When Donald Trump won the election, many Democrats across the country were left asking themselves, what went wrong? Was it the candidate and the lack of a proper primary? Did their message about the fate of democracy not resonate with Americans? Or was it the fact that many see a drastic change as the only way to solve inflation? Robert Mann is a former professor at LSU's Manship School of mass communication who also served as a press secretary for multiple democratic campaigns and the communications director for the Louisiana Democratic Party. He joins us to discuss where Democrats went wrong, and where they go from here.New Orleanians have strong feelings when it comes to public education. After Hurricane Katrina, the state took over most of the city's schools and turned them into charter schools. Today, the city has just one direct-run school, and there's no other system like it in the country. For 15 years, the Cowen Institute at Tulane University has been asking parents what they think about public education in New Orleans. WWNO and WRKF's education reporter Aubri Juasz speaks with the institute's policy director, Vincent Rossmeier, about this year's results.___Today's episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Alana Schreiber. We are joined today by communications expert Nathan Click of Click Strategies. Click serves as a political advisor to Gov. Gavin Newsom and led communications efforts in the Governor's successful campaign against the Recall; he is also active in ballot campaigns. He has previously served as the governor's Communications Director, worked on Sen. Hirono's staff in DC and on then-Attorney General Kamala Harris' campaign for US Senate. With last week's announcement that journalist Bob Salladay would be replacing Anthony York as Gov. Newsom's Communications Director, we thought it was a great time to ask Click about what the job is like- and about the difference between the Comms Director and Press Secretary. Click is working for US Rep. Katie Porter in her run for US Senate, and shared his thoughts on that race, the effect of the early primary, and weighed in on Initiatives that are likely to be on November's ballot, including a repeal of Prop. 8. Plain and simple, one of the best ways to grow a startup is to get the people talking — literally. That's what ultra-fast growing startup Electric.ai has done incredibly well. Through telling the stories of their customers, users, and even their own employees, they've managed to create a groundswell around their product that makes new customers, new users, and new users want to become part of their ecosystem.
