UPCOMING EVENT: Access Louisville Live presented by Baird. Be on hand for a live recording of the Access Louisville podcast April 22. Details and registration here.A new pizza joint, a French Bistro and the latest on the brewing scene. All of the above are topics on this week's Access Louisville podcast. LBF Restaurant reporter Michael L. Jones is on the show to tell us about a new St. Matthews Pizza joint, Pizza Jones (no relation.) Pizza Jones will be located at 126 Breckenridge Lane, next to the China 1 restaurant, and is scheduled to open in early May. Gene Stein, co-owner of Pizza Jones, is the former co-owner of the defunct Pizza Guy brand, which closed nearly two decades ago.Jones also tells us about French bistro M. Peppers, which opened at 1306 Bardstown Road, inside the Bellwether Hotel, opened Tuesday, April 15. It comes from the team behind bar Vetti inside NuLu's AC Hotel. The ownership group includes chef Andrew McCabe and restaurateur Ryan Rogers, co-owner of Feast BBQ and Royals Hot Chicken. We also chat about Mashup Food Hall landing its first restaurant, the closure of the Oddbird Cafe in the Highlands and the latest trends in craft beer brewing. Brewing is still a growing business (despite troubles experienced lately by Louisville brewers) though it's not growing as fast as it was pre-pandemic, as our data showed. After the restaurant talk, we chat about music festivals — including the news that Danny Wimmer Presents, the promotor behind Bourbon & Beyond and Louder than Life, has committed to Louisville for the next 10 years. Bourbon & Beyond and Louder Than Life generated more than $33 million in local economic impact in 2024 and drew more than 300,000 attendees, booking over 60,000 hotel room nights, as Jones reported. We also chat about the recently announced lineup of The Big Stomp festival, which you can find here. Access Louisville, sponsored by Baird, is a weekly podcast from Louisville Business First. It's available on popular podcast services including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

All the links you need https://linktr.ee/TheMikeyPodcast In this episode of the Mikey Podcast, I'm comparing Aftershock and GoldenSky, two massive festivals in Sacramento. I break down the differences between the festivals' atmospheres, crowds, food options, and how the festivals cater to fans. Aftershock is a beast of a rock festival, delivering chaotic energy, epic performances, and a chill VIP experience. Meanwhile, GoldenSky feels more like a fashion show, where attendees are more concerned with their Instagram shots than the music. Both festivals are produced by Danny Wimmer Presents, but they couldn't be more different. I'll share my thoughts on what makes each festival unique, which one I think reigns supreme, and how both could better embrace their local Sacramento roots. Intro: Recap of Aftershock and GoldenSky weekends Festival Rundown: What's Aftershock? What's GoldenSky? How do they compare? Crowd Differences: Metalheads vs. country fans—who's more respectful? Food & Drink: Aftershock's food trucks vs. GoldenSky's legit bars VIP Experiences: Aftershock's chill VIP vs. GoldenSky's crowded fashion parade Local Connection: GoldenSky's embrace of Sacramento vs. Aftershock's disconnect Funny Moments: Festival madness, blanket drama, and porta-potty proximity issues Final Thoughts: Why Aftershock wins, what GoldenSky does better, and how both could improve Closing: Thanks to Danny Wimmer Presents and a preview of what's next on the Mikey Podcast #TheMikeyPodcast #AftershockFestival #GoldenSkyFestival #FestivalComparison #Sacramento #DannyWimmerPresents #RockFestival #CountryMusic #FestivalVibes #AftershockVsGoldenSky #VIPExperience #SacramentoMusicScene #MoshPits #CountryFashionShow #MetalMayhem #FestivalFood #PodcastLife #RockOn #QuestionEverything

On the motivational front, I discuss the issue of worry, and then, in true Pipe Peaves fashion, I rant about the misuse of modern communication. We then segue into personal anecdotes about hitchhiking and its perceived safety in different eras and locations. Shifting gears, I candidly share some personal quirks and shortcomings, inviting my co-host to do the same in a light-hearted exchange. Finally, I humorously reflect on my unsuccessful attempts to start an OnlyFans account and my past bids for the U.S. presidency, suggesting that the process for the former seems more stringent than for the latter.(0:17:25) - Persistence and Positive Thinking (15 Minutes)This chapter kicks off with the story of Habib, an aspiring salesman learning from the world's best by working a year without pay, highlighting the value of determination and the lengths successful individuals like Bezos and Musk have gone to achieve their dreams. I emphasize the importance of mindset, hard work, and the willingness to persist against odds, drawing parallels to Metallica's rise to fame and the resilience of icons like Ray Kroc and Colonel Sanders. We explore the transformative power of habits through the reading of ancient scrolls that reprogram the mind, advocating for persistence and positive thinking as crucial tools for success, while also challenging the reliance on pharmaceuticals and negative thinking. The key takeaway is that true achievement requires a relentless pursuit and a proactive approach to personal development and growth.(0:32:32) - Slayer Reunion and Concert Talk (12 Minutes)This chapter kicks off with a candid conversation about personal experiences and preferences, quickly transitioning into a discussion on the anticipated return of Slayer to the live music scene. We address the skepticism and complaints from fans about band reunions post-COVID, emphasizing the grueling nature of touring and why bands like Slayer deserve a break and the chance to come back. We celebrate the surprise news of their upcoming performances at major festivals like Louder Than Life and Riot Fest. Amidst the excitement, there's a playful banter with my co-hosts, Rebel and Rachel, as we touch on personal anecdotes, hair stories, and the significant impact Slayer had on merging metalheads and punks. The conversation is lighthearted yet packed with anticipation for the band's return, demonstrating our passion for music and the unexpected twists in the rock scene.(0:11:17) - Sibling Rivalry and Virginity Loss (16 Minutes)This chapter kicks off with an electric start as we celebrate the announcement of Slayer headlining Lie it Fast, part of the Pipeman Radio Tour, which has us absolutely thrilled. We then segue into a humorous bet between Rachel and me, involving an outlandish challenge and a trip to Costa Rica. The conversation takes a turn to the lighter side with a banter about the peculiarities of attending yoga classes as a guy and the dietary mishaps involving chia seeds. Finally, we share personal anecdotes about our hair transformations – my unexpected journey from straight to curly hair, and a childhood story of enduring multiple perms, which led to some rather orange and unfortunate results. We explore individual attitudes towards self-satisfaction and the importance of having others for certain needs, juxtaposed with the concept of self-reliance in pleasure and how it can lead to contentment and more time for hobbies like playing Madden football. Attention and public displays of affection (PDA) are discussed, highlighting varying comfort levels with being touched and the dynamics of claiming one's partner in public. Personal erogenous zones are touched upon, revealing differing sensitivities and the impact of the individual involved. The conversation veers into the realm of age and appearance, as well as unconventional relationship dynamics, like the mommy/baby role-play scenario, stressing the importance of consent and age-appropriate behavior.(0:37:02) - Super Bowl, Politics, and Jealousy (17 Minutes)This chapter kicks off with a celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl victory and the brilliance of Patrick Mahomes, despite my personal allegiance to the Giants. I tackle the issue of Thursday night NFL games and the discontent some, like Mahomes, express towards them. We then shift to a darker topic, discussing the unfortunate shooting at the Chiefs' victory parade, highlighting a pervasive problem in our society. I passionately defend the wealthy and famous, specifically Taylor Swift, against the jealousy and criticism they face, underscoring her charitable actions and the unfair scrutiny of her personal life. In a fiery conclusion, I express my disdain for the current political climate and jokingly propose my own presidential run, capped off with a humorous nod to former President Bill Clinton's infamous scandal.Follow @pipemanradio on all social media outlets Visit Pipeman Radio on the Web at linktr.ee/pipemanradio , theadventuresofpipeman.com, pipemanradio.com, talk4media.com, w4cy.com, talk4tv.com, talk4podcasting.com. We had the pleasure of interviewing Archetypes Collide over Zoom video! To celebrate this exciting partnership, the band has shared the video for the new song "Undertow."."The song leans on the idea of letting past failures and regrets paralyze us from moving out of our comfort zones," the band says. "It also emphasizes the deceptive comfort of playing life safe and not pushing boundaries, which can ultimately lead to an unfulfilled life. In the video, during the chorus, you get an 'above water/aerial' view of the conflict, whereas the verses and breakdown offer an 'in the rough waters' view."About joining forces with Fearless, the band states, "We're beyond stoked to be able to take our music to the next level. The family over at Fearless is 'all in' on our vision and it's a dream come true. We've spent countless hours and years building Archetypes Collide into what it is today and to have the opportunity to inject that sound with the passion and experience Fearless has is a game changer for us."Arizona quintet Archetypes Collide — Kyle (vocals), Tyler (drums), Brandon (guitar), Jared (guitar), and Ky (bass) — have been grinding and building a name for themselves since 2014. They've released two EPs, a handful of singles and covers, and set out on tour to get their road legs under them as live performers. Archetypes Collide eventually captured the attention of Beartooth's Oshie Bichar, who began working with the band in the studio and helping to shape their sound. Very quickly thereafter, Archetypes Collide began to enjoy extensive support on SiriusXM's Octane channel, with airplay of several singles: "Your Misery," "Becoming What I Hate," and "Above It All." Bichar was then approached by accomplished veteran manager Thomas Gutches (Beartooth), about forming a representation team, and in early 2022, Fearless Records signed the band to a worldwide record deal. A tour with The Amity Affliction and soon followed, and the band also secured placement on the major Danny Wimmer Presents festival, Welcome to Rockville. Archetypes Collide's debut album for Fearless will arrive this summer, and not a moment too soon! The band released the new single "Undertow" ahead of the release to offer a taste of what's to come!We want to hear from you! This week we have the wonderful Amanda Phelan on the bus! Amanda comes to us from Danny Wimmer Presents - where she is the Director of Talent. Lately I have been noticing a lot of misinformation out there on what actually goes into making a festival happen. Now I do not know what it takes to put on a festival - because I have never done it. Danny Wimmer Presents puts on eight different festivals all over the USA every year. Aftershock, Louder Than Life & Hometown Rising to name a few. I have had the pleasure of attending some of them when I was on tour with A Day To Remember - and damnit, they were a blast. I hope you enjoy this week's episode with Amanda - it was an absolute pleasure to get to speak with her and learn from her for an hour. In this episode of the Don't Shit On The Bus podcast we will learn: • How a festival is created from start to show day • How Amanda helps create festivals for Danny Wimmer Presents • The misconceptions of When We Were Young Festival • How promoters pick which artist will perform at a festival (00:00) Intro (02:05) Patreon (03:02) Amanda gets on the bus (06:34) What it's like working at Danny Wimmer Presents (10:21) Amanda's path into the music industry (15:06) Danny Wimmer Presents Festivals (17:27) How a festival is created (25:48) How talent is booked for festivals (32:35) What determines the lineup order? (35:32) Announcing a festival (40:33) What happens on a festival show day (44:27) How to work for a festival (47:47) When We Were Young Festival (55:58) Wrap up notes --- Amanda Phelan - Guest ► Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thelittleamanda ► LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/amanda-phelan ► Danny Wimmer Presents: https://dannywimmerpresents.com --- Don't Shit On The Bus Podcast ► Website: http://www.dontshitonthebus.com ► Spotify: http://bit.ly/DSotBspotify ► Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/DSotBapple ► TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dontshitonthebus ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/DSotBpodcast ► Instagram: https://instagram.com/DSotBpodcast ► Facebook: https://facebook.com/DSotBpodcast ► Patreon: https://patreon.com/DSotB --- Adam Elmakias - Host ► Twitter: https://twitter.com/elmakias ► Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/elmakias ► Website: https://www.adamelmakias.com --- Edited & Produced by Connor Gaskey
