The story is told about a preacher who was asked to preach the funeral for a stranger in the country. He agreed to do so but got lost on the way. As he was driving along a country road, he saw what appeared to be the workmen shoveling the final clods of dirt onto the man's grave. Not knowing what else to do, the preacher stopped his car and walked toward the men. He apologized to the workmen for being late, but kept his promise to preach the funeral, nonetheless. He read the Bible, preached his sermon, and finally prayed. Then, after shaking hands with the workmen, he got into his car and drove away. The workmen watched as the preacher's car disappeared over the top of the hill. Then one said to the other. "I've been to a lot of funerals in my day. But that's the first funeral service I've ever heard preached for the burial of a septic tank." While we can smile about that preacher's mistake, funerals are usually very difficult for the family. The loss of a loved one is often accompanied by lots of tears because of the good memories of the person who has died. We often say that the only good part of a funeral is being able to see friends and relatives whom we haven't seen for a long time. In our passage today, we will see that a close friend of Jesus got sick and eventually died. By the time Jesus and His disciples arrived, the man had been buried for four days. But the family was still grieving the loss. What would Jesus do to comfort the family?

"Working one hour extra per day doesn't feel as a big burden, but you get a whole day off every week, all year long," he explains. The response from clients has been overwhelmingly positive, and the retention impact has been real. For Andrew himself, it has gradually freed up his Fridays too — without the guilt of stepping away while his team is still at their desks. Catching Scope Creep Before It Costs You Andrew's approach to scope creep starts with the team: coach them to flag anything that feels different from the usual work, then back it up with time tracking so the numbers tell the story. Rather than hitting a client with a hard "that's out of scope," his firm offers two paths — "we can show you how to do it yourself, or we can have a conversation about a monthly increase to accommodate this." That framing keeps the conversation collaborative, not combative, and gets results either way. Partnerships and Referrals as a Growth Engine Seguin Financial grew from around a million dollars to double that in roughly 2.5 years — without meaningful advertising spend. The fuel? Strategic partnerships with fractional CFOs, outreach to franchise head offices, and a deliberate focus on asking the firm's best clients for referrals. "Our easiest client to take on is a referral," Andrew says, "because they've done probably so much work behind the scenes that at that point it's almost inevitable that they're going to become a client." Referrals arrive pre-sold — and they rarely price-shop. Service Is What Clients Can Actually See Andrew draws a clear line between quality of work and quality of service — and argues that for most clients, only one of those is visible. "Business owners are probably not going to always look at our reports. They might not really care a lot about the quality of the work. But the service they can see." Being responsive — not available at 8 PM, but back within 24 hours with an action plan — has moved Seguin Financial into a different tier in the eyes of their clients and made referrals far more frequent. Start With Something, Then Let the Data Lead Andrew's parting advice is straightforward: start tracking, even if it's just two spreadsheets. "Without time tracking, you're blind. You're honestly blind to which clients are doing very well for you and doing pretty poorly for you." He reviews his firm's analytics every month, makes a video for the team, calls out wins, and flags what to watch. That monthly discipline is what keeps the firm's profitability from quietly eroding — and what surfaces the clients worth doubling down on. In Episode 167 of The Intentional Clinician podcast, Paul Krauss MA LPC interviews child psychiatrist Dr. Frank Putnam, MD about his groundbreaking assertion that prevention of child maltreatment is the single most powerful way to improve the mental and physical health of our nation. The conversation likely explores Dr. Putnam's decades of research through the Female Growth and Development Study (FGDS), which has followed sexual abuse survivors for over 35 years and revealed that childhood sexual abuse causes accelerated biological aging, increasing the risk for early onset of physical and mental conditions usually associated with late life. Trickett, a longitudinal study that has followed female incest victims and comparison groups across three generations for over 35 years. FBI Director Kash Patel reportedly said publicly that the bureau was locked out of the Nancy Guthrie investigation during the most critical window. The Pima County Sheriff's Office disputes that characterization. What isn't disputed is that four days passed — and retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer says digital evidence, biological material, and witness memory all degrade fastest in exactly that window. The alleged delay may have cost this case evidence it can never recover.Coffindaffer and behavioral analysis chief Robin Dreeke join Tony Brueski to examine the full behavioral picture once you strip away the noise. The ransom notes went to media outlets, not the family — a detail that signals opportunistic fraud, not an operational kidnapper communicating with leverage. The Bitcoin demands were reportedly never followed through. The person on Nancy's porch allegedly tried to hide the doorbell camera using foliage ripped from her own yard and wore a visor and gloves that allegedly didn't fit properly. Coffindaffer says the behavior looks like improvisation dressed up as planning.Robin raises the motive question the public hasn't resolved. Nancy Guthrie is 84 years old, medically vulnerable, and requires medication. She is not a rational target for a ransom operation. Was this allegedly about money? About Savannah Guthrie? About something else entirely? It's practiced, not instinctive. 7. Scanxiety Is Real, Incurable, and Changes Over Time What helped before may stop helping. Survivors need to plan for this, not be surprised by it. 8. The Financial Reckoning Comes Long After Treatment Ends Medical bills stay higher forever. Many are negotiable. Some are illegal. Own the advocacy, ask the questions, build the spreadsheet. 9. Write It Down — In Whatever Form Works for You Adam used Super Whisper before and after every treatment. Geoffrey wrote a book 14 years later. The form doesn't matter. Externalizing the experience gives you a time capsule you can go back to. 10. Are You Getting the Support You Need? Just the honest, periodic question. What you went through is not nothing — and the work doesn't end at remission. 11. You Are Different Now — Not Better or Worse. Different. Not better, not worse. Fundamentally changed in ways that can't be fully accounted for. That difference isn't a loss. The work is learning to live in the new timeline.
