The first episode of Qiological aired at the end of August in 2017. I'd gotten more than a few emails from practitioners telling me how much they liked my previous podcast experiment…. Everyday Acupuncture, and that was surprising to me because I did not make that podcast for acupuncturists, it was aimed at the general public. So Qiological was an inquiry into seeing if acupuncturists and East Asian medicine practitioners might enjoy a podcast that goes more deeply into the medicine we share. Turns out…. Yes. As we are coming up on 300 conversations now. Starting today, the podcast is again freely available to all and will carry sponsorship advertising in each episode. I've got more details about the changes to the podcast in this short solo show that commemorates five years of Qiological, along with some thoughts on medicine, practice and this new Gutenberg Press we call podcasting.

Where were you twenty five years ago today? Most people over the age of 30 will remember where they were and what they were doing when they heard about the death of the "people's princess". A new generation of royals have taken her place, but many of the tensions between what the monarchy represents and what the public want from it remain. Social anthropologist Dr Susan Wardell says Princess Diana's death was a cultural flashpoint. She spoke to Corin Dann.

Banning petrol cars in five years - does it pass the pub test?
Sydneysiders are being told they need to change the way they live under a radical new plan to decarbonise the nation's most populous city. Petrol and diesel cars would be banned in just five years' time and there should be no new gas connections to buildings across the city, a Committee for Sydney proposal suggests. Under the plan, gas connections would be phased out from 2035 and there should be no new gas appliances by 2030. The influential body of business leaders and infrastructure experts have said that without more aggressive action the state will fail to meet its 2030 or 2050 targets. “NSW's climate policies are leading the nation, but this research is a wakeup call that Sydney's not on track for net zero – we've got plenty of work to do,” committee spokesman Sam Kernaghan said. “To halve emissions by 2030, the only levers big enough to make a real difference are getting many more electric vehicles on the road, and reducing the carbon intensity of the energy we use. “Both come with big social, logistical and political challenges, but the reduced energy bills that come with electrifying transport and buildings will be worth it.” To achieve the projected reductions, the committee said that there needed twice the amount of electric vehicles on the road than the Steady Transition approach calls for. All government and commercial fleets should be converted to electric vehicles by 2030. “A petrol and diesel car sales ban, announced well in advance, would also send a clear signal to industry that EV charging, servicing and supply chain networks need to be in place,” the report states. Modelling by the urban policy think tank released with the report said on average a household could save around $1250 a year in fuel costs if they could afford to make the switch. A home battery could reduce those bills by a further $850 per year, and converting gas appliances to electric could save another $150 per year on average. Endeavour Energy chief executive Guy Chalkley forecast that by 2027 more than 1.3 million electric vehicles will be on its network by 2040. “Our customers are telling us that they want to take control of their energy to suit their individual circumstances and want us to ensure the grid is ready for this transformational change,” he said. “We must take stock of the short-term volatility in the economy and cost of living pressures whilst now taking the opportunity to reposition the electricity system to achieve balanced long term customer outcomes.” The report also recommended expanding rental and apartment access to rooftop solar and battery storage. - by Courtney Gould, news.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

"In social philosophy, objectification is the act of treating a person, or sometimes an animal,[1] as an object or a thing. It is part of dehumanization, the act of disavowing the humanity of others. Sexual objectification, the act of treating a person as a mere object of sexual desire, is a subset of objectification, as is self-objectification, the objectification of one's self. In Marxism, the objectification of social relationships is discussed as "reification". "According to Martha Nussbaum, a person is objectified if one or more of the following properties are applied to them:[2] Instrumentality – treating the person as a tool for another's purposes Denial of autonomy – treating the person as lacking in autonomy or self-determination Inertness – treating the person as lacking in agency or activity Fungibility – treating the person as interchangeable with (other) objects Violability – treating the person as lacking in boundary integrity and violable, "as something that it is permissible to break up, smash, break into." Ownership – treating the person as though they can be owned, bought, or sold (such as slavery) Denial of subjectivity – treating the person as though there is no need for concern for their experiences or feelings Rae Langton proposed three more properties to be added to Nussbaum's list:[3] Reduction to body – the treatment of a person as identified with their body, or body parts Reduction to appearance – the treatment of a person primarily in terms of how they look, or how they appear to the senses Silencing – the treatment of a person as if they are silent, lacking the capacity to speak." Damon and Ratto discuss the issues the San Francisco 49ers have had at the quarterback position over the last five years.
“Associate – An associate is not a member of the Mafia, but works for a crime family nonetheless. Associates can include a wide range of people who work for the family. An associate can have a wide range of duties, from virtually carrying out the same duties as a soldier to being a simple errand boy. This is where prospective mobsters ("connected guys") start out to prove their worth. Once a crime family is accepting new members, the best associates of Italian descent are evaluated and picked to become soldiers. An associate can also be a criminal who serves as a go-between in criminal transactions or sometimes deals in drugs to keep police attention off the actual members, or they can simply be people the family does business with (restaurant owners, etc.) In other cases, an associate might be a corrupt labor union delegate or businessman.[66] Non-Italians will never go any further than this, although many non-Italian associates of the Mafia, such as Meyer Lansky, Bugsy Siegel, Murray Humphreys, Mickey Cohen, Frank Rosenthal, Gus Alex, Bumpy Johnson, Frank Sheeran, Jimmy Hoffa, Jake Guzik, Gerard Ouimette, and James Burke, wielded extreme power within their respective crime families and carried the respect of actual Mafia members. Soldier (Soldato in Italian) – A soldato or “soldier” is an inducted (or “made”) member of the Mafia in general and an inducted member of a particular Mafia crime family, and traditionally they can only be of full Italian background (although today many families require men to be of only half Italian descent, on their father's side). Once a member is made he is untouchable, meaning permission from a soldier's boss must be given before he is murdered. When the books are open, meaning that a family is accepting new members, a made man may recommend an up-and-coming associate to be a new soldier. Soldiers are the main workers of the family, usually committing crimes like assault, murder, extortion, intimidation, etc. In return, they are given profitable rackets to run by their superiors and have full access to their family's connections and power. Consigliere – The consigliere is an advisor to the family and sometimes seen as the boss's "right-hand man". He is used as a mediator of disputes and often acts as a representative or aide for the family in meetings with other families, rival criminal organizations, and important business associates. In practice, the consigliere is normally the third-ranking member of the administration of a family and was traditionally a senior member carrying the utmost respect of the family and deeply familiar with the inner-workings of the organization. A boss will often appoint a trusted close friend or personal advisor as his official consigliere. Caporegime (or capo) – A caporegime (also captain or skipper) is in charge of a crew, a group of soldiers who report directly to him. Each crew usually contains 10–20 soldiers and many more associates. A capo is appointed by the boss and reports to him or the underboss. A captain gives a percentage of his (and his underlings') earnings to the boss and is also responsible for any tasks assigned, including murder. In labor racketeering, it is usually a capo who controls the infiltration of union locals. If a capo becomes powerful enough, he can sometimes wield more power than some of his superiors. In cases like Anthony Corallo they might even bypass the normal Mafia structure and lead the family when the boss dies.” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

In that same crime world, I saw this: “Jewellery or jewelry consists of decorative items worn for personal adornment, such as brooches, rings, necklaces, earrings, pendants, bracelets, and cufflinks. Jewellery may be attached to the body or the clothes. From a western perspective, the term is restricted to durable ornaments, excluding flowers for example. For many centuries metal such as gold often combined with gemstones, has been the normal material for jewellery, but other materials such as shells and other plant materials may be used.” In that same crime world, I saw: “Designer clothing is expensive luxury clothing considered to be high quality and haute couture for the general public, made by, or carrying the label of, a well-known fashion designer.” I also saw this in that crime world: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxury.” I witnessed statutory rapes, unsafe abortions, the street version of capital punishment, the living large/MTV Cribs lifestyles, assisted suicide, euthanasia, and teen pregnancies in that world, being inside of tattoo parlors, being in red-light districts, the deadbeat dads made the moms single moms. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

If you want to become your true Future Self, you MUST be relentlessly committed to the things that matter. Because it won't happen overnight, it won't happen without failures, and it won't happen the way you think it will. Personally speaking, when it comes to MY one precious life, when it comes to being ALIVE in my life instead of surviving my life…absolutely relentless. Once I realized this about myself, I started thinking about all the other areas of my life that I've experienced transformation in. The key was being relentlessly committed to the things that REALLY mattered. I didn't want to be in a marriage where I groaned every time my husband came home from work. I want to be HAPPY when I hear that garage door open. If I'm gonna be with this person ALL the time, I want it to feel like I GET to have a forever sleepover. So, I worked relentlessly on the things I needed to work on. It MATTERED to me to create a home that felt nurturing and calm. So I relentlessly committed to decluttering and cleaning EVEN when it felt like it was taking forever and I had two very little kiddos and approximately 20 minutes a day to work on it. Deep friendship connections MATTERED to me. Being part of a community of powerful women mattered to me, so I relentlessly pursued it – albeit in a non-creepy way. I had big audacious goals for my coaching business because it MATTERS to me that more women learn how to be empowered, set boundaries, stop people pleasing and energy managing so they LOVE their life so I relentlessly committed to creating this. It took me FIVE YEARS to really gain any traction but I never stopped. I stopped TONS of projects, tons of hobbies, tons of special interests. But I never stopped my coaching trajectory. If you want to become your Future Self, manifest a life you love, you MUST be relentlessly committed because it's NOT going to happen overnight, it's NOT going to happen without LOTS of failures and it's NOT going to happen the way you think it will. Today I'm going to share with you the most COMMON obstacles that take us off the relentlessly committed path. Because your relentless self is in there, and her path is waiting. AND. “In ordinary language, a crime is an unlawful act punishable by a state or other authority.[1] The term crime does not, in modern criminal law, have any simple and universally accepted definition,[2] though statutory definitions have been provided for certain purposes.[3] The most popular view is that crime is a category created by law; in other words, something is a crime if declared as such by the relevant and applicable law.[2] One proposed definition is that a crime or offence (or criminal offence) is an act harmful not only to some individual but also to a community, society, or the state ("a public wrong"). Such acts are forbidden and punishable by law.[1][4]” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support
Well, what should I say about myself here? Everything you would want to know - or maybe did not even want to know - has been said in the interview. I would never have imagined that I will be able to talk to the most important authors, occultists, magicians etc. in the field of Western Esoteric Traditions here. Music played in this episode A very personal music choice of course here for this episode - well, I took the liberty... ENJOY! 1) NIMROD - FROM "ENIGMA VARIATIONS" by Edward Elgar In this version the great Leonard Bernstein conducts the BBC London Symphony Orchestra. It is probably the slowest version ever recorded of that piece but what an incredible tension and emotion he creates like that - only he could do that! (Track starts at 5:59) 2) FINALE FROM THE OPERA "DIE TOTE STADT" - Erich Wolfgang Korngold This is a live recording made about twenty years ago in what was then "my" opera house, the Strasbourg Opera national du Rhin. I was the General and Artistic Director then, so this production is kind of my child. And I think Torsten Kerl sings these final minutes so beautifully - and I LOVE this opera. So I had to share it. (Track starts at 44:20) 3) MAKE YOU FEEL MY LOVE - Emily Linge This song is originally by Bob Dylan, but was famously covered by the great Adele. “Understand the risks of PCP At low to moderate doses, PCP can cause distinct changes in body awareness, similar to those associated with alcohol intoxication, as well as generalized numbness of the hands and feet and poor muscular coordination. At high doses, PCP can cause hallucinations as well as seizures, coma, and death (though death more often results from accidental injury or suicide during PCP intoxication). High doses can also cause effects similar to symptoms of schizophrenia, such as delusions, paranoia, disordered thinking, a sensation of distance from one's environment, and catatonia. Speech is often sparse and garbled. PCP has sedative effects, and interactions with other central nervous system depressants, such as alcohol and benzodiazepines, can lead to coma or accidental overdose. Many people who use PCP are brought to emergency rooms because of PCP's unpleasant psychological effects or because of overdoses. In a hospital or detention setting, they often become violent or suicidal, and are very dangerous to themselves and to others. They should be kept in a calm setting and should not be left alone. PCP is addictive; that is, its repeated use often leads to psychological dependence, craving and compulsive PCP-seeking behavior. People who use PCP for long periods report memory loss, difficulties with speech and thinking, depression, and weight loss. These symptoms can persist up to a year after they stop using PCP. Mood disorders also have been reported.” I was forced to sell PCP and angel dust by drug traffickers at five years of age. I saw deadly shootouts in drug houses and high crime communities as a result of my being forced to do “organized crime.” --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support
