What if the real problem in the Church isn't multiplication… but mobilization? In this episode, Peyton Jones and Pete Mitchell go deep into Peyton's new book Discipology: The Art and Science of Making Disciples—and why Jesus' original training model might be the missing engine behind today's stalled movements.Fresh off a trip to Wales (and a bucket-list encounter with punk icon Johnny Rotten), Peyton breaks down the Time, Teaching, and Tactics framework—how Jesus spent three years forming the Twelve, and why most modern discipleship models stop short of real disciple-making.Resources and Links Mentioned in this Episode:Reliant Mission: reliant.org/cppNewBreed TrainingThanks for listening to the church planter podcast. Eight Things Christians Are Supposed to Be Doing Right Now • Sunday Service Website: www.PastorTodd.org To give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give 1. Returning to Our First Love, Jesus Christ Before we do anything for God, we must be with God. This hour demands intimacy, repentance, and renewed devotion, not just activity. Revelation 2:4–5 (NKJV): “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.” 2. Making Disciples, Not Just Converts The assignment has never changed. We are not called to entertain the world, but to disciple it. Matthew 28:19–20 (NKJV): “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.” 3. Watching and Staying Spiritually Alert We are commanded to stay awake spiritually, discerning the times and refusing complacency. Matthew 24:42 (NKJV): “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.” 4. Living Holy and Set Apart Lives Holiness is not optional. It is how we remain usable vessels in a dark world. 1 Peter 1:15–16 (NKJV): “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.'” 5. Redeeming the Time and Living Intentionally This is not the season to waste time on meaningless pursuits or endless distractions. Ephesians 5:15–17 (NKJV): “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” 6. Standing Firm in Truth Without Compromise The pressure to compromise is real, but the call to stand is stronger. 1 Corinthians 16:13 (NKJV): “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” 7. Occupying Until Jesus Returns We are not waiting passively. We are working faithfully. Luke 19:13 (NKJV): “So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.'” 8. Walking Daily by the Power of the Holy Spirit Christianity was never meant to be lived in human strength. Acts 1:8 (NKJV): “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Church, this is not a time to drift. It is a time to return, rebuild, refocus, and rise. God is not looking for perfect people. He is looking for surrendered, obedient, watchful, and faithful ones. The question is not what the world is doing right now. The question is whether the Church will do what God has clearly told us to do.
270. Hell, the Abyss and the God Who Entres Darkness In this week's episode, Cris unpacks for us a Christian theology of hell by going back to the Bible, and by taking seriously both Scripture and the stories that shape our imagination. Drawing on themes from Struck in the Upside Down and the world of Stranger Things, this episode explores hell not as a cartoonish torture chamber or Satan's kingdom, but as what the Bible more consistently presents it to be, the abyss, the pit, the place where life collapses in on itself when cut off from God. PASTOR CLAUDE STAUFFER Mary welcomes back Pastor Claude Stauffer of Calvary Chapel in Amityville, NY to talk about the church side of the headlines concerning Iran. The cost of conversion there is a life or death matter of course, because it conflicts in every way with Islam. Is there revival going on there? Or is revival fueling the revolution at this juncture in 2026? We talk about the numbers, the cost and how God continues to use Persia for His own purposes – across the ages. Then we look at discipleship in the New Year, via Matthew 1-4. New Years’ resolutions are pretty useless, but God’s Word never returns void. Since that is our commission, to go and make disciples of all men, what better way to start things out than to learn more about how to do that. A full hour with a man who truly loves God’s Word and it transformative effects. Pray for Iran, for the believers there, that they too can make disciples boldly, and fearlessly. 268. Satan, Myth or Reality? What the Bible Actually Says This week's episode, Cris walks us through what the Bible actually says about the evil one, satan, the devil, cutting through speculation and myth to focus on Scripture itself. Tracing the biblical story, we explore who Satan is, how he operates through deception and accusation, the nature of the evil he promotes, and what the Bible says about his ultimate defeat. Along the way, the episode keeps Jesus at the centre, reminding us that Satan is not an equal opposite to God, nor the ruler of hell, but a defeated enemy whose power has been broken at the cross and whose final judgement is certain. Making Disciples matters most because a disciple lives like Christ and intentionally models Him for others to follow Think about it: If you are not making disciples or being discipled, what are you doing?
Jesus Followers Must Meet Jesus' Expectation of His “Great Commission” By Both “Going” and “Making Disciples” MESSAGE SUMMARY: Jesus, in Luke 15:4-7, tells us, through His Parable of The Lost Sheep, the importance to God of our discipleship: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.' Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.". Immediately before His Ascension into Heaven Jesus told the Apostles and us today, in His Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20, that as we go into our communities and into all parts of the world, we are to make disciples: “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'”. We must begin, as followers of Jesus, to meet His fundamental expectation for us by both going and making disciples! TODAY'S PRAYER: Abba Father, I open my clenched fists to surrender everything you have given to me. Reestablish my identity in you — not in my family, my work, my accomplishments, or what others think of me. Cleanse the things in me that are not conformed to your will. By faith I unite my will to yours so that the likeness of Jesus Christ may be formed in me. In his name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 85). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Self-Centeredness. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Love. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). How did Jesus make disciples who made more disciples? And how can we follow that same pattern? It starts with a “follow me”, “come with me” mindset. To be intentional with our invitations. To always be in pursuit of drawing people's hearts to Him. It's not about the words we say, it's about how we live our life and inviting people into what God is doing in, through and around us. ▶SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/c/SouthernHillsLV ▶Do you know Jesus as your Savior? https://www.southernhillslv.com/the-gospel ▶ DONATE: https://pushpay.com/g/southernhills?src=hpp&r=monthly ▶ Visit Southern Hills: https://www.southernhillslv.com/ ▶ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/southernhillslv ▶ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/southernhillslv/

As we step into a new year, it's easy to drift: busy, distracted, and spiritually comfortable. In this Vision Sunday message, we're reminded that God's vision for our lives and our church is not mere survival, but fruitfulness.Rooted in Jesus' words from John 15, this message calls us to move beyond being spectators, fans, or consumers of church and step fully into discipleship. We explore what it means to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Christ, both personally and together as a church family. This sermon lays out a clear and compelling vision: to be a church that elevates God's Word, equips one another, engages the world with the gospel, and enjoys Jesus and each other. It's an invitation to stop drifting, put on the jersey, and live with purpose. Being disciples who make disciples.
Lead Pastor Kurt Owens and Executive Pastor Zac Reuter give a recap of 2025 and then look ahead to our church's goals for 2026, with a faith-filled dream of seeing our congregation engaging in relational disciple-making within our unique spheres of influence. The service concludes with congregants' questions about specific church needs and intentions for the new year.
Have you ever wondered what your soul really is and why God cares so deeply about it? In this powerful sermon, we explore the threefold nature of humanity: spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). You are a spiritual being living in a physical body, with a soul that holds your mind, heart, and identity. God looks beyond outward appearances and sees the condition of your inner life—the thoughts you think, the desires you nurture, and the choices you make.Through scriptures like Matthew 16:26, James 5:20, and Romans 12:2, this message reveals the importance of crucifying the desires of the flesh and renewing your mind. Your soul can be transformed when you take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Exactly as Nebuchadnezzar lost his mind and lived like a wild animal when he turned away from God, believers today are called to protect their souls from pride, worldly desires, and sinful influences. This sermon teaches practical ways to align your spirit, soul, and body with God's will. By meditating on Scripture, obeying God's Word, and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide your actions, you can experience spiritual transformation and live as a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). When your mind and body submit to the Spirit, you become bright, salty, and alive in Christ, empowered to accomplish your divine purpose on earth. You'll also learn how God's impartial love calls us to treat others with equity, reject favoritism, and lead by example in love (James 2:1–4, Galatians 3:28). Spiritual growth is not just an internal process—it impacts the way you relate to others, serve your community, and reflect God's character in everyday life. Renewing your mind and purifying your soul isn't optional; it's essential for living a life of righteousness, love, and obedience (Romans 6:6–14, Colossians 3:1–10).If you want to understand the depth of your soul, unite your spirit, soul, and body, and walk in alignment with God's purpose, this message will inspire and guide you. Allow the Holy Spirit to ignite your heart, transform your thoughts, and empower your actions as you pursue spiritual maturity and a life fully devoted to Christ.Referenced Verses: James 5:20Matthew 16:26Matthew 10:28Malachi 2:9James 2:4Matthew 7:2-Social Media Ministries, founded by Spencer Coffman, is committed to sharing the Word of God with the entire world. What does it truly mean to make disciples? In this powerful four-part conclusion to the Commands of Christ series, we explore the Great Commission as the crescendo of all that Jesus commanded. Rooted in Matthew 28:18–20, this series calls us to move from inward transformation to outward multiplication. As we have spent four years treasuring, meditating on, and living out Christ's commands, we now step into the command to teach others to observe all things He has taught us.Have we allowed the commands of Christ to shape our lives so deeply that we are compelled to pass them on to others? What legacy of discipleship are we leaving behind for the next generation? As we conclude this four-year journey through the commands of Christ, we are invited into the very heartbeat of discipleship: to go, to teach, and to pass on what we've received. The Great Commission is not the end—it's a beginning. Jesus calls us to treasure His commands, not only in our study and meditation, but in our obedience and our sharing (Matthew 28:18–20). We've discovered that these 51 commands are not mere rules but revelations of Christ's character, windows into His heart, and pathways into deeper relationship with Him. From abiding in Him to receiving His power, from denying self to awaiting His return, each command has formed a beautiful mosaic of what it means to follow Jesus. Now, with full hearts, we pass the baton—encouraging every listener to continue in the Word, to keep treasuring His commands, and to go make disciples. Let us walk forward with boldness, knowing that Christ goes with us, and let us live in such a way that others see Him clearly through our lives. This is not just a podcast series—it is the ongoing call of Christ. May we hear it and follow Him faithfully.Want to go deeper in studying this command of Christ? Jesse South :: Creekside Church :: Sunday, December 28, 2025 In Matthew 28:17, Jesus' last words to His disciples include a command to “disciple all the nations”. The word disciple is usually a noun in Scripture, but in His Great Commission, Jesus also uses it as a verb. In Pastor Jesse South's year-end message based on this passage, we explore a balance of the noun sense (being a disciple of Jesus) and the verb sense (making other disciples), as well as a Biblical picture of what it means to be a well-rounded disciple. Jesse's message follows brief announcements. Worship music permitted under CCLI License #264436.

As we have spent four years treasuring, meditating on, and living out Christ's commands, we now step into the command to teach others to observe all things He has taught us.Have we embraced Christ's call not only to follow Him, but to help others do the same? Are we treasuring His commands in such a way that our lives overflow with the desire and ability to make disciples? As we reflect on the journey through the commands of Christ, we now arrive at the climactic call to make disciples—a commission that encapsulates all we've learned and lived out. Rooted in Matthew 28:18–20, this command is not just about going, but about going with the authority of Christ, filled with His Spirit, and teaching others to observe—to treasure and guard—everything He has commanded. Discipleship is the natural fruit of our own walk with Jesus; we cannot lead others where we ourselves have not gone. As disciplined followers who abide in His Word, we are called to multiply that life in others, knowing we do not go alone—He is with us always. In a world often content with conversion, Christ calls us to spiritual maturity—to shape lives that are rooted, trained, and transformed. His commands, covering every area of life, are His heart expressed, and to teach them is to lead others into deeper fellowship with Him. Let us walk worthy of this calling, empowered by His presence, faithful in His Word, and committed to the mission: making disciples of all nations.Want to go deeper in studying this command of Christ? What's the difference between church growth and real discipleship? Pastor Bob Reed found out the hard way—even as his Florida church was thriving numerically, he realized something was missing. That realization led him on a journey that would reshape his entire approach to ministry. Now leading CyLife Church in Texas, Bob shares how he moved from stage-focused ministry to relational discipleship, why he had to confess to his congregation that his relationship with Jesus had become "professional," and what it actually takes to create a culture of disciple-making.This is a conversation about getting honest with yourself, your calling, and what success really means in ministry.Get a chance to win a free copy of 'Real Life Discipleship' by Jim Putman by signing up for our newsletter at innovativechurchleaders.org! This command, rooted in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18–20), is not merely a call to evangelize, but a lifelong invitation to teach others to observe—to guard, treasure, and live out—all that Christ has commanded. Discipleship is not about producing spiritual converts alone, but nurturing disciplined followers of Jesus, shaped by His Word and empowered by His presence. We are reminded that the authority to go comes not from ourselves, but from the risen Christ who sends and stays with us. True discipleship begins in the quiet places of worship, overflows from a heart that treasures His Word, and is sustained by the power of His Spirit. As we go, we do not go alone—we go with the King, bearing His heart to the nations. By Dan Dowd - What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ?
What does it truly mean to make disciples? In this powerful four-part conclusion to the Commands of Christ series, we explore the Great Commission as the crescendo of all that Jesus commanded. Rooted in Matthew 28:18–20, this series calls us to move from inward transformation to outward multiplication. As we have spent four years treasuring, meditating on, and living out Christ's commands, we now step into the command to teach others to observe all things He has taught us.What does it truly mean to make disciples, and how are we living out the commands of Christ in a way that impacts others? Are we treasuring His Word so deeply that it overflows into discipling others? As we come to the final command in this rich four-year journey through the words of Christ, we are brought to the heart of it all—making disciples. The Great Commission is not just a call to proclaim salvation, but an invitation to walk with others as they grow in their relationship with Jesus. We are reminded that discipleship is more than teaching facts; it is guiding others to observe—to treasure, guard, and live out—the commands of Christ (Matthew 28:18–20). We do this not in our own strength but under His authority and in the power of His presence, promised to be with us always. True discipleship begins in the quiet place of worship, flows from hearts that are first surrendered, and continues as we share with others what we ourselves have received. Like disciplined athletes pressing toward a heavenly prize (1 Cor. 9:25), we are called to pursue Christ, to be shaped by His Word, and to multiply that life in others. Making disciples isn't a burden but a joy, an overflow of love for Jesus and for His people. Let us go with confidence—not in ourselves, but in the One who calls and empowers, who is always with us, even to the end of the age. Want to go deeper in studying this command of Christ? 267. Should Christians Watch Stranger Things? In this episode we explore the big question, should Christians watch Stranger Things, and why the answer is not as simple as yes or no. Instead, we look at how followers of Jesus can practise wise and thoughtful discernment with the stories we take in. The conversation moves beyond rules and into formation, asking what shapes our imagination, what draws us towards Christ, and what quietly pulls us away. 266. Why Am I so Impatient and How Do I Become More Patient (Virtue 7) In this episode, we take a thoughtful look at patience, why we lose it, and how it can be rebuilt in everyday life. We also explore how the Bible frames patience, drawing on passages that reveal God's character, the role of the Spirit, and the way waiting becomes an act of trust rather than frustration. Finally, we offer practical steps for growing patience in real situations, helping us respond with clarity rather than reaction. Pastor Scott illustrates discipleship by inviting Leon to share how joining a men's group after COVID deepened his faith and relationships. What began as a search for knowledge became a journey of friendship with Jesus and learning to disciple others through everyday relationships. Scott connects Leon's story to Acts 18, emphasizing that true church growth happens when disciples make disciples who live out the Great Commission. #Discipleship #GreatCommission #Acts18 #FaithInAction #CommunityInChrist
264. Love that heals, Charity (Vertue 6) In this week's episode, we explore the heavenly virtue of Charity-love in action, the virtue that heals both giver and receiver. We'll look at what true charity really means, why it's more than generosity, and how it becomes the antidote to greed and self-interest. Through story and reflection, we'll unpack Augustine's warning that “charity is no substitute for justice withheld,” and consider how love that is real must also be fair. Join us as we ask: how can we live out a charity that not only comforts but also transforms? In this special message from Everyday Mission, guest speaker Daniel Dixon unpacks why we multiply as followers of Jesus. From the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18–20, we're reminded that multiplication isn't just a church growth strategy—it's the heartbeat of God's mission. We multiply because the gospel is important, people are important, and God is important. When we grasp the weight of His authority and the beauty of His presence, we're compelled to share His love and make disciples everywhere. For more information about Integrity Church, visit our website, http://liveintegritychurch.org Connect with us on social media throughout the week to stay up to date on events and things happening at Integrity! 2 Timothy 2:1-2 teaches us that real thriving means making disciples because making disciples multiplies faith and matures faith. In the call to multiply faith, the enemy that combats against this is oftentimes selfish faith. Selfish faith is more concerned about me, myself, and I rather than God's kingdom, his mission, and his people. The way we surrender our selfish faith is by being given a vision of a thriving life that is more compelling than our selfish ways. Multiplying faith is a more compelling way to live because God's salvation extends beyond one person but carries on from generation to generation. But also, discipleship provides the means for mature faith. Paul explains discipleship always happens in the context of personal and proximate relationships. And it's through relationships that people come to love Christ above all. Discipleship is not an easy task but God has provided a source that his people can always return to for strength and it's his well of grace. This is what sustains us and strengthen us to make disciples who make disciples.

Early in the basketball season, the coach at our neighborhood middle school seemed to work hardest convincing his players to risk shooting the ball. “Shoot!” he pleaded from the sidelines. His players eagerly passed the ball. Dribbling was a favorite too. The season was half over before most of them would shed their doubts and try to shoot the ball to score. But “going for it” made all the difference. By obeying their coach, letting go of doubt, and trying—even if they often missed the target—they learned to win. Jesus teaches us to let go of doubt to obey His call to make disciples. He explains, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:18-20). In practical terms, this can mean stepping out of our comfort to share our story of what God has done for us. Or getting involved in the lives of our hurting neighbors, showing them Jesus’ love. Such approaches work, but only if we let go and try them. Above all, we go in Jesus’ authority to attempt what may look hard—making disciples. But we need not fear. Jesus promised: “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (v. 20).
When you hear the phrase "The Great Commission," what is your initial reaction? There can be a tendency in the church to relegate the carrying out of this command to those who are "called," or perhaps to those of a certain personality type.
