Female artists have long employed collage to reflect the ways in which identity is often constructed from conflicting, contrasting and contradictory parts. Cut Out: A Feminist History of Photo Collage, Montage and Assemblage (Thames & Hudson and V&A Publishing, 2026) by Fiona Rogers explores the relationship between photography and feminist collage, foregrounding the use of femmage—a radical reclaiming of craft traditionally associated with women—as a resilient method within feminist and political art. Cut Out presents an expanded definition of collage and cutting techniques to encompass photomontage, assemblage and the photogram. Tracing a lineage from nineteenth-century makers to contemporary practitioners, we encounter Victorian album makers; Modernist, Surrealist and Dadaist innovators; and radical, second-wave feminist artists. Thematic sections include profiles written by expert contributors on key individuals, including Hannah Höch, Dora Maar and Lorna Simpson. Looking to the future as much as the past, Cut Out also reveals how the pioneering work of contemporary and digital artists continues to subvert dominant narratives and foster ever-expanding forms of photographic collage. At a moment when photography and its history are being actively contested and reappraised, Cut Out is a reminder of its political power. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Karen Holt didn't realize her childhood was anything other than normal, whether it was her father's absence every Monday to Friday; their odd moves from town to town without any warning; the FBI arresting her father; visiting a mafioso on his ranch; or even visiting her father in his ‘country club' prison. As she became an adult, she realized her father, Chauncey Marvin Holt worked not just as an accountant, circus performer, or painter, but also for the CIA; he had curiously prominent friends; and also did work for the mafia. As he neared the end of his life, her father told her much of what he was involved in during her childhood, including his being at Dealey Plaza the day JFK was assassinated. In fact, Holt was pictured in Life Magazine as one of the three hobos detained as witnesses.Karen shares her recollections, and how she made peace with her father's outrageous life, as he describes it in his memoir “Self-Portrait of a Scoundrel.”Heroes Behind HeadlinesExecutive Producer Ralph PezzulloProduced & Engineered by Mike DawsonMusic provided by ExtremeMusic.com

President Trump kicks the can on the Iran ceasefire, and Iran answers by grabbing two more ships in the Strait of Hormuz while firing on a third. EIA prints a surprise crude draw — 1.9 million barrels pulled when the street was looking for a 2.2 million barrel build — and diesel is sitting at $5.511 at the pump with WTI riding $91–$92. Meanwhile the cattle board has printed five straight red days, June live at $242.875, even as cash holds $248 and boxed beef stays inverted with Select still a buck over Choice. On today's Friggin' Farm & Ranch Report for Wednesday, April 22, 2026, we walk through: • Why live cattle is correcting on paper while the country trade and the cutout refuse to blink. • What a 4.1 million barrel bullish swing in one EIA print means for your diesel contract and fertilizer bill. • How Superior Livestock just sold a record 57,077 head and why 750-pound steers at $408 and 500-pound calves at $552.50 do not look like a "market top" in the country. • The war reel out of Hormuz, what "operationally closed" really means when Iran controls 20% of global crude flow, and how many seized ships it takes to put WTI at $95–$100. • DTN's latest fertilizer board — anhydrous back over $1,000, urea up 34% month over month — plus why every major input on your balance sheet runs through somebody else's choke point. • Rural Americana: five stories that'll make you feel better about the next generation, and three gut punches from rural hospitals, drought, and school consolidation. • Policy and macro: Farm Bill clock, DOJ packer probe, HPAI in dairy, screwworm watch, USMCA review, Trump–Xi summit, H-2A wages, and why nobody is cutting your operating note rate anytime soon. Tone calls to close it out: • Cattle board — bearish near term, oversold and due a snap-back if cash holds. • Cash cattle — firm. • Cutout — bullish, with broad-based beef demand. • Corn — bullish bias. Beans — neutral. Wheat — bullish on KC drought. • Crude and diesel — bullish, lock in if you haven't. • Gold and silver — bullish, fear trade and industrial bid both on. Lock your diesel, watch packer bids like a hawk, track the ship count in Hormuz — and remember, it's a "don't screw up" market, not a "get rich" market. Move your ass, we're burnin' daylight. When Sergio Cilli https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1826186/ made his first AI film, it really didn't get noticed. And neither did many others he made. Sure they were good. But what got noticed more was the one video he made, which showed why AI isn't quite and why it's not yet the monster filmmakers fear.Sergio joins Kristyna Archer https://www.archer.vision/ to talk about making AI films. What works, what doesn't, and how filmmakers can be ready for what comes next.Matt and Oren dive into how much it costs, where commercial budgets might be headed, and how AI will be adopted into filmmaking and commercials. And Sergio and Kristyna bring two different perspectives.Kristyna is an Adobe Firefly, an AI ambassador for Adobe, and has a background working with LED volume walls, Unreal Engine, and generally skews to the tech side of things. Sergio came from fear. It was only after his wife encouraged him to experiment that he discovered his desire to explore AI and filmmaking. This is a conversation about AI that tackles the elephant in the room from a variety of perspectives from working commercial directors. And it's not just talk, it's commercial directors who've actually explored the tools and put out some stuff – that if it wasn't impressive, it could cast a shadow on their directing careers. Or as Oren's friend likes to say, it tackles the “elephant that AI'nt in the room”.See Sergio's AI Audition video at https://youtu.be/AEbqJj2hIjgAnd find Sergio and Kristyna on Instagram @sergiocilli and @archerstudioooooo---Help our Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/JustShootItPodMatt's Endorsement: MoldQuestVHS on Instagram @moldquestvhsOren's Endorsement: The Pitt on HBO and the video "Beat Any Escape Room- 10 proven tricks and tips" from Mark Rober https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwgaTYOx0RISergio's Endorsement: "Extraordinary Things to Cutout and Collage", the book. https://www.mariarivans.com/extraordinary-things-to-cut-out-and-collage and Four Sigmatic Mushroom Coffee https://us.foursigmatic.com/products/original-mushroom-coffeeKristyna's Endorsement: The Wonder App has a great community of artists, producers, conversation and more, https://app.wonderstudios.com/ And also the Endel App https://endel.io/ for people with ADHD.
