Tonight we're chatting with the co-creators of a new graphic novel project called THE MATRON, co-authors David Bowles and Drew Edwards and artist Monica Gallagher. They all have amazing resumes and I have spoken many times with David, who besides being an Eisner-nominated comic creator and author of some forty books, presently serves as the president of the Texas Institute of Letters and co-editor-in-chief of Chispa Comics. And I speak regularly with Drew, who is a Best of Austin award-winner, two-time Ringo nominee creator of the comic Halloween Man. But it is my great pleasure to for the first time speak to Monica Gallagher, a Ringo Award winner for Assassin Roommate and has co-created numerous series including The Black Ghost and Anti-Stepbrother, not to mention a number of indy series. For fans of PEARL, HACK/SLASH, and YELLOWJACKETS—The Matron, Volume 1: A Wind that Kills is a 52-page horror graphic novel from award-winning creators David Bowles and Drew Edwards. It's Lonely at the Centre of the Earth. Mark and Tim continue our look at the Disavowed era with G.I. Joe with an interview with special guest Tim Seeley We never take it easy on the comics when we are doing our reviews (I like to think we keep it to objective criticism - either gushing praise or unfair scorn) but I have a genuine affection for Tim Seeley's art run on GI Joe and it was great to get to talk to him about his time working on GI Joe with Devil's Due. Tim Seeley is an American comic book creator with many credits to his name, which includes writing on books such as Grayson and Batman Eternal, as the co-creator co-creator of the Image Comics titles Hack/Slash , but most importantly as a creator synonymous with the Devils Due Era of GI Joe; most significantly Pencilling most of issue 23-43, and writing the issues of Frontline, Special Missions and the 3rd and 4th Transformers crossovers., and more besides. We talk about Starting at Devils Due & recommending Steve Kurth as artist Bullpen environment of Devils Due A memorable encounter with Larry Hama Moving from Drawing to both writing and drawing The end of his run with issue 43 & launch of Americas elite GI Joe vs Transformers Working with Robert Kirkman back in early 200s - Snake Eyes on the moon! and more besides! This episode will be available as both audio only (more tightly edited) and video (3 talking heads with some extra images to illustrate talking points). My preference would be the audio only which gets rid of al the erms etc.

PUBLIC VERSION. Comic creator and screenwriter Tim Seeley (HACK/SLASH, REVIVAL, REVEALER) follows up his LIVE Yorkiethon 5 appearance from 2020 with this far more comprehensive discussion about his career journey. Starting with how Tim made the most of the pandemic while under lockdown with a brand new baby at home… to turning lemons into lemonade by writing REVEALER (now streaming on Shudder) under incredibly specific COVID-safe parameters and in an insanely short amount of time… to how Tim's comic book experience proved invaluable in writing the screenplay… to shooting the movie during the height of the pandemic when quarantine was still the norm and vaccines were still a long time away… to going way back to the very beginning and how Tim went from a child comic book fan to the creator of one of the most beloved comic series in the horror genre (HACK/SLASH)… to the importance of recognizing the difference between art that you admire and art that you yourself can excel at… this conversation exploring the creative process is one that fans and fellow artists will surely benefit from hearing! Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a returning patient who has followed every MOVIE CRYPT suggestion and is now just trying to get her work read by the right people, Tim gives the boys a full update on where things stand with turning HACK/SLASH into a film or series, and Adam and Joe reveal a story about the time they went to a strip club together.
