E tem de continuar ainda mais neste momento. Chegamos nas semis de conferência na NBA, nas quartas da NBA e no final four da Euro. E rapaz, tivemos grandes momentos e surpresas. Começando pela NBB, apenas dois times que estavam pior qualificados que seus adversários passaram: São Paulo e Corinthians. Mas as series mais apertadas e complicadas foram vencidas pelo Pinheiros, em cima do Unifacisa e pelo Bauru, em cima do Paulistano. Ambas no ultimo jogo, com Bauru precisando da prorrogação. Na Euro, menos surpresas, apesar da torcida. Os quatro melhores da temporada regular chegaram nas semis. O Fenerbahçe enfrenta o Panathinaikos e o Olympiacos pega o Monaco. Os dois jogos das semis são no dia 23 e o terceiro e quarto e a final são dia 25. Os jogos vão rolar em Dubai, por algum motivo. Na NBA, depois de duas series chegando no jogo sete no Oeste, com Golden State e Denver passando, o começo das semis de conferencia foram inesperados. No Leste, o Pacers ganhou os dois primeiros jogos do Cavs, ambos em Cleveland. Enquanto isso, o Celtics simplesmente derreteu em quadra, perdendo os dois jogos para o Knicks, mesmo depois de abrir 20 pontos nas duas partidas. No Oeste também tivemos surpresas, com o Denver ganhando no fim do jogo do OKC, em Oklahoma e o Warriors ganhando o primeiro jogo do Timberwolves, em Minnesota. Transnational organized crime networks have taken advantage of America's porous borders and smuggled dangerous drugs into our nation. According to DEA, "Mexico and China are the primary source countries for fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances trafficked directly into the United States." Fentanyl has taken the lives of 74,702 Americans in 2023 alone. A published report stated: Panamanian authorities have reported that members of Hezbollah, one of the most influential paramilitary groups in the Middle East, have been detected crossing the Darién jungle. Authorities also noted that these individuals are linked to groups involved in migrant smuggling. Costa Rica's Minister of Security, Mario Zamora, explained that the recent rise in migration has heightened alerts for individuals connected to terrorism. Other cases of individuals with links to terrorism, however, have been recorded. “Costa Rica has detained three individuals with international terrorism alerts: two Somalis linked to a little-known group and an Egyptian connected to Al Qaeda. Currently, we have a person from Kazakhstan, linked to ISIS, in custody. This migratory flow has brought individuals with a history of terrorism,” Zamora stated. Tom Foley began 2021 as the new Executive Director of National Disability Institute (NDI).Trained as a tax lawyer and financial planner, Tom has more than 30 years of experience in the disability community. As a person who is blind, he has been an advocate and dedicated his career to partnering with other thought leaders to address the complex drivers of economic inequality and create pathways to employment and financial security for the most vulnerable communities. In addition, Tom has been instrumental in developing and influencing federal and state legislation to encourage employment and increase participation of people with disabilities in employment and wealth-building programs. He most recently held the position of Managing Director at the World Institute on Disability.Tom says: I think financial institutions, educators and banks each have to recognize the disability community as a specific market segment of the population that have been traditionally underserved and have a demonstrated need for access to financial tools and services. Once they make the decision to work with the disability community, they need to partner with organizations who are particularly well-positioned to provide industry technical assistance to reach the disability community and further the financial industry's inclusion goals – like National Disability Institute. For example, NDI reaches two million people per year and has been doing this for 15 years. We are particularly well situated, through our research, policy and practice, to reach this community.In addition, it's important for banks and financial institutions to target people with disabilities through their CRA activities. NDI's Center for Disability-Inclusive Community Development (CDICD) works to improve the usage of the opportunities and resources available under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). This is really important as millions of dollars, that could help people with disabilities in LMI communities, goes unspent every year. Through NDI's research, we've identified that Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities with disability are the most underserved. How do we change this? Financial institutions, in particular, need to make a concerted effort to work with and support this segment of the community. In a significant development, it has come to light that the Biden administration approved the use of harmful force during the FBI raid on the Mar-a-Lago estate of former President Trump. Recent disclosures from previously classified records revealed that, during a 2022 investigation at the Mar-a-Lago estate, once the Florida residence of former President Trump, the FBI was given permission to employ lethal force if the situation necessitated. This startling revelation has prompted calls by the leading Presidential candidate from GOP for enacting the 25th Amendment as a means to dismiss the incumbent 81-year-old Democrat President from office. The details laid bare by the release of the documents painted a vivid picture of how empowered the law enforcement officials were during the Mar-a-Lago operation. The description included not only permission for using 'lethal force when required' but also approval for the FBI agents to 'interact' with the Secret Service personnel assigned to the protection detail of former First Lady Melania Trump.
