"I'm actually not a believer of the web 2.0 turning into web 3. So these days a lot of companies are basically turning non-profitable web 2.0 companies and adding token elements into that and turning it into a web 3 company - and think issuing a token can flip the whole picture differently. I'm not a believer in that, the reason is that the user is coming on board with a different purpose. These people from the web 2.0, they don't care about whether they have tokens, they don't care about whether they're owning the assets." - Jessica Liu   Fresh out of the studio, Jessica Liu, the partner from AppWorks Ventures joined us in a discussion to probe deep into what it is like to invest in the Web3 space. We began with her backstory of how she transitioned from fintech into crypto as a venture capitalist. From there, she offered her perspectives on how the web3 space is evolving and why the web2 paradigm cannot be translated into the new mission of web3 in onboarding the next billion. Last but not least, Jessica reviews the different mechanisms of funding in web3 and how DAOs will evolve in the next wave post the current crypto downturn.   Podcast Information: The show is hosted and produced by Bernard Leong (@bernardleong, Linkedin) and Carol Yin (@CarolYujiaYin, LinkedIn). Many people who are assigned female at birth spend time dreaming about the time in their lives when they will carry and birth a baby. There are also those who want to go out of their way to avoid conception and yet they don't know anything about their own fertility. This week we have the honour of discussing fertility with Dr. Jessica Liu, ND. She will talk about charting for ourselves, how we embrace the function of the body and the disservice we have done to our youth. If we don't know our bodies well enough to know when we CAN conceive a baby, how do we go about doing what we can (without chemicals) to take control of our sexual lives and prevent conception too? According to John's Hopkins the current statistics surrounding those affected by endometriosis is between 2 and 10%. The challenge with that number is that there are some who don't experience pain, many who are diagnosed with other issues (like PCOS) and are left with the one diagnosis alone and even others who are dismissed for being hypersensitive and therefore no follow up is ever done. This week, as Endometriosis Awareness Month winds down, we have invited Dr. Jessica Liu, ND to chat with us about what endometriosis is, how it can present and what we need to know in order to be our healthiest selves and our own best advocates. I want to share what I went through because I know it helped me to hear from others who went through their own experiences. I do not pretend to think that because I went through this situation that I understand anyone else's situation. We all have our own experiences and we handle those experiences differently. If you have gone through something like a miscarriage or difficulty conceiving, I can promise you you are not alone. There is someone else who has experienced this hardship too. And you are never alone because Jesus promised He will always be with you. And Jesus will bring you through this. In John 16:33 Jesus says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Review of natural family planning charts when we were “not, not trying:” how we identified our fertile window, peak days, times of intercourse. It didn't even occur to me that I should be thinking of shifting some healthy habits before getting pregnant. For many people, this isn't something that happens totally planned, so a lot of us don't do the prep work. But for those of you who CAN, this episode is for you.It wasn't until after I'd had my second child that I started learning more about environmental health – i.e. toxins – and learned that preparing for pregnancy 3 months prior to conception is recommended. The CDC website on preconception health actually has a section on environmental exposures – They say:“Avoid harmful chemicals, environmental contaminants, and other toxic substances such as synthetic chemicals, metals, fertilizer, bug spray, and cat or rodent feces around the home and in the workplace. These substances can hurt the reproductive systems of men and women. They can make it more difficult to get pregnant. Exposure to even small amounts during pregnancy, infancy, childhood, or puberty can lead to diseases. Learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones from toxic substances at work and at home.”It stops short of giving advice for what you can do in your daily life beyond workplace exposures. In this episode, I'll break down why pre-conception toxin reduction is so important and offer strategies to help you reduce the toxins that are known to have the biggest impact.Links Mentioned:Free Guide - 4 Hormone Disruptors to Avoid Before Having a Baby: https://greenathome.ca/prenatalguide6-Week Course - Prepping for Pregnancy: https://greenathome.ca/preppingforpregnancyRelated Episodes:Episode 33 | Cycle Charting for Birth Control & Body Literacy with Nora Pope, FCP & Dr. Jessica Liu, ND:https://greenathome.ca/podcast/ep33-cycle-charting-for-birth-control-body-literacy-with-nora-pope-fcp-dr-jessica-liu-nd/Episode 30 | Hormone Disruptors are the Worst:https://greenathome.ca/podcast/ep30-hormone-disruptors-are-the-worst/Episode 4 | Hormone Disruptors & Pregnancy - What You Need to Know:https://greenathome.ca/podcast/ep04-hormone-disruptors-pregnancy-what-you-need-to-know/*****Green Product Forum: https://facebook.com/groups/greenproductforumInstagram: https://instagram.com/emma_greenathomeWebsite: https://greenathome.ca

As journal editors, we're aware of the fact that we have a role to play in scientific discourse - that's why The BMJ has been so keen to talk about the way in which scientific knowledge is constructed, through our Evidence Manifesto. We also know that money has influence in the scientific literature - which is why we have a zero tolerance policy for financial conflicts of interest in our educational content. Where do journal editors fit into this? The first step into investigating that is to find out if journal editors receive payments from pharma and device companies - and new research, published on bmj.com does that. Jessica Liu - internist and assistant professor at the university of Toronto, and one of the authors of that study joins us to discuss. Read the full research: http://www.bmj.com/content/359/bmj.j4619
