He discusses how nearshoring differs from traditional offshoring and why countries like Argentina provide strategic advantages for US-based companies seeking skilled engineers and remote professionals. Brian explains the importance of aligned time zones, cultural compatibility, and trust when building high-performing remote teams across borders. Throughout the conversation, Brian dives into the operational side of running a staffing and recruiting business, including scaling remote teams, hiring local recruiters, and creating autonomous work cultures. He also shares insights into entrepreneurship, bootstrapping versus raising capital, and the lessons learned from living and working internationally. The discussion highlights how remote-first business models, minimal overhead, and strong communication practices are reshaping the future of global work and staffing. Takeaways Nearshoring offers major advantages over traditional offshoring for US companies. Latin American talent provides strong technical skills and cultural alignment. Argentina has become a strategic hub for engineering and recruiting talent. Time zone compatibility improves collaboration and productivity. Startup culture helped shape Brian's entrepreneurial mindset. Building trust is essential when managing remote international teams. Remote teams thrive when employees are empowered and autonomous. Hiring local recruiters improves candidate quality and vetting processes. Entrepreneurship often requires balancing lifestyle and business goals. Hawaii's lifestyle influenced Brian's remote-first business model. Bootstrapping can create more operational flexibility than raising capital. Nearshoring reduces many communication challenges associated with offshoring. Cultural understanding is key when expanding internationally. Remote leadership depends heavily on communication and accountability. Latin American professionals often demonstrate resilience and entrepreneurial thinking. Minimal overhead allows remote staffing businesses to scale efficiently. Productive remote work requires trust rather than micromanagement. Recruiting high-level tech talent can generate strong long-term revenue opportunities. Cross-border businesses require adaptability and operational problem-solving. The future of remote staffing will continue growing in Latin America. What do you do when your child's “entrepreneurial spirit” earns them a detention slip? This conversation is messy, honest, and human — just like parenting. In this honest and relatable Super Woman Diaries episode of Chasing Brighter, Jessica and Kelly unpack a parenting moment that many of us quietly fear: getting that call from school. Kelly shares the story of her son Beckett, who started selling 3D printed items to classmates — including a plastic knife — and ended up in detention. What started as creativity and hustle quickly turned into a lesson about rules, responsibility, and consequences. And like all real-life parenting moments, it wasn't black and white.

Liz Chism has been an entrepreneur for over 11 years. She started out her entrepreneurial journey by starting a craft brewery with her husband and being the COO and Head Brewer. After that journey ended, she started Systems into Freedom where she is a business operations coach who strategizes with business about how to organize and streamline their operations so they can create freedom through their business. Liz seamlessly fits coaching around helping her husband in his real estate business, running the house, raising their three children, and homeschooling. “It wasn't until my husband and I decided to start a craft beer brewery that I found my passion for organizing, streamlining and strategizing–how to go from point A to Point B in the fastest way possible. “My husband and I fell in love with brewing, the science and the art mixture. And we fell in love with the community aspect that it brought, the ability to bring people together. What's interesting is that most people didn't think that I would be the brewer. They always put the male as the brewer and the female as the admin/marketing person. It turned out I had more talent for organizing and operations, repeating success and creating the recipes. In the end I was the brewer and did all the operations. My husband's talents were more of that CEO mentality, that visionary, and he handled the business side. We ran it for almost five years but ended up closing down in 2018 and filing bankruptcy in 2019. And that's actually when we pivoted. There's a lot of things about the brewery that we liked, but some aspects weren't a match for where we wanted to be and what we wanted to do with life. It was actually a moment where we could redesign our life however we wanted to. Based on what my husband and I learned while building the brewery, I started a coaching business called Systems into Freedom. It is designed to really help business owners put the systems in place so they will not get burned out. Those systems need to be incorporated into the culture of the business and leverage their employees to become leaders.

Realigning Your Business with Passion: Expert Insights from Kara DuffyIn this episode of The Thoughtful Entrepreneur, host Josh Elledge interviews Kara Duffy, CEO and Founder of KDCC International, who helps entrepreneurs and business owners realign their work with their passions and strengths. Kara shares how reconnecting with what you love can reignite purpose, boost profitability, and prevent burnout. Through her experience coaching creative leaders and building businesses, she offers clear, actionable steps to simplify operations, find your “zone of genius,” and create a company that feels as good as it performs.Building a Passion-Aligned BusinessKara believes that success starts with alignment—when your business reflects your purpose and energizes you daily. She explains that many entrepreneurs drift from their passion over time, taking on clients or projects that drain creativity and joy. Her “lemonade stand” philosophy encourages founders to strip back to what they do best and build from that foundation. By focusing on a single core offering, simplifying operations, and delegating distractions, business owners can regain clarity, increase profitability, and rediscover fulfillment in their work.Operating in your “zone of genius,” Kara says, means spending most of your time on high-value, joyful activities. She urges leaders to delegate or eliminate everything outside that zone and to audit weekly tasks for alignment. Through this lens, even niche businesses—like boutique creatives or specialists serving small, passionate audiences—can thrive when they stay authentic and focused. When clarity replaces clutter, it becomes easier to attract dream clients who align with your mission and values.Kara also emphasizes that business is a lifestyle, not just a job. She encourages entrepreneurs to design companies that support their personal rhythms and long-term well-being. Whether it's taking “mini holidays” to recharge or fostering genuine client relationships, the goal is to create a sustainable balance. Her signature mantra—“Stop Selling, Start Sharing”—captures her belief that authenticity and generosity are the true engines of business growth. When you lead with purpose and share what you love, success follows naturally.About Kara DuffyKara Duffy is the CEO and Founder of KDCC International, a business coaching and consulting firm dedicated to helping entrepreneurs and creative leaders build businesses that are both profitable and purposeful. Dale Wollschleger is the Founder and former CEO of Cleveland-based ExactCare Pharmacy and the developer of the ExactPack™—a patient-specific medication packaging system designed to simplify complex medication regimens. This conversation with Dale dives into the unlikely journey of a pharmacist-turned-entrepreneur who started in the back of a small Cleveland pharmacy and built a billion-dollar organization serving patients across the country.ExactCare's meteoric growth—from inception to a multi-hundred-million-dollar business in under a decade—has earned it repeated recognition as an Inc. 5000 fastest-growing company and a Top Workplace by The Plain Dealer. Dale himself was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year.Ultimately, Dale's remarkable journey stems from an observation he made as a pharmacist: that pharmacists have the opportunity to play a more integral role in clinical care—and that their responsibility doesn't end when the patient leaves the store. Many patients could live healthier, more independent lives if only they took the right medications at the right times. In our conversation, Dale shares how he navigated the many chapters of scaling a healthcare business: bringing in private equity and outside capital, evolving his leadership, and balancing high-growth expectations with a deep commitment to patient outcomes, company culture, family—and much more.00:00 - The Journey of a Pharmacist Turned Entrepreneur14:34 - Building ExactCare: Addressing Complex Patient Needs24:18 - The Evolution and Vision of ExactCare31:07 - Entrepreneurial Spirit in Pharmacy38:59 - Understanding the Pharmacy Industry43:24 - Pride in Building in Cleveland-----For more on The O.H.I.O. Dave Lukas, The Misfit Entrepreneur_Breakthrough Entrepreneurship
Hello Misfit Entrepreneurs! This is Dave Lukas and Welcome to a very special Independence Day edition of The Misfit Entrepreneur Podcast. Today, we pause to honor a radical, world-changing idea—an idea that birthed a nation unlike any other in history. On July 4th, 1776, fifty-six men signed a document that would forever alter the course of humanity. They didn't just declare independence from a king—they declared independence for the individual. They declared that your rights didn't come from government, but from God. That liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness were not privileges, but birthrights. In doing so, they ignited a revolution—not just of nations, but of minds, markets, and human potential.
