A global engineering design consultancy with expertise in data centres and complex infrastructure projects is set to create 60 new high-tech engineering jobs in Dublin. Black & White Engineering recently completed the acquisition of Homan O'Brien, one of Ireland's longest-established consulting engineering firms. The deal marks Black & White's first European acquisition and a significant investment in the Irish market. Homan O'Brien traces its roots back more than 65 years through the merger of Robert Jacob and Partners (founded in 1955) and Seamus Homan Associates (founded in 1978). It has built a strong reputation across healthcare, education, laboratories, commercial, residential and industrial sectors, in addition to its expertise in data centres. Simon O'Brien, Country Director, Ireland at Black & White Engineering, said: "We're currently 32 people in Dublin and over the next three years we plan to grow the team to around 90. That's 60 new high-tech engineering jobs and a real investment in Irish talent and skills. For our clients, it means continuity and stability with the same level of service we've always provided, while giving us the scale and support of a global network." The expansion forms a key part of Black & White's European growth strategy, supported by its investment partners Waterland. Choosing Dublin for the company's first European acquisition reflects both the city's importance as a base for multinational clients and the depth of engineering expertise available in Ireland. With Waterland's backing, Black & White is accelerating its international growth and building the scale needed to support clients across increasingly complex global projects. Mick Cairns, CEO and Founder of Black & White Engineering, said: "Dublin is a strategic hub for many of our global clients and having a strong presence here means we can be closer to them while creating significant new opportunities for engineers in Ireland. This is an exciting step in our growth journey, and we're delighted to invest in the future of the Irish engineering sector." Black & White Engineering now operates across more than 18 cities worldwide with a team of over 1,000 people. The company has seen rapid growth in recent years, achieving a 500% increase in size since 2020 and is recognised across industry for its technical excellence, data centre expertise and sustainable design solutions. Steven Horn, Managing Director, Europe at Black & White Engineering, added: "Creating 60 new high-tech engineering roles in Dublin is a major step in building our European capability. These jobs represent real opportunities for talented engineers in Ireland to work on projects that have both a local and international impact. Expanding the team in Dublin also strengthens our ability to support clients across Europe with the depth of expertise and resources they need."
Over an intimate two-course dinner at Montalto, broadcaster and social policy expert Jamila Rizvi and comedian and podcaster Rosie Waterland come together with host Tracee Hutchison for a candid discussion about their deeply personal new book, Broken Brains. Drawing from their own experiences, Rizvi and Waterland reflect on their journeys with illness – Rizvi's rare brain tumour diagnosis and Waterland’s ongoing mental trauma from childhood abuse – and explore the unexpected ways these struggles intersect. Through a rare blend of humour and honesty, they offer solidarity and invaluable insights for anyone who has faced illness or cared for someone who has. Hear from two women who have navigated their own battles and now wish to share the hope, healing and perspective they’ve gained along the way. This event was recorded on Friday 9 May 2025. It was presented in partnership with Montalto. The official bookseller was Farrells. Featured music is 'I See You Out There' by Tellsonic. Please note this recording includes references to suicide.

EuroParcs zit in financiële nood. According to filmmaker and founder of the Identity Development Institute, Stephen Gyllenhaal, “The best instrument in the world is another human being.” In this episode, he and Thomas discuss the importance of resonance to trauma healing. Similar to attunement, resonance involves communication between nervous systems wherein our bodies transmit our pain to others within a safe and open environment. This is also the basis for the Intention Method (IoPT) sessions that changed Stephen's life and inspired him to start training others in this unique methodology. He explains that early traumas make positive change and evolution difficult, and how being present in connection with others has allowed him to experience profound healing. He and Thomas also discuss how the art of cinema is a form of resonance, and the themes of galactic resonance that are explored in his upcoming documentary, The Universe Sings. Key Points: 00:45 Movies as an expression of trauma 06:54 Trauma travels generations 11:24 Healing requires digging at the core 18:45 The human being as an attuned resonator 24:52 Resonance is presence 28:36 Film and TV representations of trauma 37:18 How media creates spaces for conversation 41:46 The way to trauma healing Stephen Gyllenhaal is a film director, poet, and Founding Director of the Identity Development Institute, which aims to grow a community of practitioners, researchers, and educators that integrate trauma in facilitating healthy identities. He is well-known for directing movies, such as “Film Spies” and “Waterland”, and several episodes of hit TV shows, “Numb3rs”, “The Mentalist” and “Twin Peaks.” Sign up for updates by visiting our website:

In this episode, I speak to the legendary Karin Bloemen at her home in Broek in Waterland, The Netherlands. My dear friend Sonja Dippel, who runs One Billion Happy out of The Netherlands, arranged this meeting, and right away I knew I was in the presence of someone possessing extraordinary wisdom. Sonja, in her message to me, defined Karin in one word: "Karin is color." After our conversation, I realized just how true that is, and just how many colors there really are, from the darkest to the brightest, that have come together to form a true human being.Karin is a force of overcoming incredible adversity and finding a path to your personal peace. She is an actress, a singer, an Instagram sensation, and the author of two books. In all arts, and particularly the art of living, I have rarely encountered someone who can do it as well as she has.Unfortunately, this week's episode discusses repeated incidents of sexual abuse that she and women around her have suffered. The goal of that aspect of this discussion is to inform and discuss how we can put an end to this heinously ugly side of humanity once and for all and support all victims, past and present. Remember, you are not alone, and help is out there and very willing to engage with you.Listen as we discuss:Why fame isn't a big deal after all. What's the secret to a happy marriage? (Karin is married 30 years to her best friend.)How Karin raised the son of her sister, who died in a fire with two of her children. The extraordinary challenge of being a mother as a sexual assault victim.Karin's top parenting tip? Let teenagers be teenagers, but have zero tolerance for lying. The story of Karin's sexual abuse at the hands of her stepfather. How can we stop sexual abuse and support the victims? What is the dynamic that leads men to sexually assault a child?Understanding intimacy versus perversion.Living for moments, not targets, and taking on the ego. When are you actually being you?Incorporating fire, water, air, and earth into performance.Karin's top tip for happiness: cherish what is and stay out of the waiting room.YouTube: @mogawdatofficial (link to this episode: youtu.be/KdVNYZhktYM)Instagram: @mo_gawdatFacebook: @mo.gawdat.officialTwitter: @mgawdatLinkedIn: /in/mogawdatWebsite: mogawdat.comConnect with Karin Bloemen on Instagram @karin_bloemen, Facebook @BloemenKarin, and Twitter @bloemenkarinDon't forget to subscribe to Slo Mo for new episodes every Sunday. This was an intense one for me. Stephen offered to do a “session” with me that quickly became very intense and powerful. I've experienced this on a few occasions as I've done the podcast. One time it was with Gabor Mate, and another time it was with Richard Schwartz. This experience for me was very timely, and thought provoking. I hope you enjoy it.Stephen Gyllenhaal is the founder of the Identity Development Institute whose mission is to grow a community of practitioners, researchers, and educators who are Early Trauma-informed across North America.Wounds from conception through pre-verbal development are a major cause of life-long challenges. Getting to the core of the matter allows these Early Traumas to be processed and opens space for each of us to live with more authenticity, power, and creativity.Stephen trained with Dr. Franz Ruppert and Marta Thorsheim in Oslo and Munich and facilitates ID sessions in North America as well as trains ID facilitators based on the IoPT method. He is a proud father and grandfather. For over 50 years Stephen has pursued two careers: 1) as an award-winning director of over 60 films and TV shows, including Losing Isaiah, Waterland, Homegrown, Twin Peaks, Rectify, Billions and Bosch; 2) as a “professional patient,” trying to gain clarity about his own personal issues through some form of therapy, analysis or 12 Step Program, including Cognitive Behavioral, Alderian, Attachment, Gestalt, Integrative, Jungian, Marriage and Family, Freudian and Kleinian Psychoanalysis, MPD (DID), Alanon, ACoA, SLAA and DA.He holds a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and sees himself as a fellow traveler with whomever shares the iD process with him, in either groups or in private sessions. He has come to understand that the iD process is the most powerful psychological tool he has had the privilege to encounter and is committed to making it available to everyone in North America no matter their life circumstance or personal issues. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5739761/advertisement
How much waste do we really create? Can we live in modern society in a concious manner? How do we tackle consumerism and climate grief? Laura in Waterland used to be a shoppaholic. Could you believe that? I hardly could. After some soul searching and research, she transformed her view of materialism to become a concious consumer. Now she is a driver of change and an ocean activist that reminds us every day, that little things when combined can make a difference. In this episode, we catch up with Laura (she was on episode 8) and what she has been working on for the past few years.
Conyers Middleton wrote three rebuttals to Waterland and Tindal. He took a middle ground approach critiquing both Tindal's optimism about a pure rule of natural law in the past and Waterland's insistence on special revelation as necessary for the incomplete revelation of natural law.
(A Ben & Tom episode - prepare for bone dry humour and challenges to the absurd.) With being all at sea with what episode to do this week, A listener and old Halo acquaintance Staneth Qulisy gave me direction and supplied me with a list, including Stargate and 10,000 BC. So, as I owed him a favour after the Judge Dredd shafting, we lubricated the guiles, webbed the feet, put on our lucky shell earring, and set sail for Waterland! Waterworld! The Go-to for all your wants and needs in the late 80s and early 90s - Kevin Costner had the solution. From giving Al Capone the boot to hitting homers (more than once) you want to know who killed JFK?... ask Kev. Are you dancing with wolves? Is that a thing? It is now, A bodyguard to the stars, and finally, Mr Costner even found time to become your post-apocalyptic postie; what did you do today? So when everyone was demanding the world needed a big-budgeted Mad Max rip-off at sea, who do you think the people ordered to take up the mantle of 'The Mariner'? Next stupid question. Accompanying Kev in the wet world is a leather-faced looking Dennis Hopper, who himself was coming off quite the diverse run of films. So here we find Den speeding around, barking orders at his brother in arms, Hulk Hogan, all whilst maintaining a 40 a day smoking habit. Mama Mia!
