Earlier this week British prime minister, Rishi Sunak, unveiled the Windsor Framework, a deal with the EU to fix post-Brexit trade problems in Northern Ireland. The Democratic Unionist Party, whose support is crucial to restoring the power-sharing government in the Province have yet to deliver their verdict on it. An exhibition at Lambeth Palace reveals how the Church of England profited from investments connected with slavery. Reporter Vishva Samani visits 'Enslavement: Voices from the Archives' and speaks to those who feel it fails to show the full extent of the Church's involvement. William talks to author and senior fellow at Theos, Nicholas Spencer, about his new book Magisteria, in which he suggests that the troubled relationship between science and religion has definitively shaped human history. Stranger at the Gate is the Oscar nominated true story about a former US marine intent on attacking a Mosque, but who ended up converting to Islam. William speaks to Bibi Bahrami, founder of the Islamic Centre of Muncie, about that episode and her subsequent friendship with Richard McKinney. Thank you so much for watching! Before the usual links and references, I'd like to just emphasise what an amazing place Cornwall is. I grew up in Cornwall and until today the entire county is so close to my heart. I encourage everyone to visit and support the local businesses there and to take some time to educate yourselves on the unique language, culture and history of Cornwall and it's people. For my Muslim audience, our Islamic Centre is in Carnon Downs and is very welcoming to visitors. You can collect a leaflet from there which will show you all of the local places to buy food and make your stay in Cornwall comfortable. I would like to thank Dr Alan Kent for tutoring me and taking me from D predictions to A results in GCSE English literature and language as well as an A in English literature at A-level. I only keep a handful of physical books and I have kept 'The Literature of Cornwall' for over a decade so I'd like to thank Dr Alan Kent for this contribution to Cornish literature and language study. You can purchase a copy of Dr Alan Kent's book here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Literature-Cornwall-Continuity-Difference-1000-2000/dp/1900178281/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Literature+of+Cornwall&qid=1638811955&sr=8-1

Yet after fulfilling his dream of having a fully running Dawah Centre, he decided it would be best to expand his knowledge and he thus decided to obtain a legal degree. We speak with Sheikh Kammoun to hear about his journey, his struggles around the way, and what motivates him to continue growing in life. Richard McKinney has made an extraordinary life journey – from a US veteran who planned to bomb a mosque, to a d Muslim who prays devoutly at the very Mosque he planned for 2 years to blow up. A veteran of the US Marines, Richard returned traumatised from combat in Afghanistan. That turned into a deep hatred of Islam. At his home in Muncie, Indiana, Richard was producing a device to blow up the town’s Mosque which he hoped will kill 200 people. But he decided to give the community he so hated ‘one more chance’. He visited the Islamic Centre, and was given a Koran to take home and read. Just eight weeks later, he had converted and within a few years he had become President of the very Mosque he yearned to destroy. Colm Flynn hears how Richard could have been one of America's most notorious mass murders, but is now a devout Muslim and advocate for peace and understanding. C of I Archbishop Michael Jackson, RC Bishop John McAreavey, Ali Selim of the Islamic Centre and Rabbi Zalman Lent look at the spiritual state of Ireland, discussing women in the various faiths, abortion and same sex marriage.
The plan to build an Islamic Centre near Ground Zero has polarised the United States and become a key political issue, playing heavily in the mid-term elections. Does it point to a rise in Islamaphobia as some people claim? And what could be the repercussions for America's relationship with Muslims at home and in the rest of the world? In The Report, Linda Pressly traces the development of a controversy that has engulfed New York, and more widely, the nation. Protestors against the development two blocks from where the World Trade Centre once stood voiced their opposition against the proposal on the anniversary of 9/11. They claim it is insensitive to the families who lost loved ones on that day and some go so far as to equate it with another attack on America. President Obama has stepped in to defend the principle of religious freedom and been the target of attacks from the former Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin and the popular conservative movement known as the Tea Party. Muslims in the USA have watched as the story has been all over the talk shows, generated columns of newsprint and been covered all over the world. They are concerned by what they see as a rise in Islamophobia, but don't want to give up on the project because they fear it could lead to mosques being banned elsewhere. The Report hears from some of the main protagonists - including the controversial blogger Pamela Geller who's led the fight against what she insists will be a 'mega mosque'. Members of the Muslim community in New York worry that the ordinary American's view of their religion has been eclipsed by al-Qaeda, a concern which is borne out, in part, by a visit to the site of another proposed mosque around ten miles away from Manhattan in Sheepshead Bay.
