Podcast Overview: In this conversation, Will Clarke, Huxley, and Ramin Rezaie discuss the evolution of the music industry over the past decade, emphasizing the importance of community building, engagement, and authenticity. They explore the role of luck in achieving success, the challenges posed by the streaming landscape, and the diminishing relevance of curators. The discussion also touches on the need for artists to understand their value in the business and the launch of a new platform aimed at supporting artists in their development.Who Is Huxley: Huxley aka Michael Dodman is one of the hardest working producers and DJs out there. Originally weaned on a classic British diet of house, garage and techno, he's continually buffing his sound via increasingly high profile DJ sets and a steady string of well received singles and EPs. Huxley has plunged his beats deeper and wider to incorporate more of his influences through releases for some of electronic music's best loved imprints including Tsuba, Morris Audio, Fear of Flying, Hypercolour and 20:20 Vision.Who Is Ramin Rezaie: British talent Ramin Rezaie is known all over Europe and further afield for his energetic House / Tech House / Minimal Deep Tech. With a great performance background he's played at some of the world's most reputable clubs including Fabric London, DC10, Studio 338, Privilege Ibiza, EGG London. Influenced by everything from Funk and Hip-Hop to avant-garde electronica. Ramin's prominence is on musical depth rather than genre boundaries. His approach to the skilled art of DJing is unorthodox and unique, expect hypnotic journeys accompanied by his signature produced stripped back RAW grooves with hard kicks, trembling sub baselines, sharp synths accompanied by soulful vocal cuts. With all this being said it's no surprise that his productions receive regular support from the heavy hitters including Jamie Jones, Richy Ahmed, Solardo, Dennis Cruz, Reelow, PAWSA and Michael Bibi to name just a few.Join for updates: https://laylo.com/willclarke⏲ Follow Will Clarke ⏱https://djwillclarke.com/https://open.spotify.com/artist/1OmOdgwIzub8DYPxQYbbbi?si=hEx8GCJAR3mhhhWd_iSuewhttps://www.instagram.com/djwillclarkehttps://www.facebook.com/willclarkedjhttps://twitter.com/djwillclarkehttps://www.tiktok.com/@djwillclarke Hosted on Acast. In the latest installment of our "Delayed with..." podcast series, we're thrilled to present a mix by the talented Edmondson. Hailing from Newcastle and now based in London, Edmondson's musical journey has taken him on adventures in Berlin and the scenic landscapes of southern France. His unique sound, deeply rooted in the UK's dynamic movements of the past two decades, has also drawn inspiration from far-reaching corners of the world. With releases on labels like Me Me Me and Hypercolour, as well as his very own imprint, Lissoms, Edmondson's music has found its way into eclectic sets across the spectrum. From boat parties to the legendary Berghain, his tracks have graced diverse dancefloors. Edmondson's passion for playing and collecting music since 2006 shines through in his DJ sets, which effortlessly traverse the sonic landscape. His mixes encompass a rich variety of genres, spanning from ambient to techno, weaving through the various shades of house, UK garage, neo-soul, disco, and modern minimal. Edmondson's latest mix for our podcast series is a masterfully curated, stylish musical narrative that gradually builds in energy with each passing chapter. It serves as the perfect soundtrack for a late-night drive through the rain-soaked streets of Manhattan, where the city's skyscrapers cast their luminous glow, and the urban pulse remains undeterred by the persistent rain. The mix skillfully strikes a balance between melancholy introspection and the irresistible grooves of a late-night adventure. When asked about his creative process for this mix, Edmondson's response offers a glimpse into the artistic mind behind the music: "I always like to think that a good mix has a natural flow embedded into it, almost like a day/night cycle. I used the first half to focus on combining some more delicate and introspective sounds (the kind which Delayed does such a good job of celebrating) and went a bit more off the cuff with some more deep & clubby stuff towards the end. I feel like autumn is always a fruitful time for music discovery as life moves back indoors, so I tried to make the kind of mix which I would hope to stumble upon for the colder days & nights." https://soundcloud.com/edmondson https://www.instagram.com/edmondsonandon/ https://www.facebook.com/edmondsonmusic https://soundcloud.com/lissoms https://lissomsxyz.bandcamp.com www.itsdelayed.com www.instagram.com/_____delayed/ www.facebook.com/itsdelayed

This weeks Mix Of The Week comes as a pleasant surprise, as Carlton Doom has been so kind to share his recorded set from the 2021 edition of AVA Festival with us. What a way to kickstart your weekend! Carlton Doom needs little introduction, as he is one of the most talented artists that our island has to offer. Boasting an array of releases on labels that include Cheeky Music Group, Hypercolour, Hotflush, Deep Sea Frequency and more. He possesses a vast musical style, bundled with copious amounts of knowledge within music production. The genre-merging producer has become synonymous with experimenting in different styles, mood and colours, while still portraying a somewhat identifiable sound, through warping synth lines and funked up broken rhythms. This mix is a live recorded set from his appearance at last years AVA Festival, where Carlton Doom performed at The Baltic. At a time when this was the first proper outing for a lot of festival goers due to the covid restrictions that were imposed as a result of the pandemic. This recording also includes the audio from the crowd at the set, which makes it even all the more special. All while encompassing an array of genres and anthems from start to finish, in true Carlton Doom fashion, this goes absolutely off. Check it out below! See here for full episode: patreon.com/aqnbIn this episode Steph speaks with Anthoney Hart, a DJ and producer who has been working under a number of aliases since his ‘90s pirate radio days in London. Starting with jungle and hardcore in his teens then moving into noise, bass music and grime, Anthoney has more recently returned to his roots releasing more dance-floor focussed drum and bass records via labels like Planet Mu, Type Recordings, Hypercolour and his own Raw Basics. Born in Hastings but raised on the boundary of East London and Essex, Anthoney's experience growing up working class and on the margins of British society, as well as an engagement with what he describes as the golden age of the middlebrow means he has a unique perspective on the state of music today.

Based in Berlin, J. These occasional transmissions have appeared on labels such as Hypercolour and his own, memorably titled Super Hexagon Records. DJ and producer J. Wiltshire delivers an absorbing, unexpected three-hour ambient session as the latest entry into our #PHANTASYMIX series. Ste Roberts, hails from Leeds, and has been a die hard lover of electronic music for nearly 20 years. He's funny, witty and loving life right now. Here he talks about getting out of London to hang in Woolacombe, North Devon, for a bit of rest bite, and reflects on where his love of music all began. We talk weekend pilgrimages on the National Express to Fabric London, music education, inspirational artists and his passion for vinyl. He also shares his motivation and love of making and getting lost in music. We talk about his 13 year old record label Hypercolour, which he co-owns with Alex Jones and Jamie Russell, including some of the parties they have hosted across the globe. He gives some straightforward advice to other DJ's looking to get noticed by record labels. All that plus raving in Berlin, daily routines to keep producing quality records, keeping his Account Management job selling shampoo to stay grounded whilst continuing to do what he loves. As an added bonus for anyone looking for more than the big commercial gigs, he also shares the best and most intimate venues that are up and coming on the London music scene.Straight talking Ste has some great past stories to share, a fountain of musical knowledge and is a genuinely all round nice guy. Thanks Ste, and thank you Gaz for bundling him into your BMW so we could chat! To connect with Ste find him on Instagram @ste_robertsA bit about me …. Fiona White I love playing chilled, deep, and tech house music as well as listening and sharing stories that inspire me. Box of Frogs (my very own Frogcast) is my way of doing that, whilst also connecting with people who, like me, enjoy smiling more through life.
Marko Pelaic has been a prominent figure amist the Berlin underground for many years now. He follows in the inspiration of Walter Gibbons who described a prolific relationship with music and culture as follows: "The mainstream comes to you, but you have to go to the underground." It is this ethos which Marko has brought to the forefront of his musical ideology. As a disc jockey he plays widely and with eclectic reference, his tastes are vast and are grounded in legacy and musical culture far beyond the stereotypes of dance music. Raised between Germany and Croatia his music is as much inspired by the natural majesty of the Adriatic as it is by the frenetic pulse of cities like Frankfurt and Berlin. As a producer he has released music on the likes of Hypercolour and Speak Recordings. He has also curated a successful label alongside friends Janis & Oliver Achatz in the form of House Is OK. The label has been responsible for the release of music by Homeboy himself as well as the likes of Roman Flugel, Kornel Kovacs, TCB, Adham Zahran and more. Based in the German capital he has cut his teeth and formed a close relationship with both Renate and ELSE where he is now a resident. With this in mind and ahead of a special party this Sunday in collaboration with BAR we have invited him to record a mix as part of the special ELSE curated series.

In this week's Bonus! 20% Value! episode of Failure to Launch, we examine Blade Squad, Fox's attempt to take every 90s fad and boil it down to a concentrate, suitable for washing heavily soiled Hypercolour t-shirts. We meet a rag-tag group of cops on their last chance, as they're all loose cannons. A sergeant, hot off being shot in the head, recruits them into a experimental squad of his own design - normal cops, but they've got rollerblades and jetpacks now, plus they're loose cannons. But how will these loose cannons cope when the silliest show we've watched in years takes an incredibly inappropriate dark turn? Could this really be part of the show's continuity? Turns out it's just some loose canon. Reviewers: James Ferris, Harry Brimage, Lisa Dib Soundboard: Andrew Cherry

Guy Evans is an unsung hero of sorts. Based in Cardiff he has been a presence in the wider electronic music community for over twenty five years, however, it is only more recently that his own music has started to amass the respect and credibility which it has always deserved. A few years back I was introduced to his music by one of the team behind All Caps in Rubadub in Glasgow, at the time they were wholeheartedly excited by what they described as an "old school head" who had been sending music to them. Guy Evans would later to go on to release on the label and has since progressed on to Hypercolour, Cejero, NORD Records and more...

In 2012 Michael Dodman AKA Huxley solidified himself on the global scene through his breakthrough single ‘Let It Go’. The Hypercolour released track went on to become one of that year’s biggest singles, even Resident Advisor gave it their seal of approval with a 4/5 review and a ‘RA Recommends’ stamp. The track’s use of minimal elements for maximum results really showcased his impressive grasp on electronic music, and since then Dodman has become one of the scene’s most booked DJs and producers with further releases on Aus, 20/20, Defected, Rinse and more. It is easy to see why he is so popular as his DJ sets can traverse through the whole spectrum of electronic music, keeping it interesting but never straying too far from the right side of groove. Be it musically or philosophically (his Huxley pseudonym is inspired by famous philosopher Aldous Huxley), Dodman is a real explorer who is always moving forward, and of late he has adopted an harder edged sound. His Balance Selections mix is a perfect snapshot of what the Englishman is all about today. It connects the dots through various dance floor moods that keeps it interesting throughout for a satisfying listen. Any of you synth freaks out there will know all about London Modular Alliance. It is the alias of a live electronic act made up of Koova, Yes Effect and Pip Williams, but is also a much loved and cult synth shop of the same name in Hackney, London. In the club, London Modular Alliance do things properly: they cook up brain frying soundtracks, on the fly, with modular synths, no laptops, and many patch cables. Exactly what will go down at any of their shows is unknown even by the men behind the machines, such is their nature, but suffice it to say they always impress. Their studio sounds are equally beguiling and have come on Brokntoys and Hypercolour, and now they make their unique entry into our mix series. Clocking in at just over an hour, it is a one of the most alive soundtracks we have heard: the whole thing unfolds and evolves seemingly with a life of its own. There are no joins between tracks, no jarring transitions, just a fluid fusion of electro and techno grooves coated in that raw analogue texture we all love so much. Variously prickly and kinetic, raw and freaky or more supple and seductive, it is a splendid session from some of the finest synth maestros out there.

Sebastien Bouchet has a penchant for intricacy and detail. It is present in subtle delicacy throughout his production, his music as much about mood and environment as it is for the dancefloor. The Frenchman has amassed a reputation for releasing tactfully crafted music on the likes of Kompakt, Hippie Dance, Hypercolour and more. His appearances prevalent and each release enlightening in its own sense. In the coming months he will release music on Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant and Kompakt under a brand new guise of Sebastopol. In honour of this we felt it to be fair that he had the chance to demonstrate his new alias through a contribution to the Ransom Note mix series, which he has kindly done below.
In 2008 I started a series of radio shows with fellow Freak and host, Jonny Rock. The original format was based around vinyl. Digital started to creep in, then CD's, then YouTube rips, and so on. But the idea remained the same, that we were sharing our discoveries with an audience. Fast forwarding a couple of years and expanding on the original concept, I will once again be playing dance music that you may or may not have heard, but this time said music will be readily available, if pointed in the right direction of course. The idea is for you to use me as your selector slash shop assistant in a virtual record store. Not only will I be shouting about both old and new music, but I will also be following it up with a series of compilations to be released on my label, Classic throughout the year. I will be your slightly odd, slightly off-centre, guide. But ultimately and most importantly, your friendly on-line record shop assistant. Business As Usual: May Tracklisting 01. No less than Marco Faraone is starring the Moon Harbour Radio Show #39 - besides Dan Drastic, of course, who is hosting the show as always. Marco is providing Moon Harbour with Dancefloor bombs since almost 3 years now. He recently released his first album “I Will Wait” on his own label Etruria Beat. His “Jambo EP” on Desolat was also a big step for him this summer. In a short Q and A with Dan he talks about his new album, tells us how he started his DJ career and what are his plans for the future. Also Dan Drastic will play a lot of new stuff: some tracks from Marco Faraones album and two tracks from his new EP, to be released on Moon Harbour on August 1st. Finally Marco Faraone contributes an exclusive 90 minutes DJ mix for the show. The Moon Harbour Radio Show is presented by Allen & Heath.
