Trade Union Solidarity says FlySafair could have averted the cancellation of numerous flights today if the airline had come to the negotiating table this past weekend. The union says the strike which was initially planned for only one day has been extended to 14-days after FlySafair decided to lock out the striking pilots for an extended period. Solidarity has rejected FlySafair's 5.7% offer and is demanding ten-point-five percent for the 2025-26 financial year.

The challenges to Tiffany Henyard's control in the South Suburbs are escalating yet again. Two Thornton Township trustees said they will skip Tuesday night's board meeting because Supervisor Henyard failed to provide adequate answers about spending. Trustees opposed to Henyard said skipping the meeting will prevent votes on Henyard's agenda items. The opponents also said they hope it could force a public vote to appoint a new trustee.

The Belmont is tomorrow and there's still a chance it could get canceled if the air quality is terrible.
