Retired Intelligence Detective Gary Jenkins brings you the best in mob history with his unique perception of the mafia. In this episode of Gangland Wire, host Gary Jenkins interviews the prolific chronicler of the American Mafia, Jeffrey Sussman. Listeners will learn about Morris levy and the mafia's influence on the roots of the world's most important cultural influences, American Rock and Roll. Two of the most important men who influenced the rise of rock and roll were Morris Levy and Alan Freed. Levy had close ties with the Genovese crime family. Levy was the notorious head of the record label Roulette Records. Reportedly, Morris Levy used illicit money from the family to fund his businesses, with several members of the mob said to be present at his meetings. At the time, Freed and other corrupt Disc Jockeys corrupted the entire industry with their "pay for play" of records, which became known as "Payola." Morris Levy terrorized young performers into giving up thier royalities. Meyer Lansky, AKA the “mob's accountant,” was one of the most successful mafiosos in history and had many investments in jukeboxes. Reportedly, he “controlled every Wurlitzer jukebox in the New York area”. So too, did the Chicago Outfit (who rose to power under Al Capone) have many dealings with Lansky and his jukeboxes. A mob history book, The Outfit, argues that the Wurlitzer Corporation accused Lansky and his Chicago associates of disrupting the distribution of Wurlitzer jukeboxes. The Outfit is also said to have worked closely with Jules Stein, head of the Music Corporation of America. Apparently, Stein, the mob, MCA, and Meyer Lansky had all worked at least in some form with the mob fixer Sidney Korshak, a prominent mafia name in Los Angeles. In this episode of Gangland Wire, host Gary Jenkins interviews Chris Franzblau, author of The Last Mob Lawyer. Franzblau represented Meyer Lansky in his deportation hearing, he represented Genovese labor racketeers like Anthony “Tony Pro” Provenzano and Jerry Catena. He knew Jimmy Hoffa very well. Chris shares his remarkable career as a defense attorney for prominent figures in organized crime, offering a firsthand look at the legal battles that have shaped mob history in his book, The Last Mob Lawyer: True Stories from the Man Who Defended Some of the Biggest Names in Organized Crime. The conversation begins with Franzblau's background—his education at Duke University Law School, service in the Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corps, and training in cryptography. He then details his transition from prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office to private practice, coinciding with the federal government's intensified pursuit of La Cosa Nostra under Attorney General Robert Kennedy. A twist of fate led him to represent high-profile mobsters when established defense attorneys left the scene, catapulting him into the world of organized crime defense. Franzblau shares captivating stories of his legal work with infamous figures like labor leader Jerry Catena and Anthony “Tony Pro” Provenzano. He sheds light on mob influence in unions and high-stakes power struggles, including the bitter feud between Anthony “Tony Pro” Provenzano and Jimmy Hoffa. He also discusses the FBI's controversial surveillance tactics, J. Edgar Hoover's wiretapping strategies, and how landmark legal battles helped expose the government's overreach in investigating organized crime. Adding to the intrigue, Franzblau touches on the mob's connections to Hollywood and celebrities, including Frank Sinatra's complex ties to the underworld. He also offers a compelling story surrounding Jimmy Hoffa's disappearance, hinting at new information that could reshape the narrative. Throughout the episode, Franzblau offers insight into the ethical dilemmas of defending mobsters, debunking the myths that attorneys are complicit in their clients' activities. He also weighs in on the handling of Teamsters' pension funds, contrasting transparency in his experience with the corruption seen in other cities. This episode is a must-listen for true crime enthusiasts, mafia history buffs, and legal minds alike. Many of you know that a B'nai B'rith organization gave birth to the ADL while defending its Atlanta chapter president Leo Frank. Frank raped and murdered a 13 year old girl who he was also employing along with many other teens, against child labor laws. Leo Frank ran a pencil factory sweatshop and often flirted with his illegal underage employees. The ADL was formed to defend him when he murdered and raped Mary Phagan. The details were disgusting. Her underwear was ripped and bloody and she was strangled to death with a wire. Her head had also been pummeled with a pipe. She went to get her paycheck of a meager $1.20 and never returned home. She was raped and murdered and then her body was dragged to the basement. Police found strands of her hair and blood on the floor above right across from Frank's office. Frank nervously revealed the victims name in front of police before they had given him any such details. The ADL was going to get him released based purely on the fact that He was Jewish and a high profile crime made Jews look bad. Arguably a Jewish organization trying to get a child murderer off the hook, makes Jews look worse. They would like one to believe that he was innocent with fake news history and will tell you so on Wikipedia which has Israelis paid to edit it. Leo admitted on the witness stand to the jury that he was “unconsciously” at the scene of the crime when the murder occurred. What we don't know, is if he raped her before or after killing her. The grand jury voted 21 – 0 for indicting him. Four of those jurors were Jewish. That shouldn't matter, but it does because later the ADL would try to argue that the jury wrongly convicted him because of antisemitism rather than because all the evidence showed that he did it in everyone's eyes. He was convicted. After the Judge, Leonard Roan, rejected all the appeals, he ordered Leo to be hanged on his birthday April 17, 1913. However Frank who was unanimously elected president of the B'nai Brith Chapter again even after being convicted of rape and murder had one last method to weasel out. He with Jewish pressure groups, appealed to the Governor. The lame-duck governor, John M. Slaton, in a very Clinton-esk move, commuted Leo's sentence his last week in office. He changed it from the death penalty to life in prison.Frank was knifed in prison by an inmate who took justice into their own hands. William Creen used a butcher knife and cut Leo's throat severely injuring him. On August 16th a mob broke into the prison captured Leo Frank and took him 2 miles away and hanged him. Although they took photographs no one in town would identify them. Of course the ADL twisted the story to say that these men were motivated by antisemitism and not that they hated him for raping and murdering a child. To see Southern Justice click hereThe ADL would fight to have him given a posthumous pardon which he got in 1986. Fred Grimm of the Miami Herald said in response to the pardon, “A salve for one of the South's most hateful, festering memories, was finally applied” showing his own prejudice towards the South rather than admitting a well known exploiter of child labor, who raped and killed a young girl and was unanimously convicted for the crime and sentenced to death was killed even after weaseling a pardon by an outgoing governor. Fred Grimm is constantly chasing down and doing stories about “Neo-Confederates” and “Neo-Nazis” as if either one are some huge bane and influence in modern society. Ironically it is groups like Antifa who act like ISIS tearing down American Statues and assaulting people. Despite having entire cities burned civilian homes and all by Lincoln's terrorists, not once in 150 years has a Southerner attacked a Union monument. Yelling racism at everything is fun though because it exercises safe moral indignation. That the US recently invaded Libya and have caused a country to be run by Al Qaeda terrorists who have revived the institution of slavery, selling humans for $400 in the market, doesn't seem to bother these same people so much as statues of Confederate generals. Apparently the Union military generals like Custer who rode west and committed genocide on Native Americans immediately following the Civil War, or enslaving the Chinese to build railroads, doesn't count as racism either. The ADL itself was created with Jewish mafia money. With connections to Meyer Lansky, Moe Dalitz, Bugsy Siegal, and illegal arms trafficker Hank Greenspun. The ADL gave Jewish gangster Moe Dalitz the Torch of Liberty Award. Dalitz was partnered with Galvastan's Sam Marceo and his brother Rosario of international narcotic trafficking fame. Dalitz and Sam began with a bootlegging gig. And it was the Maceo brothers who with Dalitz financed the Desert Inn Casio (where Frank Sinatra got his first Vegas gig). Interesting note, Sam's sister Olivia married Joseph Fertitta. You probably know the famous former owners of the UFC Frank III and Lorenzo Fertitta. They're all “family”. Maceo died only a year after purchasing the casino and it quickly went into the Fertitta side of the family. Dalitz not only did business with Maceo, he ran with the Mayfield Road gang in Ohio who had a branch dubbed the Collinwood Crew nicknamed the Young Turks. This is a very fitting name considering that the ADL denies the Armenian genocide. They even fired a New England Director Andrew H. Tarsy because he broke rank and called it a genocide. See killing 1,500,000 people isn't genocide because nothing is allowed to compete with the Holocaust victimhood.Moe Dalitz at Desert InnDalitz was an early business partner with Abe Berstien of the murderous Purple Gang. They used to murder motorists for sport. That didn't bother the ADL. In 1985 they gave Moe an award. Moe would become the Mob Boss of Cleveland, even tough most of his operations would move and center on Vegas. His businesses however were all over the United States. Dalitz was not only a close confidant of Meyer Lansky, the two co-owned the Frolic Club in Miami. (p.6)The Desert Inn casino also took investments from convicted illegal arms smuggler Hank Greenspun, who was not only invested but became the publicist as well. He owned the Las Vegas Sun and pulled a money laundering scheme with advertising that was similar to what Boris Berezovsky repeated in Russia. Prior to that, he had been the publicist for another Mafia Casino, the Flamingo, which was run by Lanksy's childhood friend and murderer Bugsy Siegal. Greenspun's wife was given top honors by the ADL. Her husband attempted to smuggle 42 Pratt and Whitney R2800 LOW airplane engines to Palestine when the Haganah terrorist group was creating the state of Israel through ethnic cleansing. After jury tampering, with the sole Jewish Juror meeting with the defense, Greenspun and two of his cohorts William Sosnow, and Samuel Lewis were acquitted, but his other partners Adolph Schwimmer, Leon Gardner, Renoyld Selk, and Abraham Levin, were convicted. But Greenspun would be found guilty of smuggling the machine guns that would go with the planes as well as artillery and ammo. He stole 30 and 50 cal machine guns from Hawaii and shipped them to the Haganah in Palestine through Mexico. When he was indicted Greenspun tried to bribe his way out. He offered $25,000 to Seth Solomon Pope “or anyone else designated by Pope” to “quash” a second Neutrality Act indictment against him. Solomon worked in Hawaii at the War Assets Administration, in charge of decommissioning and selling off WWII surplus. He was most likely the original contact for the smuggling. The man was investigated three time for fraudulent sales. They also stole over 500 machine gun barrels. Reportedly Hank took an addition 10% Kickback from arms sales he made. A Grand Jury in Los Angeles indicted Hank and six other of violating the Neutrality Act and Export Control Law, Title 50 United States Code section 701 and Title 22 United Stated Code, section 452. However he got only a 10k fine and no jail time. Greenspun was paid through the SSE. The SSE was a front for the AJDC's Lishka which financed communist and Bricha illegal immigration. The Jewish Agency which was the government in waiting that organized the terrorist groups that formed Israel, facilitated the cash flow to gun runners like Hank. In “Concealed in the Open: Recipients of International Clandestine Jewish Aid in Early 1950s Hungary” Zachary Paul Levine, of Yeshiva University Museum writes.“The JDC-Israeli collaboration that formed around clandestine emigration to Israel and welfare to migrants filled the vacuum with the creation of two institutions. The first was created in 1952 by the Israeli government's Liaison Bureau of the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or Lishka by its Hebrew acronym, which collected information and administered individual aid. The second was created in Switzerland in 1953. Known as the Society for Mutual Aid (SSE by its French acronym), this organization directed AJDC funds to the Lishka and represented Jewish aid providers' interests to communist governments” …”However, as an American organization at the height of the McCarthy “Red Scare,” AJDC administrators could hardly justify the appearance of sending cash or material into a state with which the U.S. was technically engaged in “economic warfare.” In March 1953, the AJDC and Lishka together established the SSE, a “paper organization” that “covered” the AJDC-Israeli partnership, and provided a means for regularized AJDC funding for Lishka from the Joint's Relief-in-Transit budget that funded activities that might have contravened U.S. law (Beizer 2009: 117). The SSE's Swiss chairman, Erwin Haymann, had years of experience channeling money from the U.S. for Bricha and other clandestine activities. Funds traveled through the SSE and on to Lishka agents who received U.S. dollars or another western currency and exchanged them into Hungarian forints on the black market in Vienna. Subsequently, these forints traveled via diplomatic pouch or in the suitcase of an apparent traveler to the legation in Budapest, whose staff distributed the cash around the country.”We learned from declassified FBI documents that Erwin Haymann, the same man aiding communist on behalf of the JA is who made three transfers of 1.3 million dollars to Greenspun. Greenspun would later become the Western Director of bonds for Israel. Haymann sent the payments to Banco del Ahorro, Mexico by cable.Interesting, because 1.3 million is exactly how much Moe Dalitz sank into the Desert Inn Casino, which Greenspun was a publicist for and invested in, what a coincidence. If you are into Kennedy Research here is a cookie for you. Hungarian Jew Tibor Rosenbaum is the bridge between Meyer Lansky, Erwin Haymann, and heavy Florida-Cuba crime syndicate. …But I will leave that tangent alone. Greespun was known for having blackmail on political candidates, Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy even plotted to raid on the Vegas Sun vault in order to gain access to blackmail that Hank had on Howard Hughes. Hughes by the way bought Mafia properties like the Desert Inn Casino using millions in cash. They credit him with cleaning Vegas up from the mob, it was more like the mob took him to the cleaners. Dalitz ironically started out with a cash only dry cleaning business.Kennedy whose father was involved with the Outfit and the East Coast mob and who had a love affair with his friend Frank Sinatra's ex-girlfriend Judith Exner while she was also involved with Chicago mob boss Sam Giacanna. Sinatra introduced her to JFK. Kennedy gave Greenspun a pardon his first year in office. I wonder why. LBJ likewise was sleeping with Mathilde Krim who was also part of the Swiss connection who help Irgun terrorist. Johnson did all this while she was married to his campaign advisor Athur Krim, a willing cuck. It makes you rethink Monica Lewinsky doesn't it. Well Clinton did give Jewish Billionaire Marc Rich a pardon, after Rich donated $100,000 to the ADL. Rich was yet another crook in the Swiss connection. These are the founders and reward recipients of the ADL. The ADL was given defacto powers of an intelligence agency in the United State and it gathers intel on who it pleases. It is anything but an Anti-Defamation League. They defame people themselves. The ADL under the cover of fighting Anti-Semitism, simply uses this cry as a club to chase down and censor anyone critical of Zionism or the Israeli state. If you point out that Israeli snipers are shooting children in Palestine from across the border, then the ADL can get you removed. Vimeo stole $5,000 in profits from me and erased six years worth of my work because of my criticism of Israel. When the ADL partnered with YouTube December of 2008, my channel was gone the first day, and over a thousand videos were erased. No justification was needed, simply the accusation of antisemitism. When I made a complaint in my appeal I learned that the ADL would oversee the case. Of course I never had my channel restored nor was I even given an explanation from YouTube. Another wing of the ADL is the SPLC and they too have been granted censorship powers across social media. The ADL used the SPLC as both an attack dog and a buffer to separate itself from ramifications of its constant chicken little censorship. In the rare case of actual antisemitic groups online or otherwise the ADL has been busted reacting to its own creations as the “Nazis” they screech about turn out to be their own provocateurs.Birthed to defend a murdering child rapist, financed by mass murdering terrorists and organized crime, narcotic peddling, gun running, psychopaths formed the pro Zionist organizational bully called the ADL. They have been caught spying through American police departments, spying on American citizens, and even coaching American police on what they should be on the look out for and how Hate Crime means anything Israel doesn't like. And this is their great online weapon. The Zog Media already refuses to report on what Israel is doing to Palestine, the Israeli role in orchestrating the Iraq War, and the Proxy War on Syria. People have been giving the information online. Naturally the ADL has been censoring such journalist all while screaming antisemitism. AIPAC bribes congress and the ADL censors the media. It is a one two punch to protect criminal Zionists interest. And now you know its criminal origins. This is a public episode. In Part Two of our deep-dive biography on Paul "The Waiter" Ricca, we chronicle his ascent to the top of the Chicago Outfit from the late 1940s through the early 1970s — a reign that cemented his legacy as one of the most powerful and influential mob bosses in American history.Listen to Part One: https://youtu.be/D2S-22pslCAThis episode picks up with Ricca serving time in Atlanta Federal Penitentiary following his conviction in the infamous Hollywood extortion case — a racket that siphoned millions from the motion picture industry during the 1930s and 1940s. We explore Ricca's brutal prison experience under Warden Joseph Sanford, a notorious white supremacist who cracked down on Italian inmates, and how Ricca's allies on the outside — including Tony Accardo and Murray "The Camel" Humphreys — pulled political strings and greased palms to orchestrate his early transfer to Leavenworth and eventual release after serving only three years.Once back in Chicago, Ricca quietly shared power with Tony Accardo in one of the most successful power-sharing arrangements in Mafia history. While Accardo handled day-to-day operations, Ricca became the Outfit's elder statesman — making high-level decisions, approving hits, and shaping the organization's future from behind the scenes. The two men orchestrated the Outfit's expansion into Las Vegas, using Teamsters pension loans and alliances with Meyer Lansky to finance casinos like The Stardust, Desert Inn, and Riviera — creating a multimillion-dollar pipeline of skimmed cash that flowed directly into Chicago's coffers for decades.Despite his low profile, Ricca remained a prime target for law enforcement. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, he fought off tax evasion charges, perjury indictments, and a relentless deportation campaign that sought to return him to Italy — where he had been convicted of two murders in his youth. His decade-long legal battle to avoid deportation became one of the longest-running immigration cases in American history, with Ricca outmaneuvering authorities at every turn.As law enforcement pressure mounted, Ricca and Accardo made the strategic decision to promote Sam "Momo" Giancana as front boss of the Chicago Outfit in the mid-1950s — allowing the brash and flashy Giancana to become the lightning rod for law enforcement while Ricca and Accardo continued pulling the strings from the shadows. But Giancana's high-profile lifestyle, affairs with celebrities, and erratic leadership style caused turmoil within the Outfit. By the mid-1960s, Ricca and Accardo had seen enough, orchestrating Giancana's ouster and restoring order to the organization.During this era, Ricca rubbed shoulders with and mentored some of the Outfit's most notorious figures, including Murray Humphreys, Gus Alex, Ralph Pierce, Sam Battaglia, Willie Daddano, and Felix "Milwaukee Phil" Alderisio. He also played a pivotal role in grooming the next generation of Chicago gangsters — including the fearsome enforcer Marshall Caifano and the psychopathic loan shark Sam "Mad Sam" DeStefano.Even into his 70s, Ricca's influence never waned. He remained the ultimate consigliere of the Chicago Outfit — a man whose word was law and whose wisdom guided the Outfit's rackets from Chicago to Las Vegas. This episode breaks down how Ricca's strategic brilliance, political connections, and ruthless pragmatism helped him outlast nearly all of his contemporaries and solidified his place as one of the most underrated and powerful mobsters in American history.00:00:00 Start00:00:42 Opening Remarks00:01:37 Cliff-Notes of Part One00:07:24 The Waiter's Time in Prison (Mid-to-Late 1940's)00:28:15 Co-Boss of The Outfit (Late 1940's and 1950's)01:17:20 Running the Chicago Outfit (Keeping Control in the 1960's)02:13:56 Late Career & Legacy (The 1970's)02:23:16 Closing Remarks
In this episode, retired Intelligence Unit detective Gary Jenkins talks with Eric Dezenhall, an author and former Reagan's White House aide, about his new book, Wiseguys and the White House. Eric shares his unique perspective on the fascinating and often overlooked intersection of organized crime and American politics. His curiosity on the subject began with a seemingly casual remark from a colleague about mafia influence in his hometown of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. As a young aide in the Reagan administration, that moment set him on a path to explore how deeply organized crime has intertwined itself with the fabric of American society and government. Throughout the conversation, Eric discusses how perceptions of mobsters have shifted over the decades. In the early 20th century, gangsters were often seen as vital community figures. They provided services like gambling and liquor during Prohibition—illegal but in high demand—and were viewed as filling a societal need. By the 1970s, however, that image began to unravel. Organized crime became a symbol of decay, corruption, and violence, far removed from the Robin Hood-like aura it once carried. Eric brings to life the stories of legendary mob figures like Meyer Lansky, detailing Lansky's surprising role during World War II. Lansky, alongside other organized crime figures, worked with the U.S. Navy to prevent Nazi sabotage along the East Coast. Eric explains how this alliance complicates the narrative of mobsters as purely criminal; during wartime, they were sometimes perceived as patriotic contributors to the national effort. Their involvement underscores the ambiguity surrounding these figures, who operated in both legitimate and illegal spheres. As the conversation moves into modern times, Eric discusses how organized crime continues to influence political and business landscapes. He points to figures like Donald Trump, who openly acknowledged the realities of navigating a business world shaped by organized crime in cities like New York. Eric also examines how presidents such as Reagan, Nixon, JFK, and Joe Biden managed relationships with organized crime—relationships that, while morally complex, often played a role in advancing their careers and shaping American politics in lasting ways. This episode offers a compelling look at the intersection of crime, politics, and history through Eric Dezenhall's sharp insights and years of research. By sharing stories of infamous mobsters and pivotal historical moments, Eric reveals a side of organized crime that is often forgotten: its influence on the nation's leadership and its occasional alignment with patriotic causes. It's a conversation that challenges our assumptions, blending history, politics, and crime into a nuanced and captivating narrative. Ger Eric's books. See other books by clicking here. In this last interview with our good friend and contributor, Camillus "Cam" Robinson, Gary and Cam discuss the infamous government informant Vincent "Vinnie" Teresa. Cam died recently and I will feel this loss for a long time. His gentle nature and prodigious work effort was always a great benfit to the podcast and to everybody around him. Rest in Peace to my friend and collaborator in this crazy world of mafia history. Camillus was a great historian and an excellent writer. Check out his book by clicking on the title, Chicago Swan Song: A Mob Wife's Story. Lisa Swan became the wife of Frank Calabrese, Jr., a collector for his father, the notorious and brutal Frank “Frankie the Breeze” Calabrese, a high-ranking member of the infamous Chinatown Crew. It's all here. The money, the violence, the drugs, the greed, and the murders that surrounded her, as well as her deep passion to break free from a lifestyle that could change with the flash of a single bullet. Swan's firsthand, intimate look inside the insular and secretive Chicago Outfit details her life inside the Calabrese Clan, one of the First Families of the Chicago Mob. She describes, with clarity and occasional humor, her discovery of the dark side of the Mafia and her battle to save herself, her children, and eventually her husband from the gritty realities of the Mob. Vinnie Teresa is one of the earliest mob books I ever read. I'll never forget, Kim. I was in a library in the junior college. I must have been taking a class and I was just poking around. I found this book about the mafia. I wasn't into organized crime at the time. I started reading this book about this Vinnie Teresa and all the stuff that he talked about,
In this episode, Gary Jenkins interviews Kansas City-based screenwriter and author John Sanders, who brings compelling insights into the life of Owney Madden—a notorious figure in organized crime. As a former Kansas City police detective, I've always been fascinated by mob history, and John's unique perspective, intertwined with personal family stories, provides a captivating look into Madden's life. We trace Madden's journey from his early days with the Gophers gang in New York City to his days as a respected citizen in Hot Springs, Arkansas. John shares gripping tales of Madden's resilience, including surviving multiple gunshots, which underscore the brutal realities of the gangster lifestyle. Madden's transformation from street thug to savvy businessman during Prohibition paints a picture of a man whose rise to power was fueled by sharp business instincts and connections with major players like Frank Costello. Our conversation explores Madden's partnerships with colorful characters, including Big Frenchy DeMange, Lucky Luciano, and Meyer Lansky, as he navigated the cutthroat world of organized crime. From his ownership of the famed Cotton Club to his brewery, Madden's ventures reveal the strategic moves that solidified his influence in 1920s New York. We also discuss Madden's eventual downfall and the power struggles that led to dramatic events, such as Mad Dog Coll's kidnapping of Big Frenchy. This episode ultimately sealed Coll's fate. These stories shed light on the treacherous nature of mob alliances, where loyalty is fleeting and betrayals are often fatal. Finally, John delves into Madden's later years in Hot Springs, where he became a respected figure in the community. His transition from notorious gangster to local businessman highlights redemption themes and human behavior's complexities. Alongside John's family anecdotes, we discuss Hot Springs as a place of historical intrigue—a resort town with a darker past as a haven for mobsters. Tune in to this fascinating conversation on Owney Madden's life and legacy as we unravel the cultural and historical threads that make his story unforgettable. Subscribe to the PPM Patreon to access the entirety of Dossiers #4.A, #4.B, & #5. I would not be able to sustain this project without your support. Thank you so very much. patreon.com/ParaPowerMapping This installment especially revolves around Chuck D's recent appointment as Global Music Ambassador, the headlining act in a Jazz Ambassadors rebrand that has been jointly organized by Anthony Blinken's (a genocidaire directly connected to Ghislaine Maxwell via his stepdad Samuel Pisar who repped Robert Maxwell) State Department & Zion·ist Lyor Cohen's Youtube... The second major aspect of this "Dossier" would be our cracking open of the Diddler's leaked party album, which takes us down some dark alleys indeed. Providing further Zion·ist links via his attendance at Guy Oseary's Jews Who Rock party, we also happen upon two incredibly cursed images—the Diddler, Epstein affiliates Naomi Campbell & Kevin Spacey, & Heath Ledger all draped over each other at Paris Fashion Week 2001... An image that conjures a line of inquiry into the symptomatic similarities between Ledger & Kim Porter's respective unexpected deaths... And another, slightly earlier, revealing pic of Diddy's White Parties in the Hamptons, which Michael Rubin has since taken over (possibly to Diddler's chagrin) and which shows a younger version of #1 philanderer Leo DiCaprio hanging out w/ P Diddy, which maybe says something about Hollywood Babylon & Leo's propensity for dating very young models. And the third major component is a recurrent theme on the show in recent months, namely streaming's place within the pantheon of weaponized media forms... And there is perhaps no more of an illustrative case study for examining streaming's emergence and for examining its appeal to the powers that be & the capitalist elite who've enabled its youth-conquering rise than: Jason Itzler, aka Mr. Based. We dig into an anecdote that Mr. Based shared on one of his streams, describing how he was "sexually assaulted in the eyes" once by Diddy in the '90s at the Reebok Club in NY. The Diddler & Itzler occupying a particular social milieu in NY in the '90s and running into each other, leading to this uncomfortable encounter in Itzler's retelling, opens the door for us to examine Mr. Based's incredibly sus career prior to his streaming renaissance as a 50-something pervert who assaults women on camera... Namely the fact that, at one time, he operated one of the most successful cam girl companies and one of the biggest & most luxurious escort services in all of the Big Apple. We learn how Itzler may have even played a Diddy-esque informing role that led to former NY Gov. Spitzer's sex worker scandal downfall (a lady that Itzler had recruited)... And wouldn't you know it, we unpack how Jason just so happens to come from two incredibly powerful, mobbed-up Zion·ist families in both Philly & NYC, both of which connect him directly to Meyer Lansky & Golda Meir (who used to stay at his family home when he was a youngster). I layout how Itzler's Grandfather on his Sylk side in Philly was a pharmacy tycoon who served as Truman's point person on the "Israel question" and even purchased the "Exodus" steam packet ship that would play a crucial role in the colonizing of the Holy Land, as this American Zion·ist backed effort to illegally ferry Holocaust survivors to the British Mandate turned into a rallying cry for the Israeli ethnonationalist project as the men, women, & children became stranded in a near-interminable limbo of foreign ports & sea, refused entry. The History of the American Mafia: How the Mob Built Its Empire in the US, with Former Gambino Crime Family Associate, Louis Ferrante. In this episode, Mark sits down with former Mob associate Louis Ferrante to discuss his book, Borgata: The Rise of Empire: A History of the American Mafia. The history of the American Mafia, known as La Cosa Nostra or simply "The Mob," is well known. Prohibition in the United States during the Roaring Twenties saw the rise of characters who have since been mythologized in Hollywood: Charles "Lucky" Luciano and his close confidant Meyer Lansky, Al "Scarface" Capone, Arnold "The Brain" Rothstein, Dutch Schultz, Giuseppe "Joe the Boss" Masseria, and Salvatore Maranzano. What makes Borgata different is that it was written by someone who lived "The Life," providing a unique perspective. Lou discusses the formation of The Commission, an underworld ruling council that controlled the Five Families of New York (now known as the Gambino, Genovese, Lucchese, Bonanno, and Colombo), The Outfit in Chicago, and the Philadelphia Mafia.Lou talks about the rules, the use of violence, and how the US government looked to tackle the growing power of organized crime, spearheaded by the likes of prosecutor Thomas E. Dewey. We also hear about Lou's own life in La Cosa Nostra and how he and his crew committed some of the most successful heists in US history, which ultimately landed him in prison. In prison, he began to read everything he could get his hands on, including history, philosophy, and the great classics of literature. He never turned on his former associates, but when he left prison, he also left "The Life." Now he speaks about his experiences with the Mob and has become a successful author (Unlocked: A Journey from Prison to Proust), including his new a huge three-part history of the American Mafia. In this episode, Mark and Lou discuss the first book, Borgata: The Rise of Empire: A History of the American Mafia.====================================================Louis Ferrante's book 'Borgata: The Rise of Empire: A History of the American Mafia' is available here: https://a.co/d/cDcxOQ2 Audible version: https://a.co/d/2VHu3Ht ====================================================

In this episode, the first of a two-part series, we discuss the life and times of Paul "The Waiter" Ricca, who was born Felice De Lucia in Apricena, Italy in 1898. Dimitri launches into the most complex and sinister chapter of Demon Forces yet, exploring how the First Liberal Civil War metastasized into a West African proxy conflict and “vast international conspiracy” in 1990-91. PART ONE: A CELEBRATION OF MARKETS, 1990-91 The crystallization of two de facto Liberian governments (IGNU vs. NPRAG), the formation of the anti-Taylor ULIMO force in Guinea/Sierra Leone, Mandingo Al-Haji Kromah declaring a jihad on the NPFL, US-trained Krahn General Albert Karpeh (murdered), the ULIMO-ECOMOG alliance, rumors of a US assassination plot against Taylor… The RUF invasion of Sierra Leone in March 1991, Taylor's murky relationship with Foday Sankoh, Dr. H. Boima Fahnbulleh's TRC testimony about Houphouet-Boigny convincing the French to back Taylor's rebellion, tacit US support for every side of the conflict simultaneously, Taylor's pre-war collaborations with future President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and the mysterious “intelligence officer”/Tolbert son-in-law Tonya King, and the Chet Crocker proverb: “Why don't we let you handle that one, Francois?” The emergence of a vast shadow economy in Greater Liberia, Taylor's highly lucrative dealings with foreign business entities, the anarcho-capitalist paradise, Taylor's connections to French businessman Robert Saint-Pai, French Ambassador to Ivory Coast Michel Dupuch, and the son of President Mitterand… Background on the simmering geopolitical and economic rivalry between Nigeria and Ivory Coast, the ‘70s Nigerian oil boom, Houphouet-Boigny's ill-fated attempt to force the world cocoa markets upward in the ‘80s, his bitterness towards “les Anglos-Saxons” colluding to suppress cocoa prices, African countries succumbing to IMF/World Bank “assistance” one by one, the regional power of the hard currency-backed CFA Franc, Liberia's role as West Africa's US Dollar zone… Meyer Lansky and Tibor Rosenbaum using Liberia as a money laundering hub during the Tubman era, Doe and “notorious Italian fraudster” Giancarlo Parretti using revenue from Liberia's oil business to buy companies abroad, the economic significance of the proposed Mount Nimba iron ore project on the Guinean border, Doe and Nigerian President Babangida skimming off Nigerian oil imports via the Liberian National Petroleum Company, French mining company BRGM and the Japanese Sumitomo Corporation, Taylor setting up business deals via his lawyer Ramsey Clark, Franco-Ivorian and Unification Church logging companies, UNITA laundering diamond exports through Liberia, the difficult-to-measure marijuana cultivation in northern Liberia, Taylor's belief that African leaders should earn hard currency by laundering money for drug syndicates, the Corsican Mafia in Ivory Coast, cheap Nigerian amphetamines and Guinean “Sekou Touré” pills, crack cocaine factories in Abidjan, Pakistani hashish, Polish crime syndicates, Taylor's Dutch consigliere Gus Kouwenhoven, and some preliminary materials for Dimitri's theory of anarchocolonialism.
The Italian American Mafia was born out of the Castellamarese War. The Mafia was very much a thing in the United States prior to the war. The difference was the leadership. Old Sicilian Mafia men were called Mustache Petes. These were the guys in charge before the war. They were actually the guys that went to war. The generation of mobsters that grew up in America saw the world of organized crime differently. The new guard ended up whacking the old guard after the war, and the Italian American Mafia was born. Join us as we get Historically High on the Beginning of the Italian American Mafia
About the author of "DEALS DANGER DESTINY"So, if you thought a Renaissance Man was a thing of the past, think again. That opening quote was made by Dr. John LaCasse, who has ricocheted through life with ups and downs - ultimate highs and dismal lows. This high ridge walker from Montana became a wizard of wealth in Seattle as a successful yacht broker for 25 years. It brought him into relationships with business magnates such as Boeing, and Weyerhaeuser, political figures such as Secretary of State George Shultz, actor Gene Hackman, Prince Rainier III of Monaco, oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, Adriana Salinas de Gortari, and organized crime bosses Meyer Lansky and Johnny Carbone.Fast and Furious with Penthouse style, fast cars, and outlaw bikers…Being handed checks in the millions, drinking and smoking to excess—it was all real until one day it hit him: “Why am I living this life? Why am I letting this happen?”Even though marriage and fatherhood provided new sources of happiness and responsibility, the loss of two sons brought unimaginable grief. The piles of money meant nothing. Curiosity and education meant everything. John returned to school in middle age, but his attitude got him kicked out of three universities as he became reacquainted with "Who has the power." John ultimately prevailed with three terminal degrees including a Ph.D., in Education eLearning.Fearless John has waded into more than one situation with some interesting results. On a large transaction involving a meeting with the Chairman of Native Northwest Tribes, he realized he had no experience with Native Americans. When he showed up for the meeting, the tribal chairman motioned for John to take his seat across from him. John sat. The Chairman sat. They stared at each other. John raised his right hand and said, “How.” The Chairman leaned in and in a soft voice replied, “I have a master's degree, and I'm writing my Ph.D. dissertation on Biomass at the University of Washington, and I speak English.” That became a friendship that lasts to this day, and John carries a Chief Honor Blanket from The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. ******************John LaCasse is the founding principal of Silvertip Research. [originally published on Patreon Jan 25, 2022; for the retarded theory that Guterma was a tulpa, see Penny Royal's episodes] Joined again by @Boyd_Beaver, today's the final episode on Alexander Guterma, where we discuss how Guterma fit into the Moe Dalitz / Roy Cohn connection. We discuss how exactly how sexually repressed Hoover supposedly was, the DoJ's attacks on the Purple gang / Desert Inn gang, and another Howard Hughes connection. Then we discuss Guterma's deals with Rafael Trujillo, and speculate on why the government's documents on this are still redacted. This leads us to Guterma's arrest and conviction for a variety of crimes. Interestingly, the feds wanted Guterma to snitch on capital flight from the Soviet Union. Then, we cover how Guterma structured his offshore wealth to hide it from the feds. Guterma tried to break into Resorts International, and then got into Kentucky Coal, doing essentially the same tax writeoff schemes as they did with oil decades prior. Then we get into underground tunnels - specifically Meyer Lansky's secret tunnels in Michigan. From there, we go Galaxy Brain and discuss how everything is a front. Then, Guterma died in a plane crash in 1977 and go over all the connections we still didn't cover (the WCC, Fassoulis, Handsome Johnny), and how Guterma is a skeleton key for the eldritch monster we're up against.

See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
An infamous bootlegger and gambling tycoon, renowned for his role in creating the iconic Stardust Casino & Resort in Las Vegas, Tony "The Admiral" Cornero was a legendary figure. His entrepreneurial spirit led him from the humble origins of an Italian village to the bustling streets of America. Yet, his journey was marked by turbulence and intrigue.Born into hardship, with his family facing financial ruin, Cornero's early life was fraught with adversity. However, he swiftly rose from driving a cab to becoming a rumrunner, amassing a fortune by the tender age of 25. Yet, his rapid ascent fueled egos and bankrolls that ultimately culminated in a fatal encounter in 1925.After a dramatic escape from arrest, Cornero found himself in Vancouver, only to surrender himself years later. Undeterred by his past, he ventured to Las Vegas, where he inaugurated one of the city's pioneering resorts, the Meadows Casino & Hotel. However, his refusal to associate with notorious figures like Lucky Luciano and Meyer Lansky led to arson, destroying his property.Returning to Southern California, Cornero launched gambling ships off the shores of Santa Monica and Long Beach, most notably the SS Rex. Yet, his ventures drew the ire of State Attorney General Earl Warren, leading to a dramatic showdown dubbed "The Battle of Santa Monica Bay."Despite setbacks, including the revocation of his gambling license and a near-fatal shooting, Cornero persisted. He returned to Las Vegas, where he ambitiously built the Stardust Casino & Resort. However, financial woes and pressure from The Cleveland Syndicate marred his endeavors, ending in his mysterious demise. The aftermath saw no resolution for the families of Cornero, Siegel, and Berman, all embroiled in the tangled web of casino interests. Even as the legacy of Tony Cornero fades into history, the enigmatic allure of his life continues to captivate, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions and intriguing discoveries.Links:Video of Tony Cornero: https://youtu.be/I_K6dyyc9-s?si=FNTK1D1iko8R5VblArticle: “Stardust In Your Eyes, Tony Cornero & The Stardust Hotel: https://www.americanmafia.com/Feature_Articles_26.htmlAlan Geik Podcast: https://www.beforethelightspod.com/beforethelights-episodes/j7dyhpzh43owyule4iaegt2fgsy22s Before the Lights Links:RATE & REVIEW THE SHOW! 5 STAR & NICE COMMENTS PLEASE!Become a BTL Member: https://www.beforethelightspod.com/supportBefore the Lights Website: https://www.beforethelightspod.com/Get Tommy a Glass of Vino: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/beforethelightsSupport the showFollow the show on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/beforethelightspodcast/Follow the show on Face Book: https://www.facebook.com/beforethelightspodcast/Follow the show on Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@beforethelightspodcast?lang=enFollow Tommy on Face Book: https://www.facebook.com/tcanale3Rate & Review: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/before-the-lights/id1501245041Email the host: beforethelightspod@gmail.com

In another BONUS EPISODE, Pettengill focuses on one of the most powerful and important mafioso in American history - Santo Trafficante, Jr. Much like Meyer Lansky, Trafficante was instrumental in the making of a criminal empire in Cuba. But this is not a story that Pettengill can tell on his own. This episode features a Trafficante insider, a liason, the incomparable Joann "Joiew" Gallo.
The Trafficante crime family ruled Florida for decades, earning the respect and admiration of powerful mobsters like Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky and Sam Giancana. Santo Trafficante Sr arrived in Tampa as a boy from Sicily and took to the underworld with a talent for business, setting up the illegal lottery known as the Bolita before using his Spanish skills to make him indispensable to the powerful five families who wanted to set up shop in Cuba. When his son, Santo Jr, took the reigns, they soon controlled casinos, nightclubs and luxury hotels, as well as narcotics trafficking routes, from Cuba to Miami to Tampa. But the heady days of Fulgencio Batista's Cuba was coming to a close, and the Cuban revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro were going to complicate things. So much so that Trafficante soon found himself in one of America's strangest alliances and even stranger assassination plots. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

An Offer You Can't Refuse: the History of Organized Crime in the United States
Episode 25 embarks on a new miniseries, one focused on the Mafia's criminal empire in Cuba. While the miniseries will take up a variety of different topics, this episode is primarily focused on the groundwork Meyer Lansky laid to expand his operations into Havana. Nothing, however, would have been possible would have been possible without the help of the Cuban government. And, as Pettengill notes, the United States government had ensured there would be an American-friendly government in Cuba ever since consolidating their power in the region at the turn of the twentieth century. In sum, it is impossible to understand American history in the aggregate without understanding the development of the Havana mob.

When did he know members of his family were mob related and learning who Waxey Gordon was?Dutch Schultz was into numbers rackets, how they would use apartments as offices, and the greed for money was the demise for Dutch. Uncle Charlie killed Dutch Schultz at the Palace Chophouse and received a life sentence but who was involved with him being caught. We talked about Murder Inc. with names such as Louis Lepke and Sammy Kass. Why was the murder of Irving Penn significant? Murder, Inc Old-Time Mobsters From Brooklyn, New York, Chicago, Vegas, Miami. Al Capone, Meyer Lansky, 60s era, 70s era, French Connection, Jewish Mafia, Casino, Stardust. Author Alan Geik, nephew of the button man, tells what it was like growing up with "Uncle Charlie."
So, in this episode, we go to New York in the 1930's where Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, and Bugsy Siegel took over the Mob in New York City, leading to the creation of a National Crime Syndicate, a Commission of Mob Bosses to settle disputes and for those times when disputes just will not settle, they created a group that came to be known as Murder, Incorporated to take care of those who broke the rules. This group committed hits (a term they created) all over the country and worked out of the back of a candy store in Brooklyn. We discuss this group, their rise and their fall, the indelible mark they made on popular culture. But before we discuss this, it is episode 160 so not only does Krysta have her corner, but we play catching up with Krysta in this special historical true crime episode of the Family Plot Podcast! This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4670465/advertisement
In this episode, we continue to look into the text and the subtext of a few portions from my memoir called, “Wilt, Ike and Me.” Again, the text relates to the written words and the subtext relates to the meanings behind them. In the last episode, we dealt with the subtextual theme of death, when a classic comic book dramatized to me how my hero, Davy Crockett, had died at the Alamo. This unexpected encounter with the certain impermanence of life took me completely by surprise, which made it all the more powerful. This coming episode also deals with an unexpected encounter with impermanence, but it comes in a different flavor. * * * My mother was thinking of adopting a dog, a big Afghan poodle that belonged to an old woman who couldn't care for it anymore. I was supposed to go take a look at it and see if it was too big for our house. “Isaac Ruvah will drive you over,” she said. “He knows the old lady pretty well.” “Isaac Ruvah” was another name for my father's uncle, Uncle Ike. When you talked to him directly, you always called him “Uncle Ike.” But when you referred to him in the third person, he was Isaac Ruvah. Ruvah was a nickname. There were so many Isaacs, they gave each one a Yiddish modifier, so you could tell who they were talking about. It was like an Italian family that had so many Paulies, they had to give them nicknames like Paulie Walnuts, Paulie Bag o' Donuts, and so on. A few days later, Uncle Ike picked me up, and we drove over to the woman's apartment. He said her name was Cousin Agnes and asked me if I knew who she was. When I told him I didn't, he wasn't a bit surprised and explained that she was the widow of one of my father's cousins, Natey Schaeffer. He asked me if I knew who he was. “I'm sure you don't,” he said before I even had a chance to answer. And he was right. I had never heard of him, but that was nothing new. Our extended family was huge and a lot of them didn't speak English, so to me, they were a big blur. Uncle Ike didn't say anything for a few moments as he drove. His salt-and-pepper hair, now far more salt than pepper, shimmered in the flickering sunlight as it poured through the windshield. Then, with a smile of both irony and affection, he started telling me about this unfamiliar relative, and I quickly understood why I had never heard of him before. Apparently, Cousin Natey was a Jewish gangster, and a fairly significant one at that. As with most American subcultures, the Jews had a dark side, a criminal underbelly. And like the Irish, the Italians, the blacks, the Asians, and so on—they didn't like to talk about it. To them, it was best kept private. Natey had been dead for quite some, but it was clear that Uncle Ike's memories of him were still very much alive. “Yeah, Cousin Natey was really something. There was never anybody like him,” he mused. “He was our cousin, a first cousin to your Bubbe and me, and we were really close.” He got quiet again, like he was trying to decide how much of the vault he wanted to open. “Listen, this is just between you and me, so don't talk about it to anybody, but he was with Meyer Lansky.” He looked at me like he had just revealed a great truth, but I had never heard that name before. As it turned out, Meyer Lansky was the most notorious alleged Jewish mobster in American history, but it meant nothing to me. Since he sounded important, I figured he might have owned one of the stores on Castor Avenue, the neighborhood's big shopping strip. It couldn't have been the toy store because the brothers who owned it, Hershel and Zvi Slansky, were tight with my parents, but there were dozens of others. “You know who that is, don't you?” he asked. “Sure!” I shot back. “OK, good. So, during prohibition, Natey and his group ran Philly for Lansky,” he said. “Made a fortune.” “A lot of people in the family were ashamed of him, but not your Bubbe,” he went on. “No sir. She would never let anyone say anything bad about him. She wouldn't hear of it. And I'll tell you one thing, you don't want to get on her bad side.” As tough as he was, Uncle Ike was my grandmother's baby brother, the youngest of eight, and I could hear a definite sound of fear in his voice. It was surprising because to me, she was just my sweet grandmother. She was always full of love, and although I could barely understand her, I always felt it. She'd been here over fifty years and still sounded like she just got off the boat. It didn't matter though. Her hugs and kisses, and the light in her eyes told us everything we needed to know. She was all heart, and Uncle Ike's comment about her fierce loyalty made perfect sense. “If somebody had a bar mitzvah or a wedding and they couldn't afford it, Natey would always cover it,” Uncle Ike continued. “Same thing with a shiva. If somebody in the family died and they didn't have the money, Natey was right there. Great guy!” A shiva is a gathering that happens at a mourner's house, and there's always a lot of food put out for the visitors. Before then, it hadn't occurred to me that you had to pay for it. Somehow it seemed to come along with the death. “Cousin Agnes is really something,” Uncle Ike said as we got to her apartment. When we walked up to the door, he took out his own key. “She was a flapper, you know? Great dancer. I don't know how they met, but she was a real looker and Natey fell hard for her.” He opened the door, bent down, and picked up the mail. “She was a real shiksa [a non-Jewish woman] too. That was another big strike against him with the family. But Natey didn't give a shit. He was nuts for her. My God, she was pretty, though. Really, really gorgeous.” We walked down the hall, into a dimly lit bedroom full of stale cigarette smoke. A huge white dog was lying at the foot of a double bed. And an unbelievably old, white-haired lady was lying in it. She looked like a creature in a comedy/ horror film, a kindly old ghoul who had been dead for years but could still smoke cigarettes. There was a bottle on her end table with a half-filled glass of clear liquid next to it. A sort of pungent odor filled the air that I would later come to know as vodka. Next to the bottle was a black and white picture in an ornate silver frame. Clearly from the Jazz Age, a dapper-looking guy in a sharp tuxedo was standing next to a curvaceous flapper in a short dress. She wore one of those 1920s hats that covered her forehead, framing her face with a perfect blend of pearls and curls. They were obviously at a fashionable party or some fancy joint, having an amazing time, and she had a dazzling smile. “There's your Cousin Natey,” Uncle Ike said, pointing to the picture. “And Duvid, take a guess who's on his arm.” I shrugged. I didn't know, and I really didn't care. The whole scene was starting to get to me; I just wanted to get out of there. “That's right,” he said, smiling at the pale ghost in the bed. “It's Agnes.” She lit another cigarette, took a long drag, and blew out an enormous billow of smoke. It didn't seem possible for that much exhaust to come pouring out of a body that small and frail. She gave me a wide smile. Her white skin crinkled into a thousand pieces, and her mouth revealed a smattering of teeth that were more orange than yellow. “Boy, was she something,” he mused, with a faraway look in his eyes. He peered into the dense cigarette smoke, like he was looking through a veil, at a vision of the distant past. “You were one pretty lady, Agnes,” Uncle Ike said to her. “And according to Natey, nobody could do the Charleston like you. He always said there was magic in those hips of yours.” He did some ridiculous Charleston imitation, swiveling his hips around like he was twirling a hula hoop, which really cracked Agnes up. She laughed for a moment, then broke out into a long, hacking cough. She reached over, grabbed a tissue, and spit into it. That did it. I really had to go. She seemed like a nice enough lady, but I couldn't handle being there any longer. I had never been around anybody that old before, and I wasn't prepared for it. I mean, Uncle Ike was up there in years, but next to her, he looked like a teenager. It was all just too much. After another few minutes, we left. As far as I was concerned, I wasn't coming back. My mother could handle anything further with the dog. I was done. Later that night, as I was lying in my bed, I was too agitated to fall asleep. We all know getting old is a fact of life, but this face-to-face encounter had really thrown me. In my mind's eye, I kept seeing that great old picture of Agnes and Natey. They were at the high point of their lives, young, happy and clearly in love. But the suave and handsome Natey was long since dead. And his vivacious showgirl had turned into the withered, ancient, woman, confined to bed, laying in a shroud of smoke. “Is this what's going to happen to me?” I wondered. But I knew the answer before I even finished asking the question. “Of course, this is what's going to happen to you,' I replied to myself. “This is exactly what's going to happen to you. That is if you live that long.” Images of the young Agnes and the old Agnes kept alternating in my mind, like someone was running a slideshow in there. It was hard to believe they were the same person. “What else do you think is going to happen? How do you think this whole thing ends?” my inner dialogue continued. “One way or another, you die.” After about an hour of this mental back and forth, I finally drifted off. But I didn't sleep well that night. * * * That's the end of the text of the story. Now for some of the meaning behind the words. I was only sixteen at the time and had just gotten my driver's license. And it seemed like the whole world was opening up to me. I don't know about you, but getting my license is still one of the most transformative events that has ever happened to me. It changed everything. So, here I was, this excited and happy adolescent, enthralled by the thrill of this whole new stage of life, suddenly running headlong into the brick wall of truly serious old age. And let me tell you that my description of it didn't even come close to imparting the true severity of the blow. As he was telling me about them, Uncle Ike had built up Agnes and Natey's life together to a lavishly mythic level, which made sense because he was ten years younger than them and they were clearly his idols. I don't know what I was expecting, but when I finally met her, not only did I meet the oldest person I had ever seen, I also came face to face with the unequivocally transient nature of our life on earth. And it really got driven home when I saw that picture of them in their heyday, this jazzed-up couple, jazzing it up in the jazz age, and then looked back at this frail, ancient lady, smoking her cigarettes, as her crumpled sheets matched the crevices that made up the atlas of wrinkles that covered the pale skin of her face. In the picture, they seemed so cool, but now, the faded glory of their bygone era was so ancient, that I might as well have been looking at a picture of the Sphinx in front of the Great Pyramid, And that night, when I couldn't fall asleep and the images of the young Agnes and the old Agnes kept alternating in my inner vision, it was clear to me that I too would someday be that old. That is if I lived that long. I'm sure you get the picture, because this subtext is true for all of us. All of our hopes and dreams, our cares and fears, and our successes and failures are just temporary stops along this road of life, and we all know all too well, that regardless of any circumstances, this road inevitably comes to an end. But for me and for anyone else who cares to look a little deeper, the outlook isn't as dark as it may seem, because according to the Wisdom of the Ages, understanding impermanence can mark the doorway out of the prison of self-limitation that leads to the liberating freedom of self-knowledge, along with the inherent joy that comes along with that territory. And even though I may only be just starting to scratch the surface of this whole thing, so far, the view has certainly been worth the climb. And with that, let's let this be the end of this episode. As always, keep your eyes, mind and heart opened, and let's get together in the next one.

An intimate relationship gives a sentiment of purpose and belonging which increases the physiological and psychological well-being.” I dealt with similar things: “The "disorganized crime" and choice theses Edit One of the most important trends to emerge in criminological thinking about OC in recent years is the suggestion that it is not, in a formal sense, "organized" at all. Evidence includes lack of centralized control, absence of formal lines of communication, fragmented organizational structure. It is distinctively disorganized. For example, Seattle's crime network in the 1970s and 80s consisted of groups of businessmen, politicians and of law enforcement officers. They all had links to a national network via Meyer Lansky, who was powerful, but there was no evidence that Lansky or anyone else exercised centralized control over them.[181] While some crime involved well-known criminal hierarchies in the city, criminal activity was not subject to central management by these hierarchies nor by other controlling groups, nor were activities limited to a finite number of objectives. The networks of criminals involved with the crimes did not exhibit organizational cohesion. Too much emphasis had been placed on the Mafia as controlling OC. The Mafia were certainly powerful but they "were part of a heterogeneous underworld, a network characterized by complex webs of relationships." OC groups were violent and aimed at making money but because of the lack of structure and fragmentation of objectives, they were "disorganized".[182][183] Further studies showed neither bureaucracy nor kinship groups are the primary structure of organized crime; rather, the primary structures were found to lie in partnerships or a series of joint business ventures.[184][185] Despite these conclusions, all researchers observed a degree of managerial activities among the groups they studied. All observed networks and a degree of persistence, and there may be utility in focusing on the identification of organizing roles of people and events rather than the group's structure.[186][187] There may be three main approaches to understand the organizations in terms of their roles as social systems:[188] organizations as rational systems: Highly formalized structures in terms of bureaucracy's and hierarchy, with formal systems of rules regarding authority and highly specific goals; organizations as natural systems: Participants may regard the organization as an end in itself, not merely a means to some other end. Promoting group values to maintain solidarity is high on the agenda. They do not rely on profit maximization. Their perversity and violence in respect of relationships is often remarkable, but they are characterized by their focus on the connections between their members, their associates and their victims; and, organizations open systems: High levels of interdependence between themselves and the environment in which they operate. There is no one way in which they are organized or how they operate. They are adaptable and change to meet the demands of their changing environments and circumstances. Organized crime groups may be a combination of all three.” --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support
CLICK TO SUBSCRIBE ON YOUR FAVORITE PODCATCHER CONTENT WARNING: Discussion of allegations of sexual harassment, misconduct, and assault against a writer. Also, misogyny, verbal and physical abuse, murder, humiliation, death. We're going over to the mob this week by discussing the most-nominated film of this Oscars series, and also one of the most boring. It's so dull, it can't even cut through butter. There's a dozen incredibly good stories just waiting to be told about Bugsy Siegel, Meyer Lansky, Vegas, and the mafia in the 40's and 50's, and absolutely none of them get coverage in this movie. No, instead we get a psychosexual abusive romance that somehow is supposed to be the throughline for a bunch of historical exposition and horribly unwarranted violence. The writing is so bad here that there are multiple deserved acting nominations and some really incredible technical achievements and all of them get lost by the wayside. Oscar Goodman was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. After completing high school, Goodman went on to receive his J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. This eventually prompted a move to the Land of Milk & Honey - Las Vegas, Nevada. During his career as a defense attorney, he represented some of the top members accused of leading organized crime such as: Meyer Lansky, Nicky Scarfo, Herbert "Fat Herbie" Blitzstein, Phil Leonetti, former Stardust Casino boss Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal, and Jamiel "Jimmy" Chagra, a 1970s drug trafficker who was acquitted of ordering the murder of Federal Judge John H. Wood, Jr. One of his notorious clients was reputed Chicago mobster Anthony "Tony the Ant" Spilotro, who was known to have a short and violent temper. In the semi-factual 1995 movie Casino, the character of Nicky Santoro was based on Spilotro, and was portrayed by actor Joe Pesci. Goodman had a cameo appearance in the film as himself, where he was depicted defending “Ace Rothstein,” a character closely based on Lefty Rosenthal, and played by Robert De Niro. Eventually on June 8, 1999, Goodman was elected mayor of Las Vegas after he received 63.76% of the votes, while his opponent, then-Las Vegas City Councilman Arnie Adamsen, received 36.24% of the votes. In 2003, Goodman was re-elected for a second term, and defeated five opponents after he received 85.72% of the votes. On April 3, 2007, he was re-elected to a third and final term, with 83.69% of the votes when he once again defeated five opponents. Despite having been called Las Vegas' “most popular mayor,” the city has term limit laws that restrict mayors to a maximum of three terms. In 2011, Carolyn Goodman, wife of Oscar, was elected to succeed her husband as mayor after she earned 60% of the votes.
