We all judge books by their covers—but what happens when the cover tells one story, and the pages inside reveal another? This week on Chatter That Matters, I sit down with Mike Power, a testament to resilience. Mike appeared to have it all together: a top strategist, a two-time Boston Marathon runner, and a sharp conversationalist with wicked humour. But beneath that polished exterior was a battle with addiction, a journey to rock bottom, and a burning desire for reinvention. Mike shares his deeply personal story of losing control to alcohol and drugs, facing a devastating cancer diagnosis, and rebuilding trust with those who had lost faith in him. This is a raw, honest conversation about struggle, survival, and transformation. But Mike's story isn't just about overcoming darkness—but unlocking potential. Now, with his book Flow, he's guiding others to find their path to possibility, using a mix of deep reflection, mindset shifts, and practical steps to turn dreams into reality. We dive into his philosophy on manifesting a life you truly want, the energy state that allows us to break free from limitations, and why so many of us are more powerful than we realize. Whether facing obstacles or simply looking to improve your circumstances, this episode will enlighten you and challenge you to rethink what's possible. Don't miss it! Melbourne's LNY breaks away from the superficialities of underrated music, and instead chooses to focus on what matters most — creating songs about the human condition and writes to connect to those who feel unheard. For LNY, music represents expression of emotion in its purest form. Often sweet, melodic and warm in her vocal style, the Australian R&B artist delves into deeper themes of the human experience; grief, lust, hardship, pride, gratitude. Each hook, each rhyme and every bar comes from the honest journal writings of LNY who uses music writing as a form of therapy. LNY promises relatability, resonance and oozes self love.
MIKE POWER As a veteran of New York City's underground music scene, I played on the stages of such beloved lost venues as CBGB's and Kenny's Castaways, as well as stalwart survivors like Arlene's Grocery and the Bitter End, as singer and guitarist with several bands. While quarantining from the pandemic, I worked remotely with other artists to record my first solo album, a collection of new music called Observations that Beat Buzz News calls a “great mix of old school NYC punk and acoustic gems.” My new album Compulsions was recorded this year with a wonderful band and producer at Vinegar Hill Sound in Brooklyn. Compulsions is available now wherever you get your musical fix. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************** Todd's music is no country for old men. While he undoubtedly draws his sonic influence from titans like Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, his melodies skew modern. He plays almost every instrument, from piano to guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and drums, and the multi-instrumentalist doubles as a songwriter for himself as well as for other artists. “"If I can put a smile on someone's face through song, well that just means the world to me,” he says. “I try to get to the real heart and soul of a song. To me, it's not just words but a story, and I do my best to portray that with every line. That's my main draw to country music; the stories, the people, and the sincerity that comes from the heart."
COCO FARMANI My life long passion for poetry & music blossomed after a horrific life event this year. Music came to my rescue in the morning on April 23, 2022 when my son taught me to download free music from YouTube, load it into Logic Pro and record demo's of myself. From that moment on Writing Songs became my safe haven, my refuge from years of abuse, poverty, depression, abandonment and an impeding cycle of bad thoughts related to past memories, that were on repeat in my head. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** TEE CEE GH A fast rising star from West Africa Ghana. Sir Geoffrey de Lacy, the cousin of Sir Ranulf, arrives at the castle and confirms he knows the King is in London. Sir Gilles is about to torture him as a liar during a royal banquet when the Doctor intervenes. After a series of mishaps, including the death of Sir Geoffrey at the Master's hands, the Doctor confronts the King and the Master and discovers the truth. The monarch is really Kamelion, a war weapon found by the Master on Xeriphas, which can be mentally controlled and used to adopt disguises and personas. Disguised as King John, the Master intends that Kamelion will behave so appallingly so as to provoke a rebellion and topple the real King from his throne, thus robbing the world of , the foundation of . It is a small plan on the Master's usual scale, but nevertheless particularly poisonous to the normal progress of Earth society. The Doctor resolves the situation by testing the Master in a battle of wills for control over Kamelion. In the story, the Master disguises himself as Sir Gilles Estram; Estram being an of "Master". The Master adopted numerous in the course of the series, usually to be plays on the word "Master". Other examples include "", ," and "", as well as the unfortunate , whose body the Master stole. In order to hide the Master's involvement in the story, the first episode and listed Estram as being played by "James Stoker", an anagram of "Master's Joke".
