There is one thing we all have, and that is a story. Our own personal story. It begins the moment we are born, but we don't become aware of it until we develop cognition and memory as older children. We can be given a good story, such as "you are loved", "you are worthy", "you are valued". But unfortunately, some of us are given a heavy load to carry, such as "you're not good enough", "you're a failure", "you don't belong".Gillian McMichael - master coach, reiki healer, meditation teacher and author - was indeed given a heavy load which shaped her growing years and subsequent adult life. The choices she went on to make and the stress these created eventually led to serious health issues followed by the collapse of her business and marriage. It was, however, an opportunity to face herself and her past, and let it all go. To create her own story and find out who she really was. It was a long and difficult path to tread, but through using tools like meditation and pranayama (conscious breathing), and following a process of self-enquiry, Gillian became the master of her own destiny. The culmination of her effort is her recently published book Coming home - a guide to being your true self (available on Amazon) in which she shares her journey of self-discovery and invites the reader to do the same by offering questions and exercises along the way.
