The Rickey Smiley Morning Show dug deep into four headline-making stories: Kim Kardashian has launched a defamation lawsuit against Ray J over his assertions that she and Kris Jenner are under federal investigation for racketeering—a claim her team strongly denies and calls entirely baseless. Meanwhile, media mogul Cathy Hughes celebrated 45 years of building Urban One from her radio-station roots into a powerhouse reaching over 80% of Black households. In a lighter, yet equally compelling segment, legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis joined the show to reflect on their multi-decade careers shaping R&B and pop, teasing projects and sharing studio stories most fans haven’t heard. And on the national front, President Trump has formally declared a “non-international armed conflict” with drug cartels, justifying recent lethal strikes on alleged narco-vessels in the Caribbean under the law of armed conflict. Donald Trump has declared a war on drug cartels. He's wielded the flow of narcotics, namely fentanyl, into the U.S. as one of the major reasons behind aspects of his global trade war. He's added a number of cartels to the foreign terrorist organisations list. And last month, the Trump administration stepped things up by quietly signing a Pentagon directive to allow the use of military force against drug cartels. That led to a U.S. drone strike on a Venezuelan boat on international waters, killing all 11 on board. Now, the possibility of more attacks hangs over Venezuela and Mexico, another target of Trump's cartel war. Alexander Aviña, an associate professor of Latin American history at Arizona State University joins us to talk about the impact of these recent escalations and what history tell us about how effective drug wars really are..For transcripts of Front Burner, please visit: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/frontburner/transcripts

But when his life took a shocking turn that pulled him into the world of a drug cartel and ultimately landed him in federal prison, many assumed that would be the end of his story. Instead, it became the beginning of a powerful journey of redemption.Through moments that read like fiction—backyard fight clubs, wild animals in sermons, and life-altering choices—Bishop discovered that failure does not have to be final. His HarperCollins book The Church of Living Dangerously captures that hard-won truth, and soon Hollywood star Christian Bale will bring this story of resilience to the big screen. The transcript claims that the Democrat Party is actively undergoing a Marxist revolution, mirroring the Chinese Communist Party, and that this ideology is at the core of policies such as the Asheville reparations plan. The speaker also discusses how President Trump is fighting back by blowing up drug boats and stopping the human trafficking and drug flow that is allegedly being facilitated by Democrats and the Chinese government. The host presents evidence of Chinese money laundering for cartels and claims that Chinese nationals are influencing U.S. elections in major cities like New York. The segment concludes with a discussion of the UK's authoritarian turn, highlighting the arrest of a comedian for his tweets, and a warning that the same could happen to Americans abroad.

Talk Back to MeAt its core, Ghost Recon Wildlands is a game about Insurgency. You, the player, engage in various forms of Unconventional Warfare, on a mission to take down a Drug Cartel set in a Fictional Bolivia. The Success of Wildlands rushed a sequel: Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Despite being set up for success, Breakpoint bombed, leaving the players that loved Wildlands disappointed and distrusting of the developers. This Ghost Recon Wildlands review covers 5 points of comparison between it and its sequel: Narrative, Interactions, Allies, Enemies, and Gameplay. Critics of Breakpoint often focus on predatory microtransactions which do come play. However, the failure of Breakpoint runs deeper. Not only does the mechanism of the game struggle to keep the player engaged, the content departs from the subtle hat tip of Wildlands, replacing the player with a hammer-looking-for-nails pawn of generically forgettable non-playable characters. Use Code 2025deaddrop10 for 10% off your order at obsidianarms.comThis episode has been sponsored by Obsidian Arms, a manufacturer of tools, parts and firearms, as well as operating as an OEM shop for those looking to bring excellence to the market. 1. Federal Control of D.C. Police Trump invoked Section 740 of the D.C. Home Rule Act to place the D.C. police under federal control. He declared a public safety emergency, citing high crime rates including murder, carjackings, and assaults. Additional measures included: Reassigning FBI agents to nighttime patrols. Deploying the National Guard. Appointing a federal commissioner for the D.C. police. 2. Legal Justification The podcast outlines constitutional and statutory authority for Trump’s actions: Article I, Section 8, Clause 17 of the U.S. Constitution. D.C. Code Section 49-49 and the 1973 Home Rule Act. Reference to Posse Comitatus Act and DOJ opinions that D.C. is legally distinct from other cities. 3. Criticism of Democrats and Media Hosts argue that Democrats and mainstream media are unfairly criticizing Trump’s actions. They claim Democrats oppose law enforcement and support policies that increase crime (e.g., no cash bail). The podcast accuses the media of misrepresenting Trump’s actions as dictatorial. 4. Military Action Against Drug Cartels Trump reportedly authorized military force against cartels like MS-13 and Cartel de los Soles. The move is compared to Plan Colombia, a U.S. military initiative under President George W. Bush. The podcast suggests this could be a turning point in combating drug-related violence and trafficking. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now.
