Around 2018, we all heard about deepfakes and how the face-swapping technology was blurring the lines of reality. But deepfakes can also be fun. Dozens of apps in your app store promise to put your face onto an animated GIF or video. Here are some of the best: Reface, Wombo and MyHeritage. Reface was released in February last year and has been wildly popular. The app lets you easily swap your face into videos and GIFs. Using it is as easy as taking a selfie. The app recognizes facial expressions, so even if you're grinning, it will guess what your neutral face looks like. Then you choose a short video or GIF. Wait a few seconds, and you'll see your face on SpiderMan, Bruce Lee or Kate Winslet in that scene from Titanic — Reface has a library of hundreds of short clips. The end result can be hit or miss — a lot depends on your face shape — but the hits are surprisingly lifelike. Wombo does a similar thing, but for short clips from a small selection of pop songs. Somehow, it's more addictive — maybe because the songs are so catchy. Deepfake apps aren't just about fun. MyHeritage is a service that helps people trace their family tree. Its app has a “Deep Nostalgia” feature that animates family photos using deepfake technology. Upload a photo of a grandparent and watch them come to life. Its website has examples of famous people, including Mark Twain and Florence Nightingale. As you watch, the photo subject turns their head and looks off-camera. The videos made by the apps can seem a little creepy, but they show that deepfake tech can be fun. Reface, Wombo and MyHeritage are all available for iPhones and Android phones. Wombo AI es lo último en apps virales de deepfakes: Elon Musk y Donald Trump también pueden cantar temazos El éxito de Deep Nostalgia es otra prueba más de lo mucho que nos gusta ver qué es capaz de hacer la inteligencia artificial con nuestras fotos, y ahora ha aparecido una nueva aplicación móvil viral llamada Wombo AI (o Wombo, a secas) que está convirtiéndose en un éxito arrollador con un tono mucho más desenfadado. Lo que hace esta aplicación es coger una foto cualquiera y lograr que la persona o personaje de esa foto cante canciones famosas con una sincronización de labios y gestos que sin ser perfecta es convincente y, sobre todo, muy divertida. Como se puede ver, la inteligencia artificial a este tipo de propósitos tiene aplicaciones llamativas y muy divertidas, aunque como siempre surjan las suspicacias sobre lo que los responsables de estas aplicaciones hacen con las fotos que subimos. Google dice que Chrome 89 se creó para ahorrar memoria y cargar más rápido Google ha discutido cómo la versión 89 de Chrome ha mejorado el uso de la memoria del navegador y los tiempos de carga en Mac, Windows y Android en una nueva publicación en el blog de Chromium. Depuis les années 1990, le cratère de Chicxulub est pointé par les chercheurs comme l'arme fumante de l'objet qui aurait causé l'extinction des dinosaures : un astéroïde aux proportions titanesques, qui se serait écrasé dans la péninsule du Yucatán, au Mexique. Si cette hypothèse pouvait encore faire l'objet de controverses pour certains, elle est aujourd'hui corroborée une nouvelle fois par une étude issue de l'université du Texas. La présence d'iridium dans la croûte terrestre au niveau du cratère confirme non seulement la chute de l'objet, mais nous en apprend également plus sur son impact, au moment T et sur le long terme. En effet, si l'on en croit l'équipe de recherche de Steven Goderis, la poussière soulevée par le choc de l'astéroïde contre la surface terrestre aurait circulé dans l'atmosphère durant deux semaines. Un événement en apparence bref, mais qui aurait suffi à causer la disparition de 75% de la vie. La preuve que les catastrophes qui nous touchent d'un côté de la planète peuvent étendre leurs répercussions à l'ensemble du globe.Les beaux jours sont de retour, et avec eux, le sport. Si vous cherchez une activité pour vous aérer et vous changer les idées, sachez que courir est non seulement bon pour le corps, mais aussi pour le système immunitaire. Toujours du côté de l'université du Texas, les chercheurs ont récemment démontré que la course stimule la production de globules blancs dans la moelle osseuse. Plus spécifiquement, ils ont découvert que l'activation d'un canal ionique durant l'exercice entraînait la synthèse du facteur de croissance surnommé SCF, directement lié à la production des lymphocytes. Pour améliorer votre santé physique et mentale, envisagez donc de chausser vos baskets plusieurs fois par semaine, mais veillez à bien rester masqués en dehors des périodes d'exercice.En Atlantique un courant océanique majeur est sur le point de basculer. La circulation méridienne de retournement atlantique, surnommée Amoc, est l'un des principaux systèmes de circulation océanique de la Terre. Elle participe normalement à la redistribution de la chaleur tout autour de la planète et possède de ce fait un impact crucial sur notre climat. Malheureusement, le réchauffement climatique semble avoir considérablement affaibli ses effets, amenant les chercheurs à redouter la multiplication d'événements météorologiques extrêmes comme des vagues de chaleur ou des sècheresses estivales en Europe. Si la tendance se poursuit, ce système pourrait atteindre un point de basculement à partir duquel il deviendra instable, brisant le fragile équilibre de notre climat.C'est une théorie devenue réalité : les ouragans se déchaînent aussi dans l'espace. Alors que sur Terre comme sur d'autres planètes, les ouragans se déroulent traditionnellement dans la basse atmosphère, les chercheurs viennent d'apporter la preuve de l'existence de tels événements dans la haute atmosphère terrestre. En analysant des données satellites capturées au-dessus du pôle Nord en 2014, ils ont observé un tourbillon de plasma, une sorte d'aurore boréale spirale formée d'une myriade d'électrons énergétiques. Reste désormais à comprendre quels facteurs sont à l'origine de ces événements.Et enfin pour finir, nous vous invitons à découvrir Deep Nostalgia.
