Sobota later takes on remix duties himself for Tvardovsky and Marc Mitchell and Steve T, to showcase a timely reminder of Brazilian magic. Hello and welcome episode 47 of The DJ B-12 Deep Acid House Experience. I hope you are all doing well out there and I appreciate your support and listenership. This show is for the month of September 2023, and it is dedicated in memory of Ainsley Talbot, my 10-month 3-week-old kitten who passed on August 29, 2023. She had a terrible condition that left her disabled after she was about 2-3 months old. Although she was born normal with her surviving sister, Arianna and her brother, Jackson, it seems, her mother, Gracie (who was a stray cat I took in 3 weeks before they were born), contracted a virus while she was pregnant, which resulted in only Ainsley developing a condition that caused her cerebral cortex to not form properly. It started out with her motor skills diminishing and eventually led to her being only able to lay on her side and needing help doing everything. She was a true fighter, and she will always be my little hero and my best friend, but her broken little body just had enough.  She was the most beautiful, precious, and loving soul I've ever known.  As you can imagine, this was a bittersweet episode for me to do with losing her so young, which is one of the reasons it took me so long to get out, but I wanted to get a fresh mix out with new tunes that I could also dedicate to her. Although this set was worked out ahead of her passing, some of the tracks took on a special meaning because of lyrics and titles. RIP Ainsley girl. Presenting their third release of the year, roku welcomes Blanka Barbara to the label for her debut EP. Born in Poland but now based in London, Blanka Barbara first emerged in 2020 with a series of releases via her Rabbit Records imprint. Quickly catching the attention of the progressive house and melodic techno communities, the next two years would see the classically trained pianist and composer go on to record projects for Lane 8's This Never Happened, Ziger's Eat My Hat Music, John OO Fleming's Joof Aura, Mango Alley and Proton's Particles. With 2023 projects for Juicebox Music and Balkan Connection already in the books, Blanka now adds roku to her resume with ‘Ever Closer', alongside remixes from Danny Lloyd and Bondarev. Destined to be a highlight in Blanka's discography, it is the melodic stylings of ‘Ever Closer' which get the release underway. Electrically charged from the outset, its rolling rhythmic structures, striking percussion and character rich groove set the piece on a course for aural enlightenment. Dark bass stabs and haunting overlays cleverly coax across the first act, elevating momentum and mood for a finale of colourful arps and hopeful sonics. The companion piece ‘Descending Into Heaven' finds Blanka showcasing a deeper, more emotive side of her repertoire. The London resident masterfully marries blissful sonics and balmy effects over a framework of warm fluid grooves and precise percussive arrangements. Sitting at the heart of the piece is a reflective interlude, one where hopeful melodies unite in a whirlpool of textural euphoria, perfectly suited for those magical morning moments on the dancefloor. Making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Ever Closer' is Danny Lloyd. With a career that spans the better part of two decades, Italian artist Danny Lloyd has etched his own unique place in progressive music history. Long a favourite of Hernan Cattaneo, the Tuscany resident has taken his smooth effortless sound to long standing imprints Asymmetric Recordings, MNL, Movement, Proton Music and more. Known for being choosy in his projects, Danny's first production of 2023 finds the Italian artist making his roku debut with a hypnotic rendition of ‘Ever Closer'. Opting for a timeless approach, the Italian artist creates a distinctive interpretation in his inimitable style; with arpeggiated fragments and airy sonics uniting over a bed of thumping beats and pulsing basslines, casting a spell over the listener across a fluid first movement, before breaking out into a tastefully restrained and deeply meditative finale. The release concludes with Bondarev making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Descending Into Heaven'. Russian artist Bondarev has been a DJ for the better part of two decades, sharing the stage with some of progressive music's most iconic names, while operating as the booking manager for Saint Petersburg's famed WARPP Club. As a producer, Bondarev first emerged in 2017 with a release via Crossings, a project which would lead to key discography credits courtesy of aboriginal, Mango Alley, Proton's Particles and most recently via WARPP's label, where he operates as the A&R. Now, presenting his first remix of 2023, Bondarev debuts on roku with a powerful take on ‘Descending Into Heaven'. Buoyant and energetic across the first movement, Bondarev continues his stylized ways with rippling grooves, flashing percussion and dark stabs creating a prophetic path into the main break. Sitting comfortably in an emotive yet thought provoking space; childlike motifs and sweeping harmonies converge, rising out of calming atmospheres as the interlude evolves, eventually giving way to a thunderous drop and energetic final movement. My birthday is April 5th and my Mum's was on April 9th. This was a close bond we shared when she was alive. So, during the very start of the COVID-19 pandemic I wanted to lift my spirits, and thus my first 'Lost In' Project aired on Thursday 9th April 2020 on Facebook. During the entire lockdown and mixed live on Facebook, before they shut it down, Lost In was reaching 100's of people in their homes and gardens over the 4 and 5-hour-long genre-spanning mixes. The project ran for two and a half years continuing on Mixcloud. 83 mixes in total! This mix is a throwback to those special Thursday evenings mixed live on air with the Lost in Faithful from around the world connecting together online. I'm still full of gratitude for this project and how it reached like-minded, gentle souls who love their electronic music mashed up into a weekly audio journey. The mix was played on 7th April 2022. A legendary figure in the world of art, music and underground dance, Roger Martinez has been a central figure with his kaleidoscopic sound and spiritual influences. Music signed to Lost & Found, Replug and his own Higher States have confirmed this status while July 2020's “Cosmic” was a further notable highlight on Meanwhile. Now returning to GMJ & Matter's imprint, the Roger Martinez remix of “The Chase” is an uptempo offering that draws on his musical influences with a powerful beat and deep bass groove. Using pitched elements from Alex's original, vocal cuts shift in stereo-panned glory and epic white-noise risers and infinite delays create a dense swirling atmosphere. Pausing at the breakdown to introduce additional melodic elements, the track then drops back into its hypnotic groove as new melodic motifs create the aptly titled “Interdimensional Remix”. Clubsonica Records opens the fall season by welcoming Golan Zocher back to the label for a new single. The Colombian born, Israel based artist makes progressive music that breaks boundaries, moves feet and twists minds. Since making his label debut in 2017, Golan has found a comfortable home on Clubsonica, releasing two remixes and a single across two calendar years. Also finding a home on Beatfreak, Or Two Strangers and Proton Music, Golan now lands back on Clubsonica with a new single entitled Ready to Fly', alongside remixes from Navar and Stereo Underground. Beginning with the original mix, it is Golan's masterstroke to collaborate and introduce the sublime vocals of Rona. Hailing from Israel and an artist of profound talent, she injects the piece with authentic soul and emotion, as Golan's warm grooves and impassioned musicality provide the perfect dance floor vehicle. PREMIERE: GMJ - Mood Medicine (Paul Kardos Remix) [Meanwhile Recordings] In October 2020, GMJ released his debut solo EP on the Meanwhile imprint. “Mood Medicine” thus provided a tantalising glimpse into the Australian maestro’s musical soul with three original tracks of the highest order. Returning to the EP, a trio of remixes provides new insight courtesy of Paul Kardos, Sebastian Sellares and fellow label-head, Matter. An artist with a rich array of music to his name, Paul Kardos has seen his work featured on such esteemed imprints as Balkan Connection, Soundteller Records and Darin Epsilon’s Perspectives Digital. Making his Meanwhile debut, the Hungarian artist impresses with a deep and powerful reworking of the title track. Intelligently making use of original components central to GMJ’s original, a glorious new melodic theme flows across “Mood Medicine” in sparkling fashion. Redolent in reverb and delay, sonic textures cascade across the left/right spectrum as new arpeggiated sequences and counterpoint phrases emerge in the third movement. A heavy beat and effervescent percussive groove add further to a powerful statement of intent from the Paul Kardos studio. Fresh from the success of his “Dunes at Dawn” EP on Meanwhile, Sebastian Sellares has been at the vanguard of a fresh and modern progressive house sound since a debut for PHW Elements in 2018. Going on to see his music signed to UV, Or Two Strangers and Proton Music, his “Zen State” EP for the latter was a notable highlight in October 2020. Returning to Meanwhile, the Sebastian Sellares remix of “Precipice” oozes class as the familiar bouncing bassline and central melodic theme of the original envelope the listener. Building with ease, white-noise effects pulsate gently alongside a rolling groove and deep resonant kick as melodic sequences filter into sonic range, highlighted by a stripped back and spine-tingling breakdown. Matty Doyle needs little introduction with his Matter production pseudonym. A regular across the finest underground dance imprints from Cid Inc.’s Replug to Roger Martinez’s Higher States and the renowned Balance Music, the Melbourne resident continues to dine at underground dance music’s top table with an inimitable blend of “deep synth lines, driving bass and pulsating rhythms”. November 2020 saw Matter debut on the Meanwhile imprint with his “Amanita” EP as he now returns to remix his friend, production partner and label co-owner. A returning artist to the Meanwhile catalogues, Imran Khan makes his original EP debut with the label’s twelfth offering, “Horizonz / Push Thru”. An artist who has seen his stock rise at considerable pace after a raft of original releases on Clinique Recordings in late 2016, Imran Khan has gone on to see his music featured on such esteemed imprints as Balkan Connection, Stellar Fountain and Proton Music. A pair of remixes of GMJ & Matter’s “Lost on Origin” marked an impressive Meanwhile opening salvo in October 2020 as the UK star now returns with two sparking new original offerings. Opening with “Horizonz”, a light percussive line sits atop a trademark cone-melting bassline while a heavy kick nestles perfectly in between. Evolving in seamless style, ticking hi-hats add further to the relaxed groove before flowing pads and searing synth line shimmer in reverberated echo chamber manner to create an eerie and haunting atmosphere. A searing analogue lead makes its presence felt at the mid-point before a head-shaking dancefloor collage erupts in the third movement to scintillating effect; the result creating a stunning debut from the UK artist. Continuing the cavernous bassline and deep rhythmic groove narrative, “Push Thru” cuts an intriguing figure as organic staccato sound pans the stereo spectrum in pitched tape delay. Surrounded by an array of innovative spot effects, a muted synth line wends its way over the sonic horizon, gradually rising with open filter and increased release envelope to create a sparkling crescendo jam-packed full of modern progressive house credentials. Reboot on the "Virtual Sessions" 1/28/21   About Reboot -   At an early age, when most kids are discovering video games and girls, German production wizard Frank Heinrich, aka Reboot, was creating tracks on the studio equipment that he purchased with his small savings.   This precocious talent was nurtured by illicit nights out sneaking in to Sven Väth's Omen club in Frankfurt, Germany, where Reboot grew up. Despite Reboot's early indoctrination into tough techno sounds, he draws from a variety musical influences.   As a producer, his approach borrows sounds from all corners of the musical spectrum from classic house, world music, jazz, funk or r&b. Alongside his friends, based around the legendary “Freebase Records” Shop, he spearheaded “the new sound of Frankfurt”. The result is what Reboot calls a “complex polyrhythmic architecture” and what dance floors call “dynamite”.   Reboot has consistently evolved as an artist without ever losing his initial rush of passion that pushed him out of his career in banking and into the arms the of electronic music industry. In a career that has ranged from early collaborations, to his current incarnation as a widely demanded solo artist.
