone nearby who can complete them with you side-by-side. Whether it's a bad job interview or disappointing grades, we've all had those moments where things don't work out how we hoped (or, if it's 2020, a whole year of things not going to plan). But for this episode's super-inspiring guest, it's all about how you react when things don't go to plan. Hannah Cecille grew up in a musical household and she always wanted to be a Broadway star. But once she graduated college, she realized that a life in the theater wasn't at all what she imagined. So she took a beat to reflect, and figured out that her true passion was actually telling people's stories. After a series of twists and turns, she landed her dream job at Instagram, where she brings people's stories to life as a creative producer. In this episode, Hannah and Christine chat about how she got into producing, how she got her first production internship at Refinery29 (and how she dealt with being laid off at 25 years old), and what the day to day is like working as a producer for Instagram. The Terrace Podcast Presents Episode 197 a Re-Broadcast Mix recorded live From Viva Music Pool Party, Shelborne WMC 23.03.2012 [Be@ TV] With consistent studio output and live sets over the last four years, 2010 looks set to be their year, with Dj's including Loco Dice and Steve Lawler heavily strengthening their profile with huge support in their backbeat of warm-swung loops that drift towards the sounds of early house and never fail to unwind with a looped combination of stunning tones, subtle synths and intricate drums. Riding high on the techno scene's recent climate change with grooves that twist and turn each bar yet never loose the consistent grasping control over your body's lower torso; Livio and Roby have been producing percussive prompted beats with a natural European zest long before the majority of today's techno dj's ripped back the parched electronic layer to reveal a more organic house sound. Displaying exceptional production skills, early releases and remixes appeared on Lawler's Global Underground "Lights out 3" and "Viva" compilations. On top of clearly knowing their way around a pair of turntables, 2007 followed with releases thick and fast; the classic simplicity of their gritty underground sound, assembled into increasingly energetic tracks made Livio and Roby one of the most visible names of the deep house resurgence. 2008 saw the pair share the turntables alongside Loco Dice in Romania resulting in the ultimate testament to their musical talent. Dice welcomed Livio and Roby into his community of creativeness, promptly inviting then to join both his booking agency Artist Alife and much applauded label Desolat where they went on to release “Mistique” in collaboration with their pal George G. From their early appearance in the booth with Loco Dice and Martin Buttich at Cocoons Ibiza residency to recent singles on Nick Curly's Cecille imprint, the two Romania producers have built quite a reputation for themselves that really justifies the heavy hype that's been surrounding them of late. Labels including Viva Music, Cecille and Loco Dice's eminent Desolat have welcomed the deep duo to explore a now signature sound, that's awash in the beats that made many of us fall for house in the first place. Exercising their persistent reference to a winning Chicago and Detroit compound, sitting on the deep, percussive side of house has earned them their respected place in the often tangled and disjointed electronic scene. www.theterracepodcast.com
