Ed Jackson says he has lived two lives. For ten years he was a professional rugby player, who was defined by his physicality and performance. But in 2017, at a family friend's barbecue, an accident ended this old life forever. He dived into a swimming pool, not realising it was three feet deep. On the way to the hospital he had to be resuscitated three times. Not long after, he was told he'd never walk again.Incredibly, just three years from this moment, Ed was standing on the world's highest trekking peak, Aconagua. He shares this rollercoaster story, from the initial devastation of his prognosis to the slow flicker of hope, from long rehabilitation to a level of recovery he didn't think was possible. It was a fundraising expedition to Snowdon that then sent his life in an entirely new direction, when he saw the opportunity to use his experience to help others in a similar boat. Now, as co-founder of the Millimetres 2 Mountains foundation, such is the purpose he has found, he says he no longer regrets the accident that led him here. Hosted on Acast. Ed Jackson is a bloody inspiration. He was a professional rugby player before his career was cut short when he dived into a swimming pool and broke his neck. He nearly died and was told he would not walk again. But Ed worked his butt off and confounded the critics, going on to make a remarkable recovery - and has since developed something of a penchant for climbing mountains. And now, a movie has been made about his remarkable story, called The Mountain Within Me. It's currently in UK cinemas, and I can't recommend going to see it enough. This is a rerelease of the first conversation Ed and I had a few years ago, and I am chuffed that his epic story continues to develop in such impactful ways. Send us a Text Message.Exploring Micro-Adventures with Dr. Niall McCann: The Beauty of the World Right Outside Your DoorAdventures don't always have to involve a passport and a plane ticket. Sometimes, the greatest discoveries await just beyond your doorstep. This is the theme of an inspiring conversation on the "Adventure Diaries" podcast where host Chris Watson and his guest, Dr. Niall McCann, explore the concept of "micro-adventures" — small-scale explorations that encourage us to engage deeply with our local environments. In Episode 4, Chris Watson recaps the engaging and transformative journeys of his guests from the past season, focusing particularly on the insights offered by Dr. McCann. Dr. McCann, an avid adventurer and conservationist, shares his unique perspective on finding adventure in familiar places. Inspired by Al Humphries' approach of exploring every square kilometer around his home using a site-centered map, Dr. McCann discusses how he and his young daughter have come to know the nooks and crannies of their own neighborhood, revealing that true adventure starts at home. But the conversation doesn't just dwell on local adventures. Dr. McCann also highlights his work with the charity Millimetres for Mountains, co-founded by his friends Ed Jackson and Darren Edwards, both of whom are ambassadors for the charity following their personal experiences with spinal cord injuries. The charity is remarkable, focusing on using outdoor adventures as a therapeutic tool for those who have experienced significant physical or mental trauma. The transformative power of nature and the community that forms around these shared outdoor experiences, Dr. McCann notes, is profoundly uplifting and inspiring.Chris Watson wraps up the episode with a call to action, inviting listeners to not only explore their local surroundings but also engage with Millimetres for Mountains. He emphasizes the value of connecting with others through adventure and recovery, urging his audience to consider participating in one of the charity's public walks. This episode of "Adventure Diaries" is a reminder of the accessibility of adventure. It's not just about distant lands and extreme challenges; it's also about appreciating and exploring the beauty that lies just outside our front doors. It encourages us to see the world with fresh eyes and to find the extraordinary in the everyday.Join Dr. Niall McCann on a journey to discover the micro-adventures that await just outside your window. Guest: Ed Jackson, community historian Hanlan's Point is known as Toronto's clothing-optional beach, but it has deeper significance as a historically queer space and has recently been recognized for its place in city history. The beach in the Toronto Islands was the site of Canada's first Pride celebration in 1971 and a place, just outside of the spotlight, that was quietly known for decades as a safe gathering spot when it was not safe to be out elsewhere. It has some ugly history too, including homophobic violence and police harassment, that has flared up all too recently. Ed Jackson is a community historian and co-editor of the book “Any Other Way: How Toronto Got Queer.” He joins “This Matters” to talk about this significance. This episode was produced by Julia De Laurentiis Johnston, Sean Pattendon and Brian Bradley. Audio Sources: Friends of Hanlan's

"Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time."Most people are super busy and the rates of burnout are soaring. So, something has to give, but the question is what? One person who came up with a brilliant formula for working out how to spend his time is Ed Jackson. Ed was a professional rugby player who broke his neck and was told he would never walk again but has made a remarkable recovery. Ed's formula for how to spend his time changed his life, and also changed the life of one of my other guests who listened to our conversation, and adopted Ed's formula in her own life. What are you like at having difficult conversations? You know the type of thing, you have something you want to say, that needs saying – but rather than embrace the discomfort you decide it's more bother than it's worth and sweep it under the carpet. However – our ability to have difficult conversations and express ourselves truthfully, honestly and responsibly is one of the most important life skills anyone can have. Sweeping things under the carpet doesn't make issues go away – they simply linger and fester and eventually contaminate relationships in one way or other. One person who knows first hand the power of embracing difficult conversations is Ed Jackson, the former pro rugby player who broke his neck diving into the pool.He wasn't expected to walk again but has massively confounded the experts and there's no way he could have achieved what he has without his wife Louis. She was a huge support to Ed after his accident – and enabled him to make such a tremendous recovery – but while she was putting on a brave face she was dealing with her own trauma. So, eventually, she decided to share her feelings with Ed. It wasn't an easy conversation for either of them – particularly louis – but it was fundamental, and helped the two of them move through what they were going through and grow together. Theirs is such a good example of having difficult conversations – but I know for a fact that this is something we could all get better at, and it can have a profound effect on how we grow, individually and in relationship. One of my fav episodes to date - What a guy Ed is. From professional Rugby player to Quadriplegic. From never walking again, to scaling mountains a year later. Resilience in spades. Who knew, wiggling your toe would lead to so many adventures. I love his resilience, his willingness to push boundaries, and the ability to say yes, and figure it out as he goes along. Thanks always Motazone.net, Supply My Fire, and Tiny Rebel Brewery
Ed Jackson-Sankey started coaching at the age of 12, helping his mother run the after-school team at a local primary school. That was 16 years ago. Now, Ed is in the final stages of completing his Uefa A and Elite Youth A Licenses. His coaching journey, which has taken him to South Korea and seen him take up roles in England with Portsmouth and Oxford City, among others, was interspersed with a stint as a secondary school teacher. Now, he bases a lot of his coaching methodologies on the principles he learned as a teacher. SCW caught up with Ed to talk about one principle he's particularly committed to: player-led environments…

After a demanding book tour, superstar mystery novelist Grace McCabe (Alyssa Milano) decides to visit her sister, Kathleen, who's embroiled in a custody battle after a bitter divorce. Arriving in D.C., Grace is shocked to find Kathleen living in a run-down neighborhood and, hoping to afford a hotshot lawyer, supplementing her meager teacher's salary by moonlighting as a phone sex operator. According to Kathleen, Fantasy, Inc., guarantees its employees ironclad anonymity. But Grace has her doubts which are confirmed one horrifying cherry-blossom-scented night when one of Fantasy, Inc.'s operators is murdered. As Grace is drawn to help solve the crime, her life turns into a scene from one of her own books. Yet as one of her biggest fans, investigator Ed Jackson, warns her: This isn't fiction. Real people die and Grace could be next. For she's setting a trap for a killer more twisted than anything she could imagine. And not even Ed may be able to protect her from a rendezvous with lust and death. My thoughts What the heck is this doing on Netflix? It's quite bizzarely funny - it's terrible hence 2/10 for me.. But it's sort of absorbing once even if you feel slighty dirty watching it.It's truly terrible and there is something in that.Advice Skip it.. its a waste of time.. poorly written mystery, murder ,suspense film .★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

In 2017 Ed Jackson had everything to look forward to. A professional rugby player, the 28-year-old had just signed another two-year contract with the Welsh team Dragons, and he and his girlfriend Lois had got engaged and were planning a fabulous wedding in Italy the following year. All of that changed in a split second when Ed mistakenly dived into the shallow end of a swimming pool. He hit his head with such force that he dislocated and fractured two vertebrae at the base of his neck. Paralysed from the neck down, he was told he would never walk again, but Ed quickly found the positives in his situation and says he considers himself "lucky". It's an attitude that has taken him further than you could ever imagine. Ed has written a book about his life called Lucky, and his charity is called Millimetres 2 Mountains. Why self-sacrificing and people-pleasing can be selfish, while looking after yourself can be selfless.Ed Jackson suffered a devastating accident after diving into a shallow swimming pool and breaking his neck in 2017. He made a miraculous recovery despite being told he would never walk again. Ed first appeared on the show two years ago but this episode is very different. In this conversation we go deep exploring what Ed and his wife Lois have learned since his accident in 2017.They learnt to embrace hard and honest comversations in the transitional period after Ed's accident - and have lessons to share on that that can benefit anyone. We also discuss the importance of letting life happen and not being overly fixated on specific outcomes, and much more besides. If you could share this episode with anyone who might benefit from hearing it – we would both be incredibly grateful.@simonmundie***NB. Ed Jackson had a ten-year career in rugby. A proud Bath lad, and someone who had grown up watching Bath at the Rec, Ed's dreams came true when he was signed by the club in 2007 at 18 years old. Surprisingly, it was a day off the rugby field though that would bring Ed's rugby career to an end. On 6th April 2017, at a family party, Ed chose to jump into a pool and unfortunately the depth was much shallower than expected. Ed was rushed to hospital immediately – along the way having to be resuscitated three times – when in the Spinal Cord Injury unit at Southmead Hospital he received the devastating news that he would never walk again. However, as we write this message, Ed is getting ready to walk Mont Blanc – one of the numerous mountains he climbed in the last 4 years. He is the living example that in life we cannot change certain things that happen to us. What we can control, however, is how we perceive these events, and therefore our responses to certain setbacks. Since jumping in the pool, Ed has defied the odds to walk again, has climbed mountains in Nepal, has been recruited to commentate on the Paralympics in Tokyo and – as of yesterday – has become a Sunday Times best-selling writer. These are all feats that– to Ed's own admission – he wouldn't have done when still a rugby player. However, Ed's ability to find purpose in his life and to practice daily self-improvement, gratitude and perspective has allowed him to achieve. Often in life it's the post-traumatic growth we need to become who we always had the potential to be, and Ed is testament to that. Ed has also co-founded Millimetres to Mountains, a platform that helps individuals redefine their limitations and take steps towards a brighter future. Alongside this, Ed has recently released his book, entitled “Lucky: From Tragedy to Triumph one step at a time.” The book, which is available on Amazon, is an incredibly personal account of Ed's journey and the mental and physical challenges he overcame to get to the point he's at today. The strength of the story has been confirmed by reaching Sunday Times best-seller status recently – another incredible achievement by an amazing bloke.
Today's guest is Ed Jackson, who blows me away with his wisdom and resilience.Ed is a former professional Rugby player whose sports career was thriving. In April 2017, after diving into the shallow end of a swimming pool, Ed broke his neck and suffered a spinal cord injury which left him paralyzed from the neck down. Doctors said that he would never walk again, but through sheer determination and intensive rehabilitation, Ed began reaching the summits of mountains within a year of his operation. Ed inspires others to overcome their fears and details how goals are achievable no matter how impossible they may seem.Ed's life altering experience has provided him with an extraordinary ability to motivate, and I know you'll feel that nothing is impossible after listening to him.A note on the sound: Please forgive the occasional background noise on my side of the recording. I am on vacation in the Dominican Republic, so what you're hearing is wind, rustling trees, and occasional traffic. I wanted to be sure to get an episode out to you - just didn't realize how hard it'd be to find a quiet place with internet on this island! Listen as we discuss:Ed's incredible story. How he dived into the shallow end of a pool and was left functionally paralyzed. What it felt like to be paralyzed, and finally be able to move a toe.The perspective of gratitude that results from losing and regaining movement. The fears Ed faced during recovery, and post-traumatic growth.Ed's charity and his totally unexpected life right now.Ed's new book, LuckyYour life is in your hands.Facebook: @mo.gawdat.officialTwitter: @mgawdatLinkedIn: /in/mogawdatWebsite: mogawdat.com/podcastConnect with Ed Jackson on Instagram @edjackson8, Facebook @edjackson8, Twitter @edjackson8, and his website, edjackson8.com. Ed Jackson is a successful TV presenter, mountaineer, and as of yesterday, an author, however this hasn't always been Ed's way of life. A former professional rugby player, Ed was involved in a freak accident, diving head-first into the shallow end of a swimming pool back in 2017. Ed broke his neck and crushed his spinal cord, leaving him paralysed in a hospital bed, and was told he would never walk again. That, however, was not going to get in the way of Ed living his life to the fullest. In the last four years, Ed has not only focussed on his own recovery, defying the odds and learning to walking again, but felt immediately inspired to help others. Ed has unbelievably been climbing mountains since 2018, raising thousands of pounds for charity, and has more recently started his very own charity “Millimetres to Mountains”. Ed's first book “Lucky” was released yesterday, to unite and inspire the reader, whatever their story. Lucky by Ed Jackson (Published by HQ) is out now. This is a Somethin' Else production. For someone who was playing as a professional rugby player at the highest level for over 10 years to then suffer a serious accident that left them paralysed from the neck down, you wouldn't expect for them to consider themselves ‘lucky'. But this is exactly how my next guest refers to himself as.In April 2017, after diving into the shallow end of a swimming pool, Ed Jackson broke his neck and suffered a spinal cord injury which left him paralysed from the neckdown. Doctors said that he would never walk again ... but through sheer determination and intensive rehabilitation, Ed reached the summit of mountains within a year of his operation. A feat not even the most optimistic of medical professionals could have ever imagined.I learnt so much from Ed on today's pod. His attitude to consistently challenge himself, both mentally and physically, his ability to reframe even the most difficult of situations that enables him to see the positives and ultimately his humility. We talk about his specific traumatic event and aspects of his mental journey as well as the physical, and how stoicism, reframing his mindset and ‘painting his life with appreciation' led to recovery.Ed's new book 'Lucky' is the story of how he faced the impossible when it seemed all hope was lost. And Ed shows how you, too, can overcome the biggest challenges that life sends your wayEd has since gone on to conquer many mountains, start his own charity millimetres2mountains.org/ and has been listed to present the Paralympic games in Tokyo on Channel 4.All the links to his socials and website are on thedoctorskitchen.com as well as where you can sign up to our 7 day meal plan for free and join the Eat, Watch, Read newsletter where every week I share a recipe to make as well as something for you to watch listen to or read to help you live healthier and happier every day. On this week's episode we are joined by former professional rugby player Ed Jackson. In 2017 Ed suffered a severe injury which meant he was left paralysed but he hasn't let that stop his sense of adventure.
There is a well documented risk of injury in rugby union but in this episode Ed Jackson helps Jack Nowell put this into perspective and explains how he's not allowed setbacks to stand in the way of achieving great things. Along with Nick Bright, Ed - a former professional rugby player himself and ambassador to Restart as well as Wings for Life - describes how breaking his neck off the pitch hasn't stopped his desire to accomplish incredible things off it.If you want to know more about Ed's recovery, you can listen to him in this episode of 'How To Be Superhuman' - http://win.gs/EdJacksonYou can listen and watch all episodes of Decoding Athletes with Jack and Nick Bright, revisit Season One, and read more about all the athletes featured at http://redbull.com/decoding

Why did the despicable Ku Klux Klan become pervasive across Indiana during the 1920s? Who joined? And does the tendency of the general public to focus on Klan Grand Dragon D.C. Stephenson (and his lurid scandals) dilute the more insidious - if less sensationalistic - impact the KKK had on life in Indiana in the 1920s? These are among the questions that acclaimed Indiana historian James Madison tackles in his new book, The Ku Klux Klan in the Heartland (IU Press), which explores one of the most shameful eras in the Hoosier state. From 1923 through 1925, the peak of the KKK's influence in Indiana, "up to one third of the state's native-born, white Protestant men signed up," Jim Madison notes. Jim, an IU professor emeritus of history whose honors and awards include being designated a Living Legend by the Indiana Historical Society in 2016, will be Nelson's guest as Hoosier History Live continues its mission to explore all aspects of the state's heritage. Jim Madison's other books include Hoosiers: A New History of Indiana (2014) and A Lynching in the Heartland (2001), which explored the 1930 lynching in Marion, Ind., of two African-American teenagers. That notorious episode was not connected to the KKK. The Klan that dominated Indiana during the 1920s was the second of three incarnations of the organization in American history, Jim notes. The first, which formed soon after the Civil War, prevailed in Southern states and terrorized African Americans newly freed from slavery. In contrast, the Klan's primary targets in Indiana during the 1920s were immigrants and Catholics, according to The Ku Klux Klan in the Heartland. By many accounts, one of the largest Klan gatherings (or "Konklaves") unfolded in Kokomo on July 4, 1923. Thousands of Hoosiers were joined by visitors from other states for an event that featured fireworks; a massive cross that was soaked in kerosene and set on fire; a parade of robed men and women accompanied by nine bands, and the dramatic arrival of Stephenson (1891-1966) in an open cockpit biplane. "Klan men and women saw themselves not as bigoted extremists, but as good Christians and good patriots joining proudly in a moral crusade," Jim writes. Membership rosters, he adds, demonstrate that Hoosiers who joined the Klan were not exclusively stereotypical "rubes" lacking in education or sophistication. Instead, membership consisted of "a wide range of people, most from the middle ranks of society. Respectable lawyers, Masons, police officers, churchwomen, teachers, mayors and businessmen joined the Klan in Indiana." Klan membership cards and receipts for KKK memorabilia in Hamilton County from 1923 to 1926 - discovered during the 1990s in a trunk stored in a barn - are now at the Indiana Historical Society. The documents are available for viewing by the public by making an appointment with the historical society's library. Opposition to the Klan did exist in Indiana. In 1924, hundreds of University of Notre Dame students protested Klan members, even pulling off their hoods and throwing potatoes at them, a clash described in The Ku Klux Klan in the Heartland. Four years later, the Indianapolis Times newspaper received a Pulitzer Prize for its anti-Klan reporting. Many Hoosiers who opposed the KKK, though, opted to remain silent. Allies of the Klan included Gov. Ed Jackson, whom Jim Madison describes as "the undisputed holder of the title of the worst governor in Indiana history." At Jackson's inaugural reception in January 1925, Grand Dragon Stephenson stood by his side. Later indicted on charges of attempted bribery, Jackson "escaped jail only on a technicality," Jim writes. The peak years of Klan membership in Indiana were 1923 and '24. Local chapters, called Klaverns, existed in every county. World War I, which ended in 1918, "had advanced suspicions of the foreign born . . . anyone not judged to be 100 percent American," according to The Ku Klux Klan in the Heartland. The suspicions swept across Indiana, Jim Madison writes, in part because the state was more homogeneous than many others. Some of the counties with the highest per capita Klan membership had the least diversity. In 2010, Hoosier History Live explored the Klan's stranglehold on Indiana's political and cultural life during the 1920s. Research by our guest on that show, IU professor emeritus Allen Safianow, assisted Jim Madison in putting together The Ku Klux Klan in the Heartland.

This week the topic of race and racism has been incredibly prevalent in conversations both inside and outside of the church community. Because of this, a lot of people have questions regarding how we're supposed to respond and what we are called to be as disciples. This week we have the privilege of listening to an African American brother from the Atlanta Church named Dr. Ed Jackson. Today, we are going to look into the scripture and ask ourselves some hard questions. What does injustice look like, in our reality and in the bible? What are we seeing in Minneapolis region? What has brought us to this moment, culturally? How can we draw any parallels to the Israelites in Isaiah? Join us as we dive into scripture and challenge ourselves and our perceptions. Why adversity can be a blessing in disguise, with walking quadriplegic Ed Jackson. Ed was a professional rugby player whose career was cut short when he broke his neck diving into a shallow swimming pool. Ed nearly died and was told he would never walk again but he confounded the experts and even recently climbed Mount Snowdon. He was due to be climbing Mont Blanc for charity in June, although that's now been cancelled because of the lockdown. Instead, Ed is climbing the equivalent height of Everest on his parents stairs, having been inspired by the fundraising efforts of 99-year-old Captain Tom. The theme of this episode is perspective as Ed says since his injury he is actually happier and more grateful than when playing professional sport. He talks about people's innate negativity bias and how positivity can be trained. Simon and Ed also discuss embracing uncertainty, the power of belief, redefining limitations, adding value to other people's lives and understanding events are only 'bad' if you decide that they are. As ever please get in touch with any thoughts, ideas or questions: @simonmundie
The man who could be running the sport next month joins us this week as Agustin Pichot discusses taking on Sir Bill Beaumont in the race to become World Rugby Chairman, the voting system involved, the global season, his frustration with the pace of change over the last four years, the new mindset he thinks is necessary to take rugby forward and much more. Plus, Jim's flummoxed by another riddle, there's another donation made to the NHS after the Quarantine Quiz and we check in with friend of the show Ed Jackson, who is climbing his stairs to the height of Everest this week to raise money for charity... Professional rugby player Ed Jackson was enjoying a BBQ when he suffered a fate that would change the course of his life forever. He'd dived into his friend's swimming pool, crashing his head at the bottom – an impact so severe that the disk between his C6 and C7 vertebrae (the two at the bottom of the neck) exploded and dislocated, cutting through half of his spinal cord. He was told he would never be able to walk again - but just a year later was stood at the top of Mount Snowdon. In this episode Rob Pope Rob chats through the horrific series of events that took place that day - from the journey to the hospital he very nearly didn't survive, to waking up after seven hours of surgery to discover he could no longer feel his hands or feet.Ed explains how he took his fate into his own hands by using the power of his mind to revive his dormant body and ultimately carve out a new identity for himself as a quadriplegic climber – as well as a new life committed to helping people through the mountains.Find out more about Wings for Life's work to find a cure for spinal cord injury at http://wingsforlife.comAnd how you can be part of the Wings for Life World Run at http://wingsforlifeworldrun.comListen to all episodes and discover more about How to Be Superhuman at http://redbull.com/superhuman

Welcome to my second series of Headstrong. My first episode is with Ed Jackson. Ed is an amazing individual. Ed played professional rugby for a number of clubs in the Premiership & the Championship, when in April 2017 his life changed forever. Despite fracturing his spine and at stages in his recovery not being able to move anything but flick his fingers, he is now a Restart Rugby Trustee and defying the odds by climbing mountains. This is a truly inspiring podcast episode and not one to be missed.

On Restart Rugby Weekend we highlight the phenomenal work that the Rugby Players Association do with professional players past and present. They were there to support former London Welsh, Wasps and Dragons No.8 Ed Jackson when he suffered a life threatening neck injury 2 years ago. It is a remarkable story of resilience, persistence and positivity...
After a career playing professional rugby, Ed Jackson broke his neck on April 8th 2017 in a freak accident. He jumped into the shallow end of a pool at a family barbecue and from there his ‘Road to Recovery' begun. Jackson had fractured and dislocated the C6 and C7 vertebrae and shattered the disc between them his spinal cord was impacted and partially crushed, resulting in damage, swelling and spinal shock. Things looked rocky. Ed started to document what was going on via voicenote within the first few days of having the accident. His personal journey became very well followed and his incredible progress mesmerised the people who had taken interest. Around 25,000. From being a big unit on the rugby pitch and moving his body in a large capacity it must have been bizarre for him to then have to put all his concentration into trying to move single toes and fingers. I can't even fathom how frustrating that must have been. Hearing Ed's journey over the last 18 months and how he now views life was one of the most mesmerising 45 minutes I've had whilst starting this podcast. I walked away feeling so inspired and grateful for life. I have no doubt that you will too. * Ed gives us a bit of background on his childhood as a swimmer and then talks about how he got into professional rugby. * Ed talks about the accident that changed his life forever. What happened and the incidents surrounding the accident. * How the ‘Road to Recovery' started and the impact it has had on people. He tells us why he started it and how it has gone from strength to strength. * Ed talks us through moments such as being told he may never walk again and his feelings upon moving his toe for the first time since the accident. * Where did the mindset of refusing to accept defeat come from? He tells us what drove him day in and day out. * Ed tells us about his decision to climb Mount Snowdon within a year of his accident. Crazy. Especially after having being advised specifically not to by physios and doctors. * I ask Ed how the experience has impacted his perspective on life. Does he still concentrate on short term goals on a daily basis? * Ed tells us what is going on for him in 2019. THIS IS A HUGE EPISODE. NOT ONE TO BE MISSED. UNBELIEVABLE GUY.
What is a virtual event and how can it help a small charity to build relationships with new and existing fundraisers? In this episode we speak to Ed Jackson about virtual events, how to make them work for your charity, and how meeting supporters on their terms is the best way of developing support for your cause.

So this is it. The big super-sized finale that provides a closure of sorts to the Cats With Benefits/Old Country Road Killer storylines. Though Halloween night has ended (depending on how you define such things), there are still plenty of horrific things in store for the residents of Williamsburg. But what do a couple pieces of ugly old jewelry have to do with anything? I can’t tell you that, but I will say that not everyone makes it through alive to find out the answer! This podcast contains swearing. Robert Mosby as Roger P. Shiffle Mike Turner as Ed Jackson Jalen Mouser as Toby Frank Battle as Mr. Toliver Ed Champion as Dr. Blevin Claudia Swain As Jordan Bales Claire Penix as Meghan Marshall Lynn Sikora as the nurse Philip Burcher as John Dunhill Linda Hertzler as Valerie Dunhill Susan Branch Smith as the unnamed ghost Jacob Wilson as Josh Ryder Reid Perkins as Caleb Souter Suzanne Douglas as Cynthia Souter Louise Menges as Margaret Souter Will Hausman as Dale Souter Austin Beach as Mr. Guest Sarah Golding as Mrs. Guest Daniel Turner as Zeph Metcalf Zoë Bowen Smith as Ally Burks Colleen Kennedy as Hexabeth Blackhard Series Recap for Those Just Joining Us: The Thing in the Floorboard Now that greasy thug Ed Jackson has gotten his grimy little hands on the weird object Valerie Dunhill stashed away at the old Dunhill farmhouse all those years ago (waaayy before she started secretly murdering tourists), what will happen to it? We’ll find out when Ed’s shady employer at the Historic Williamsburg Corporation, Mr. Toliver, finally makes an appearance. What could he want with the strange artifact? Hopefully nothing kinky. Cats With Benefits Aaron, the lead singer for the majorly underappreciated college rock band Cats With Benefits has been missing for a couple weeks now. Unbeknownst to the band, the secret séance convened to contact Aaron in the afterworld has ended in a bloody mess. How badly were people hurt? Will CWB keyboardist Josh forgive WCWM DJ Caleb Souter for participating, or is it splitsville for Calosh? And why did Caleb go to the séance in the first place? He must have had a good reason. Meghan the Psychic So, the séance of William & Mary’s resident student psychic Meghan Marshall didn’t go that well. But she’s finally vindicated, right? She actually did commune with the dead. Didn’t she? Will her encounter with the alleged spirit of Hexabeth Blackhard leave her traumatized or enlightened? I’ve got five dollars riding on the answer. Hexabeth Blackhard Will the 18th century sorceress Hexabeth finally crawl her way out of two hundred years of darkness? Those crazy kids huddled in the attic of the Equator club certainly got much more than they bargained for when they started talking with the no longer living. Whatever happens, I’ll bet it will add an interesting new chapter to Hex’s diary. The Dunhills A visit to the old family homestead, breaking and entering, a police escort...aged patriarch John Dunhill hasn’t seen this much excitement in years! It would have been even more exciting, but old friend Roger P. Shiffle was not receptive. When he recounts the family-friendly version of the night’s adventures to his comatose daughter Julie, will she so much as flutter an eyelid? A pro-tip for first time listeners: If you hear a ventilator, that means your in Julie’s room. And she still hasn’t revived. The Souters I’m starting to think that B&B owner Margaret Souter is never going to leave her bed. When you’re as old as she is the slightest upset can derail your whole damn life. Maybe it was the hip operation. Maybe it’s the weight of knowing so many of Williamsburg’s secrets. Or maybe she’s tougher (and more manipulative) than we think. Her son Dale probably has an opinion on that. And now that he’s learned some the town’s secrets (via Hexabeth’s diary) what will he do with the knowledge?
