Coach Stan Waterman shares his journey from growing up in Wilmington, Delaware to becoming the Head Coach at Delaware State.After playing Division I basketball at the University of Delaware he began his coaching journey at as an Assistant Coach at Wilmington and then moved onto the Sanford School. In his 29 seasons at the Sanford School he led the program to 571 wins, 10 state championship game appearances, winning eight state titles, including his last two seasons in 2019 and 2021.He went onto coach with USA Basketball where he was on staff for the the gold-medal-winning 2018 USA Men's U17 World Cup Team and the 2017 USA Men's U16 national team. 「広島OBの日本人監督明かす！年代別中国代表の裏側「現場介入あった」」　　サンフレッチェ広島OBの上村健一氏は2025年4月、年代別の中国代表監督を退任。現地では本人のコメントとともに、予選敗退に終わったAFC U17アジアカップの裏側が報じられている。　上村氏は2024年2月からおよそ1年3か月にわたり、U16,U17中国代表を指揮。U17アジア杯のグループステージでは、初戦でサウジアラビア代表に1-2で敗れると、第2戦でもウズベキスタン代表に1-2。第3戦ではタイ代表を2-0で下したが、グループAで3位という結果に終わり、ノックアウトステージ進出を逃した。　『懂球帝』が5月5日に伝えたところによると、上村氏はU17アジア杯の結果について「中国代表は良い結果を残せると思っていた。初戦は先制された後、試合をコントロールできなかった。第2戦では現場介入があった。スタメンや戦い方を自分で決めることができなかった。現場介入は、試合前のトレーニングの段階であった」とコメント。中国サッカー協会関係者等からの意見が相次いで寄せられた当時の状況を振り返ったという。　また、U17アジア杯に臨む代表チームの選手選考に関しても「全員が自分が望む選手というわけではなかった」と語るなど、現場介入があったと主張。「誰もが代表チームの勝利を望んだ上で意見を述べていると思う。だが、考え方に違いがあることもあった。チームスタッフの中には、私の決断に賛同しない人もいた」と意見の相違があったことを明かしたという。　さらに第3戦では、スタメン11人のうち5人は監督自身が思い描くメンバーではなかったほか、指揮官の考えとは異なるポジションでプレーしている選手もいた模様。上村氏は「現場介入がU17アジア杯でグループステージ敗退という結果に終わった大きな要因だ」と分析したという。　「日本人のコーチングスタッフと、中国人のコーチングスタッフの間では良好なコミュニケーションが欠けていた」「中国人コーチの中には、過去に選手として良い成績を残した人もおり、そのようなコーチは私に話を通すことなく、自身の経験に基づいた考えを選手に直接伝えていた」と、代表チームの実態も明かしたという上村氏。中国サッカーが発展しない理由が、同氏のコメントに凝縮されているかもしれない。

Jamilon (Jami) Muelders is a highly accomplished Field Hockey coach and athlete with extensive international experience.  With a journey that includes winning a World Cup title as a player in 2002, Jami is one of only three individuals in the hockey world to have the extraordinary distinction of becoming a world champion both on the field and from the sidelines. Currently the Performance Manager for the Dutch Hockey Association (KNHB), he oversees the U16 to U21 national youth teams, guiding coaches and staff while structuring their training programs. Prior to that, Jami led the Dutch women's national team, capturing the World Cup gold medal in 2022. His expertise also played a pivotal role in the German men's national team securing their own World Cup gold in 2023 as an assistant coach.  His coaching journey includes a European Championship gold medal and an Olympic bronze medal with the German women's team at the Rio 2016 Games, followed by a bronze medal with the Chinese women's team at the 2018 Asian Games. Most recently, Jami contributed to a silver medal for the German men's team at the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking a significant milestone in his coaching career. What sets Jami apart is his coaching philosophy, which harmonizes peak performance with personal well-being. This unique blend of playing and coaching experience not only highlights his profound understanding of the game but also underscores his unwavering commitment to nurturing talent and fostering winning mindsets. Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse.Atlanta United finished off a disappointing home stand with a 1-0 loss to New England on Saturday afternoon at the Benz. Atlanta was the better team on paper once again, but conceded a penalty and little else to the Revs. It was a frustrating day because Atlanta hit the crossbar, the post, and had two goals wiped away due to offside infractions. As I said on the Full Time Report, not going to get into the judgment calls that can be justified by the referee crew. We can disagree, but they can be justified in their interpretations. My issue is the lack of control at times and the lack of yellow cards for persistent infringement, which could have changed things late in the match. New England committed 10 fouls between the 40th and 60th minutes, most of them in the middle third in transition moments or Atlanta build-up play. One yellow card was shown. 20 fouls on the day for the Revs and two yellow cards shown. For better matches in MLS, referees need to use yellow cards for persistent infringement (after warnings of course to try to change the behavior). No one wants to watch one team who isn't really interested in playing much kick the other team repeatedly with limited repercussions.With that being said, Atlanta didn't convert on its chances again, made a defensive mistake again, and didn't take advantage of outplaying the opponent again. Mistakes by individuals have to be eliminated, production has to increase, and an emotional response is needed in games when they're getting away. The team is working hard, but sometimes there isn't that hard foul, or positive body language, or protecting teammates that can generate some momentum in the stands and on the field. It's something I hope to see grow in this group, a little bit of an edge and a little bit of nastiness when needed. Brian White scored 4 times for Vancouver as they demolished Austin 5-1, even with a mouse running onto the field at BC Place. Columbus and Miami remain unbeaten ahead of their showdown in Cleveland on Saturday. Portland is unbeaten in 5 after their 4-2 win in Kansas City. Atlanta United's U18's are off to an unbeaten start at the Generation adidas Cup in Florida, while the U16's need a win today to possibly reach the knockout round. Two time Olympian Philip Doyle secured a historic bronze medal for Ireland in Rowing at the Paris Olympics with his teammate Daire Lynch. With an impressive resume that includes two World Cup Silver Medals, a World Championship Bronze and Silver Medal, and a Tokyo Olympic Semi-Final appearance, it was Paris 2024 where Philip's Olympic Medal dreams came true.  A high achiever from a young age his sporting talent saw him embrace many sports from soccer and gaelic, to cricket, athletics and swimming before field hockey became his sport of choice.  Playing it to a high level he represented Ireland at U16 in the European Championship. Off the field of play Philip's academic ability saw him graduate from Queen's University in Belfast with a first class honours in Medical Science and a Medical Degree  It wasn't until a decade or so ago that Philip first took up rowing, whilst at university, the former Abercrombie & Fitch model took to his new sport like a duck to water and it wasn't long before he was winning races and excelling in his new found sport.  In this podcast Philip shares a snippet of his life as an elite athlete, the rigorous training routines, mental fortitude and nutritional strategies required to perform at his best, all whilst balancing a demanding medical career. Our guest this week is our top point scorer since project reset, Osian McAvoy.  Osian is a Llandeilo RFC graduate having played with their team all the way to seniors and even invites himself on their 150th anniversary tour to Beziers.  He represented Scarlets at U16 and U18 and had a training week with Wales age grade, before deciding to get out of Wales to experience life and prioritise his education at Reading University.  Whilst there, he played a few matches for Rams in Nat 2, before graduating and finding himself at London Welsh post Covid.  Osian has been an ever present since then and has found a real home from home at the club, making many lifelong friends along the way.  On top of this, he takes us through how the London Welsh careers hub helped him find his next role and set him up with a mentor from the club. Girls 15.1 Head Coach, NEVBC Founder​After a decorated playing career, co-founder and director Cat Dailey Minyard is passing along her volleyball expertise to the next generation of athletes in the Northeast. Cat has previously been an assistant coach for her alma mater, Yale University, as well as Amherst College. She is now the ESPN+ broadcast analyst for the Yale women's volleyball home matches. She is also a Lead Coach for Gold Medal Squared, the leaders in volleyball coaches' education and training, and has presented at the AVCA Convention on the topics of college recruiting and club management. Before founding Northeast Volleyball Club with her husband Garrett, Cat played professional volleyball in the Italian Serie A league for Volley Millenium Brescia, leading her team to a 25-7 record and winning the 2018 Italian A2 Championship. Before Italy, Cat completed her master's degree in Entrepreneurship at Durham University in the U.K., while also leading Durham to two national championships and capturing league MVP honors.​Originally from Southern California, Cat was a Top 20 college recruit nationally after competing at the highest level of club volleyball with Laguna Beach Volleyball Club. She played for Cal Berkeley for two years, including an NCAA Final Four appearance in 2007, before transferring to Yale. At Yale, Cat was the unanimous selection for the 2008 Ivy League MVP and an AVCA All-Region honoree, and she led the team to an NCAA tournament postseason win over Ohio.As a coach, Cat specializes in developing athletes with a high “volleyball IQ” who understand how the game works at the highest levels. At Northeast, Cat guides the NEVBC Directors and has served as Head Coach at the U12, U14, U15, U16, and U17 Girls levels, as well as assistant coaching in the Boys Club program. Cat is also the NEVBC Director of College Recruiting, where her goal is to find the right fit for all Northeast athletes who want to play after high school. In that role, Cat has helped over 60 NEVBC athletes go on to play in college since 2018 at all levels, from the ACC to the Patriot League to the NESCAC.

The GAA's decision to end the practice of allowing U16s to attend games for free has created a lot of debate in recent days. They will charge U16s €5 per game for next season's Allianz League Division One and Two games in both codes - 1A and 1B in hurling. This will be an extension of the financial arrangement that exists for Championship games, with higher prices set for the latter stages of the All-Ireland series. The GAA said it reserves the right to increase these prices for games that may reach capacity. U16 tickets can only be purchased with an adult ticket, while juveniles can still avail of free admission to Division Three and Four football and Division Two and Three hurling games.
